Charred black from years of his own torture.
An urge to fill the empty spaces that I was responsible for when I left him.
He thought I deserved the same wrath he endured all those years ago.
I came when I was summoned.
Unaware that my past was waiting behind closed doors.
One look into those eyes that wore dark shades of fury, and I knew this was part of his plan.
With time, I started to see fragments of the boy I once knew.
Before long, he was a man holding the key to my heart.
Now that I’m ready to give him all of me, he’s gone and all that’s left is the broken pieces of my shattered heart.
Book Two of the Fallen Kingdom Duet. It is recommended to read Book One, His Hollow Heart, first.
Her Broken Pieces (Fallen Kingdom, #2) Reviews
-
Her Broken Pieces is the conclusion to Cal and Bella's epic love story. This book picks up right where His Hollow Heart left our hearts - crushed and not knowing what fate had met Cal.
Bella knows in her soul that she will be reunited with the one who has never been far from her heart. She would know if he was dead. Despite everyone telling her as much, she refuses to give up. He wouldn't give up on her and she will move heaven and earth... for him. What should have been a night to remember turns into a night of terror for her. She is thrown into a web of deceit that she is only a pawn in.
There is SO much packed into this book. Secrets and lies are brought to light, desires that had been dormant are coming to life... pain and passion, action packed and intense! Everyone has their work cut out for them. No one is safe while he is on his rampage.
This was the perfect ending for a couple that is far from perfect. Their start and everything after was messy, but raw and so real - why would this be any different. -
2.5⭐
Yeah. I fucked up. What’s new? I always fuck up. In a desperate attempt to keep her forever, at the possibility of her not agreeing to marry me, I made her think we were having protected sex, when really I was giving her medication to stimulate her ovaries. It’s a safe medicine and has been known to aid in conception.
My goodness what is it with heroes and birth control pills these days.
Also i love how Bella had a voyeur thing going on for herself and that she slapped Cal just because she "wanted to be kinky" when she was straddling him.
The plot felt......light
But honestly i enjoyed this.
Not as crazy as the first one but okay -
I feel like I'm in the minority here, but I just wasn't a fan of where the story went.
I'm genuinely really disappointed with how this book turned out. The writing just felt like a huge step down from the first one, and was really exaggerated and random in a way that didn't make sense for the story, or really work well for me.
I think the fact that I didn't read this book immediately after the first one hindered my overall opinion- as I sort of lost the flow of the story, despite really loving the first one.
I remember at times whilst reading being so confused about whether I was reading the right book, plainly because it just felt drastically different from the first, in terms of characterization from what I had remembered.
I just found myself getting annoyed with some of the characters, and wasn't really a fan of how messily the story progressed.
I do think that the book had a sweet ending, and did have some nice moments and also, although random at times, had some nice spice- however, it just didn't work for me, at least in the way that I was hoping that it would have- as this was a book that I had been highly anticipating reading, so yeah 🤷♀️. -

Her Broken Pieces is the second book of the Fallen Kingdom duet and the conclusion to Callum and Bella’s story!
After the way the first book ended I was already anxious for this second book. Callum and Bella have a really strong connection that it kept building up and getting stronger the more I read. They face the danger that surrounds them but now it’s them against the bad. One of the aspects I enjoyed about this book and just the duet overall is the way the characters are written and their development. Bella is honestly so strong and I admire the way she stands up for the people she loves. She feels a lot but that’s definitely not a weakness, it gives her hope and strength that’s needed.
Overall Her Broken Pieces is a great conclusion to Callum and Bella’s story. There’s moments that leave you on the edge of your seat and those are the most intriguing! I will be missing these two so much. -
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: second chance
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Her Broken Pieces is the second book in the Fallen Kingdom duet and is told in first person, from dual perspective. It cannot be read as a standalone. Her Broken Pieces picks up exactly where His Hallow Heart leaves off. After declaring their love, Callum goes missing. Bella is under threat, but it’s not quite clear from whom. Friends will be lost and new friends made while the two have to fight for their happily ever after.
I did enjoy the second book, but did feel like it dragged on a bit. I think it probably would have been better as one novel, but just trimmed down. I enjoyed how Callum grew emotionally during this book and how the two never wavered in their devotion once they made their feelings known. -
I loved this conclusion to Callum and Bella’s story! It was action packed from the get full of twists and turns it’s dark emotional and steamy the chemistry between Callum and Bella is everything the love these two felt for each other was intense my heart broke for Callum and what he’s endeared he was always alone he truly had no one except Bella . I really enjoyed this story !
-
I enjoyed this much more than the first.
Talk about a rollercoaster of emotions with no clue what's truly going on, but that's why I enjoyed it so much.
Can't really talk about the characters after the ending of the last book, so just know that you'll have twists thrown at you that you won't be able to predict.
The ending, although bittersweet, will leave you feeling fulfilled with all your questions answered.
Definitely a great duet. -
Another 2.5 stars rated book this week. Why do I bother with these sequels? 🤦🏽♀️

Rachel Leigh delivered in bringing a beautiful, action packed, emotionally charged thrilling conclusion to Fallen Kingdomduet series in Her Broken Pieces.Lead me to devour the end to Callum and Bella’s story.
Yet again Callum and Bella continued to steal my heart in Her Broken Pieces.
From the get go, despite the distance between Callum and Bella, their love for each other never waned. Showcasing it upon them reuniting, proving their love was everlasting. A constant continuation of blossoming throughout, with their connection in the bond they shared just continuously growing stronger with every moment together.
And even when they mishaps occurred between the two from revelations coming to light causing tension, they still managed to work their way through it and come out on the other side on top. Once again proving they were meant to be endgame.
Especially in Callum's case, he never stopped fighting to show Bella, despite the pain he had caused her in the past and in the present. He never allowed her to give up on him and them as a couple, choosing to continue to fight for her, ultimately allowing her to see they were meant to be together until kingdom come.
Rachel Leigh definitely came through yet again in delivering a narrative to a story that was jam packed with suspense surrounding the drama, thrilling action and mystery revolving around the secrets that were eventually came to light. Whilst pouring out endless emotions and feelings that bled off every single page, given the many situations and events that arose causing so much to be felt deep inside. Especially given the emotional turmoil and angsty moments that came about throughout.
It's what had you hooked on tight, ultimately leading you to fall down the rabbit hole that was Callum and Bella and the ending to their story.
Two words…The Steam!
Holy Smokes Batman! If you thought His Hollow Heartwas steamy, then you haven’t seen anything yet.
Rachel Leigh brought the fire in the form of a nuclear explosion this time round. I kid you not, Rachel upped the ante even more in Her Broken Pieceswhen it came to Callum and Bella in their lustful, hungry desire for one another. It was Sizzling, Red-Hot, Uninhibited, Passionate, Sexy Spiciness that was Steamy AF! Off the charts and massive bomb explosion FIRE to be exact!
Rachel Leigh definitely delivered with Her Broken Piecesbeing the perfect conclusion to Callum and Bella’s story!
Safe to say Fallen Kingdomduet series is a MUST READ! HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking it out, it will do you wrong!

3/5 stars
This definitely wasn’t as dark or twisted as the first one, which was definitely a disappointment. But it was still a pretty good love story. This sequel saw our couple forced apart but finding each other and finally facing the situation they’re in together. I’ll be honest, it kind of never felt like they were in any danger. The antagonist was just… annoying? He was just a d!ck, but he never actually felt evil or dangerous. What I did love was the growth between Cal and Bella. Even though cutesy is not really my thing, they were really cute and sweet together, though it did feel slightly out of place within a book that was supposed to be dark. Overall, I had hoped for more angst, more danger, and more drama, but I still enjoyed the read in the end. -
Her Broken Pieces is the second book to the Fallen Kingdom Duet. Check out book one, His Hollow Heart, before starting this one.
"Without you, I'm nothing."
The way Rachel writes makes me fall in love with all her characters, and Bella and Cal are no different.
After the heartbreaking ending of His Hollow Heart, Bella is still crushed and still has hope and is trying to find answers despite what others tell her.
She doesn't plan to give up, knowing that she will find him. These two had a rough childhood, and yes, one of them got the better end of the deal, but they still suffered knowing they were apart for all these years.
There is no one more deserving of a happy ending than Cal and Bella!
Rachel brings the spice as usual, with twists and turns I didn't see coming.
"I can give you that same promise I made all those years ago- a promise to never part. Until kingdom come."
This duet was fantastic, and it was a great way to end Bella and Cal's story. -
Be prepared for a ride
I'm really struggling to put into words how I feel about this book.
It was suspenseful, steamy, surprising, and also sweet.
I adored how Bella was able to bring out the soft side of Callum—even in the most dire of circumstances.
His love for her was absolute and fierce.
His protective nature was definitely needed in this book, considering all the twists and turns the story held.
While it might not be everybody's cup of tea (there are some things that may trigger some people), I found this book to be a riveting read and would absolutely recommend this duet to friends. -
Bella and Cal’s legendary story ends in a perfect happily ever after and I am thankful to talented Rachel Leigh for not leaving me hanging with unresolved issues. I got the perfect conclusion that I was craving for since reading the first installment. All the secrets, betrayals and lies come to surface. In addition, we all witnessed the most epic and spicy “lovemaking” scenes. I mean my kindle melt into a puddle. Finally, all the tears and drama and heartbreak was worth it at the end. I just loved the Fallen Kingdom duet and look forward to reading more by Rachel Leigh.

Bella and Callum
Omg!! Yes absolutely yes!! Bella and Callum’s story was a rollercoaster for sure and I absolutely enjoyed every moment of it. This one had so much angst and suspense to it I was hooked.
I loved getting this other part of Callum he really deserved his happy ever after with Bella.
This story was one that warmed my heart so much and it was two soulmates finding one another again even after all the obstacles they still came out on top and I loved that.
This book was a recommendation from a friend and I’m so glad I read it. -
What I way to end this amazing duet I can not even begin to tell you how epic this story is.
Her broken pieces is book 2 in the fallen kingdom duet this can not be read as a stand-alone you must read his hollow heart first.
After the mother of all cliff hangers Rachel Leigh left us with in book 1 of this duet I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on the concluding part of this phenomenal story. And my gosh Rachel Leigh kept me hooked right from the very first page to the very last. This story contains plenty of twists and turns with secrets being revealed that I had to pick my jaw up off the floor.
Bella and cal are definitely the definition of soul mates they are perfect for each other and I adored their story.
I can’t recommend this duet enough. I know you will love their story just as much as I did
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
FIVE STARS ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ -
4.5 stars! I read this book so quickly because I could not put it down! From beginning to end it completely sucked me in! Callum is a different person than he was at the beginning of the first book…is he a different person or it’s just that Bella makes him different…better? I loved them in this book! It really closed a lot of loops and answered some questions I had from the first book. The drama and the suspense were perfect! Rachel Leigh is just so good at these dark romances!

The suspense in this dark romance was thrilling as Bella was adamant that Callum wasn’t really gone from her life when she was sent to go back home. Their love was intense and filled with a lot of outside drama that had them working hard to make their relationship go smoothly. It was a good duet to see how they would get their happy ending and the growth they went through together.

5 PERFECTION STARS!! I was happy and sad for this book....only because it is the end of Bella and Callum. This book to us on another ride with so many emotions and suspense....I could not put it down. This author has quickly moved up to my top 1-Click authors.

Her broken pieces is the continuation of Callum and Bella's love story. Bella is trying to make sense of her time with Callum on the island and where he is now. She feels everything is not as it seems, but doesn't know how close to danger she is in. Callum has enemies willing to take away any and everything that mattered to him including Bella. Without giving much away this book had plenty of steam and danger along with two broken characters trying to find their way to each other despite all the enemies and mistakes in their path. I really enjoyed this duet and thought the conclusion was a great fit for these characters. Definitely worth reading!
-
I have been waiting for this 2nd part of the Duet since I read the last sentence in His Hollow Heart, and let me tell you, i was - still am! - blown away. Bella is back, trying to find out what happened to Cal, Byron is back also, trying to takeover everything including Bella. This book will keep you guessing page after page and if you still weren't sure about how you feel about Cal.. I guarantee you will want one of your own by the end! So many little twists and some lies, so much spice 🥵 and the chemistry is off the charts! The ending was absolutely beautiful! Definitely can not recommend this duet enough. 💚
-
Intense, gripping and passionate, Her Broken Pieces is a thrilling read.
Filled with darkness, hurt, angst, strength, steam and happiness, this book is the perfect conclusion for Cal and Bella's story. With a captivating plot blending suspense and emotion, and a storyline that will pull on your heartstrings, his hollow heart melds with her broken pieces creating a beautiful journey that shows their roads always lead to each other.
5 stars and until Kingdom come -
Book Two of the Fallen Kingdom Duet. It is recommended to read Book One, His Hollow Heart, first as this picks up where Book one ended. This is the conclusion to Cal & Bella's story. Cal and Bella have so many things thrown at them yet their love for each other keep pulling them together. This book had many twists and turns, betrayal, heartache and at the end of the day their love conquered it all. This was slightly dark, angsty with lots of suspense and I recommend reading this duet.
-
Enthralling, addictive and enticing..
I’m so blown away by Rachel’s storytelling The plot was brilliantly crafted, it flowed flawlessly. You can feel the character's deep in your guts and in your heart I was so immersed by this duet.
I could go on and on you need this book now do yourself a favor and one-click this book on the 24th!
“5 incredible stars!” -
The first book in this duet, His Hollow Heart, was such a wild ride and I was totally hooked into the story of Callum and Isabella. In this second book, I immediately found the appeal and intensity of the story exciting and difficult to put down. This is more than an epic romance and it is more than a suspense story, although both elements are strong and wonderfully powerful aspects. This story is summed up by Bella’s father at the end so well… it’s fate!
Honestly, I could have become a very violent person with Byron. 😄 The descriptions and actions of this despicable character truly get your ire up. Whereas with Cal I fell more and more under his spell, as I am sure was the author’s intention, very cleverly done too. Bella is her usual great self but I think she grew even more and certainly developed insight into where she’d like her life to go to enrich others as well—that’s the beauty of this lovely character.
Every scene set up something important or had a solid reason in the story, there were no loose ties and every question was answered. This shouldn’t be such a rare thing in a story but often is and I applaud this author for her writing. Of course, it’s more than just that: she built up her characters extremely well, set incredibly suspenseful scenes, and wrote an appealing story from the onset that allowed you to experience every emotion.

"We are worthy of love."
Her Broken Pieces is the second book in the Fallen Kingdom duology. It is an action-packed, very dynamic dark romance that follows the story of Callum and Bella a couple of months after they have been forced apart. It is a story of loss, betrayal, and forgiveness, but also about exploring one's hidden desires. Releasing on February 24th!
They found their love for each other again after all these years apart, but it is difficult to let the past go, especially when it's filled with hurt. He's been suffering for years, certain that it is her who should be blamed, and since they reunited, in a matter of weeks, his actions caused her an equal amount of pain. And then he vanished.
I really enjoyed how action-packed this book was, certainly more than the first book. With all the emotions and events from
His Hollow Heart, following Callum and Bella's story was very exciting, with all the complications around every corner - it kept me interested and emotionally engaged in the story. I particularly enjoyed the parts where Bella figures out her passion for voyeurism, attending secret clubs owned by Ellis empire we know from the first book, and how this additional thread made this book that much more interesting.
Despite my appreciation for all the action, some events felt rushed, and some emotions unnatural - however, the ending of this story made me smile happily.
Overall, I am satisfied with this duology and would recommend it, if you like:
- dark romance
- gothic setting
- friends to enemies to lovers
- "I hate you but I love you"
- billionaire romance
- forced apart
- soulmates
- bounded by fate
trigger warnings: erotic and violent scenes, kidnapping, murder, sexual assault

I received a copy of this book form the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
The world gave me everything. After surviving a plane crash, I was lucky to be alive. It was a harsh truth, but one that changed my perspective on how fragile life could be. So when a fellow survivor caught my eye, I owed it to myself to take a chance and follow my heart. Bowen Michaels was guarded and broody, but I saw through his well-formed armor. Much like me, he was broken and lost, but together we found our way through the darkness. For a brief moment, wrapped in his arms, it felt like maybe he was right about fate and we'd been destined to find each other all along. But when buried secrets of the past erupt, igniting us both, it was hard to believe we'd been fated for anything other than failure. The world gave me everything. And then took it all away.
This is the second book in the Difference Trilogy from Aly Martinez. You have to read The Difference Between Somebody and Someone or you are going to be lost. This is not the easiest of journeys and at times it is just heartbreaking to read but don't let that stop you. Isn't that the magic of being a reader. This story bounces between the past and the present. Things are progressing in some ways and in other not so much but Bowen has decided that if Remi wants him then he is going to stand by her no matter what. However he is still holding on to some secrets and Remi is in the dark about some things and keeping her own secrets too and it isn't long before all those secrets pile up and things begin to come apart at the seams. It feels like you are just waiting to see things explode in their very faces. UGH I was a nervous wreck. I love these characters and fell even more in love with them in this book. I just can not say a lot about it or this would be a super long review and I would be writing it for forever. These books are best gone in to blind and you will love this just as much as I have. I can not wait to see what happens next.
