First Morning Sun: A Book of Firsts Reviews

This gorgeous book with its lush colors captured my heart, and I think it will lead to many conversations with my four-year-old granddaughter. She is old enough now to enjoy looking at pictures of herself as a baby and to compare the experiences of the child in the book to her own life. I will ask her to tell me stories of her own "firsts" and also wonder about what new "firsts" she looks forward to. It will help me talk with her about the transition to kindergarten next fall, normalizing it with all the other firsts she has experienced.

Seldom do you find a book that can make a great baby present and a wonderful read for an older sibling or only child. Such a great concept beautifully executed.

Softly colored illustrations give the feel of warmth and comfort in this book of firsts. From baby's first day we follow the discovery of many new things. Everything is a first for them from talking to walking to playing and performing. Every new thing learned and discovered and felt has a first. A beautiful book for parents about new life, and appreciating every first.

This one celebrates firsts. With rhyming phrases like "first shoulder view. first peekaboo" and "First baby talk. First shaky walk" it mentions big and little firsts from infancy through early childhood. It is pleasant to read aloud and the layered, vibrant illustrations add to the festive mood. FIRST MORNING SUN would make a wonderful baby shower or new baby gift.

I fell in love with this book within the first few pages. This is a sentimental read and a lovely journey of "firsts." The vibrant illustrations make the book feel like a big hug from a loved one.
