This is a HOT, seriously HOT HEA, fictional, historical romantic western. Set in the 1880s American West, a Native American Indian and a young girl making her way in that new world.

Not for the faint-hearted, filled with some very tantalizing hot sex and a strong dominant male. A sweeping saga of one woman’s struggle to live and love. Temptations and passions. Conflicts and torment to raise your own passions and bring them alive.

If you’re looking for something to tempt your days and nights, you just found it. Enjoy!

Written mainly in British English, with Americanisms and slang from both languages.

She smiled remembering how excited she’d been watching them through the window. How surprising they’d looked to her. Wearing a baggy top that had threads and beads on it, loose trousers that had more. Their long hair braided in places.

“The noise, you have an iron horse here?”
Her father shook his head. “No. We build no tracks. It’s an engine alone to build the houses. Would you like to see it?”
It was surprising now that she remembered it so clearly that not one in the family had pulled weapons or met them armed.

Had that been stupid or genius?..... she didn’t know….

But they’d been no aggression, no animosity and the young man simply lifted his leg over the neck of the horse and jumped down in one fluid movement. His two men staying put. Her father walked him to the barn, showing his machine. The male looked around coming out again. Running his hand over the stockpiled wood.

“All deadwood?”
“All dead."
“You know this is our land?”
Her father nodded gravely. “We bought it legally from the American government, but I do and wish to respect that. I’m not looking to own, just share. Your American is good.”
“My father held a French priest captive for years. His job was to teach me about the Americans.”
“You learned well.”
“And you will be a target here. Other Americans will want what you have.” Staring at her for a while. Then back to her father. “So will other Nation. Do you understand?”

Her father gave a nod. “We wish no trouble. Only to live in peace. We are happy to pay tribute and share.”
“If it’s all taken, you won’t have anything to tribute with.”

“Is that likely?”
“It is. I will take the child and place her under my protection.”

And for the first time in her life, she recalled seeing fear in her father’s face. She stepped up to the male. “No. You either offer it to all of us or not at all.” She’d demanded, angry that he would suggest such a thing.

Crouching down level with her. The older teen gazed at her. “I’m trying to save you little one.”
“And I thank you. That is very kind, but I cannot be without my family.”
“You understand being here is dangerous. There are bad men who are ruthless out here. Could harm you, try to take you away.”
“I will not fear.” She’d told him defiantly.
He smiled openly at her. “And why is that?”
“I have you now and you will give me your promise.”

She chuckled remembering it. She’d been so confident, so sure, as he just gazed at her with those intense eyes. She didn’t know what he’d been looking for. At last, giving a nod, he stood, then looked at her father again.

“There will be a price.

    2.5⭐️

There was a lot I enjoyed here.
The FMC was likeable for the most, until after the marriage.
She knew she had been disrespected, lied to by omission, and caused grief and problems by the MMC’s choices.

    He cheated.

They weren’t having sex together, but in the Nation’s eyes they were married, and he was having sex with numerous other women in his tribe.

He was disrespecting his marriage and his wife in all their eyes.

His justification… he is a man and has needs, blah, blah.
Couldn’t wait the six years for he4 to turn 21 and be ready.

She of course needed to stay virginal and pure… Par5 of the times, I accept.
But based on that, she should not have let his behaviour be, nor should her family!

You can’t justify one part, but ignore the other.

She was treated poorly when she visited the tribe, and didn’t know why, 7nil it was thrown in her face by her father in law..

Her reaction should have been so much more, and he should have been required so much more.

The rest of the story worked, but felt too brief, incomplete, and rushed.

I accepted what else happened to her, based on the reasoning of all he had endured on her behalf.

A number of typing errors, and some grammatical ones.

This all had huge potential, and is viewed as a rough draft requiring polishing and editing, could be something hugely enjoyable.

At this point, it’s not there.

Don’t expect much regarding cultural info, life’s hardships, or politics and opinions.

This was pure fiction, and written solely for that purpose.
In that regard, it is exactly what it’s intended to be.

I would really love to see this author grow and live up to their potential.

    good

Ok I love the story in this book it was really good but I was disappointed because it needed a epilogue. Like her other book When The Wind Blows it had a great epilogue but needed more of there relationship and the sex sense needed to be played out better. This book the sex sense are hot 🔥 and you get a little better in the relationship witch is good. You get jealousy, povs, steamy, action, a strong woman so glad of that and much more.

I’m going to try to read another one of Jessie book and hope a can find the perfect one that’s got it all that I’m looking for in a book. If I could take the 2 I read When The Wind Blows and The Promise and put then together I have what I was looking for.

    Excellent story!!

Love the detail.T,,he problems are big, best t, so is the solutions. I love stories that have strong heroes and heroines. Francine is just that but also intelligent and wise. She rises to every occasion. While White Crow is a tad arrogant, ( what handsome male isn't?) he also is smart, strong funny and caring in his own way.
I have read this book several times and it just keeps getting better every time.

    The Promise

This was a good story in the end. I wish the character depth through the whole storyline was as good as the last chapter. More personable and as touching. The overall storyline was good, the errors in spelling, sentence structure and verbiage could be fixed with a good editor or reading group prior to publishing. Otherwise a good base story and quick read.
