World War III Team Second Edition Rulebook by Battlefront Miniatures

Based on the book written by Harold Coyle in 1987, Team Yankee brings the conflict that simmered throughout the Cold War to life in a game by Battlefront Miniatures where you command your troops in miniature on a realistic battlefield. World War Team Yankee is the 2nd edition of the rules.

Team Yankee, a heavy combat team of M1 Abrams tanks and M113 armoured personnel carriers, faces a Soviet invasion of West Germany. Outnumbered and outgunned, Captain Sean Bannon and his men will have to fight hard and they’ll have to fight smart if they are going to survive.

Lt. Colonel Yuri Potecknov’s motor rifle battalion is preparing to execute its mission in the scientific manner that he had been taught at the Frunze Military Academy and used in Afghanistan. Victory today will bring the world proletarian revolution that much closer.

Battlefront Miniatures World War III: Team YankeeRulebook Reviews

World War III is a rule book for the miniature war game Team Yankee, ideal played in 15mm scale and produced by Battlefront. A fair amount of Cold War lore is included for a small get started book, and most of the rules needed to play a basic match are within. Unit Cards supplement the remainder. Rules are fairly light and abstract, which is precisely what we wanted out of side game. One concern I have is that terrain has a height rating, such as 3 for forests, etc., yet the next page encourages true line of sight evaluation. This can be easily worked out with a reasonable opponent, however, and overall we are excited to play. The print in the starter set rule book is very small; should you have a bit of eye trouble, perhaps invest in the larger hardcover. A solid 4/5.
