Fix It with Food: Every Meal Easy: Simple and Delicious Recipes for Anyone with Autoimmune Issues and Inflammation : A Cookbook Reviews
-
This is a fantastic cookbook. So many wonderful, easy recipes to pick from. The pictures are outstanding. The ingredients are all simple easy to find, You may have most in your pantry already. I highly recommend this cookbook.

Michael Symon is one of my favorite tv chefs. This cookbook is filled with great recipes, all targeted at reducing inflammation caused by autoimmune diseases. While I don’t have those issues, I look forward to trying many of these recipes like the eggplant Parmesan and the coffee chocolate chip blondies.
-
Great recipes, easy to prepare without feeling like I'm missing any flavor or favorite foods.
-
Chef Symon has done it again, continuing with this sequel to Fix it with Food. He gets personal and real with his struggle with food and how it effects him physically. I just love Michael Simon, and I don’t say that because he is from Cleveland. He is genuine.
If you struggle physically and with pain, this, and the first book are what you need. -
Some great recipes!
-
Great recipes and made for two! Love the substitution list, very helpful. Easy to make and very yummy! :-))

Having a few autoimmune conditions, I've wanted to get them under better control. Knowing dietary options are a thing to consider, I purchased this cookbook. I'm also a fan of Michael Symon's cooking in general.
This cookbook does a great job of categorizing recipes and showing the different stages of elimination and introduction. I'm keeping these in mind as I hope to get a better grip on my autoimmune situation. -
Not very relevant recipes to my food interests. Several recipes including quinoa and eggs, which I do not particularly like. Some interesting recipes I might be trying, but not many. Also found it interesting that the Poached Eggs with Charred Onion recipe was under the “no flour” section, yet the recipe calls for 1 tablespoon of flour in it.
-
This is an enjoyable cookbook with many interesting recipes with easily accessible ingredients. There were beautiful photos for many of the dishes. I am planning to try several of them - Breakfast Muffins, several smoothies and snacks like Aleppo-Spiced Popcorn. I do recommend this cookbook.

A lot of great recipes! I love Chef Symon!
-
Nothing stood out to me, but the recipes seem nice enough.
-
I like Symon's honesty about avoiding trigger foods. He made it realistic to boost nutrition and eat delicious food.
-
Super helpful and informative. Definitely a recommendation if you’re interested in learning more about an anti-inflammatory diet.

I used his first Fix it with Food program last year and discovered a few foods that were triggering joint pain.
This version includes a lot of new recipes and an expanded explanation on how to add back in foods. That's good. I had to make up my own version of that last year (which is pretty close to what he recommends)
My only two additions to this would be to first also try eliminating nightshades. I found out by accident that they are a huge trigger for me. He does not eliminate them during the 10 day reset but if I were you, I would. (Google what all is a nightshade to cover your bases, potato is the one that trips most people up)
The second would be when adding back in meat, don't be broad stroked. You might not be able to eat chicken but able to eat beef or vice versa. Be very intentional when adding in foods.
If you have joint pain I highly recommend seeing if the foods you eat are making it worse. I'm almost a year in to eating differently and the improvement in my health has been AMAZING. -
So this is a great book for anyone with autoimmune or inflammation. There are a lot of recipes once you figure out your triggers. My big issue is the RESET phase. I understand why it needs to be done, but for anyone who feeds a family this won't work. My kids and husband will not eat much of anything in it. I'm already way too busy and stressed out with food to try that part. This is the problem with a lot of these reset type food eating plans, they do not account for families. I don't have the time or effort to make two different meals every day, multiple times a day.
I've had a few recipes from the RESET and they are good for me during breakfast and lunches, but not sustainable long-term. The book itself is well written. You can easily understand why this method helped Michael and why it may help you. It's set up well and the pictures are beautiful.
I'll end up adding some of these recipes into my daily life, but unfortunately can't follow the strict RESET plan. -
As a person who suffers with inflammation I’ve tried numerous blog recipes and random Pinterest links that are somewhat reliable as to how they will turn out or taste. Luckily over the years I’ve learned some tricks but this book should be the bible of tricks. Im really pleased to have such a great chef create a cookbook I can use everyday and the food tastes amazing, is easy to make and follow. Sometimes simplicity, flavor, and savored moderation still make you enjoy life at the table more than an elaborate feast ever did.

This book has a great format with well thought out recipe plans. The recipes are nicely photographed with good comments and suggestions for substitutions. The focus on reintroduction with respect for individual triggers is an essential part of this type of food plan.
Huge error on page 66 - Flair-up is not a term. It’s FLARE-UP. Shameful this wasn’t corrected. -
Unless you have health issues, this cookbook probably isn’t for you. The 10 day reset is very restrictive and focuses on vegetables, eggs and grains. When proteins and gluten get reintroduced, the recipes improve. It’s not a cookbook I’d keep on my shelves but could be a valuable one for someone.

Lot's of recipes for things I am eating right now ---cabbage, cauliflower, avocados, blueberries, zucchini, and 25 other items.
I definitely would make several recipes in the book, so it's on my to-purchase-later list. -
I don't have any autoimmune issues or food allergies, but I am interested in cooking with whole, unprocessed ingredients, and Michael Symon delivers in spades. Since I don't have any dairy issues, you're never going to sell me on faux cheese. Sorry, not sorry.
-
Cannot wait to cook through this. Love this idea.
-
So many great recipes, I think I’m going to end up buying this one!

Ok this is an easy, helpful plan and I like how it is set up with the recipes.
