When Stephanie became the Queen of the Underworld and goddess of the Elysian Fields, she exchanged her mortal life for an immortal one—a marriage to Hades, the King of Ash and Bone himself. In time she would become submerged into the new life of a Greek goddess, but a human life with human customs was all she knew, leaving her with momentary bouts of homesickness. So, when she asks Hades to throw a Halloween party in the Underworld with their family as a reflection of her past life, how can he refuse her? Brooding loner or not.

**NOTE: Contains characters (Greek gods/goddesses included) from the Contemporary Mythos series. MAY contain spoilers for those that haven't read any of the main books**

What a fun look at my favorite gods! This had some great updates on them all and it’s still too hard to determine who is my top couple. They are all so wonderful.

I’d forgotten how much I loved Stephanie and the little twist this book gives where she was concerned was exhilarating. I hope we get to see more regarding it. (Don’t want to spoil it for anyone!) Hades was pure alpha perfection and totally swoony in his adoration of his Queen.

I loved the whole premise of this story - a Halloween party in Hell! The costumes, the decor, the food...so much fun to see from a unique perspective. What an original idea by this author. She pulled it off splendidly!

This was such a fun Halloween themed novella that I had so much fun with. I just couldn't seem to get enough of it here. I really liked seeing our first couple host a party for all the demi gods and seeing them all together except for Zeus. It was really interesting seeing them all come together, tease each other and just have fun together. I also loved seeing the small romantic times we get to see our main couple have including carving a pumpkin together and making love with their fog machine and lit up lanterns!

This was unbelievably adorable! A very spooky Halloween in the underworld, sign me up! And by spooky, I mean cute! I loved seeing what all the characters are up to and hearing them talk about their future. Plus I just love knowing that Hades dressed up as Lucifer. 😂

  • Alex (AlexInariBooks)

Let me begin by saying that it was a blast to meet all the characters again! Hades and Steph, Apollo and Laurel, Harm and Ares, Eros and Elani - it felt like coming home! In this novella we get a sneak peek at their Halloween celebrations - - and their future hopes and dreams!

PS. Have you already read the main series? If not, make sure to do it! I can’t wait to read Poseidon (next book in the main series) and the Yuletide novella!

  • Kristin (piecesofourlife)

I always love Carly Spade’s writing and this short story is no exception! I loved getting a glimpse into Halloween with our favorite contemporary Mythos characters! This is the perfect kick off to the spooky season!

Such a fun light read. I was in a major slump and as always Carly’s writing takes me right out of it. I loved seeing My favourite characters again. I’m excited for her Yuletide special.

I LOVED IT! It was dual POV which I generally adore. I already liked Hades' character in the original Spade book, and getting an even better insight into his mind was this stories' gift. The musical score was–again–great and Halloween-y, and the story had everything I could've wished for, despite only being 54 pages. It had romance, bantering, a creepy 𝑎𝑙𝑙 ℎ𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑜𝑤𝑠 𝑒𝑣𝑒 tale, a tad bit steam, and there were even some instances where I had to openly cackle (boy, my bf stared at me so dumbfoundedly..). I was in a real slump today, but this story? It lifted my mood INSTANTLY. And got me excited for the next novella "Yuletide" 🎄

So, you liked ℍ𝕒𝕕𝕖𝕤? Then you don't want to miss this story!

From the Gods dressing up in some amazing costumes to amazing spooky decorations and effects, to some unexpected guest and card readings to a little glimpse of what's coming up next for this amazing series.

A Fun Halloween Romp With Friends

The Hades/Stephanie Contemporary Mythos book intruduced me to the world of Carly Spade. It seems fitting that Hades and Stephanie brings us readers into the CM Holidays short stories.

Halloween at the Underworld! Fun, spooky, and sweet.

Can't wait to read the next.

A sweet and fun story for Halloween🎃💀🕷🕸🍂🍁

I just love Hades and Stephanie😍 I love the humor between these two and how Stephanie can rode Hades into doing almost anything she asks. Bravo on the costumes too (my favorite tv series😈). I love seeing the family get together and just have some childlike fun.

I just love the contemporary mythos series and this holiday addition is another winner.

Hades,Apollo, Eros and Ares along with their wives spend Halloween in Tartarus giving us a glimpse of what they’ve been up to.

I can’t wait for Zeus, Poseidon, Dionysus and the others to tell us their stories.

    Wonderful novella

I loved revisiting my favorite immortal couples. Its always a delightful when a writer gives us readers windows into beloved couples forever afters.

I need to go back and re read this and rate again because I just realized it’s a novella of a larger series. Not a series itself

In the Netherlands Halloween has not been celebrated for a very long time, but after all those Hallmark movies set during Halloween and ever since we all have friends in America because of the internet more and more places in the Netherlands are now celebrating it. I'm not a big fan so far, but I celebrated my way: By reading this novella set in the Contemporary Mythos world.

It was quite nice to be reunited with all those characters. It was even nicer to see them interact with each other in a relaxed setting. That doesn't mean Spade forgot that not all characters always played nicely. The atmosphere was kept light hearted, but old feuds were surely not forgotten. Because of all that you really need to have read all the books to appreciate this short story.

In this short story however we're also already getting a few hints about what's to come in the next books in the series. I know that Poseidon will come out soon and Spade promised me that she's gonna give Zeus as story that will have even me like him (we'll see about that). The redemption of Zeus clearly started in this novella and who's the woman Poseidon is hanging out with?

Plot wise not too much is happening in this novella of course. If you're really expecting some spectacular fights or danger or something, you're gonna be disappointed, but if you're just here to enjoy the atmosphere and to see how these characters are doing during their happily ever after, you will totally enjoy yourself with this one!

It’s the time of year when spooky stories are the thing to read. This book was extremely short, so
I figured there was no reason to not give it a chance. Although I feel as if it’s misrepresented as something it’s not.

I haven’t read any books from the series or from this writer, but I can say the theme is a Halloween party. If I would have read the previous books then I might have enjoyed the small nods to various characters. For the most part this book was simply dull. It had some lovey dove moments with a whole lot of characters thrown in. There’s also references to television series I have not watched, to describe characters.

This particular writing style of telling instead of showing while relying on television does not interest me. I also don’t look at it as writing. If the book was an assignment in a writer’s class I guarantee you that it would not be a passing grade. By some miracle this book might just make a passing grade with a forgiving professor. Seeing as I don’t know whom the characters are from their books, I can say that they all seem similar and quite young. This makes absolutely no sense because they are Greek gods with countless lifetimes. Clearly I have no interest In reading the series if there is more of this to look forward to.

I don’t recommend this book for the individual book that it is. The boredom I received while reading this short book was a higher rating than the book itself. I suppose if you enjoy lazy writing then this book is for you.

I've been quite into Gods-Myths-Legends books in the last few months, and while this series isn't quite as gritty as some I've read, I have been enjoying the author's particular take on each of the characters.

I do understand that "holiday" stories within a series are often a *bit* of a break from the rigours of their deeper, darker series offerings, but here I found it ... a bit too much "awwwwwww" and absolutely bereft of "AWE". The closest thing to any intrigue that might hint at furthering the fundamental storyline is the party-crashing (at least to most of them) Hecate with her potential machinations.

Its the kind of "break" I neither expect nor wish for when I'm invested in a vastly different course. Things can get lost in translation...

    wonderful

Okay, I really need to read the series this one sprang off. In here, Hades and Stephanie host a Halloween party in the Underworld.

Hades doesn’t care for gatherings but he’ll do anything to please his queen. While at the party Stephanie starts thinking about her dreams and which ones could still be fulfilled.

This was a cute story about Hades and the mortal who stole his heart. It’s a spin off from a book that is a retelling of Hades and Persephone.

It only took me an hour to read and it was pleasantly casual.

What better place for a Halloween party than Hades and Stephanie’s place in the Underworld?! Steph wants the party to bring a bit of mortal “normalcy” to her new immortal life and spend it with her new immortal family. It’s great to see the other couples and for them to all to get to know each other better! The new goddesses form a sweet bond and the party is a huge success even with an unexpected visitor showing up.

Loved this! Carly brings so much fun and love and light with these novellas with characters we already love!

  • Alizée

    - It was a funny novella, but I liked being back with the characters.
    - I read it, but I should have to wait for a little and read it after book four of the Contemporary Mythos series: Eros, as you have the couples of the first four books. Especially for one, it was a little spoiler-y for me.
    - Nevertheless, I would have totally said yes to having Halloween in the Underworld. It was funny how even if they are with ex-human girls, the gods still don't have the TV shows references.

  • Anna Beste

Honestly not what I was expecting but overall it was an entertaining short story. I love everything about Greek mythology so I was a little thrown off by Stephanie but I think there is more to learn about all of the new human turned goddesses in the next books. This is a contemporary retelling so I should be more prepared for creative liberties going forward.

(Turns out this is a mini series set after other books telling the stories, I am going to go read those now )

    Great Halloween read

It’s been a while since I read Hades and Stephanie’s book so I was happy to see this . Stephanie wants an Halloween party like she had in her mortal life and Hades won’t deny her anything , she invites several gods and their once mortal wives and hopes everything goes to plan.

  • Annie

    Cute holiday read

Cute addition to the Mythos series with brief glimpses into all of the couples we've met so far and even a hint or at things still to come.

  • Lizs.book.nook ||Elizabeth||

This was the perfect Halloween treat! Bringing together all of my favorite characters into one sweet, short Halloween novella! I loved this so much!

  • Larissa

A short and adorable holiday story with all the couples from the first four books of the Contemporary Mythos series. This story is from the point of view of Hades and Stephanie.

  • Ruth Hinojos

A short sweet story about Hades and Stephanie with their happily ever after. And of course I love that all the other where there too.

  • Elizabeth

    Too cute.

  • Natalie

I loved these characters but this book is a bit flat and steamy scenes completely glossed and or skipped. It was sweet but not special.

  • Katelyn Youso

I loved this little Holiday book. I hope to read more on the final ending because seeing hades like that would be amazing! not going to say what it is as i don't want to give any spoilers.

  • CerysAnne

"I love you, Stephanie. You say you want a Halloween party in the Underworld to remind you of your time on Earth as a mortal? You'll have it."

    ...And that's the plot.

Okay, but in all seriousness, Halloween was one hell of an entertaining read that is the perfect treat of a read for fans of this series. We're reunited with the OGs of the Contemporary Mythos Series - the characters who started it all - Hades and Stephanie, and we follow both in this short story as they're celebrating not only their first Halloween together, but also Stephanie's first Halloween as a Goddess and the new Queen of the Underworld. And they're celebrating by throwing a Halloween party. Despite a lot of the Gods having been invited, it's only the four couple of this series - Hades and Stephanie, Apollo and Laurel, Ares and Harmony, and Eros and Elani - who show up, along with one special guest whose presence shakes things up a little for these couples.

We get a nice little catch up with these Gods and their new Goddesses, some steam too between Hades and Stephanie, and a lot of laughter between the entire group. And there was even a couple of hints of future things to come for this series, which has me very excited for that more to come.

Honestly, if you've read and enjoyed the novels of this series, then what is stopping you from reading this short story? It was enjoyable and fun and reminded me of why it is I absolutely LOVE Hades and Stephanie. I loved their costumes for the party; I loved getting to know and see a darker side to Hades (I want more of that); I loved getting Hades' POV, and I LOVED how this story ended off - on a happy ending with that promise of (regardless if not from their POV) more to come for Hades and Stephanie. I want that more for them so badly, and I hope we get to see it one day.
