While trying to get Ruby out on bail, She-Hulk discovers a mysterious Expo being held in L.A., but a swarm of zany villains have been sent to slow her down. But for She-Hulk, nothing will stand in the way of true justice – even if it means facing a villain who believes mazes and games should only end one in murder.

I thought I'd check out NetGalley for the first time in ages and found a bunch of new Marvel books and now Ihave plenty to keep me busy.
They gave me this book in return for an honest review and I honestly loved it!
I marked it as finished but I spent 5 hours or so playing through this book, getting murdered, getting sent off into another book(!) and trying to get the many different achievements. I'll definitely be back again for more tries. It was a ton of fun with lots of fun references to the various She-Hulk runs over the years and fourth-wall breaking from Jen.
It's well worth picking up as there is tons of replay value and tons of different endings to check out - I managed to win twice but keep getting the same ending and I've managed 28 different achievements with dozens left to go!

This book was SO fun. I recommend you grab a cup of tea, a pen and whatever paper is to hand, stick on some music (preferably Marvel to get you in the mood) and prepare yourself for an adventure with the greatest attorney at law in town!
Here you fit into the role of her assistant, helping her crack the case of an accused Ruby against a murder she may (or may not) have committed. Through a reader decisive plot, you chose the direction. You make choices as to how the book will go and ultimately decide how it will all play out. It lends itself beautifully to multiple play throughs (or read throughs) and can provide hours of fun. I’ve just finished and I immediately want to do it all over again!
It’s a must for every Marvel fan, lover of she-hulk or those wanting some entertainment for the evening. It’s super fun to play, so grab a dice and a pen and you’re ready to go. Don’t have a dice? I used an online dice roller which worked just as well so there’s no excuses! This was my first experience of a book like this and it’s definitely wetted my appetite for more! What a great idea. I absolutely love it!
Thank you to Aconyte books for the NetGalley copy in return for my honest thoughts and review.

Having previously read and enjoyed the previous Marvel Multiverse Missions book, You Are (Not) Deadpool, I was excited to try out the second book in the series, She-Hulk goes to Murderworld, especially now that the TV show is coming to an end and I need more She-Hulk in my life.
Just like in the other book in this series, She-Hulk goes to Murderworld does not put you in the shoes of the titular hero. This feels like something of a risky choice, as I imagine most readers want to play as the comic book heroes, fighting the fights and doing all of the cool stuff, but this series puts you into the role of a regular, ordinary person in the Marvel Universe who gets swept up in an adventure you're not equipped to be dealing with. And this is a move that I ultimately think works for the better; especially in this book.
The Deadpool book was enjoyable, but it also felt a little odd at times thanks to the reader having to pal around with a character that's extremely weird. This time, it feels like it works a lot better as She-Hulk is a more grounded and serious character than Deadpool; even if she does break the fourth wall and comment on the game mechanics a few times.
This more serious focus also comes into play with the story, as in the other book you were running around trying to figure out what was going, often left wondering why you were doing things, other than simply 'because Deadpool is telling me I have to'. Here, you're a paralegal working on a murder case with She-Hulk, and what you're doing makes more sense. You're searching for clues, interviewing witnesses, and following the trail to try and get your client freed and find the real killer.
But, this being a She-Hulk book, it's not your average procedural, and the very first things that happen in the story show that off, as you and She-Hulk get attacked by a vampire cow, Hell Cow. Despite the more serious tone of the book, this first encounter shows us that this is still going to be pretty damn weird too.
The book uses the same kind of mechanics as the other one, so if you've played that it'll feel familiar to you. If this is your first go round at one of these books there's enough explanations and help to begin with that you don't feel like you're too overwhelmed when things kick off for the first time.
I hope that these books prove popular, and that we get more of them. These first two have been really enjoyable and intriguing, and I'd love to see what characters the team at Aconyte would do for next. With so many weird and wonderful characters in the Marvel Universe, this feels like a series that could go on for a while, and do some great things. -
I don’t remember how this book came into my view, but I love all things Murderworld. It’s a very niche appreciation. Also, I’m a big player of (video game) interactive fiction and have always wanted to try a game book, but the standard fantasy fare typically found among the printed medium I’ve seen never really appealed to me. This seemed to be an excellent mix of my interests.
I’m a hardcore comics reader, but haven’t spent a lot of time with She-Hulk, and this book made me realize that maybe I should see what’s else is out there for her. I love a good superhero investigator mashup.
I kept my time with the book to patio reading. At the end of the day, when the weather/mosquitoes aren’t too oppressive, my wife, kid, and I like to sit on our patio and read. It’s a great way to decompress before having to run around again making dinner. Throw in a glass of wine for the adults, and a juice box for the kid, and you got yourself a slice of heaven right there.
I really enjoyed the book. It’s a great romp and I felt like I never really blundered into any “gotcha” decisions sometimes rife in the old school choose-your-own adventure books. The puzzles here were an unexpected twist, and they managed to avoid feeling like tedious busywork.
The note taking—again not having tried a game book before—was also an interesting wrinkle. Though, it sometimes felt like the stat tracking came a little too fast and furious. It felt like there were pages and pages where I couldn’t put down my pencil. Nonetheless, it’s a familiar game mechanic in a fascinatingly new format (to me). The thing about those old CYOA books is that they have no “memory”. They can’t track player decisions beyond some basic pathing changes. A game book like this can mark a decision the reader made ages ago, and then call back to it on command. It’s something video games have been able to handle for years, but again, there’s something novel about doing it with a novel.
I think I’ve now got an easy gift this holiday season for a bunch of people in my life. -
I died.
Just a tad disappointed since there was really nothing I could do about it. The rolls were too high and I didn’t have anything on my power stat. Barely got it to 2. Seems like that’s a pretty important stat in this story since you’ll just fail regardless of rolling. (Roll a 9 or higher with one die… farg).
Regardless, a fun experience that goes even deeper into the genre of “Choose Your Own Adventure.” Don’t remember having this much fun with a book like this since I read Zork as a kid.
I’ll certainly give it another go and even considering picking up the physical editions of both this and the Deadpool book by the same author.
The ebook version was very nice, though. All the pages were linked to take you right to the page you chose. Really convenient. Just grab a dice app (or real dice if you’ve got them on hand), get a doc to keep notes, and give it a go!
Thank you Aconyte Books and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for a honest review.

This was so much fun. Once again the author does it again bringing us this brilliant story/game book that gives us hours of fun. I started this book in the afternoon and on my first go I got so near the end. I got to the boss man and the dice rolls let me down darn it. Gutted but I will definitely be giving this book another go. Its so easy to play even on the kindle. Which was how I payed it. The story was fantastic and very engaging. I definitely fell into it's spell and when playing I really felt like I was in the book. As there was a brilliant sense of atmosphere and tension. I had so much fun. I especially loved that this edition was less brutal in knocking off points when you lose rolls etc. Even if you lost a few fights it was easy enough to get to the end. Did I cheat at all? Well that would be telling ;p. It was a very late night as I wanted to finish the game/ book before bed so I just keeped guessing at the puzzles nope, nope, yes!!. This book flowed so well and I only ended going round in circles once. I little bit of advice ignore your gut feeling as I'm sure the airlock won't make you sick. I can't recommend this book enough. If you love marvel or tabletop games then this book is definitely for you. It would also be good for your game made teens. Also if you loved those choose your own adventure books you definitely need this book. At least you won't keep dying all the time lol.
Only the highest of praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating not just a fantastic game but also a brilliant story. I am really looking forward to the next instalment . I have my fingers crossed for a thor or sif game book. Wink wink nudge nudge. -
I will start off by saying this is not my type of book. It is more of a roleplaying, adventure game. The author starts by setting you up as the paralegal partner to the She-Hulk. The story starts off in California’s Bay Area with the murder of a tech guru. One of She-Hulk's former advisories is set-up to take the fall. It is up to She-Hulk to figure out who is behind this.
The author has a partnership with the reader. You jump around through the books based upon either your choice or the results of fights you had with one of the villains or monsters. As you wander back and forth through the book, more and more is revealed. But unlike a mystery, you are more interested in getting the path correct than solving the who-done-it aspect. You get the path right and the murderer is revealed.
The writing is fairly decent-nothing which you will want to memorize. As I was reading and going through the maze of chapters, I was realizing that it was not so much an intelligence test, but something which when you learned the trick, you could figure out what to do next. So there was very little cerebral stimulation. Being a retired programmer, it was similar to debugging programs. Is it a bad book, no, just not my type of book.
See
my book blog for my notes on this book. -
I never realized how fun a Marvel choose your own adventure book game could be until I got this. With the She-Hulk Disney+ Series coming out, when I saw this on NetGalley I obviously had to request it. I had so much fun with this book! I’ve only done one play through so far, but I’m definitely going to go through it numerous times (especially because I got ZERO STARS 3 on my first go through).
My only note is reading this on a Kindle wasn’t the best idea, but that’s on me for bumping the screen and going to the wrong page at times. Besides that, it was super fun!!
I’d like to thank NetGalley and Aconyte Books for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was the first book in which I was the one to die. And it most likely won't be my last, because it was just so much fun.
I loved being a part of the story and getting to join She-Hulk on this adventure. (Even if I did end up getting us both killed). You truly don't know what to expect when you turn to the next part. Getting to play it as a game gave it so much more than having had it as a novel you'd read straight through.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

She-Hulk Goes to Murderworld, a Gamebook by Tim Dedopulos, published by @aconytebooks
This is a gamebook, which is a book that looks like an ordinary prose novel, but you make the decisions as you go along in order to decide the path travelled and the eventual outcome!
You'll need to sit down with a dice and a notepad (or your phone with the right apps open) and then you head off alongside She-Hulk on a murder investigation.
I haven't played one of these since I was a kid, so it was a lot of fun to be thrown back into my childhood, and this book would make a perfect gift (or stocking filler) for any young Marvel reader!
Plus it has cool cover art by none other than @davidnakayama! -
“She-Hulk Goes to Murderworld” by Tim Dedopolus is a choose your own adventure type of book that is reminiscent of the Goosebumps novels that I enjoyed when I was young. I enjoyed playing as Jen Walter’s assistant as we try to find out who is framing Ruby Thursday. I had fun doing the puzzles and the challenges. Just make sure you have pen and paper handy, and a die. Finished the story for my first game and I want to discover the other endings as well. Overall, a fun read.
Thank you Aconyte, Mr. Dedopolus and Netgalley for the free ARC copy in return of my honest review. -
I'm still amazed how good these modern adult 'Choose your own Adventure' books are :D From the start, the action is all go, with a crazy encounter in a park - where I found myself as reader to be just as confused as the player-character!
She-Hulk is written so well, she'll be immediately recognisable to fans of the recent show and the original comics. It's great to see a comparatively less famous superheroine getting her own lead role at last.
I'll be recommending this for those who may not quite get on with the ultra-insanity of the recent Deadpool title! -
Just so much fun to be on an adventure with she-hulk and trying to pick all the right paths 😂
An interactive choose your own adventure book this allows you to not only make choices but also has role play elements that will leave your fate to dice rolls. I think that was my favorite part, there was adrenaline and excitement when you win the mini battles. You feel the steaks even when you’re just reading. -
Really fun gamebook
-
She-Hulk goes to Murderworld is a you choose adventure combined with game elements that is rife with mystery. The reader plays as Jennifer Walter’s new personal assistant who helps She-Hulk decide on each course of action as someone is setting up Jen’s client and former villainess, Ruby Thursday to take the fall for murder. The book is written in a way where the routes to the end is numerous and the toll of the dice adds an element of unexpected fun. Unique and interesting, the book is a fun and entertaining read. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from NetGalley.
