Intriguing
I seldom read series but the first book intrigued me. A little long and repetitions in spots but certainly touches upon many major events and describes major cities of the times. Seems historically authentic. -
My American ancestor, Isaac LeFevre, the first white settler in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, was the only member of his family to escape martyrdom in Strasbourg, France, for his Protestant faith at the repeal of the Edict of Nantes in 1685. For that reason, I was attracted to this trilogy. This enduring love story between Jacob and Jeanne, French Huguenots who would not renounce their Protestant faith and endured multiple hardships, was not only inspiring, it gave me insight into the atrocities and suffering imposed on these courageous Huguenots because they believed they should be allowed to choose what to believe and and how they should worship God. Stripped of their homes, their wealth, and even their children, yet they endured. I couldn't put it down until the conclusion. A must read, and a love story to remember.

Very interesting story about the period. I learned a lot about what it must have been in that error. We did not spend much time on Louis XIV’s persecution of the Protestants religion history. Their journeys are fascinating!

Fascinating and intriguing read!
As I read further and further into this book I found myself almost breathlessly waiting to see the next event in the lives of the characters. And I was reminded of the sacrifice true believers of Jesus Christ must make for faith in Him! -
I have ancestors who fled France and settled in Canada during the uprising so was very interested in this trilogy. And it didn't fail me. It gave me understanding of what the conflict was about. It reminds me of Longfellow's Evangeline in many ways but with a happier ending.

Huguenot Chronicles
Enjoyed the trilogy. Nice clean language and inspirational to boot. I learned some things about the time period as well. Highly recommend. -
Sorry I really found these books tedious. I love Ken Follett and this cannot compare for me. The language was weird and sometimes inappropriately modern. Unusual for me to say this but 65% through I gave up. Each to his own I'm afraid.
