At twenty-four, Jane Lloyd is a widow and the mother of a young son. As Lady Jane Kingman, the eldest daughter of an earl, she could have married a peer of the realm, but she followed her heart and chose a commoner, a soldier, who perished in the war. In her grief, she ignored society for years, but as a new season begins, one her sister plans on dominating, Jane feels a restlessness, a need for more in her life. She attempts to rejoin the ton, only to discover that she’s been virtually forgotten.
When Joel and Jane meet, there is more than immediate chemistry between them, but nothing is simple when many would betray a friend or a sibling to get ahead. In Nearly a Marquess, loyalty and love are put to the test.
Nearly a Marquess (Sons of Barons, #2) Reviews
-
“ Nearly a Marquess” by Jane Shoup is the second book in this entertaining series, Sons of Barons.
Again, the author continues to introduce a new set of
likable the characters. My favorites were Jane, Joel, Jonathan, Lakely, Charlotte, and Dab.
As you might expect, there was room for improvement in some character development for some of the characters such as Lakely.
Without a doubt, this was a fun read
Like the first volume in the series, the pace of the book made it a very easy read with another satisfying ending.

3.5⭐️
Nearly a Marquess by Jane shoup was my first experience at this authors work.
It was a likable regency with characters to love and hate. It’s a clean romance that true to regency novels. I enjoyed it very much and love the MC. The sister played a remarkable role in the story along with the brother. I’d only wished the author would of gone deeper or started sooner telling the siblings tale.
Those parts felt a little rushed in the story. But over all I thought it was good. And I’ll definitely read another of her novels.

Never The Twain🐺🐺 Shall Meet!💘
Identical Twin brothers🐺🐺, sons of a Baron, are featured in this interesting and fun CLEAN Historical Late Recency Romance 💕.
London 1820.
Joel🐺, older than Jon🐺 by eight minutes , learns he has unknowingly also become a Marquess, Lord Larrowford, with a country manor 🏰on 1700 acres! Their late father purchased the title from the 👑Crown when the previous owner died, leaving no heir. Turns out they are very distantly related, though. Their father didnt get a chance to tell them before he died, and it took a few years before the title transfer was processed.
Two young daughters of an Earl, are as different as night and day. Jane💃, the older, is a widow💔 with a young son, Arthur👼. Her sister Alexandria💃💋, is a self centered, narcissistic young woman who is in search of a title, not love 💘 or a good man.
Y'all know what identical twins🐺🐺 sometimes do!

The only thing I disliked about the book was the modern casual language used in the dialogue. It didn't fit with the historical nature of the novel . -
This is the second book I have read from this author and I was not disappointed. I found this to be a fabulous read. The story of two sisters and twin brothers, their families and friends. The plot and subplots were written with realistic feelings and emotions. It was easy to relate to the characters. The trials they faced were so different. Yet they were lessons of life that made a person better. This book is well written and shows a sensitivity in relation to family dynamics that is admirable. I adored reading this book and highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

Nearly a Marquees is Book 2 in the Sons of Barons by Jane Shoup. I enjoy Regency romance stories, but, although the story is during the reign of King George, this book is so much more. Lady Jane is a widow with a younger sister, Lady Alexandria, who is less than kind and about to begin her first season. I enjoyed the book from page 1 through the last page. The characters are believable and I almost thought I knew them. The story had revenge and redemption. Friendships lost and found with a perfect ending. I am looking forward to reading Book 3. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

It was nice to follow up with Alice and Nigel from the previous book and the rest of the friends.
I was especially excited to read Lakely's story. She is such a dynamic, brave and fun character. I wanted to know who she ends up with. Her reveal is so her, direct and full of anger. I wouldn't have expected anything less of her.
I liked how all the relationships are portrayed in a healthy way. The women are given freedom and choice. However, the insta-love was a little off putting. But then again they talked a lot and had lots in common. -
I loved this story of two twins who gain titles and start looking for wives. The oldest by eight minutes
is the marquess and the other is a baron. Joel meets Lady Jane Kingman, widow, at a cotillion and they hit it off. They have so much in common. She also has a five-year-old son. Her husband had died at Waterloo.
Alexandria is selfish, vain, and petty. She is having her first season. She steals and throws away her sister's invitation. Jane believes she has been forgotten.
This is a clean and beautifully written story. The characters seem very realistic and wonderful. Joel and Jonathan have some amazing friends. The novel is easy to read and so much fun. There is a lot of laughter and happiness. I can't wait to read her next novel. I so enjoy good authors.
I received this Arc from Book Sirens and voluntarily reviewed it. -
I received this ARC book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. This was a fun read. A regency romance with the kind Jane, a young widow, and a twin who has just received a new title of nobility. There are other fun characters, such as Johnathan the other twin and Jane’s snotty, prideful sister Alexandria who does anything she can to get in the way of her sister Jane’s future happiness. There were characters I would like to get to know more of in the future…Charlotte, and Lakely. I will definitely be reading more of her books.

Second book in this entertaining series. The Stewart twins, Joel and Jonathon, take center stage. When a lovely widow catches the attention of the new Marquess of Yarrowood, her jealous sister adds an interesting character’s dilemma. I received this book at no charge from BookSirens and the author, but all opinions are my own.
