And then they get turned upside down.
Pineapple upside-down cake has nothing on them.
M.K. can bake anything for her patisserie—mouth-watering pastries, delicious macarons, buttery croissants. But a broken heart has left her hiding in the kitchen, dodging well-meaning match-ups, rather than trying to find Mr. Right.
Clay thinks he has everything he’s ever wanted. Life is easy, fun; relationships are kept casual. Ms. Right is out there, but Clay’s not fussed about finding her.
And then, the non-weddings of their best friends, Flora and Dean, bring M.K. and Clay together.
M.K. falls hard—fast, furious, sickening-sweet Instalove. To the happy amazement of all, so does Clay. After a romantic first date filled with cats and cupcakes and spiteful ex-girlfriends, M.K. and Clay are meant to be together.
But then things get complicated.
An old girlfriend arrives and wants Clay to play Daddy with their son, a baby Clay never knew existed. M.K. doesn’t want to lose Clay, but babies have never been part of her plan, especially someone else’s.
There’s no recipe for this.
Beautifully Baked Reviews

“How can you not love a baby?” Ruthie demands. “I’m in love with Imogene’s belly, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the little lump inside.”
And with this I give this book a big fat one star and a loudest boldest FUCK YOU ever!
Because her “friends” force her to “realise” every woman LOVES babies. Even the one like h who is very clear from the beginning she wants no part in motherhood, the “friends” will manage to make her realise she really does. Her mommy issues are just in her head. She’s a woman who should have motherly instinct and here they’re pressuring her to except the H’s baby with ANOTHER FUCKING WOMAN, her own life and feelings be damned.
Fuck you author. FUCK YOU. Woman are not soft, fuzzy and mother instinct only. They are human. Sometimes they DON’T want kids. They love kids, but don’t want them. They tolerate kids and don’t want them. They pure hate kids AND DON'T WANT THEM. FUCK YOU FOR INVALIDATING A WOMAN’S FEELINGS. JUST BECAUSE this fake friend of h is in love with someone else’s baby that’s logic enough to demand h does too? Or that gives her the right to ask “how can you not love a baby?” BECAUSE SHE FUCKING DOESN'T WANT TO YOU DUMB BITCH! -
Just not feelin' the lurve on this one. Mainly because this heroine clearly did not want kids and yet gets bullied into accepting the hitherto unknown offspring of the hero.
Not all women want kids and the whole "Every woman loves babies" scene is patently ridiculous. The h has neither the lifestyle or the patience for a baby and even more importantly, babies don't stay babies.
Kids grow up and for many people, kids are a HUGE challenge that require a lot of sacrifice, commitment and dedication FOR YEARS. I can't respect a romance that has the h marginalizing her need to come first with her partner because her lust and her friends pretty much tell her she is not a 'real woman' if she doesn't jump on the baby bandwagon.
There is no possibility of a long term HEA here, the h is sublimating her very valid need to be the primary focus of any romantic relationship she has in the face of the H's demands that his child come first.
This will not work long term, the h is going to resent it and the kid is going to suffer for it. Especially when you consider that the H's past is a never ending trip to the new and shiny Lovely Lady Buffet and the only reason he really latched onto the h is because he lost his best guy friend lady lure and then he had a baby to contend with - plus the sex was pretty good for him with the h.
Now tho, as this H has all the emotional maturity of a speck of moss on an upturned rock, the h's eventual resentment is going to lead him to use his shiny new cute son as a lure to feed his Lady Buffet Sampling Deelite Appetite and that isn't an outcome I would wish on anybody.
There were cute parts of this book. But the overall trite tropyness and the insistence that the h give up a major part of her beliefs to raise another woman's child at great personal sacrifice of her own dreams, (she said multiple time her bakery was her baby,) left me feeling depressed and sorry that I felt the urge to rubberneck on this one. -
I came here to projectile vomit via review, but Kiki and boogenhagen have ably handled it.

I was really hoping Ms. Kerr would write a story about M.K. and Clay, what a great story it is! If you read Perfectly Played, and loved Dean and Flora's story you will be pleasantly satisfied to see Clay and M.K. find each other and fall in love. Their story starts back in Las Vegas in their POV during the weddings that never happened and continue on from there. This was well written and with a sweet little twist that could tear this beautifully baked couple apart. Hopefully Ms. Kerr will settle Ruthie's wild side and she finds a HEA in yet another book to what was supposed to be a stand alone. I think she deserves love too.

Having read "Perfectly Played" before its companion, I liked how "Beautifully Baked" started off with Flora and Dean's non-weddings - but from M.K. and Clay's perspective, of course - and continued to show glimpses of already familiar events throughout the story.
I knew I already loved M.K. and Clay before I even started this story, so I was rooting for them from the get-go, even if it was no secret that they'd get their HEA.
But... all those near-misses in the beginning! Gah! :D And I particularly enjoyed the close friendships between M.K. and Flora, and Clay and Dean respectively.
An unexpected yet absolutely delightful crossover with Holly Kerr's Oceanic Dreams story "I Saw Him Standing There" added an extra layer of happy for me. (Perfectly played, Ms. Kerr, so to speak... ;) )
Now... how about Adam's story? -
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Beautifully Baked by Holly Kerr is the sequel to Perfectly Played, and it's a fantastic book.
Can M.K. put away her issues about wanting a baby to be there for Clay and his son?
M.K. Donnelly
M.K. Donnelly is a friend of Flora's and was at her wedding in Las Vegas. M.K. is very different than Flora as she loves to bake and is more into the structure and planning of everything. No kidding, M.K. almost gave herself an ulcer trying to find her current house. She is an excellent character despite all those flaws. Although, maybe she has been rebelling against her mom a bit too much.
What I like about M.K. is that despite everything that has happened in her life and believing that marriage isn't worth it, she is thinking about it with Clay. She is an independent person that started her own business and wants what is best for herself. What I dislike about her is that she didn't take time to stop and seriously think about why she believes the things she does.
Clay McFadden
Clay McFadden is the VP of Marketing at his uncle's business and all-around playboy. That is until M.K. stepped into his life. After that, it's all been about her. He is a great guy who loves baseball and is trying to be a good person, but he never thought about becoming a parent himself. Well, until his son was literally dropped into his life by a girl that he went with one time. Clay has taken on fatherhood as best as he can, and he loves it. Yet, did he maybe let M.K. leave a bit too soon?
What I like about Clay is that he turned his life around when he found out about his son and wants to raise him even if that is by himself. The one thing that I dislike about him is that he could have fought for M.K. at least asked her why.
Five Stars
Beautifully Baked by Holly Kerr is a great fast read romantic comedy that will surely make anyone laugh out loud. It's an excellent book in that M.K. finds herself doing something that she has never thought that she was doing. Will it help her in the end? I am giving it five stars and recommending it to all rom-com readers.
Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of Beautifully Baked by Holly Kerr.
Until the next time,
Happy Reading!

I absolutely loved this book, it is the perfect follow up to Perfectly Played. I would even go as far as to say that I would love a third book in this series.
Holly is a superb author and I'm yet to read a book which I haven't enjoyed. Holly grips my attention from the beginning and keeps me engaged in each and every page.
This book I have managed to read in just one sitting and I adored it. I couldn't put it down, I was too desperate to know what happened next. The chemistry between the characters is evident in this book and I have found them really likeable.
This is a wonderful story filled with a small cosy little town, family and love. There is nothing bad I can say about this gorgeous book.
This is a superb book which gets five shiny stars from me. I absolutely loved it, a huge thank you to Holly for the copy of this book to review. -
This book tells the story of M.K. and Clay's romance. We met them in Perfectly Played, and this book runs alongside that one, with glimpses of the Dean and Flora story.
M.K. and Clay fell for each other fast, once they reconnected after Vegas. Everything seemed to be going really well until Clay gets surprising news - he is a father. This kind of lifetime commitment is not something he'd expected so soon, especially not with someone who isn't M.K., and it throws their relationship off balance.
The characters in this story are fun to read. Both M.K and Clay need to communicate better, but they work it out in the end. A sweet, fun read. -
At first I was a bit restless having us go back to the beginning where the first book started, but after hearing that there hadn’t been a sequel planned until readers asked, then it all made sense. I loved getting an in-depth look at these two beloved characters from the first book. I wouldn’t be upset if a third book came out with Ruthie (and maybe one of Dean/Clay’s buddies mentioned in here). ;) There were definitely unexpected twists and turns in this book. I really enjoyed the storyline and the familial emphasis.

This is book 2 of the series but runs parallel to book 1. Each can be read as a stand alone. I had a harder time reading this one than I did book 1. It took me a bit longer to get into it. After stepping away for a bit, I came back to it, and was able to settle down to finish it. This is written as a multi pov with a HFN ending.

A sweet romantic comedy...
Beautifully Baked is the sequel to Perfectly Played and is Clay and M.K.'s story. They are great characters that know they are meant to be together but what will happen when his old girlfriend shows up with his baby? The story is sweet, emotional, and makes M.K. think about what she really wants from life and from her relationship with Clay. Will their love survive this?

Clay doesn’t do relationship. He likes women and women like him but he is against commitment. M. K. an de her best friend Flora promised at seventeen that they never will get married. But when Clay and M.K. meet in Las Vegas something clicked between them. Are they ready for a real relationship? Can they fight their demons and realise that love is wort fighting for? A sweet love story.

This book ties in nicely with Perfectly Played, giving readers a different perspective on the weddings that didn’t happen for their friends. I love getting a story for M.K. and Clay. What a wonderful continuation of characters that are so beloved! I hope there are more to come! I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review.

A sensational partner to Perfectly Played, this romantic and comedic novel takes both serious and lighthearted issues and weaves them into a perfect dessert -- not too sweet, but just right. Love the author's writing style, enjoyed the thoughtful characterisation, and can't wait to read more.

Poor M.K.! She has an emotional vampire for a mother. Fortunately she has wonderful close friends.
Then she meets Clay and they turn each other inside out!
Good story line
