Sacrifice is just another part of life I've come to terms with.
I thought I'd given up everything.
My soul. My sanity. My heart.
But Ivy Palmer was my greatest sacrifice of all.
To the world, she's no one to me. Nothing. The furthest thing from my thoughts.
A lie that keeps her safe.
But I'll never stop.
Protecting her.
Watching her.
Wanting her.
Even if being this close is the one thing that threatens to tear me apart.

Another awesome book from Lexxi James Sins of the Syndicate series! Book 2 Sins& Ivy picks up from from book 1 with Leo and Ivy going their separate ways but neither has been able to totally let go. Leo is basically spying and stalking Ivy with the help of the totally hot and irresistible Hunter who is Leo's top security guy and if that wasn't enough to keep Leo on the edge he also is getting ready for all the D`Angelos brothers to come together for the first time since they all split up after Antonio the patriarch and head of the family goes missing for a ceremony that will place Smoke as the head of the D`Angelo family. Its a fucking nightmare with Leo trying to keep Smoke and Enzo, one of the most dangerous of the D`Angelo brothers from butting heads and it doesn't leave much time to figure out what Ivy isn't telling them. This book answered a few questions about both Ivy and Leo's past and a big twist was revealed about who Ivy's father is and the connection she has to the D`Angelo family. This was a book full of angst from start to finish with the constant back and forth of our anti hero Leo! My feelings for this character are mixed. I get that life for him has been rocky and he has a whole lot of demons but I think he put Ivy through hell ! He has moments of greatness like helping Ivy's aunt Grace and taking care of Ivy's ex boyfriend Derrick the douche bag and his gentleness with Trinity but when it comes to matters of the heart he keeps pushing Ivy away. He did redeem himself finally but I wanted to personally kick his fucking ass. Lexxi knowns how to pull me in and damned if she didn't do it again. Between a awesome storyline and characters that are so friggin real and the one liners like : This is a hardcore mafia family, not a Hallmark movie. Direct, straightforward, and to the point . Leave the gun. Take the cannoli. Avoid horseheads in the bed at all costs.
The broken, desperate side of me craves Leo like a Kardashian craves filler. But the jerk-face is avoiding me like a woman toting a snake saying, “Try this apple.”
As always Lexxi makes me laugh! And the sex scenes steamy as always. I really love this mafia series and can't wait for Smokes book early next year! Until next time Luv's💞💋 -
Sins of the Syndicate book two is about Ivy and her back story and how she found herself in the D'Angelo family. Let's meet the D'Angelo family:
Mason- Smoke-Beast
Enzo- The King
Dante- The Devil
Mateo- The Saint
Dillion- The Player
Trinity- The Princess
The D'Angelo family is a persuasive influential connected family with many friends and enemies. Their father, Antonio, has been missing and presumed dead for two years. Their baby sister, Trinity, was assaulted with scars and PTSD and stopped speaking. Their uncle (father's brother) is trying to gain control over the family and the business. So when a stranger appears out of nowhere, questions are asked, and the vetting process is initiated but not before Ivy introduces herself.
Leo, Z, the enforcer, is the head of D'Angelo's security, and he finds himself falling for Ivy before the investigation has been completed, complicating matters. In the meantime, as we uncover who Ivy is, who her parents are, where she came from, and her past relationships, we get to meet her Aunt Grace. There is so much going on in this story that it's challenging to keep up with everything. Not to mention the novella published in Darkly Ever After; I wonder about the timeframe and where that fits into this story. Was it before or after Leo and Ivy?
Lexxi James knows how to hook you into her stories with suspense, laughter, and thrill. I need Enzo's story; next, he's an alpha-a-hole, and you know we love those men. -
Mob security and the caregiver, what could this be a work relationship with bonuses? Or a jobless future for one of them, aren’t work relationships to be forbidden? Maybe that is the pull between Leo and Ivy, forbidden fruit. Ivy down home southern girl from the Carolinas learns a bit about her past from a photograph given to her on her 24th birthday by Sin. Now, she is on her way to convince the D’Angelo mob family that she may be a sister, only to wind up employed by the family to help Trinity regain control of her life after a tragic rape. ‘Z’ or Leo has decided after the first one-nighter that Ivy is off limits. Of course, one night was really all it took for Ivy to imprint herself to him, but Leo has a job to do protecting the D’Angelo family. Can Ivy understand or will she convince Leo that what the two of them share is special. Hunter get assigned to check Ivy ‘s background and to stick as close to her as possible. Duh, my jealous, why did you think it would be good to have Hunter come between something. As Aunt Grace would say fates are aligned a decision must be made. Which will Leo choose Love or Loyalty? Will Ivy find out who her father is and if she belongs in the D’Angelo world? Read the story and find out. Thank you author Lexxi James for sending me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I could not image Lexxi would write another book that I would falls so deep with another couple/characters like Alex Drake series Alex, Madison & my PACO Robles. Instantly you want to rescue Ivy she is a sweet, noble and innocent girl that got dealt the wrong cards. Her mother was an addict but the local sheriff and his family took her in and his daughter Brooke and Ivy were inseparable. Brooke's Aunt Grace which Loved Ivy enough to try and adopted her was a hoot. Aunt Grace called Ivy her Ivy vine because Ivy had so much love she just wrapped around you like a vine.
This book started right where Lexxi left in a cliffhanger, Leo running away from Ivy because how he felt about her. Leo Moto was duty first ALWAYS, Leo Ex-Navy Seal promised monarchy presumed dead head of D'Angelos family to protect them at any cost. So Leo sacrifice the one thing he truly wants to protect the family he swore he would. The problem is Leo can't stop stalking Ivy, watching Ivy from a distance, wanting one more taste. Putting distance between them Leo moves to a cottage on the grounds and put his best security on Ivy, believing the furthest he is away from Ivy he could resist is temptation. WRONG...Now Leo is jealous of Hunter and Ivy make sure she push Leo into a jealous rage.
Ivy started this journey by receiving a picture from Sin to find the one thing she always wanted. A family...Now working for the D'Angelo's Chicago mafia by the way. Ivy is Trinity's caregiver the one person that could bring Trinity back to reality. Ivy therapy animal Mr Whiskers have more meaning to Trinity than Ivy realizes and Trinity won't let Ivy go. Ivy not knowing if the D'Angelo's are her family. Ivy decided that just being around them was enough and she was not brave enough to reveal who she may be to them. So instead of rejections she decides to keep the secret to herself. That is until the picture that she hide of her mother & Antonio D'Angelo is found on the grounds.
This books has so many twist and turns that you don't know if you like Leo or feel sorry for him. So many secrets being kept until duty/protection for the D'Angelo's. Will Leo listen to Aunt Grace and choose Love or Duty to protect the D'Angelo's will he lose the love of his life... I received this copy as an ARC to give my honest opinion and hands down Lexxi James has outdone herself with these new characters Leo & Ivy are amazing but so is Trinity, Smoke, Aunt Grace, Brooke, Hunter, Enzo I am so excited how this new series is going. -
Ivy & Leo
In 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒚𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒆, book two by Lexxi James, well things hit the fan at the end of book one for Ivy. Her secret is out and the love she believes she found is no more. Someone is pulling the strings in the D’Angelo family. Ivy had plenty of opportunities to inform the D’Angelos and Leo why she was in was staking out the D’Angelo building. Ivy learns who is pulling the strings behind the lawsuit. She makes a choice to protect the D’Angelos she has come to know. Things become rather difficult for Leo as he struggles against his promise and the love of the woman he has come to love. There is only one choice he can make in the end. Aunt Grace told him that he would have to make a choice.
I don’t know if I plan to continue this series. While I enjoyed, Ivy and Leo’s story. The ‘Sins’ part through me off. The attorney who provided Ivy with the photo, known as ‘Sin’ had me thinking that he would be one of the main characters. So I would say from my perspective the author did an excellent job in that regard. But if you enjoy a solid background story with some mystery and family drama, you might enjoy it as much as I did. -
Book 2 continues with Leo and Ivy story and shows us what real love can do.
With all the twists and turns story takes us on a journey of how Ivy started looking for her father and what she wanted from her new family. Her only goal was to be excepted and loved. But with her being quiet and not saying anything even Leo thought she was after money.
By the end of the book I was surprised who her father is. But knowing Lexx's books and her writing style, I shouldn't be. With her books you are always in for a good surprise.
And now let's talk about Leo. Can I slap him once or twice? I love and hate him at the same time. I'll give him a break because he didn't know all the facts but what a hell!? He couldn't decide what he wanted.
In the end they both got what they wanted, love, family and each other.
I love Lexx's writing style because you never know where the story is going to go, all the mystery, all the feelings. Every single character is perfect for there role. You can't go wrong with her books. -
This is the second book in the SINS of the Syndicate series. It is the amazing conclusion to Leo and Ivy’s story.
The writing is fantastic, and the storyline is intriguing, suspenseful, and steamy. It was so easy to get wrapped up into the world and characters. It is a definite page turner.
The characters are incredible, I loved them all so much. I am very hopeful that all the characters get their own stories and HEA’s.
I absolutely recommend this book and am super excited for the next story in the series! -
This was good! there were elements that weren't *great* like its a bit repetitive and very surface level but it was for sure an easy read. It has gotten me into e-books and filthy romances so thats something i guess?
Leo and ivy were a bit samey but nice. I dont really understand the whole sin/andre thing- that kinda felt like it came out of nowhere and wasn't properly explained. felt like it should have been explained over a few long chapters not a few pages. i still dont understand the whole angle with the lawsuit lol.
It was nice to see Leo and Ivy happy at the end though. -
What an intriguing, suspenseful, and steamy story! So glad it was told over two books since there was so much to tell! I can’t wait to find out what happens next with all these wonderful characters. Both books in this story pull you in from the very first page and you can’t put them down. If you love angsty romance, close family bonds, suspense, and incredible steamy scenes, you’ll love this series!

Leo and Ivy's story continues. This book gave me emotional whiplash, with Leo especially! He had his reasons, but was so back and forth with Ivy. He could be especially sweet, though, and ultimately had to choose - duty or heart.
I've enjoyed this series so far, and so look forward to Smoke's story. -
Finally I feel like the story concluded, it took 2 books to get there. I started to like and understand Leo a little more. I did enjoy the story of Leo/Z and Ivy/Olivia, there was a fine line of toxicity and angry foreplay/sex.
-
The story is decent once you can get past the emotional back and forth between Leo and Ivy. It’s exhausting.
-
Wonderful story. Fascinating and well written.

Wow

Love the ending great book on to Smoke’s book.

Do you know what frustrates me about duologies? When book 2 drops a star, and for seemingly no reason?? Ugh how frustrating, but alas, I won’t spoil it.
The plot - it’s a continuation from book 1, all the same tropes apply. This one is a HEA, but it felt rushed to me. It felt… cheap? Incomplete? I don’t know, but it wasn’t the HEA I imagined for these characters. Also, the beginning of this book confused the fuck out of me. I don’t know if you’re supposed to be able to pick this up almost as a standalone? But the repetition of facts we already know bugged me quite a lot. At least the first two chapters were dedicated to a recap that I didn’t want or need. Other than that, it was still a great, quick and easy read, with all of the tropes and angst done flawlessly. Smut was a 2 on the spice scale unfortunately.
The MC - Ivy is still my fave, I still love her and respect her and am so glad she got her HEA in the end.
The male counterpart - Leo is a dick but also a sweetheart and I love him. Those scenes towards the end…. IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW. Fml had me tearing up.
