The author isn't the best writer in the world, but this book was interesting. He had an amazing year, probably very similar to many exchange students - his teenage angst came across and he wasn't always likable, but he didn't hide anything and really laid it all out there. It makes me wish there were study abroad programs for 45 year olds!

I liked the book mostly because I'm particularly in the subject theme, might have given it a higher raiting just for that but it's not really a book I would recommend to people just for a good read.
