Adventures with Finn and Skip: Bird Reviews

What a lovely [and amazingly illustrated] picture book that teaches an unexpected lesson. Parents will love the lesson and the simple way it teaches and kids will love the story and the illustrations. I loved this and found it really well done.
I will say here that the main character is an odd looking man [what I thought was his mouth was his eye and isn't until later when he meets other people that I realized I was wrong] and it weirded me out [because I am a weird adult], but I am sure kids will just roll with it. It absolutely does not take away from the book though and I am sure only adults like me will find it odd. ;-)
Thank you to NetGalley, Brendan Kearney, and DK Kids for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review. -
The 4th in Brendan Kearney’s picture book series has the worthy aim of introducing young readers to environmental issues and what they can do to improve things but it’s heavy-handed and some of it would go over the head of the target readership. Also, although I liked Kearney’s stripped down illustrations, I must confess that I thought the swans were geese. Ultimately I applaud the intent but the execution didn’t work for me here.

Environmental activist Brendan Kearney delivers a Finn and Skip book to help children learn about the contribution that birds make, and how climate change creates problems for birds.
As always, kids receive plenty of ideas about to help create a safer environment.
The tone, like Brendan's text and illustrations, is welcoming and encouraging.
FIVE STARS of admiration! -
Finn and Skip are back and this time they are taking flight and looking at the environment from a bird's eye point of view. Provides great learning about climate change and what you can do to help. And the artwork is so cute!

While I thought the illustrations were beautiful, the overall writing lacked a tone to draw a reader into the story.
