A visually engaging history of the 100-year-old fashion authority Vogue Paris Always a defender of artistic and literary creation, Vogue Paris, more than other publications, makes fashion a cultural and societal topic as much as an object of fantasy. Through photographs, drawings, and magazines, this book will highlight how Vogue Paris plays a major and singular role in the diffusion of Parisian style.

Vogue Paris: 100 Years Reviews

"Vogue Paris was a fashion magazine, not a lifestyle magazine. The result was a detachment from reality that not only made these images more alluring, but also lent them a mystical status. It can therefore be said that although these Vogue Paris shoots were emblematic of their time, they did not reflect it, or at most did so in a minor way."

A very nice tribute to Vogue Paris and an examination of its development and importance from 1920 to 2020. Frankly, this book is all the more important to preserve what Vogue Paris used to before becoming Vogue France *shudder* in 2021 and succumbing to Conde Nast's "global" initiatives. Thus, making practically every localized edition Vogue an extension of Anna Wintour's and Edward Enniful's narrow (supposedly "global) vision of fashion, subjecting readers worldwide to endless mediocre reprints. Will the new iteration of Vogue France survive another 100 years? It's doubtful.

For whatever reason, Vogue Paris is the fashion publication that's been the most special to me. I still remember the first issue I bought (Feb 2009) and how pleased I was to find it available in a local bookstore! My collection has since grown with a slow accumulation of back issues from my favourite (1968 to 1986 under Francine Crescent) via eBay. Somewhere along the way I quit caring about this magazine during Emmanuelle Alt's tenure, but now I'm even nostalgic for it.

Une très belle édition pour le numéro de Vogue Paris.

ps: pourquoi y a-t-il cet ouvrage trois fois sur Goodreads?

    Bonsoir.

This is quite a large book, with some excellent photography by the likes of Richard Avedon, Guy Bourdin and Irving Penn. Although I am not particularly a huge fan of fashion, there are some great high quality and original photography works shown in this book.
