Even a small town girl can have big dreams...
Marcie Brooks has returned to her home town with a baby and a ring on her finger. But for all her grandmother's insistence that she's a young widow, the truth is the only boy Marcie has ever loved tragically died before he could make good his promise to wed her. Sometimes she still feels his presence near her, which is both a comfort and an unnerving sign that she's inherited her grandmother's psychic gifts...
However defending herself from unwanted attention has devastating consequences - Marcie has to leave Sheppey in a hurry. The offer of a job in a smart boutique on the Kings Road in London, arranged via her father's dodgy connections, seems to offer an ideal escape. But it doesn't take Marcie long to discover that her new Sicilian bosses have other business interests besides fashion...

Entertaining even tho irritating. Her ability to keep trusting men so easily just because they show a little kindness towards her, amazes me. Also, how could she let Roberto give Rita a ride home? She could at least be there with them. The fact that she didn’t even suspected for a second that he knew the truth just shows how stupid Marcie can be.
Also, some details in the books seems mixed up or not very clear. For instance, did Marcie told her father and her grandmother Alan Taylor raped her? There was no mention of such a conversations but at times the both acted like they knew what had happened.
She keeps getting raped and although it’s not her fault because she was clearly taken advantage of, I wish she was more careful with the people she meets. Sometimes it feels like she doesn’t even think before she acts.
And if the third book is just the same. With her getting in trouble over and over again I won’t read cause it’s just gets tiring at some point. -
This was the second of a three part series on the life of Marcie Brooks. I can't wait to read part 3.

I finished 'Anyone Who Had A Heart' by Mia Dolan and I really enjoyed it.
Easy reading and I got into it straight away.
Unpredictable and all the loose ends got tied up in the end...
in a way I had not expected.
Will read more by Mia Dolan. -
A very enjoyable read set in the 60s. The story about Marcie Brooks continues on from Rock a Bye Baby. Looking forward to the third and final book - Wishing and Hoping
