What? Just me?
Needless to say, my current status is thorny. And no, I didn’t miss how close that word is to another one.
Even though he’s the epitome of tall, dark, and incredibly handsome, Remington Winslow has been a single bachelor for most of his life. It’s clichéd and basic—until you consider the fact that once upon a terrible time, he got left at the altar.
He doesn’t do relationships. He definitely doesn’t fall in love.
And I’m just trying to survive a tangled web of unexpected motherhood and running one of the top real estate firms in the city that never sleeps.
He’s the jaded guy who doesn’t want to settle down, and I’m the career-focused woman with more baggage than a 747 can hold.
We’re just two friends who used to be in love.
Now, if someone would tell my hormones I’m not a teenager anymore, I’d be set.

Skimmed through it. He broke up with her 26 years ago because he went to college. He felt like crap doing it but he needed to be free for college. Yuck. After breaking up with her, he thought wow I hope I find someone as h… is he stupid? During 26 years, they don’t talk. He never thought: maybe it was h after all. Instead, he found her pregnant in a elevator/lift and helps her while the elevator is stuck. I think she gave birth on that elevator with him. The baby is from her sister and brother in law, they had fertility issues, but they died. So, she is grieving them and pregnant.

Twenty-Six Years Ago
Late Summer, after senior year
Remy pov
Nerves fill my chest, and Maria sits beside me, at one of our favorite spots in Central Park. She fidgets with her jean shorts, and I try to gain the strength to have a conversation with her that I know is going to be hard. In less than a week, I’m going to be heading off for college, and Maria will be here, finishing her last two years of high school. I love this girl like crazy, I really do, but I don’t think staying together is the right thing. She should enjoy her last two years of high school, and I should have the freedom to enjoy being in college. We shouldn’t be stressed over a long-distance relationship right now. We should just be living our lives. Having fun. Enjoying being young while we can. “Do you want to grab dinner aft—” she starts to say just as I finally find the courage to tell her. As a result, we pretty much talk over each other. “We need to talk, babe.” Her eyes jerk to mine, but I repeat myself, just to ensure she hears me. “We need to talk, babe.” She doesn’t say anything at first, instead searching my gaze. Eventually, she looks out toward the park and nods. “Yeah, I guess we do, huh? You’re leaving soon, and we need to figure out where we go from here.” “Yeah,” I say, nodding even though she isn’t looking at me. “I don’t want to break up, but I don’t see how we’re going to be able to stay together.” She grimaces, her eyes fixated on her shoes. “You don’t think we can manage long-distance,” she says, her voice tinged with sadness. Fuck. This is hard. Harder than I thought it would be. “I…I don’t think that would be good for either one of us, you know?” She looks up at me, and one tear slips from her lid and down her cheek. I feel like the biggest bastard on the planet. “Fuck, babe. I’m sorry. I hate this. I hate—” “It’s okay.” She shakes her head and sniffles. “I understand. You deserve to start college with a clean slate. A new beginning without anything holding you back.” I don’t know what to say to that, but Maria doesn’t give me any time to figure it out. She stands up from the park bench and leans down to press a soft kiss to my cheek. Her last kiss to my cheek. “Goodbye, Remington Winslow.” Fucking hell. This isn’t how this was supposed to go. This isn’t how it was supposed to feel—like I’ve intentionally put myself in a meat grinder. “Maria, I don’t want it to end like this between us,” I start to say, but she shakes her head and pulls up to stand straight. “Nothing else needs to be said, okay? I understand. You’re moving on, and one day, so will I.” Her eyes shine with more emotion, but she doesn’t linger after that. With a flick of her hair and a turn of her toe, all I’m left with is the sight of her walking away. I pull my Walkman from my pocket and put my headphones on in an effort to drown out the feeling of sitting on this bench all alone. I expect it to make me feel better, to help me find the reasoning in my decision and settle into the consequences. But when the opening lyrics of “Someone Like You” start to fill my ears, I find myself thinking, I hope, one day, I’ll find someone like Maria again.
Still Friday, November 15th
Remy pov
I was such a fucking idiot back then. An eighteen-year-old prick who broke up with Maria because he was going off to college. Because he wanted freedom. Wanted tail. Wanted to play the fucking field. A dumb little shit who had his priorities all fucked up. But I know better now. I know what my priorities are, and I know exactly what the woman standing in front of me means. -
⭐️ one star -
This is going to fall into my DNF shelf. Why I even picked this one up is anyone’s guess. I was lured with the forced proximity premise; I just love that trope, but alas, that was not properly executed here.
In all fairness, it should be noted that I have rarely rated any stories from this popular author duo above two stars, so you might want to take my review with a grain a salt. I don’t know why I keep trying this author; just a glutton for punishment, I guess. Or rather, I do know why - it’s the strong quality concepts that pull me in, but then I get hung up on the execution that just falls flat 💁♀️
The only three star rating I have personally reviewed from this duo has been “The Bet”, and you can read my review of that book here 👉
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
For this book here, “The Redo”, VERY mild spoilers are coming up:
………………
I really tried to get into this one, but it fell flat. I almost closed it up once it’s revealed (still within the sample, and at about 5-10%) that our heroine is pregnant. I cannot stand stories where the h is pregnant with someone else’s baby, and I almost called it quits right there. This fact is not mentioned in the blurb, and if it was, I never would’ve started this book.
It turns out that she’s pregnant as a surrogate, so I continued to plug away at it. However, all of the nuances of the writing that have previously annoyed me in other books quickly came to the forefront. Specifically, how on earth can you instantly recognize someone you haven’t seen in 20+ years? That’s a bit of a stretch for me, and all it did was remind me of shortcomings I hated from previous reads by this duo - the cheese factor is way too high for me to stomach.
……………….
All this one did was remind me why I generally don’t care for this author duo’s work. I think it’s a personal preference of mine, and I will truly reconsider reading anything else from them.
Great concept, poor execution. One small star. -
Maria + Remy
We already met Remington and his brothers in the previous books and we also know that they all went to see a fortune teller 14 years ago and that three of those fortunes have come true already. Remy still doesn't believe in a happily ever after for him - even though the weird lady told him that someone would walk back into his life one day...
And that day is now. In a stuck elevator in 90 degree heat. It's his first love Maria. Highschool sweetheart. Sounds promising... but she's also eight months pregnant! It's not her biological kid, but still - it's so very complicated...
LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN!
════════════════
Another adorable and funny and sparky hot Max Monroe rom-com!
Talking about hot - remind me to never visit New York in the summer! I do not want to get stuck in an elevator - not even with a Remy person!
This book was so cute and funny and a bit heartbreaking.
So full of the most adorable Remy and baby moments. *swoon*
So many amazingly hilarious and adorable sibling and family moments. And of course we get our much-needed Thatch-fix too!
It's a bit sad that Maria and Remy kinda wasted over two decades by not being together. But at least they're using that second chance now - even though it might take them a while to believe in that happily ever after...
Perfect final book in this amazing series.
And a perfect extended epilogue for the whole family that you'll get by clicking the link at the end of the book! DO IT!
Tiny side-note. Remy is my very favorite cover in this series!
And still I'm asking myself: How are none of Max Monroe's books streaming their behinds off on Netflix yet?? The world is a weird and sad place!!
THE REDO was the perfect final book in this series! A funny and adorable and just super sweet + beautiful Second-Chance Rom-Com! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Remy - this one's mine!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: second chance
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥
There were so many things I liked about this book! Awesome, witty dialogue. Kick-butt heroine. Crazy family ❤. I did have a bit of a hard time on how the hero played it so close to his chest for so long, but his willingness to step up so completely more than made up for it❤. Will definitely be reading the next one - super invested at this point, lol.
The Redo is a standalone, but best read in series order.
⛔️ My bookshelves can sometimes contain spoilers -
1 hopeless star because of thatcher kelly and only because of thatcher kelly.
5 stars for the bonus epilogue.
there’s a baby. the story revolves around a baby. i hate babies. i rest my case. 🤩
now that i’ve had some time to gather my thoughts, i didnt like this book. not just because its main character cant even support its own head, but just because i felt that the 3 previous books were sogood that the redo was just so lacklustre compared to them.
!!spoilers here!!
i expected more banter between the winslows, i got a sob story in return. i thought there’d be some serious grovelling, it was the slowest of burns. i didnt expect remy and cleo to be bffs, but they are and that’s so funny to me.
the whole “remy delivers a baby in the elevator” i mean what in the actual mother of hell was that? as a reader, i am horrified. as a baby hater, i am concerned (should i not be?? because the germs in an elevator tf??). as an avid elevator user, i am scarred. f in chat to the person that had to clean that elevator afterwords. 🫠also lift >>>>> elevator😤
i don’t know if its just a cultural thing, or a book-world thing, but if a baby’s parents are dead, and you are carrying their baby (never knew that was a thing before some celebrity did it tbh & i dunno seems fishy just renting out your uterus?), does the baby not have aunts, cousins, other family that YOU could go to just because they are unable to come to you?? ever thought of that maria? hmm 🙂
ok the “big” proposal- if someone proposed to me in the same place where i freaking gave birth and expelled bodily fluids, i would break up with them immediately. imagine renting out a hospital birthing room where your partner gave birth because you wanted to propose to them in a “full circle moment”. 🤢
let’s talk about the good things, yeah?
remy and flynn playdates. 😭😭
conclusion
hey if feel-good stories about raising a child (that is biologically not yours) with your high-school sweetheart are your thing, then i recommend. max monroe have written such fabulous books, so i’m going to treat this book like
Scoring the Billionaire and completely erase it from my memory. 🤪
ok thank u bye :) -

This is the fourth and final book in the Winslow Brother series and it totally felt like coming home. By now in the series we have gotten to know them all so well, but it was this huge comfort feeling finally getting the eldest brother, Remy's story.
You see, he was left at the alter all those years ago. And is now anti-commitment. He's pretty broody about it. But when he gets trapped in an elevator with his ol' high school sweetheart, a connection is rekindled, and tunes seem to be changing. Even if Maria happens to be 8 months pregnant...
It's official. I've gone and fallen for another Winslow brother. Remy is the definition of swoon, and I couldn't get enough of him. You can't help but feel there's some divine intervention, fate, or some kind of magic at play here in this series... and you know, I'm all for it. And that Maria, she is such a strong heroine. Despite all the hardships she's faced on her own, she's a successful business woman and about to become a mom. It's not easy for her to let someone in. But Remy makes it nearly impossible not to.
I just loved this explosive slow burn. A gentle build with great tension, and feels, that led to some fantastic steamy scenes. This one felt much sweeter out of the bunch. More emotion than we've previously seen. While still having many great laugh out loud moments. These two just worked. The perfect team. It was effortless. The flashbacks into their past really tied everything together so well too.
The relationship these brother's have though... Their antics and banter. It really is a highlight of this series. I love the family feel this book especially has. It just wrapped up so perfectly. You MUST read the extended epilogue!! It is utter perfection. It had me cracking up with tears in my eyes. Well done Max Monroe, well done. I hope we see this family again in the future. Highly recommend!

The waiting for the oldest Winslow brother to find his peace is finally here and boy oh boy was it worth the wait. I've read the whole series and so far Flynn was my favorite but Remy is coming in in close second for sure.
Maria and Remy have a past and it has taken them almost 20 years to see and speak to each other. When they broke up after high school life took them in opposite directions. But now they're together and not everything about their relationship is easy. The connection is still there, not to mention the chemistry. The story was intense and sweet and by the end of it you can't help but wanting it to go on forever.
If you haven't read this series you're really missing out. Everyone of the books was funny, sweet, hot and heavy behind closed doors (or in public - you name it they've done it) but most of all they are filled with all the FRICKING feels one wants in a romance book!!! -
This is the fourth book in a series and it's the perfect conclusion to this phenomenal series!!!
Remy and Maria’s story is just incredible.
#mustread #romance -
The Redo is the story about the final and the oldest Winslow brother. I haven't read the previous books (heard about them but didn't really care enough about them) so I felt as if I missed a lot of contexts. The banters between the brothers were funny and entertaining but since I have not read the previous book, I have no idea what kind of relationship they had.
I also liked the anti-dramatic approach the book had but since it was a pretty long book, I felt bored out of my mind sometimes. It was a sweet romance. The hero was kind and caring. The heroine was pretty cool.
Sometimes the story felt too slow but other times it felt well-paced.
Tropes in this book:
•second chance
•single mom
•cute baby
•bromance
The book could have been much better without a lot of useless scenes.
ARC was provided by the publisher. -
I read these out of order but it is a Max Monroe book so I don’t care. I was too far into it when I realized I had not read The Secret which is Ty’s story but I have always been intrigued by Remy so I just kept reading his story.
I enjoyed how this book went back and forth from present day with Remy & Maria and their past when in high school.
Remy is the oldest Winslow sibling and often times seems like the grouchy one but he really isn’t. He is such a great uncle to Winnie’s daughter and it is clear how much he loves his siblings even if he does give them a hard time. This book really defined him as one of the most swoon worthy Winslow Brothers.
Maria was Remy’s high school sweetheart but he was 2 years older so when he graduated as a senior Maria had 2 more years to go. So they split up before Remy’s graduation.
Maria only had her mother and younger sister but now it is just her until a blast from the past just happens to be on her same elevator.
OMG……I really did love their story. I liked that it was a really unusual storyline. Both characters are so warm and fun and caring.
The continuous banter with the Winslow siblings is always entertaining. I really hope this isn’t the end of this family. I’m going to be sad if it is. All the babies need to grow up so they have stories. It can be the Winslow Next Generation. 😊
Oh by the way there is a free extended epilogue that is definitely worth getting!!! -
My favorite book of the series! This was a fantastic second chance, single parent/caregiver romance with former high school sweethearts, older MCs and a swoony male lead who steps up when Maria is struggling being a new mom and dealing with her sister's sudden death. Great on audio narrated by Charlotte North and Eric Michael Summerer and perfect for fans of books like Life's too short by Abby Jimenez or Change of plans by Dylan Newton.

It honestly feels like I’ve been waiting forever for this book. I’ve wanted Remy’s book right from the beginning and especially with the small crumbs we got regarding his past. I was not disappointed and had a blast reading this book and it definitely left me in a good mood.
Maria is a workaholic in which her life revolves around her career. She doesn’t have time for a relationship but honestly she isn’t looking for one anyway. She’s been through some unimaginable things that have left her to figure out how she’s going to get through, but she’s strong and selfless and if anyone can make it work, it’s her. Though sometimes it’s good to have a helping hand and in Maria’s case it comes in the form of a blast from the past.
Remy is the oldest of the Winslow siblings and the most guarded when it comes to his heart. After being left at the alter he’s sworn off relationships and is content with his decision. He spends most of his time working and also spending time with his family. With everything that Remy’s gone through he deserves to find happiness and have someone be on the receiving end of his love and care because he has a lot to give even if he doesn’t think so.
Maria and Remy share a past, one where they dated in high school. Like all young love it didn’t last even though they were gone for each other. Decades later they are reunited in the unlikeliest way and it’s like no time has passed and everything just clicks. It’s more than evident that the spark that was always there between them is still ever present. Reading about their past only solidified how perfect they were and still are for each other.
The Redo was the perfect way to end an amazing series. Maria and Remy’s story brought all the feels as well as the hotness. I absolutely love the Winslow clan and all their shenanigans. And that extended epilogue was *chef’s kiss* and I honestly could’ve read 15 more chapters. Max Monroe, tip of the hat to you and thank you for giving us these fantastic characters.
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book* -
FAVORITE BOOK OF THE SERIES BY A LANDSLIDE!!
Two people get stuck in an elevator. One is pregnant woman. The other happens to be the women’s first love and ex boyfriend from decades prior. But what was the most unexpected was that she was having contractions that she ignored & was going to be forced to deliver right in that elevator!!! What a wild ride!!
Izzy was the cutest baby. There is so much story to her background and the found family that came from it was probably my favorite part. I could feel the love radiating off the pages.
I love how the elevator played such a big role in the relationship between the two. And it was such a wonderful meet cute!!!
And the best part about this series is that it’s so interconnected (but all standalones) & we get to see each brother in every book. As well as a mysterious fortune teller who just so happens to be very very good at what she does 😏
Maria & Remy = perfection!!!!!
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
tropes:

What a good way to end the series!! The story is told in dual POVs and in past/present timeline. I liked being able to see inside both the h/H head as well as learn about BOTH of their pasts. It didn’t have the laugh out loud moments like I’m accustomed to from Max Monroe, but it was sweet, loving, had some humor, and heartache.
Poor Maria had gone through SO much in her life. She is such a great female character. She’s witty, compassionate, strong, and independent.
Remy had intrigued me the most out of all the Winslow brothers. In previous books he seemed a bit broody, but loving, compassionate, and protective of his family. In this book we see his compassion, protectiveness, sexiness, and wit. I loved how he would just show up and help Maria, knowing she’d be too independent to ask for help. You know he’d be a great dad from the way he was with Lexi, so I really enjoyed seeing his soft side whenever he took care of Izzy.
I do feel like it could’ve been shortened just a little bit, but I’m still happy with the story! It can be read as a stand-alone, but I’d suggest reading them in order to get the full effect! -

Have you ever read an entire series, finished the last book, and felt let down because the final book didn’t leave the series on a high note? Fear not, friends. That is NOT the case with Max Monroe’s The Redo, the final book of their Winslow Brothers’ series. In fact, I will state it plainly here: it’s my favorite of the four. If I had to put the Winslow Brothers in order (they would both love and hate this. Jude would brag, believing he had the best story, while Ty jibes him that his is the best. Flynn would stay silent and judge Jude and Ty, caring little for my thoughts on his story, and Remy would tell them all to shut up and let me speak.). For me, my favorite stories in order belong to Remy, Flynn, Jude, and finally, Ty (oh how he’d hate that).
Remy and Maria’s story embodies the best of the Winslow family. Remy is a natural protector, borne in his father’s absence. The way that he looks over Maria absolutely melts your heart. Fate brings them together so that Maria has the support missing in her life. As Remy steps in and cares for her, you would think that their relationship would be uneven, However, Max Monroe have carefully constructed Remy and Maria’s relationship with Maria caring for Remy protectively as well. Remy and Maria are suited: they laugh, cry, and find joy in each other. Maria is a veritable heroic beast in her own right. I won’t share her story, but she’s the type of heroine who makes you proud to be a woman. And Remy is her perfect partner.
Max Monroe take their time in developing the relationship, however. Putting a name on their relationship creates a relationship slowburn. Physically, though, their chemistry is too combustible to make them wait too long. Using the past and present to tell Remy and Maria’s second chance at love story, Max Monroe have deftly plotted out Maria and Remy’s romance. Max Monroe warned of the girth of this story; however, nothing is extraneous with this book. It is precisely as it should be.
This story, along with the other books in the series, has quickly become one of my favorite series. It has some of the seriousness of The Girl in the Painting (my fav Max Monroe), and it has Max Monroe’s trademark humor. However, where the humor of their other stories sometimes feels canned and a bit obvious, The Redo’s humor isn’t as obvious. There is a sweetness to Remy and Maria’s journey that feels perfect for them. Instead, Max Monroe have carefully crafted humorous moments that match Remy and Maria’s journey. There is a specific carnival experience that made me laugh out loud. And the bonus epilogue is a wonderful mix of sentimentality and comicality. In fact, this is one of my favorite bonus epilogues, wrapping up this series beautifully.
Max Monroe’s The Redo is an apt reminder that a well-told second chance romance is heaven. Remy and Maria’s story will leave you with a huge book hangover. While I’m sad to say goodbye to the Winslow clan, I believe Max Monroe left us with one heck of a series from start to finish. -
The book was cute but i definitely feel like it didn’t keep me as hooked as i hoped it would + this was my first book in the series ik it’s weird but i still feel like despite reading the rest it wouldn’t make any difference :))
Also realised that i might not be the biggest fan of kids (it has a single mom trope) & ngl i really thought i’d love that trope based on those reels i saw on booksta but yeah no + 2nd chance romances are definitely not for me like i definitely don’t like reading about the past it bores me BUT ALL OF THIS IS ON ME. PERIOD. This book made me realise what i definitely don’t like in a book so yeah thanks to the authors for that :)) -
Well today is going to be a rough one since I was up WAY too long last night because I simply had to finish this book! I have a love/hate relationship with Max Monroe. I LOVE to read their stories but I HATE to finish them! And these Winslows, man I’m sad that this is the last one.
I fell in love with Uncle Remy back in Scoring the Billionaire, I mean how could you not? His relationship with his niece Lexi is EVERYTHING! So I was looking forward to his story the most, and I was not disappointed!! Remy and Maria’s story is filled with emotion, banter and broken elevators. You are going to laugh, cry and most definitely blush.
We all need a Remy Winslow in our lives, his sense of calm is exactly what Maria needs, his grumpy demeanor with his brothers makes me laugh, and his love for all the females in his life will make you swoon.
Read this book, heck read the whole series, they are so much fun. And don’t get me started on the bonus epilogue at then end!! Perfect…Perfect… Perfect!!! -

Second chance romance is my jam and I love to see men with kids! I was totally excited about this one.
It was fun and smexy. Watching these two fall for each other was precious and I enjoyed the previous time intertwined throughout the book.
These Winslow men crack me up! The family is one of my favorite things about this series and this is a stand-alone if you’re wondering. I think Remy is my favorite but alas there’s one more book coming! 🤗 But seriously, Remy was everything I want when it comes to figuring a women out. He was so attentive and dependable through the whole situation. **Sigh**
I highly recommend this. And to M&M, you girls really delivered with this one. Thank you. -

I liked the way the series was wrapped up. Some parts felt useless and made the story drag. I got that the couple were childhood loves but it felt a little disconnected and instalove with how quickly they fell back in love.

This is probably one of the best English books I've read this year. I SUPER LOVE THIS, I CAN TALK ABOUT IT ALL DAY!
The chemistry, the tension, the spice.. ✨exquisite✨
I really love ML's character development here. You can see how he slowly transforms from being skeptical about love/relationship after his whole unfortunate incident previously.
But falling for his old flame? AAAAAAAHHHHHH -
Tried to read this on 7/21/22.
DNF at 28% (and this book is like 570 pages long, so I read over 150 pages). I gave it a shot. But it's just not for me. The whole second-chance romance thing. Nope. Not my trope. And the fact that Maria is a severely struggling single mom who refuses to accept help just pisses me the fuck off. Give me a couple of people who actually want to find love please.
I'm constantly frustrated with the main characters who hem & haw over every decision and interaction, ultimately choosing non-action and avoidance at every turn... They both could have gotten their HEA's years ago if they would just freaking communicate. Be honest about their feelings. Take action.
FREAKIN DO SOMETHING!! I'm supposed to be sympathetic to this 40-something year old guy who has written off love and relationships for 14 years because his ex left him at the altar? (That's right.. it's been 14 years. Not 4. FOURTEEN.) And I'm supposed to understand that the FMC is pregnant in an impossibly sad situation so she can't bring herself to bring her dream guy into her web of chaos? I'm sorry, no. That's not how I feel at all reading this. I feel irritated and ticked off. I thought this book was supposed to be a sweet and funny rom com? Why is the FMC (who just gave birth with the help of her dream guy) just going 6 weeks without talking to him, when she clearly wants and NEEDS his help..?? A new mom would not hesitate to accept help in that situation IRL. And a guy who actually cares for her wouldn't hesitate to show up and insert himself into her life to make sure she & the baby were taken care of during that time.
Sorry, it's just not the vibe for me. Next. -
