Despite her deepest wish to be a wife and mother it is clear to everyone in the community that Charity is not marriage material. Charity needs to change.

Charity Miller is an excellent cook, a talented quilter and a beautiful woman, yet the men in her community eschew her. Outspoken and dominant, no man can tolerate her. Charity’s mother tells her to resign herself to spinsterhood. But when she meets Gabe King, God begins to work in Charity’s heart. She has one chance for marriage and she must take it and make it work.

Gabe is mild mannered and shy. When he first meets Charity, he is enamored by her, only to learn that every eligible man in the community gives her a wide berth. Against advice Gabe courts Charity knowing that if he is to succeed, he must be the man God intends him to be.

As Charity and Gabe court, their worlds unravel as secrets about the other emerge. Perhaps there are some people, that God ordains should never marry.

Can Charity come to terms with God’s plan for her life even if it goes against her deepest desires? Has Gabe misjudged who he really is, missing the chance of love? Find out in the sweet Amish romance from Mary Lantz.

I thought for an Amish novel it was good but not as good as I usually feel about these novels!

I am hoping that the next 15 books in this box set are better than this one! Amish

"The Amish Doctor" by Mary Lantz

This was the second Book 2 in the box set of Amish stories. It was very much better than the first one.

Doctor Andy left the Church and Bethel when he went away on his Runspinga to the city. Bether was heart broken, and thought she would never see Andy again.

But Andy comes back as the Amish Doctor and finds Bethel as a widow with two small children. She married Andy's old friend, Noel who died in a car accident.

They find each other and Andy is brought back into the Church.

The Amish Widow's Second Chance: Book 3

The Amish family usually keep the older people busy with watching the children and helping with the hoouse. But as Mrs. Zook was doing all of that her heart was not functioning well enough to
still do everything. Until the doctor told her to start taking care of herself better.

That's when Harley enters the picture. He feels that Mrs. Zook is his best friend and wants to take care of her. He finally asks her to marry him and they live happily ever after!

Just be THE person GOD made you to be

I loved this book. Charity is a woman who is curious about the world, and she asks the questions to learn what she wants. When the new guy in town, a watchmaker and repairman, begins courting her, she gets advice that seems contrary to her nature, she tries to be the wife material she thinks he wants not realizing that her exuberance is what attracted him in the first place. A comedy of misunderstanding occurs between the couple, until a wise bishop explains to each of them that Gott didn't create cookie cutter people, but that He gave them different abilities and personality traits. Both Charity and her beau finally understand that being themselves is the right way to behave, regardless of the advice of best friends and family members to the contrary. Honesty...what a concept!!!
Great read, sweet and full of life lessons. Thanks, Ms Lantz, for a great book!

To thine own self be true. What happens when a shy clockmaker and a brash quilt maker find each other but are not themselves because they are taking advice from others: He (clock fixer) is told by a friend to be commanding and assertive, shy (quiltmaker) is told to be silent by her mother. Fortunately, there is a wise bishop who tells them both separately to be themselves and let God work it out. One of two novella-sized Amish romances I read today, I learned something from both so denke.

    Lovely story

What a sweet story, I loved the characters and was hoping there's a second book. This book is short but will written. Very enjoyable to read.

    Interesting characters

A rather short story that can be read within an hour or so, but the author did a great job.
