I've danced for some powerful and deadly men. But lately, instead of dollars, I'm collecting death warrants.

I’ve always played with danger. And as long as I followed the rules, I told myself I’d always be safe.

One night is all it took, one mistake, and now every damned mafia criminal in the Black Spades gang is after me.

But so are the Kings of Eden.

Cassius, Dracon, and Knox-- they're monsters that would make the devil's serpent look like an inchworm.

They want to play with me, break me, rule me.

What they don't know is that I'll never fall to my knees... even if that's exactly where they want me.

    Hm.
    Hmm.
    Hmmmm.
I'm not sure how I feel.

I like it... but I don't think I love it. Mostly, I don't like anyone.

Eve is lowkey boring? In a Mary Sue done poorly kind of way. She's feisty in a way that feels almost childish and petty, but the author obviously wants to be her being badass and strong. Her childhood backstory with her mom feels way too blown out of proportion - I think she should have moved on from this especially since everyone in her life now appears to be super amazing. She's supposedly so smart and hardworking - with a math degree - but she's a stripper? I just. Reading this, Eve is meant to be a badass woman, pulling herself up by the bootstraps - hurrah! However, the fact that she cowers to Draco's dragon rampage, is constantly battling her horniness despite not liking the guys, and seemingly does this so impulsively muddles that picture. It's wishy washy, and I hate wishy washy fmcs.

Plus, the guys are assholes! Not in a sexy way. They are just possessive, domineering, controlling assholes. I don't find them that redeemable, and I've definitely read my fair share of dark, alphahole smut. They don't seem to have any affection for Eve other than, "She's mine". It has nothing to do with her, some fated mates things, or anything. Purely possession. . Also, they are CRAZY. Insane. It's not endearing. In a different setting, a different world, with a different fmc, this could probably work. Here, it just didn't jive with me.

I will admit the smut is smutty, but it wouldn't be for everyone. It's almost all dubcon, pretty aggressive hate sex. Like, our first hint of steam is when Knox is literally carving Eve up, and he's into it. There's a whole bit where Eve (under the influence of mysterious magic drugs) thinks that Knox dismembering a vampire is sexy, downright arousing. Ew. But, y'know, besides blood play, if you like dark stuff, sure, this is fine. Nothing outright rapey.

But ultimately, I hate the ending. I hated it. I knew a cliffy was coming (you are warned), and that doesn't necessarily bother me, but I really didn't like this one.

Through in some editing errors and plot inconsistencies (ex: what Eve's wearing changes from a dress to pants), and this just isn't my fav.

Edit to add: I hate that we refer to Eve's boobs TWICE as "DDD's". Feels very male-gazey and fundamentally means nothing. Ladies, please understand that cup size is relative to band size and most people are wearing the wrong bra size.

What should have been a regular night of work at Kat's Kradle for Eve Dalton, ends up changing her life for the worse. A powerful mob boss has set his sights on her, and nothing will keep him from his prize. Despite her predicament, Eve can handle her own and manages to escape... Only to fall into the hands of another powerful crime organization-- The Kings of Eden. Dracon, Knox, and Cassius aren't your normal crime bosses though, they're supes--an Apex shifter, a demon, and one of the Four Horsemen, and they're all hellbent on finding out who and what Eve is.

I absolutely LOVED Eve's character--she's smart, snarky, an absolute badass, and a fighter (homegirl has been through some shit). Even though she's in a bit of a bind aka being held prisoner by The Kings, AND subsequently thrown into the middle of multiple turf wars/alliances, she handles things pretty well. Really looking to see how the dynamic between her and The Kings changes after that fricking cliffhanger of an ending!

I started this book, and then one of my loans became available on Libby (21 days to read it) and then another and another and so on. Well, since I actually OWN this book, it got put on the backburner until I had a free moment to finish it.

That being said, I still really enjoyed it! It had all the elements I enjoy in dark romances and the addition of supernatural beings? Yes, please. I loved all three of these crazy guys, and Eve was a genuinely interesting FMC. She could hold her own. Love the enemies to lovers, why choose vibes of this book, and the spice was spicing 👌🌶.

Sadly, the book ended on a cliffhanger, and I don't own book 2 or have KU anymore 😭. Nevertheless, it's going on my tbr in case I see it on sale or something.

Mila Young and Harper Brooks have teamed up to write a new series, Kings of Eden, a dark paranormal rh and it was great. A mixed bag of supernaturals, unknowing humans, criminals, and mafia. The story was interesting and the characters were all kinds of crazy.

There are three supernatural kingpins in the city of Andover, Dracon, Cassius, and Knox are known as the Kings of Eden. This is a dark romance, the guys are not good, not only are they criminals they reveal in the violence of it and they're also crazy as all get out. Okay Dracon isn't that bad, he has anger and control issues but Cassius is a thrill-seeker in the worst way, he's total chaos, while Knox is just plain crazy and obsessed with blood and torture. How these three unique supernaturals got together I will never know but it's quite obvious that they hold a tenuous peace, each is on a razor's edge because of their strong personalities but somehow they are also bonded, fighting, working, and living together, as a unit. They balance each other and keep each other in check while also watching each other backs and it works.

Somehow Eve comes across their path and things go up in smoke from there. Eve is strong, she had to be. Eve is a survivor and struggled to come up on top with not much support and the best thing about her is she doesn't take crap lying down, she is a fighter and will do anything to survive. Including facing off with the Kings. There is this weird dynamic of hate and desire on both sides and turns out the longer Eve is with the guys turns out she's just as crazy as the guys. Who knew.

I love a good paranormal mafia story and I got it with Kings. The story was mostly setting up the main characters but there were also glimpses into the criminal Underworld the guys live in. A slew of tenuous alliances, problematic deals, different supernaturals, and a life of luxury. Not to mention the mystery of Eve herself because something most definitely is up with her. Plus the guys are really interesting, their dark and mysterious pasts, and them being unique supernaturals all add layers to the story. I would love to know more especially about Knox because he's something else altogether and I wanna know how his story blends into this world.

Kings of Eden was a great read and just the start of Eve's story. Things got a little crazy at the end and some stunning revelations were revealed that has me asking all kinds of questions. I can't wait to see where Mila and Harper take the rest of the series.

  • Book Life With Jen

Kings of Eden by Mila Young and Harper A. Brooks is a dark paranormal romance that will take you on captivating ride through the seedy underworld of society and will have you on the edge of your seat in anticipation of what’s to come!

Eve, our fierce and sexy FMC, is a woman that has lived a hard life and come out as a survivor. Leaving home at 16 she has found her way to the city where she now is a highly sought after and extremely desired dancer—one that has unfortunately caught the eye of a n evil man that doesn’t take no for an answer, and who also happens to be one of the three leading factions of the city. When things quickly escalate, Eve finds herself in the in the clutches of the Kings of Eden, another crime syndicate in the city.

The Kings meanwhile may have bitten off more than they can chew with Eve. Even though all three men, Dracon, Knox and Cassius, are pure alphas in their own right and are each powerful supernaturals, they each find themselves unexpectedly drawn to Eve—each wanting to claim and posses her for themselves. And not always willing to share. When they discover that Eve isn’t as “normal” as she appears or thinks, with her own strange and unique power, they’re not sure if they should kill her or keep her. When they discover that all the other factions of the city are suddenly after Eve to claim her for themselves they realize they may just want her after all…

I loved how the story built up the chemistry between the four, giving us just enough snippets of hot steamy fire here and there to keep us enthralled. The alpha possessiveness that each man feels for Eve is off the charts and I love how they’re all connected by their shared darkness. Eve meanwhile is independently fierce—even in the face of great danger. She’s willing to fight for what she believes in and especially for her freedom. Keeping the Limgs on their toes at every turn and not afraid to butt heads with the fiercest of them all.

Overall this book was deliciously dark and beautifully twisted with captivating characters and a story line that pulls you right in! It does end on a tantalizing cliffhanger so I definitely need book 2 asap!

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

These two fabulous authors have done it again!! They have created one captivatingly dark new world for us to visit. Eve is a dancer with some skill making everyone want her which was good until an extremely dangerous mafia boss sets his sights on her. After some surprise twists she finds herself with a group of three dangerously hot and powerful bosses in their own right which will change her life as she knows it. This book has me hooked so now I totally need the next one to see what happens. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

Kings of Eden by Mila Young and Harper A Brooks is a twisted tale of a dancer taken when a man sets his eyes on her being his prize for the night. Despite the dire circumstances she manages to escape but with consequences and only finds herself prey to someone far more deadly. Can I just say I LOVE Eve! Despite it all she’s got a real fighting spirit and snark that possibly gets her into more trouble but even so she rocks it. Definitely looking forward to seeing how things continue to change after that ending! I’m definitely ready for book two!

  • thenerdybookworm_

Eve is an exotic dancer with a bit of magic. When she has the misfortune to catch the attention of a local crime boss in town. When she finds herself in a bad situation she manages to flee, only to be caught in another.

I love the paranormal twist in this dark mafia read. It kept me on the edge of my seat, needing to read the entire thing, only to be thrown for a loop with the ending. Looking forward to the next book.

  • Angela Denny

This was a great book. I loved all the dark elements in it. Eve's life changes dramatically after a gangster takes notice of her. On the run she meets the Kings of Eden but they are not what they appear. Eve is a brave and strong FMC and her men are dark and dangerous monsters you will fall in love with.

  • Lory

I loved this book!! Unique storyline nothing I have ever read before it's dark, intrigue, and extremely entertaining. Can't wait to get my hands on the next book in this series. As always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are completely my own.

  • MandyViolete

Fantastic beginning! I’m totally invested in the characters and can’t wait to see more! I love the dynamic between the FMC and the Kings-and that ending was such a twist! Love it!

  • Debbie Eyre

This is a great bully romance! The world building in amazing, the characters are true alphaholes and the storyline is dark, exciting, intriguing and a real page turner! Eve is strong, snarky and full of sass and finds herself captive of the Kings of Eden. Dracon, Cassius, Knox are totally psychotic criminals and murderers and they want Eve. With a unique and steamy storyline I am eager to see where the author takes us in the next book!

  • Erin Diglio

There is A LOT happening. I barely understand it but it has supernatural hot boys so I’ll rate it high. 💁‍♀️

  • Claire Weglowski

Omg what a book I am literally in book hangover, this book was outstanding, it’s a must read, it’s gripping, fun and has had me happy mad and anxious all at the same time absolutely outstanding, love the main character Eve and love the three main men, oh Dracon is my favourite tho, absolutely brilliant cannot wait for book 2, this will be like nothing you have ever read before, it’s dark, it’s fun, it’s gripping.

  • Tara Syrnyk

This is the first in the series and it really hooks you! This is a dark paranormal rh that was really engaging. It doesn't feel like a paranormal at first ( if that makes sense), Eve really tries to live as normal as a life as she can but the book slowly pulls you into a paranormal world and the next thing you know, you are surrounded by a diverse selection of unique and interesting beings with morally grey intentions, slight insanity and violence all around. Eve has a lot to deal with when Dracon, Cassius and Knox invade her life, altering her plans of a quiet hidden life and she doesn’t go quietly! The dynamics between these 4 is oh so entertaining and infuriating and everything in between! These characters are so well done! It was an awesome read and fantastic start to the series. These characters, the world building , the intrigue , tension and steam, ah! So so good! I loved it all.

A slow burn hot pnr gang related tale revolving around a girl that stumbles into a world she didn't really know but belongs in.... Yet could destroy the world with a twitch of her hand.

Evr is a dancer at Kats Kradle when she catches the eye of Xavirr Franco, the leader of the Black Spades, one of the roughest human gangs around. Despite everyone fleeing the strip joint and her trying, she's caught by one of his bodyguards and forced into a date.... That goes horribly wrong and is the cause of the beginning of a war between pretty much every gang ... Supe or human.

Eve ends up being scooped up by the King's of Eden without knowing its them... When she finds out she tries leaving.. But fails. Her magic is uncontrollable. She never uses it so has no control over it. Dracon, an Apex Predator runs the gang, Cassius, a demon, who seems more light hearted than the others, and Knox, Death of the horsemen who has been trapped on earth.

Some time down the line they face off War. He's The reason for Knoxs entrapment and they discover more about Eve.

I love the mismatch of Supes in the little gang of kings of Eden. Are they friends? They seem to barely tolerate each other, but won't leave each other. How far will they push each other to see their limits?

Eve seems to be a cornerstone. With her to concentrate on, the tension drops... Until the possessive Alpha in each of them rises with jealousy!! And then there's the fact of who eve actually is. This could change everything.....

Well written, fun to read, good length of book, the chemistry was great between eve and all three, but the jealousy is a massive issue which I haven't seen as big before... Fun to see how it goes!

    Book two.....!!

  • Denise

Eve, a young exotic dancer starts her evening with what she assumes will be her normal routine on stage - eliciting the looks and cash from many men who come to Kat’s Kradle. However, while performing she notices a massive and intimidating man watching her intently. She doesn’t know this man and doesn’t get any vibes of the man being a ‘supe’. After getting off stage, she talks to some of her friends and finds out that the massive man is Xavier Franco, the head of the Black Spade - one of the biggest kingpins in the city. After closing down early for the night, one of Franco’s body guards finds Eve and insists that she put on a dress bought by Franco and to come see him where he awaits in his limo. After fighting to keep her modesty and possibly her life, Eve is essentially on the run from the Black Spades and their kingpin. She ends up getting caught and brought to a warehouse where an unsuspecting man awaits in the shadows. Knox, our unsuspecting man is enamored with this spunky girl he see’s and decides to aid her when she flees, especially when Knox notices that she has something of his. Knox captures Eve and thus begins a love/hate relationship with the Kings of Eden: Knox, Dracon, and Cassius.

I urge anyone who enjoys mafia reverse harems to pick this book up and go along on this ride. Filled with action, twists, turns, and spice - Mila Young and Harper Brooks give one hell of an opening book for this series. The storyline and characters were shaped beautifully and I enjoyed the world building that was done.

Eve was thrown out by her own overly strict mother, and while those years on the streets were horrible, she's grown into a strong woman. She's the star dancer at Kat's Kradle and she thinks she has everything together until the boss of the mafia family, the Black Spades wants her. When she fights and escapes, a target is put on her back not only by the Spades but all the gangs in town, including the infamous Kings of Eden. When they get a hold of her, they rule over her with monstrous grips. The Kings keep her locked in their tower, safe from the world, but not from them.

This is the first book in this dark reverse harem paranormal romance series. And read with a warning: it's dripping with darkness. Eve is a confident woman, and she knows how to handle men that get out of line. Yet when faced with the powerful and gorgeous Kings, she's left breathless. Yet I love that she continually pushes back. Cassius is a demon with a wild sense of humor. There's one scene with him that I laughed so loud! Knox is the most terrifying in his sociopathic way, but the kind of otherworldly creature he happens to be is very cool. (I won't ruin that surprise!) Finally Dracon is the boss, a powerful shifter, and so incredibly dominating and sexy. Eve gets tangled with them on so many levels. Then all the mafia politics and maneuvering, and the major huge cliffhanger at the end! I didn't see it coming at all.

    Kings of Eden

Eve is a survivor. Her religious Mother kicked her out to live on the streets at just 16 years old!😢 She lived through some horrors but kept on fighting and striving for a better life. She succeeded in having a life she loved until one of the city gang bosses turns her life upside down!😡

The three 'Kings of Eden' are Dracon, Knox and Cassius, an Apex predator that can shift into anything but prefers his Dragon, the Horseman of Death and a Demon with secrets! They head one of the biggest and baddest Gangs around. They're all gorgeous, scary and psychotic!😳 Once they have Eve they all become a little obsessed with her. She hates herself for wanting them all so badly and keeps trying to escape. She needs them though, that's evident once the Boss that first took her comes after her again.😲

I didn't love this book, I didn't hate it either! I really liked Eve, and Cassius most off the time, but I found the Kings all a bit too psycho to be able to connect with properly, and I really didn't like how they often thought of killing each other! I would've quite liked more storyline with her two best friends in it as well, so we could get to know her better. I thought the twist at the very end was brilliant, I don't know if it was enough to make me read book #2 though!

Eve is a dancer at a night club, appearing entirely human, running from a very unpleasant past, and doing what she enjoys. Until the moment she catches the eye of a very dangerous man - Xavier Franco, a mobster who does not understand the word "no". Eve's resistance only turns him into her mortal enemy. But the men who took her captive when she was running from Franco might be even deadlier. Welcome to the den of the Kings of Eden, powerful and dominant supernaturals that might be a bit crazy, a little too dominant, and utterly charming if they want to.
This paranormal RH story has a great portion of darkness in it, especially considering the world the story is set in and the unavoidable violence that comes hand in hand with the life of crime. I really loved Eve, the way she was able to find a solution to impossible situations, held her own in a smart way, and damn that skill to run fast in stilettos is pretty admirable. Knox, Dracon, and Cassius are also a rather interesting characters, shady and crazy in their own ways, but I enjoyed getting to know them from the safe distance of being a reader :) nevertheless the cliffhanger at the end created a dangerous and impossible standoff, and I am really curious how the characters would come out of this alive and united. They won't come out unchanged for sure, and I am looking forward to their development under these changes.

Kings of Eden is a reverse harem paranormal romance novel with lots of dark and twisted elements by Harper A. Brooks and Mila Young. This book is darkly delicious and buckle up for the ending because it had my jaw on the floor.
Eve is just a dancer at a club. She believes she’s no one special, but her life is about to be turned on it’s head after this night. Eve is the headliner at Kat’s Kradle, but she’s caught the eye of the Black Spades boss. He wants her, but he’s human. So why? Things go left when she tells him no, and now he’s out for blood. Eve has no idea that when she’s “rescued” by Knox after wielding his blade (that no one should be able to) that she’s going to find herself in even more trouble and danger than before.
This book is so good. It is a bit slow in places, but the storyline is well thought out. There are a ton of dark and twisted elements to this story. Some might be a bit much for some readers, so proceed with caution. There are some elements that were a bit cringy, but I overall truly enjoyed this book. The last chapter though had my jaw on the floor. The authors did good because no way anyone saw that coming. I have to know what happens next!!!
I’m rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. Bring on book two!

  • Agata Jędrzejewska

It was a very violent story. We discovered so much already yet it feels that we just grazed the surface of all the secrets and pasts. Our kings are not the easiest guys, all alpha, ordering, taking what they feel to take, possessive to the extreme. They care and it scares them, kind of. They are all in for a fight, to kill other gang’s members, or torture some informations out of some others. A very violent and volatile group they are, but each of them have a past, one which haunts them, one which brought them to the men / «beasts» they are. In all this, falling head first, we got Eve. Eve who brings a raging storm in the city and in kings’ hearts, Strong woman. One with lots of heart and convictions, one who did already passed through too much. Well she hates them and loves them, desire them and loath them, she fears them and fight them. Cold and hot all the time at the same time. It’s interesting, however bloody, steamy but dark. It’s simply a new story to play with our minds and somehow we love every second of it.

  • Carmen Alicea

Eve is a woman that knows exactly what she wants, and she fights for herself and the ones she loves. Eve is a survivor, and she never lets anyone bring her down, even if it gets her in trouble. She never let that stop her from speaking her mind. Eve is a feisty courageous badass, and I love her spunkiness.

The kings of Eden are powerful, and Eve has come to turn their world upside down. Knox’s moody and unpredictable .he tries to fight his attraction to Eve. He’s so focused on his agenda he can’t see what’s in front of him. Cassius is charming, funny, and so unpredictable. I love the way he teases Eve. Dracon is possessive, and I love the way he loses control when he’s around Eve.

I loved the interaction between them. They are drawn together by their shared darkness that calls to them. I was obsessed with Eve because she was intelligent, clever, and she’s no damsel in distress.

This story teaches you to never underestimate a woman. Never judge her for her looks because they might surprise you. Eve’s the start of this story, and I can’t wait to read the next book.
