This book is excellent!!! Such greats writing and deep respect for the complexity of the Transatlantic slave trade. The author follows a few families from Ghana to America, through many generations, as they tell their stories, with pride, resilience and love. It’s a story of survival and thriving when facing tragedy. Thank you Yaa Gyasi for courageously undertaking this journey to lift up the voice of our ancestors.

The style of writing was impeccable. I love how the characters are all connected and going through near similar predicaments even with their different fates. The book literally transcends generations and every generation captured therein is perfectly presented from its culture, language, and day to day activities. If I could describe the book in one word, the word would be "ecstatic".
