And who says being broke is a bummer? In our house, we decided to unplug from the internet and downsize our life. We live with no stress and the days are simple. We focus on learning, playing, and hobbies. I don't do all the hustles I used to juggle to make money, instead, I focus on family and my writing career. In downsizing the paychecks we have gone back to how we used to live on one small paycheck. Brew some coffee and join me in this new (and old) journey. We will be looking at running a home and living a good life with a small income from all aspects.

Such a great book full of practical wisdom.
Kate never fails to deliver great advice, but it's like talking with a friend over coffee. She just has good, practical advice for living below your means and reminding you what's important and what can truly be let go, in order to focus on what really matters.
Even if you've read her other books or watch her Youtube channel, this book still presents itself as fresh material that needs to be heard.
It's a book that I'll turn back to when I need a reminder or two. -
I loved this book and the lifestyle the author describes. From childhood, we are taught to make more money so we can buy more stuff ie cars, homes, vacations, etc. This book and the author's philosophy turns that idea on its head. Instead of striving for prestige, work, make enough, and be happy and grateful for what you have. Appreciate the little things.
Also what I really, really liked about this book is that the author told stories of her role models--women who lived well on limited incomes. You never hear these remarkable stories because the media and other success books focus on the lifestyles of the rich and famous and never those with modest incomes who are content. I've often heard ppl say that they can't live on certain incomes, negating the experiences of the thousands of people who do just that. I did a quick check and found that 37.2 million people in the US live in poverty. The way I see it is you can give in to those circumstances and live a life of abject misery or you can make do. If a person earns a low income, they may not have money, but they have *time* to go to the library, learn how to cook economical meals, go thrifting, walk or bike instead of drive, start a garden, clean/decorate a modest apartment/home, clip coupons etc and other low cost and free activities.
This was one of those books that I read, then went back to the beginning to read again. I am now a newbie frugalista🥰 -
It was a little rambling and jumped around a little bit, however it makes you feel like you are speaking with a friend over coffee. I loved the message that I got out of it was to cut down the budget not to live a poor uninspired life but to channel that energy, resources and money into what really brings you joy.
