Scooby-Doo! Museum Madness Reviews

Since watching Scooby-Doo with my daughter many years ago I have always been a fan (I have a largish cut out in rubber on the wall of my landing!) so when I spotted this book I had to have it to give her as a present (just right for a 40-year-old). But I chose to read it first (value for money).

In this tale, Scooby-Doo and his pals from Mystery, Inc., Daphne, Shaggy, Velda and Fred, are invited to a party at a big museum in Cairo. The party was to announce a new exhibition, featuring the tomb and relics of the ancient Egyptian king, King Shaggunkamen!

The museum curator Lotta Kayre (great name!) told the guests to enjoy themselves but to beware of the curse of King Shaggunkamen. While the guests enjoy the hospitality, Lord Dusty Diggs, a famous Egyptologist, and Pierce Deere, an artist, complain about the exhibition for one reason or another.

Meanwhile Shaggy drops a spring roll, which rolls into the then closed exhibition area. He and Scooby crawl under the ropes to retrieve it and that starts a series of weird events that seem to prove that there really is a curse of King Shaggunkamen. Suddenly all the gang are involved in the behind the scenes action which finds them imperilled by Iona Bunch, who initially wanted to buy the artefacts for herself, and her bodyguards, who are made up as mummies.

Fortunately, as we would expect, Scooby and his pals prove to be too resourceful for Iona to succeed and the baddies are eventually captured in some urns. So, the following day the exhibition is launched with Lotta publicly thanking Scooby-Doo who replies, inevitably, with 'Scooby-dooby-doo'!

    A fun, well illustrated read.

    We just love
Scooby-doo and we borrow as many books and comic books as we can find. This is a fun mystery with an ancient Egyptian theme and a scary mummy, of course. This book was fun to read aloud, but I think it would be best suited for young elementary school-age children who enjoy reading comic books and graphic novels.

My weakness for Scooby-Doo is proven for my love for this short Scooby-Doo tale about a museum exhibit in Cairo disrupted by the mummified remains of King Shaggunkamen coming to life! But luckily, the Mystery Inc. gang is on the case!

    Really, really cute!

Not the worst Scooby Doo book ever, although they're all extremely silly. We have a weakness for the Gang at our house.

  • Mary Ann

    Quick read for little readers.

I loved Scooby Doo as a kid so it's fun starting to find the picture books to read with Miss 2. This one involves the Mystery Inc. gang attending a museum opening, there are scary mummies and various hijinks before they reveal who has been behind the plot.

kind of lame because there is really only one potential criminal introduced. and of course, it's her. kind of long winded for a children's book

Great book for teaching inferences! Follow the clues, characters' motives, and suspects to solve the crime. Can use the pictures as clues too. Love it for teaching inferencing in reading OR as a mentor text for writing mystery fiction.
