Hidden by Hours is the first book in a full length reverse harem trilogy. It can be considered contemporary romance and a detective. Be aware of strong language & graphic scenes.

Hidden by the hours van Kris Vanc is een dark romance.

You have as much fun as a hundred year old, who's been dead for the last twenty years.
In my humble opinion, "Hidden by Hours" is one of those hidden gems a lot more people should discover and enjoy alongside me. It was recommended to me by the author when I was looking for a reverse harem with at least one quirky, geeky, nerdy character. And I admit: I fell head over heels for Chester and his connection with Abby. This is one of the best friends-to-lovers tropes I've ever read in a reverse harem. I'm usually one of those people talking (or yelling) at her ereader about how the characters should have talked sooner, but this one made complete sense and their story is so utterly beautiful and heartbreaking. I absolutely loved it.
Still, there is so much more to this book then the connection between Chester and Abby. Hidden by Hours is also about the search for a serial unaliver called "The Time", with a morbid interest in Abby. While Abby, Chester and their teams try to make this world a better place, an unknown man seems set to destroy it all, and still this story never feels truly dark or desolate. It's remarkable how this book still has lightness and humor, without ever losing the constant respect being paid to the victims of "The Time", and the victims in wider society.
"Tellings of the Time" combines a slow build reverse harem with steam, the search for a serial unaliver, MM and all the emotions you can ever wish for in a book. I highly recommend this book, and I'm definitely diving into book two as soon as possible. -
2,8 stars. I liked it but I couldn't really connect with the characters. I couldn't "feel" for the characters and i felt this disconnection throughout the story.
In addition, I don't like m/m in my reverse harems, so I'll think about reading the next book. -
I really enjoyed this series. It's a slow burn, so it takes awhile for her harem to come together (literally and figuratively). Abby, our FMC is strong, but also can be vulnerable when everything gets to her. Thankfully, unlike many fmcs in these kind of books, she doesn't go off and try to do stupid stuff on her own, which is a pet hate of mine.
I'm a sucker for a spicy serial killer story and was really happy I found this one. Be warned though that there is a lot of discussion about child SA, which can be confronting at times, but necessary to the story.
Now there are a lot of typos throughout all 3 books...the author knows, so don't come at her. I know some people find it really distracting, but they aren't that bad and you can figure out what's being said.
Looking forward to a Chester novella! -
Great slow burn thriller
I love fictional serial killer books and reverse harem. This gives me the best of both. Its twisty and turny and the author spends a lot of time on character development. There is spice between Abby and Remy, but its slow burn in regard to getting the harem together. Chester has lots of past trauma to work through and Beckett is a bit of an ass at first. The ending is difficult to read and I want it to be wrong! -
I love the storyline and will definitely continue the series.
However, there are a few things to mention here:
1) wrong words being used such as “obtained” instead of “detained”. This happens quite a few times and this is just one example. (I’m already halfway through book 2 and it happens there as well)
2) the word “hinky” is used soooo many times.
3) there is no harem yet and while there are some steamy scenes with the one guy she gets with, there’s very little sexual tension. I didn’t feel any build up.
I think with some editing this book could really shine -
A hidden Gem!
I found this book from a Facebook group and was immediately intrigued! If you like true crime mixed with romance this book tics those boxes!
It is a slow burn with a lot of character development which I can appreciate. Definitely some spicy scenes for my fellow smut readers but overall you are reading this book for the plot not just the spice!
Ok, ok to book two! -
so good
So good, this book has more of a suspense edge to it, although I saw the cliffy coming from a mile away. I’m loving the characters and the multiple layers of each of them. The world building is superb, and I really feel like I’m in the story. If there is a downside it’s that it needs better editing, there were a lot of mistakes, misspelling, wrong words, punctuation. -
What a great story. I loved the plot. Can’t wait for the second book book.
-
Overall an enjoyable read. Some things that could be worked through with more detail to be a bit more well rounded, as well as some typos.
-
Oh my! Serial killers, hot en and a strong female lead? Sign me up!
-
So much suspense. I loved it!

kept me hooked
It is a good book. Ends with a cliffhanger fortunately the next book is available and I will be picking it up now. -
You need to hire somebody to edit. This felt like you published a rough draft.
-
Hm.... somehow this book didn't work for me?!!
Maybe I'll try again later.... but it could also be that it remains unread-by-me forever. -
Please note that this review is written with a dash of sarcasm.
Awesome book. Really. Characters wouldn't stop talking to me. Gave me a headache quite a few times. Felt like forever before I was done with this book. Personally find all the jokes hilarious by the way.
I have an inkling I know who the killer is by the way...
...no spoilers though.
