To enhance the experience and foster mindful observation, curiosity, and introspection, poet and nature lover Hannah Fries combines her own reflections and guided mindfulness exercises with a curated selection of inspirational writing from poets, naturalists, artists, scientists, and thinkers throughout the centuries and across cultures, including Japanese haiku masters, nineteenth-century European Romantics, American Transcendentalists, and contemporary environmentalists. Accompanied by beautiful forest photography, and a foreword by Robin Wall Kimmerer, author of Braiding Sweetgrass Being with Trees is a distinctive gift that invites frequent revisiting for fresh insights and inspiration.

Being with Trees: Awaken Your Senses to the Wonders of Nature; Poetry, Reflections Inspiration Reviews

  • M.Marie.S.

    Beautiful images and poetry.

  • Wendy

The title of this book says it better than any review I could write. I'm the reader, not a writer.

  • Naomi

Filled with great poems, quotes, and art work. A very enjoyable and peaceful read.

Edited to include the following: I went to go read what I thought was Fries' previous book Forest Bathing Retreat because I enjoyed this one so much and was sorely disappointed to find that it's the same exact book.

I don't mean that hyperbolically. Each page, from the text to the photos, were exactly the same. The only difference is the damn title; her website offers no explanation to why there was a change. FBR was published back only in 2018 so it's not like it had been a while and they wanted to update the content.

It's still 4 stars because I enjoyed it a lot but again, I'm incredibly disappointed to have been duped.
