There was an idea.

To bring together a group of remarkable people, to see if they could become something more.

It didn't work out.

In fact, The Goodies Superhero Talent Agency is rapidly running out of steam. Which certainly isn't going to make Iron Man's life any easier*.

Clearly, it's time for Graeme, Bill, and Tim to cut out the middleman, fire up the Trandem, and become heroes themselves.

What could possibly go wrong?

The Goodies: Avengers Dissemble Reviews

  • Terry

They're back! Yep The Goodies are back in this laugh out loud novella along with Dame Joanna Lumley. Based on an audio series script that never happened due to the untimely death of Tim Brooke-Taylor, this is full of wonderful puns, silly slapstick and terrible jokes, all the things that made The Goodies both much loved and much missed.

There are rumours that there may be more books in the works... Goody, Goody, Yum, Yum!

  • Slim OysterHiatus

This was funnier than I ever found the Goodies proper (sorry!). With the plot secondary to the relentless wordplay, the gags come at 26.82 m/s. Callbacks, obscure references, and fourth walls badly in need of repair abound.

  • Colin Murtagh

This was an absolute delight. While starting out life as the idea for an audio drama, Big Finish style, it's now been turned into a Novella. Even from the cover, which is made to look like the old Target novels, this sets out its stall as what could easily have been an episode in the 70/80s .
There really is no point talking about the plot, it's wafer thin, and really only there to act as a skeleton to hang jokes on. And oh the jokes. I don't think there is a single page without a pun, or wordplay or a joke of some sort. This is one of the few books that made me actually laugh out loud. Eaton-jones has their voices down to a fine art, and it all works beautifully. Please let there be more

  • Derelict Space Sheep

A pun-filled nostalgic riot of a novella based on scripts for the curtailed Audible series. Though Eaton-Jones captures a brand of Goodies mayhem more in keeping with the Cor!! comics or ISIHAC than the TV show, the outcome is nonetheless very welcome.

  • The Otter Bookshelf

This novella, as Graeme Garden said when consenting to the project, is full of ‘fun, satire, weirdness, wordplay and downright silliness’.

It aligns itself close to the tone of the original writing of the TV series and quite easily could be a missing episode - albeit more recent references.

Humour and warmth can be found on each and every page that is not intentionally blank.

It is a real treat for nostalgic fans and anyone who enjoys fast-paced slapstick, almost pantomime-type humour with a quintessential British tone to it regarding references and wit.

I am hoping for further Goodies novellas in the upcoming future.

  • Pinky And The Brain

Nice read, unfortunately it didn’t translate from TV to novella that well.
