OMG Food porn at its best! Yes, some of it is a little fussy, but it's so purdy! The china! The silverware! The food! And yes, a lot of the recipes do have a list of ingredients. But there's a lot of recipes that call for normal, everyday ingredients and the steps only take up a couple of paragraphs. Not too onerous. Especially if you're cooking for a special occasion, which this book is obviously meant for... It's kind of in the title!

Some of my favs that I can't wait to try: Roasted Bone-In Pork Loin with Best-Ever Jezebel Sauce; Lobster "Mimi"; Wild Rice with Mushrooms, Pecans, and Cranberries; The Absolutely Perfect Creamed Spinach; Summer-or Winter, for that matter-Squash Gratin; Tomatoes Provencale; Oven-Roasted Most-Any Tomatoes (Next time my hubby decides to slow-smoke a steak, I'm doing this!!); and the Peach Upside-Down Cake with hot Bourbon Sauce.

So even though there are a lot of fancy-pants recipes (3 or 4 that call for caviar!), there's also a recipe for peas and carrots! A little something for everyone! I'm impressed with the number of recipes he uses that call for Bourbon or bacon. Yummm!
