Victor Bayne honed his dubious psychic skills at one of the first psych training facilities in the country, Heliotrope Station, otherwise known as Camp Hell to the psychics who've been guests behind its razorwire fence.

Vic discovered that none of the people he remembers from Camp Hell can be found online, and there’s no mention of Heliotrope Station itself, either. Someone's gone through a lot of trouble to bury the past. But who?

Camp Hell (PsyCop, #5) Reviews

Best one yet, and probably my favorite in the series.

Poignancy—both in pathetic, telling little details like Doc Martens and safety-pin piercings and huffing whippits in the cafeteria kitchen (which, WTF, why have I never tried that?), and in the crushing sense of inevitable loss built into the story by the structure: present-day characters, twenty years ago, when they were young, scared, and more or less completely unaware of how beautiful they really were.

Or of how fragile their companionship would prove to be.

And—hayyyyyy—the sex is way better in this book, too.

It turns out a wishy-washy, neurotic hero is okay, so long as he's also the baddest badass of them all.

Even as you gaze into his wary, hooded eyes and see the skinny, Docs-wearing, desperately vulnerable youth he'd like to pretend he never was.

    Recommended.

“I'll be fast. I can make you come in two minutes."
"I can do that myself. I never get to see you anymore- I'd rather talk to you" That had to be the most romantic things anyone had ever said to me, and I went all gooshy inside.”
    😋😋😂😂

    4.5 stars for the story
    5 stars for the Audio

I enjoyed Gomez’s narration, he brings these characters to life.

In this, book 5, Vic gets to confront his past with the help of his Empath Ex-boyfriend Stefan/Stephen, i loved knowing about his past, more about his talent and Jacob's weird kink of being turned on by Vic's Talent

“I’ve got more talent than everyone on their payroll put together,” I said. Jacob squeezed me tighter. His eyes never moved from mine. “I’m so far beyond level five it’s not even funny.”
“You have no idea what that does to me.”
I was fairly sure I did. But I still liked hearing him say it.

This book was longer than the previous ones, and I have to admit at some point I was losing track of the story, thank God that did not last long.

    I loved

    - All the creepy ghost stuff, exorcisms, and Camp Hell memories.

    - The FPMP secrets coming to light and the paranoia.

    - The traitor being revealed

    description

    - The writing was great as always and the humor on point.

    - The romance was so great and had me all gooshy inside like Vic

Jacob kissed me until I thought we’d both pass out from lack of air, then he tore his mouth from mine and pressed his wet lips to my ear “I love you so much,” he whispered.

    description

The Sex was kinky and filthy dirty.

He sighed as he buried his face in my ass. His tongue slithered into my hole. “Damn, that’s hot,” I said.

    WARNING NSFW!!😉😉

    - I even liked Crash.

Overall it was a great addition to the series.

I'm officially adding PsyCop to my 'Favorite Series' shelf!
    This is fucking brilliant storytelling.

"You want to catch up with some of your old friends from Heliotrope Station? I can find out where they are."

"The ones who are still alive."

"Or not. That's never stopped you from talking to anyone. Has it?"
If I didn't have to pause and write reviews of each book, I would've binge read this entire series beginning to end in one sitting. Fiction this outstanding is worth ignoring reality for a few days...

In fact, I see many happy re-reads in my future!

    The love was deeper,
    The ghosts were scarier,
    The suspense was amazing,
The humor was awesome as always,
I was constantly wondering who was selling Vic out to the Feds...
I started to feel some measure of Vic's paranoia as the story progressed.
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!

    Victor Bayne
I had to figure out how deep the FPMP had their hooks in me. And how to live with it, or tear myself free, once and for all.
So - Vic is resorting to gathering information from dubious sources. We've got a 'keep your enemies close' situation happening with an old friend and several new faces...

In the previous book of the series,
Secrets, Vic discovered that he couldn't locate information on any of the people he knew from Camp Hell. With the help of his partner, Vic manages to track down an old friend - Stefan Russel, a high-level empath who was training at the same time as Vic. The two of them were close - in a hot and heavy while the orderlies aren't around kind of way. After Vic managed to "graduate" from Camp Hell, he never saw or heard from Stefan again.

Zig's sources discovered that Vic's ex had changed his name and started up a private practice using his empath skills for counseling and hypnosis... As in hypnotic memory regression... Their reunion gives Vic the convenient opportunity to re-live the memories he'd buried from his dark days at Camp Hell...

The flashbacks to Vic's time at Heliotrope Station were wonderfully incorporated into the story. I won't get too spoilery on you, but we had the opportunity to learn why Vic is so secretive when it comes to providing details about his talent.

    Oh it was glorious!

Vic's backstory was so satisfying and it elevated the rest of the book because the reader was given a much better understanding of his motives.

Understanding Vic's past made his relationship with Jacob so much more remarkable...

    Jacob Marks
"You coming to bed, or do you want me to leave you here?"

It was a great recliner, but I'm more of a side-sleeper. And besides, my back feels naked without Jacob curled against it.
Jacob was totally brilliant in this story - I seem to fall for this character a little more with each book. He's fucking amazing. Jacob's giddy excitement about everything paranormal is infectious and adorable. His devotion to Victor was on full display - He's willing to face off against past lovers, mysterious government agencies, and deadly vengeful ghosts... Plus the man is sex on legs! *fans self* the sexytimes in this book were delicious!

Ok, so I have a crush on Jacob, but not because of him as an individual... It's the way that Jacob interacts with Victor that makes him so amazing to read.

Vic has spent the majority of his life as a complete outsider - they thought he was crazy, then they discovered he was a medium and turned him into a lab rat. When he finally made it out into the real world, he was still in survival mode - he never really opened himself to the idea of living until he met Jacob...

Vic has finally found a safe place with this relationship. Jacob didn't question Vic's sanity when he laid out all his fears about his disappearing history, Camp Hell, and the faceless government organization following him around. In the past, Vic might have held onto all of that paranoia for fear of being institutionalized, but Jacob didn't hesitate for even a second.

I love watching Jacob and Vic work together!

They team up to face the FPMP and even find the time to track down a deadly spirit hanging out at a local hospital... Vic hones his skills in this story with the help of old friends and rediscovered memories...

There are HUGE surprises in store for the reader with this one, and I'm dying to give you spoilers - but I won't because I love you and I want you to discover all the awesomeness for yourself.

    2 disappointing stars.**Review completed January 24, 2014

    I wanted more of Jacob…
     photo 1c4d911c-c358-4e5a-825d-f81238e85a1e_zps3a9e122c.png

…and less of the ghost hunting and paranoia which were all over the place.
     photo tumblr_mueltxm5Nw1s8zm2jo1_500_zpsa1443732.gif

Granted, Vic had reasons for panicking and feeling freaked out but I got fed up and after having been bored in book 4 already, I just think it's time to reconsider. I enjoyed the beginning but after my first update a lot went downhill fast and hard. But first and foremost...

     photo tumblr_mh2ta4lp0c1rfduvxo1_500_zps4b356295.gif

As aforementioned I wanted more of Jacob. Camp Hell, however, was all about Vic here, Vic there, Vic everywhere. 85 % Vic and 15 % Jacob. Maybe I'm exaggerating but that's how I feel about it. In Camp Hell Jacob is like a persona non grata. Superfluous. Redundant. Oh, yes, he's good enough to give Vic mind-blowing orgasms but anything else that goes beyond the four walls of the bedroom seems to be irrelevant. To me he's more than a hot body, though. Hence, I just wanted more page time for Jacob but also more page time for Vic and Jacob as a couple.

Also, I find it ridiculous how incredibly naive Vic is. And to top everything off, I think that before Vic would shoot a baddie, he would hurt himself with his own gun. I got the impression that he doesn't seem overtly competent when it comes to arms. Maybe I'm being bitchy but I think if he hadn't that special ability he would never have made detective in the first place.

It goes without saying that I wasn't partial to the storyline. Honestly, I couldn't have cared less. Simply blah. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…And then all the empaths, telepaths, precocks, oops sorry, I meant to say precogs, etc. couldn't hold my interest. At all.

Isn't it kinda funny that I couldn't stop thinking about Mr. Bean when Vic was on my mind? I wonder why? Well, Vic has his own special brand of dorkiness, for sure.

     photo large_zps08f1a1aa.gif

I'm definitely a minority here and I'm very sorry that I didn't enjoy Camp Hell. While I did enjoy the first three books very much, book 4 was kinda boring already and it is very unfortunate that Camp Hell was a hellish disappointment. And finally I need to get that off my chest as well. Since I started to read this series every book is getting more expensive. Yes, I can pay the price, yet I'm not a milk cow and I think that the pricing for such short stories is quite steep. In fact, 5.14 euro for 256 disappointing pages is a lot of dough. I'm sorry but I'm not willing to pay even more for the next one. I'm done. Camp Hell goes back to Amazon for a refund of my money. I just think it's best to quit while I still have some fond memories of the series. Goodbye Vic and Jacob. It was a hot dance as long as it lasted and I wish you two all the best.

Writing tidbit: I didn't know who was ratting on Vic to the FPMP until I was about 2/3 of the way through the book. The character it turns out to be was my best friend in my 20's -- and while I was writing Camp Hell we were supposed to get together, and he stood me up! I thought, okay, buddy-boy. Here's why you don't want to piss off an author!

    4 1/2 Stars - Wacky and hilarious. A 1-class ghost series

    Book #5

The craziest, weirdest, most interesting GHOST series? Yeah, probably. ~
PsyCop can't be compared with anything else I've read in any case.

I maybe didn't love, or understand so much, in the start (two audiobooks novellas done on a vacation trip last fall) but thereafter did I start to freaking happydancing about these books and characters.

    description description description description

    LOVE, Love, love these characters
Once again a giggling fun, sweet romantic, fast paced ghost-hunting adventure. GREAT!! —
PsyCop feels just better and better for every book. This is the kind of books that grows so much when you learn to "know" the characters. (Reviews for previous parts: )

Addictive good. I know, I know... I already repeat myself.
Where will this strange adventure end?

    ***********************************************

    Chicago U.S., nowadays..

The PsyCop Victor Bayne and his hot lover Jacob Marks started quite surprising a steaming hot relationship in the first book. Now are they both love-partners, work colleagues and since a time also living together in an old cannery. I can't but be totally excited, it's so fun follow this interesting relationship.

‘... He did make me feel safe. And happy. Just looking at him made me feel like my heart was so big that my body couldn’t contain it. He was decisive, and Type A, and I had known that from the beginning. That was what I liked about him.’

     photo 4ab05f64eebfaf8bce7193a9e6b53433_zpscf49fa16.jpg

Steaming hot, inexplicably, surprisingly, outrageously wacky ...and it make sthese books unique. Maybe this isn't romantic fluffy vanilla, it's often crazy kinky and angsty intense, but always with love and strong emotions. ~ You feeeeel it and that makes it so very romantic.
‘I got my leg under me again and Jacob turned off the shower. I was going to make a remark about the capacity of our hot water heater, but Jacob flattened me against the shower wall, chest to chest, and pressed his face into my neck. More tender kisses, as if he couldn’t find enough places on me to put them.’

As in every book part are we also meeting Victor and Jacob's colleagues and/or friends —Lisa, Zigler, Crash and Carolyn. They are all quite odd and slightly strange characters but together they all make a very interesting bunch of people to follow from book to book.

    ***********************************************

In this fifth book Camp Hell is the main focus —aside Vic's and Jacob's developing relationship— a lot on Victor's old memories. Vic keeps looking for those lost teen friends from his time in "Heliotrope Station", or actually "Camp Hell" as Victor remember it. A scary time and not just filled with good and happy youth memories. But there were sweet moments as well. There at the psy-school was Vic's first "big love", the cheeky, cuddly-warm Stefan (in his best 80s style with eyeliner and hip clothes).
“I’ll be fast. I can make you come in two minutes.”
“I can do that myself. I never get to see you anymore—I’d rather talk to you.”
That had to be the most romantic thing anyone had ever said to me, and I went all gooshy inside.

     photo 62fc658d-d170-4dcc-97e7-96836a982447_zpsby2im62k.jpg

    And dear dear sweetie Victor...
He just make me smile every second page or so. Victors thoughts and inner discussion is incomparable incredible and so very adorable. He is like a thin tall sweet teen. A grown up next to forty years old angsty, love seeking Bambi on shaky (long) legs. He does so many odd things. He is either tired, sweaty, anxious, drugged, confused, has dirty sticky hands, or is just completely out of phase. Poor thing!

Thank-god for his big, manly, always horny, muscular rock to boyfriend. In the end is it Jacob, or some other of their friends, who keeps some order on Victor and his never ending adventurous life. (Though, I hope for some focus on Jacob and his motives, thoughts etc, in later books. I'm sure he loves Victor but he is still kind of a "stranger" for me here.)

    ***********************************************

Overall, I think we at last got to know more important 'stuff' this time. Some more insight into what is, and was, actually happening around Victor. Finally some answers. ...Although some circumstances and facts became even more complicated.

    More 'Victor & Co' please!
Luckily there are two more books and at least one shortie to read. Next up:

It was like watching a colorful kaleidoscope full of breathtaking pixel explosions! 🌈 Mind blown! 😱 So much, so much is happening in this book. And we have some major discoveries and revelations along the way. 😉

    1. Jacob does have some psyche abilities. Well, he’s a blocker or a shield. He can shield other psyche’s abilities from manipulating him.

    2. Jacob and Vic not only are a great domestic couple, they seamlessly work together professionally. They are Ying for other’s Yang. 💙

    3. Jacob finally succeeded in making our shy Vic talk dirty. Lol, 😁 and that was fucking sexy! 🔥

    4. There’s actually an organization out there which controls and monitors people who have psychic abilities. Talk about big brother and micromanaging! 😳

    5. We now know so much about what makes Vic this way. The traumatic and ugly experiences from camp hell, years of physical and mental abuse, that broke my heart. But it sure molded Vic into a strong-willed, caring and loving though somewhat introverted person he is today.

Oh My God! The longest audio ever in PsyCop series and I couldn’t get enough. 😍 First of all, I think it was super cool to get inside the head of a young and inexperienced Victor Bayne. It was very different from Victor from nowadays and yet very same. He did have a loving and camaraderie relationship with Stefan but it was more like puppy love. What he has with Jacob now is a very solid and beautiful relationship built on trust, love, passion and unwavering commitment. 😌 I will never get tired of seeing the relationship growth between Vic and Jacob and the storyline is as interesting and complex as ever. FPMP is on Vic’s arse and they are desperate for him to come work for them. Meanwhile, the peaceful and loving bubble of this perfect couple is being threatened by the same organization demanding Victor come work for them. Constant monitoring of their daily lives, bugs in their homes, cars, offices and never getting that complete privacy is driving both Vic and Jacob driving crazy. 😭 Meanwhile, Vic reconnected with his old flame Stefan to learn more about his forgotten past from camp hell and he’s the only one who can help him remember his purgatory from those days. Of course, needless to say, Jacob hated it and got caveman berserk in the beginning but we all know Vic is the catnip of Jacob and the only person in the universe who can make that tough guy behave like a goo in a puddle. 😂😍 It was one amazing ride to watch and see how these two prevail and overcome their obstacles despite everything and become even a stronger couple in the end. I can’t wait for the next book in the series because well, I can never get enough of Vic and Jacob. 😁 Plus, I’m loving
Jordan Castillo Price so hard for being very generous with love scenes in this book. 😉 Well, let’s just say, I unashamedly listen some scenes several times. 🔥 and as always, Gomez Pugh will always remain as one of my all time favorite narrators and the voice of Vic and Jacob. Well now, off to next adventure of Victor and Jacob! 😍

4.5 bruise me, bite me and love me hard Jacob stars
    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

    Shelf Inflicted

I really enjoyed the fifth installment in the Psy Cop series, even though it felt a little long in places. Unlike the previous stories, there is not just a criminal case to be solved. Vic is eager to find out more about his past in the psychic training facility known as Camp Hell and enlists the help of a therapist, who helps him recover his memories and also happens to be his ex-lover and fellow “inmate” in Camp Hell. He and Jacob also want to find out who is spying on them and why no records of Camp Heliotrope exist. The always-frisky Crash has a more significant role, as well as Vic’s new partner, Bob Zigler. The paranormal aspect in the story has been turned up a few notches, as Vic begins to use his abilities to their full potential. Even Jacob discovers hidden talents.

Vic’s and Jacob’s relationship continues to grow deeper and the sex is always hot and intense.

I love these guys. Even when they are having problems, there's no doubting the strength of their relationship.

I also love the spooky bits that get incorporated into the stories of this series. Great stuff!

Oh, I love how Vic and Jacob keep getting kinkier and kinkier, but also keep falling deeper in love. These boys are just lovely together! I'm especially partial to Jacob. He curls my toes.

This book brought the boys back on track for me and really helped explain the whole science of exactly what a "talent" is. It was nice to see Vic get some closure from his time spent at Camp Hell and to see him growing more fond of his PsyCop partner, Zig.

Fuck yeah, this one made my favorites shelf. On to the next episode! I love a good binge read.
Jordan Castillo Price is my hero.

  • Jenni Lea

Oh wow! This one is my favorite of the series so far!

    I LOVE VICTOR!
    I LOVE JACOB!
    I LOVE CRASH!

I LOVE JCP FOR WRITING THIS BOOK!

  • Erth

I loved learning more about Camp Hell and Victor's experiences, even though they were painful. The FPMP was spooky and interesting and I really do like that whole plot. I also adored Victor starting to come into his own, acknowledging that he'd been suppressing and downplaying his ability as a way of self-preservation. I really look forward to him become more comfortable with his ability.

I also thought Jacob's new-found ability was super cool, and I just loved his reactions.

Victor and Jacob's relationship felt more even in this one, though I do still have a bit of a problem with how Victor can't ever actually stay mad at Jacob, especially when Jacob is in the wrong. There was a fair bit of secret keeping on Victor's part in this book, but it was never for long, and he seemed more to do it in order to get his head around things, not because he didn't want Jacob to know. Which is more than Jacob could say last book...

Glad they finally talked about Crash, and *super* glad they said no threesome. I just really don't feel like it would have been a good fit for their relationship as we've seen it.

The sex continues to be hot, though I was pretty grossed out by the margarine-as-lube scene, not going to lie.

  • Heather K (dentist in my spare time)

    **4.3 stars**

I am going to be in the minority here when I say this wasn't my favorite installment in the series. Don't get me wrong, I stayed up until 1:30 am with work at 8:30 the next day to finish this one! I clearly loved it. However, I thought some of the plot elements didn't jive with what I've noticed in the past.

I agree with other reviewers who noted that Vic wasn't particularly afraid to tell others about the extent of his gift in the past. He never tried to downplay it before so I found it hard to believe that he had been trying to hide that he saw whole bodies of ghosts. That was the first detail that bugged me. Also

Despite my issues, I loved the further character development and the flashbacks to Camp Hell. Of course, I also dug the smoking hot sex in this book (Jordan Castillo Price always delivers on that!) and I will never look at margarine the same way again!

  • * A Reader Obsessed *

    Well shit.

    (Scuse my language)

I have more questions than answers after reading this. However I don't want you to take that the wrong way because this was a pretty awesome installment.

Things are starting to get real as Victor realizes that his life isn't his own. As repressed memories are delved into and new discoveries are made, how much is too much to handle? How far is too far to get the truth?

Secrets definitely get revealed, paranoia runs rampant, lives on are on the line. In and amongst the mystery, the hot relationship between Vic and Jacob is still combustible (I'm not joking. Add a sprinkle of kink and a dash of dirty for good measure). I know I remark on this for every review in this series but it still catches me off guard. Seriously.

I can't wait for more answers. I need more answers.

Ingela and Sofia? When's our next book date?

  • Erin *Proud Book Hoarder*

Camp Hell is the best of the series up until book 5. The story has always had intense bedroom play between the main characters, but it was becoming overdone to where it was drowning out actual plot. In the fifth book, I'm happy to say the storyline takes more of a focus, returning to the mystery element and the involvement of different psy agencies and their double-crossing.

The story is longer and layered without a criminal case in sight this time. Instead Vic has to take some much needed personal introspection time trying to deal with some past demons that keep haunting him. There's a lot of paranoia when Vic discovers his life is more monitored and potentially controlled than he likes, so he has to decide who to trust once and for all. There is a betrayer in the midst that he didn't see, although I did guess...kind of obvious.

Crash is more prominent (he's fun), and Jacob is still a solid supporting character who brings spice to the psych pair. It was intriguing to see some of Vic's background and meeting someone he used to be involved with. That camp certainly sounds like a brutal and torturous place!

What sex was there was hot, of course, but there were also those sweet moments that makes the pairing completely swoon worthy. Their friends are fun and damaged additions themselves, which adds to the story.

Vic is finally ready to remember things from his time in Camp Hell. So he tries to look up his old boyfriend, Stefan, who was in Camp Hell with him. When he can't find anything about Stefan, Camp Hell, or himself on the internet, Vic gets worried. Who buried Camp Hell? And him with it apparently.

When he finds Stefan, Vic is glad to see he's doing well. Stefan is a therapist now, so he can helps Vic uncover some memories of their time there by suggesting regression therapy...

I really love a good tortured character. And Vic's awkwardness already made me love him, but add in his PTSD of his time in Camp Hell.... oh yes, I was one very happy girl with this installment.

    Reread 19/12/2021

I’m a little baffled that my past self didn’t even mention in my review. Although, considering that I read the book in under 2 days the first time vs the 10 of this reread, maybe my past self would be just as baffled by my current self.
One thing we both agree on, though, is that this is the book where the series really starts to live up to its potential and it doesn’t lose its shine on rereads. Except for the number of sex scenes at the beginning. I can’t say that they don’t add anything new, because they do, the sex scenes in this series are usually more than gratuitous smut, but 3 scenes before 30% feel a little bit too much. Thankfully the rest of the book—and the series—definitely improves on that aspect.

This series just gets better and better with every book and it’s also slightly addictive.
Camp Hell feels like a turning point.

I can’t wait to see what’s in store next.

There was a lot going on in this book. We got a few flashbacks and it was interesting to see the younger Vic, how he changed over the years. He was more cocky back then.
There were a few things that didn't add up to me. But overall I really enjoyed this.

Wow, this was such an amazing installment, one of my favorites in this series. The flashbacks to Camp Hell added a lot to the story, and I loved having this window into Vic’s troubled past (even though imagining him with a mohawk cracked me up 😂).

I think the hospital ghost was the creepiest one yet, but the boys handled it really well. Vic can do exorcisms now, which is totally awesome!! It’s high time he got more assertive and owned up to his full power! Level five, my ass…

And Jacob! He’s one lucky SOB, to have gotten pretty much everything he wanted. He’s going to be impossible now. Poor Vic. 😂 That ending was perfect, though. ❤️ I can’t wait to get more of these two.

    Reread review 2021:

Somehow, I forgot the fire ghost. 🤭

Now that we're further into the series (up to book 12 now), it really is amazing to reread these and see how much this book in particular sets up for what's to come. It almost feels like a reboot in a way. It opens up this whole new levels to this world that we thought we knew. And of course it's nice to see some tender moments between Vic and Jacob - though they still spend a little too much time having sex, lol - and I'm surprised that Vic . And it's a lot of fun to read these with my BRers, Elena and Rosa. Can't wait to continue!

    Original review:

I forgot a lot of what happened in this book, and rediscovering it with Gomez Pugh's narration was a delight. Richard Burke is as annoying as ever. So is Vic's . What a snit. I did remember the fire ghost - how can you forget a fire ghost - but somehow forgot Jacob's role in it. Con Dreyfuss makes his first appearance here and it's so weird to think

As much fun as the previous novellas have been, it's great to see what JCP can do with this world and these characters when given more page time to work with. This novel kicks the whole series into a whole new gear, and it's a fun ride to go on. Can't wait for the audiobooks for the next two books. Are they out yet?

Camp Hell is the fifth in the PsyCop series and it was yet another treat!
The story starts off immediately where Secrets left off and, from the very first page, we’re taken on a engaging journey in which we learn about Vic’s present (why and by whom is he being watched) and his past (Camp Hell).

Vic has located his ex-lover -and fellow Camp Hell resident- Stefan and with sessions of hypnosis therapy, Vic tries to learn more about himself and the past he has blocked out.
Meanwhile Vic and Zig need to investigate the abnormally high death rate in the local hospital.

This story was the longest one in the series till date and the extra pages were very well used. There was some major character development going on and the plot was great. I loved how the murder case and Vic’s own mystery were weaved into each other.
I thought the hypnosis scenes were phenomenal. I could picture every fantastic detail! It made me want to start a petition to make a miniseries of this books, because: I know it would look great (if only the powers that be would not consider two men in love a menace to society).

Vic's delving in his past leads to a better understanding of his present and it was great to see him coming to terms with himself and his powers. And even though I wanted to hit him over the head a couple of times, I still love and adore Vic. I know there are two more PsyCop stories to go and I hope miss Price gives Vic the HEA he deserves. Otherwise I’ll be really, really sad.

    *spoiler alert *
The only thing I’m wasn’t too crazy about was the revelation about Jacob. I’m not quite sure what to think of it. I was okay with the fact that he was some sort of shield. I imagined him to be like a big void, sucking the psychic energy from other psychics. I also imagined that (while Jacob had to actively turn a switch to make his ability work) it was a rather passive talent. Yet in the hospital scene Jacob has very active talents in handling the ghost. That struck me as odd and next to that: him taking charge pissed me off. It might seem silly, but I felt exactly the same as Vic when Jacob 'stole his light'.
I just really hope Vic and Jacob don’t turn into a crime fighting super couple…

    *end spoiler*

All in all a great addition to a fantastic series.

Really liked this one. It was a bit long compared to the others, but for me that was a good thing. I was kind of surprised by Jacobs thing. Don't know how I feel about that yet. I kind of liked him the way he was. I liked that al the psy stuff was Vic's thing. I like the mystery in these books but I do have to say that they are very easy to figure out, so not really mysterious at all. But all the creepy ghosts sure as hell make up for that :)

Victor and Jacob were very sexy together..as always.

oh god oh god oh god, it's so god. Thank you Gomez for doing such an incredible job!

It was every bit as good as I expected it would be. Love, love Vic and Jacob. Really exciting story and great character development.

    Audio version - fantastic!

I really enjoyed this instalment, a very flowing read. Bit by bit we are getting to know more and more of Vic’s story. This, I’m doing along with him as he too needs to delve into his past to see where he is coming from.

Also enjoyed their time together which is getting more intense. JCP continues to give us new twists, new discoveries whilst leaving some questions unanswered for the future. I like where this is going whilst accepting that JCP might just turn everything on its tail.

Seeing Jacob so happy, like a kid in a candy store was so good to see.

BR with Ingela and RA - itching for the next one girls :)

Vic is experiencing, probably for the first time and being aware of it, how it feels to have someone who changes you. Or rather, makes it possible to see yourself differently, with more complexity, more ability and confidence, more everything. Given how most of Vic's life played out before becoming a cop, and after, this is an extraordinary thing. A beautiful, confusing, overwhelming, oh so welcomed and needed thing. The best part? He's embracing it, accepting it, living and wanting it more than even just from the time he and Jacob started together. Instead of yet another adversary, or even someone of whom to be wary, Jacob has Vic's back and Vic wants and needs that, and admits it.

The mystery in this one is more involved, and personal, than in any of the previous books. The whole hospital story and to what it morphed into... *shivers* so creepy. Which means so fawesomely written.

There is a lot of teasing at what is definitely a larger picture regarding the... whoever the secret organization is. That felt a bit drawn out and wobbly here and there. Maybe too many moving parts.

On the flip side, some of the things we both learn and can't yet discern about certain aspects of that larger picture, and the people involved, has me looking forward to the next story, fo sho.

Considering Vic was in his mid-twenties when he left Camp Hell, it's not at all a wonder it's taken him nearly fifteen years to arrive at the place he now finds himself. That goes for both his talents and his personal life.

Speaking of Jacob, and this ties together, I love how Vic continues to make note of his confidence and that Jacob is that confident. It fits. The family he has as support, he's in his mid-forties (fist bump, my brotha), and his experience tells him he can handle just about anything. The interesting thing is, so can Vic, but he's only now beginning to see himself in that way. Maurice, Zig, Stefan, and now even Warrick, have all told him as much.

Things between Vic and Jacob are rough at times but they always, eventually, come together. Double entendre both intended and not. ;)

There's so much more I could say about this book and this series. Just know you won't at all be disappointed if you give these a try. Jordan Castillo Price is definitely a top writer for me now.

What have I gotten myself into? I don’t know... but damn am I having fun!

I swear this series is addictive. Cause I’m not doing anything BUT Vic and Jacob! Everything else is now in the background.

Vic’s dry sense of humour is killing me. (In a good way)

Jacob has feelings! He’s actually not above getting pissed! (Also a good thing)

I’m starting to “love” poor Ziegler in his own straight out old school copper way. I would have run just as hard as he did in that hospital basement believe you me!

Hell I think I might have even OUTRUN him. Or both of them for that matter! I'll be really really high on Auracell for the rest of my life after that.

I have to say I laughed really hard at the image he and Vic storming down a corridor made in my mind.

Really, this is entertaining in a very good way. Can’t wait for the rest!
    Brilliant!!
