My life’s been laid out for me since before I was born.
Graduate high school, marry the mayor’s son, get my degree and take over my mother’s company.
I don’t want it – I don’t want any of it – but I’d never say that out loud.
Girls like me aren’t supposed to speak our minds. We’re supposed to smile and look pretty and do as we’re told without argument.
I keep my mouth shut for an easy life.
A boring life.
But then I meet him.
Xander Reid doesn’t follow rules.
He’s a cocky bad boy with a devil may care attitude and a tongue bar I can’t stop staring at.
He treats life like a game and dares me to play with him.
And even though I know he's bad for me, I’m not sure how much longer I can resist.
XANDER
Lakewood is supposed to be a punishment.
A way to fix me and my unusual take on life.
Seven months before the end of my senior year, my parents ship me off to live in a strange town with a family I barely know and a private school full of entitled rich kids.
They seem to forget change doesn’t bother me.
I get bored easily, can’t sit still for five minutes and nothing holds my attention.
But then I meet her.
Jordyn James isn’t as innocent as she makes out to be.
She’s a bad girl trapped in a life fit for a princess, desperate for freedom from the chains that hold her back.
Making her mine just might be the worst thing I’ve ever done, and yet I regret nothing.
This is a full length, opposites attract romance with themes some readers might find offensive.
Complete standalone with a HEA and no cliffhanger.

“I don’t want a princess,” I tell her, shamelessly moving my eyes over her sexy little outfit. “That little devil inside you? I wanna play with her.”
Little Devil is the perfect example of why you should't judge a book by its cover. Steam wise, the sexy abs are on point, but the cover art combined with the title had me expecting something dark---enemies-to-lovers, perhaps?---but that this book is not.
Little Devil is a high school romance set in a world of privilege, comparable to Gossip Girl, but with characters that are way more likable. The romance is opposites attract with a bit of angst and a ton of sexy moments. It has some silly teenage drama (again, think GG) but also some depth to it as well, as the main characters deal with issues such as the death of a sibling, body image, and self-discovery.
The chemistry between the two main characters, Xan and Jordyn, was off the charts. And Xan may be one of the best dirty-talking heroes I've met this year. (but they definitely didn't make 'em like that when I was in high school, that's for sure.) Probably one of my favorite things about this story was Xan's personality. He has a carefree, zero Fs to give attitude, but the way he treats Jordyn---the way he tries to lift her up when everyone else tears her down---is exactly what I like to see in a male love interest. Jordyn struggles with body image due to the way her mother and those around her talk to her (potential TW for fat shaming, although the issue is more about body image than Jordyn's weight) but Xan always makes her feel beautiful just how she is, and I absolutely loved that about him.
4.25🌟 as it did wrap up a little too neatly and there also isn't too much in the way of tension. Jordyn's ex-boyfriend is a toolbox, but he never comes between Xan and her---he's just more of a nuisance. Basically, this is a steamy NA romance about two people falling in love, and it was so very enjoyable.
“Xan,” I whisper, hesitating a second before I decide to tell him. “I think I’m falling for you.”
A light laugh leaves him and he smiles against my lips, still moving with me to the beat of the music. “Baby, I’ve already fallen.” -
I said I wouldn't read any more books where the main characters are in high school. I’m a filthy liar. So glad that I am. Little Devil is the first book that I have read from this author, and if her books are like this one, I am reading all of them. I was in a book slump and this one just gripped my ankles and pulled me out.
Jordyn, aka JJ. Has her whole life been planned out for her by her controlling mother. Go to an ivy league college; marry the mayor’s son, who she has been with for several years and doesn't even love him. She is dying to break free of her Façade of a life.
Then enters bad boy Xander, the new kid at the academy. His parents are at the there wit end with him and kick him out to move in with his aunt. He is smitten from when he lays his eyes on Jordyn for the first time; As he pursues her, he finds himself obsessed with her. He is cocky, smooth-talking, and funny as hell. He is also loyal and honest.
Moral of the story don’t judge a book by it’s cover. I was thoroughly impressed with the author's storytelling and her writing style. The spice is 4/5. The angst level is just right for the story. This book is a must-read.

LITTLE DEVIL: Is a full length romance book by 'New to me author Bethany Winters' Spoken in 'dual perspectives.'
This opposites attract book sizzled off the pages with his dirty mouth and bad boy attitude had me lapping up the pages.
With too many incidents hanging over his head, Xander's parents have had enough and proceed to send him to live with his Aunt whom he barely knows, to finish up his senior year at Lakewood Academy.
It's at Jordyn's aka JJ's eighteenth birthday party where he first claps eyes on her and wants to claim her as his but she's dating Noah Campbell the Mayor's son and they've been together since they were kids, and she'd never go for someone like Xander if her life depended on it.
But the 'New Boy' gets under her skin. Xander lives outside of the rules whereas Jordyn follows every little rule set out for her until Xander challenges her and sets her life on fire.

4.5 Stars: Super steamy, opposites attract novel
I mean… what else could I expect when the H is pierced… um… everywhere… and is always willing to… please the h 🔥.
The book starts off with Xander’s perspective (Xan). He slept with a girl, who punches him, and then her brother punches him as well. He got in trouble for stealing his teacher’s car, a teacher whom he slept with, and crashing the car. So, his parents send him away to be with his aunt, the principal at Lakewood Academy. He and his cousin decide to go to his huge party, which happens to be JJ‘s birthday party.
It’s Jordyn’s (JJ) 18th birthday and she’s having a huge party at her house/mansion. She has a lot of people that are over celebrating her, except for the one she wants to be there the most, her mother. Her mother isn’t always there for her, in the physical aspect that a mom should be. Yes, she provides for her, gives her some advice, but she wants to live her life more than she wants to be a role model for her daughter. She’s at this party with her boyfriend, Noah, her best friend and other people, but it’s clear from the beginning that she isn’t really into Noah like she should be at this point.
And then… She catches Noah with her best friend, having sex. She breaks up with him and leaves her house, which Xander applauds. Xander is instantly attracted to her and tries to pursue her, but JJ tries to limit contact with him, especially because he seems like a troublemaker. He has piercings everywhere (face, tongue, and… his d 😉👀) and tattoos, many of which were dares (peep the cover words).
As time passes, JJ‘s ex tries to get back with her, but she’s over it and she starts realizing that she is very attracted to Xander. Xander uses this to his advantage and is in close proximity to her whenever he gets a chance.
It takes a little while for them to do anything physical (over 30%) but… oh… dear… sweet… Jeeezus… it is INTENSE they do!!! 🥵🔥 Xander is all about JJ’s pleasure. Although she’s not a virgin, her experience with her ex-boyfriend wasn’t the best. Enter Xan- a tongue and d pierced god who knows his way around a woman and cares about his partner. The chemistry is steamy and thick 😅🤤💦. Their first real kiss was in a taxi… and he made sure that she… uh… got off. Even when they were in the restroom and her foes were on the other side of the stalls🔥he ensured her pleasure… and when Noah called her and Xan forced her to talk to him while he… took… care of her was with his 👅 was🥵🔥😉. I love me an H that takes care of the h is ALL ways 👏🏻.
The story of Xander‘s brother’s death made me get so emotional and cry. I really felt his pain, even though it’s been years, it feels like it just happened as he recounts it.
The biggest complications in their relationship are their parents, their uncertain futures, and Noah, who has connections, pushing to get JJ back while jeopardizing Xan’s life.
I really enjoyed this book. There were some style/writing things that made me feel like this is an early book for the writer, but obviously, the steam allowed me to continue to read until the end. I loved that JJ didn’t go back with Noah (even though she kissed him) and I really liked some of the secondary characters.
⚠️safety squad⚠️
-no cheating
-the H is hit by OW after they’ve been together (right when the book opens so before he meets the h) and it’s mentioned that he was with a teacher
-the h is with OM, breaks up with him after he cheats, and kisses him after the break up once
-H’s brother’s death is detailed -
Xan and JJ were our perfectly imperfect main characters in Little Devil, an opposites attract, poor little rich kids story.
After one final straw, Xan’s parents ship him off to live with his aunt who is principal at a prestigious academy across the country. He first lays eyes on JJ at her 18th birthday party where it is immediately obvious that she’s not happy in the life that’s been mapped out before her. With his bad boy attitude, Xan leads JJ on a journey of self-discovery, in which they fall in love along the way. These characters and textbook “more than meets the eye” with JJ embracing her Little Devil when necessary and Xan becoming the cheerleader that JJ has sought her entire life.
Although it takes a bit for their relationship to become physical, their chemistry is sizzling and there’s enough action to keep it interesting from the first page to the last.
Bethany Winters was a new-to-me author, but I’ll definitely be adding her backlist to my TBR! -
"I dare you to speak your words, Jordyn James."
I first stumbled across
Bethany Winters when I read
Reckless at Westbrook High and fell totally in love with Wren and Levi. Now she's on my one-click list for every book🖤.
Little Devil is an opposites attract, high school (think 18+++), steamy romance between Xander and Jordyn, both from wealthy families and both struggling with their inner demons.
Xan doesn't follow the rules, he's cocky, full of himself and has been around a LOT of ladies. A LOT.
"He's too cocky. Too forward. Too...different. But damn, he makes it look good."
JJ is a princess on a pedestal, not a hair out of place, dating the perfect (not-so-perfect) boy and doing everything her super-rich, super-fake mother wants.
"I don't want a princess," I tell her, shamelessly moving my eyes over her sexy little outfit. "That little devil inside you? I wanna play with her."
Getting together would be a recipe for disaster. Right?
I totally loved this, every emotional, empowering, steamy (oh yep, did I mention it's steamy🔥🔥🔥) word of it 🖤💙💗.
Highly recommended if you love this genre.

The first half was really good.

I regret not DNFing this.
This book felt like Riverdale. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but it is the best comparison I can think of 🤣
Honestly, this was like a smut novella that tried way too hard to be something better. The writing was just so blah and made me cringe way too much for the length of the book 🥴 The number of times that "just now" was used was the most annoying thing ever.
"She got here just now" "She put on lipstick just now" "She pets the dog just now"
Which speaking of the dog, why was everyone in this god-forsaken book TERRIFIED of this dog??? The dog was legit just laying there and these people were FLINCHING away from it. Like what?
This was a high school romance so obviously, I expected some high school drama, but when I tell you that this shit was SO fucking unrealistic. Like holy shit. Just. Like. Riverdale. I just genuinely have no fucking words honestly.
Also this "group of friends" was the most bizarre thing on the planet. One second she liked a character the next they hated them. And why people were so against the relationship made no sense. Even the dude's cousin, who was supporting him and encouraging him, in the beginning, to get with her, was telling him to stay away from her halfway through the book. It was just simply a mess.
Oh, and the fact that there was a literal party EVERY DAY that Jordyn HAD to go to? Why? It got so repetitive and just boring. The relationship stopped developing and was just them having sex (which the smut was not that good. the 13-year-olds on wattpad do better) while the one guy just kept saying "you're a freak." "that's my girl." "she's mine." Like please stfu.
I gotta stop now cause I could go on and on when I really just want to forget I ever read this book.
OH P.S. this book has the DARE trope. Fuck. No. -
I'm a sucker for books with main characters still in high school. This was has been on my radar for awhile and I'm so glad I gave it a shot! It did not disappoint and solidified why I love these books.
I picked this one up on cover alone, but the story made me stick around!
"𝙄 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙨, 𝙅𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙮𝙣 𝙅𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙨."
Jordyn, better known as JJ has a mother who is beyond controlling and is all about image. Don't eat that, don't wear that, don't associate with those people. Her boyfriend is also that way. Things are different between and see knows something is going on. They are destined to fall apart and she's okay with that. She wants to finally experience life without everyone breathing down her neck.
Xander, the new bad boy in the school is just the person to help her spread her wings and regain her voice. He is cocky and a trouble maker. His parents sent him away to live with his aunt since they couldn't control him. He sets his sights on one blonde girl who he can tell is just yearning to be free... and he's ready to help her fulfill her desires and to break free.
This was a steamy enemies to lovers --- where you root for the bad boy from the start. He was perfect for her and their story was something else! -
Honestly it’s the same type of story as Punk 57 but ten times better. This book is your typical high school bad boy meets good girl romance, with lots of angst, cliché drama, steam, extremely hot dirty talk and loads of sex. There ended up being a lot of connection between the two MC’s and it developed very well as the story progressed. I liked how the author also spoke about their backstories rather than just focusing on their present selves, allowing you to understand them better and how they became who they are. It was a pretty predictable book but nonetheless, I enjoyed it.

Little Devil was a surprisingly really enjoyable book that I couldn't put down. When this book first started appearing in a FB group I was definitely skeptical because I'm not a fan of HS bully books and that's exactly what I assumed it was. So when I read the description and there was no mention of bulling I figured why not and plus it was free at the time. Anyway, it was a really good book, the writing flowed and it totally worked for me. Xavier Reid is the son of two famous parents whose brother was killed in a bar fight and they blame him. So after one-to-many chances to stop getting into trouble his parents ship him off to his aunt's house to finish out his senior year where she is the principle. There he meets Jordyn, rich girl, destined to marry her boyfriend who is the mayor's son, and unwanted daughter. Xavier is instantly smitten and plans on making Jordyn his. At first Jordyn appears uptight but once Xavier gets his hands on her she grows into an awesome young woman. I loved their connection and while they spend a lot of time in intimate situations, it wasn't too much that it took away from the story. Also, I can't forget the fun side characters that added another level of enjoyment. I will definitely look into more books from this author.

I rarely venture into YA territory anymore because finding a good YA is like finding a needle in a haystack. Alas, it’s hard for me to pass up a book that promises a pierced and tattooed hero who is known as the school “freak”. These types of characters *usually* have a whole lot of fucked up happening beneath the unapproachable exterior and that gets me going like nothing else.
But this hero, this story, these characters… they remind me why I rarely read YA. This book is trying so hard to be something beyond grade D smut and fails miserably. Every single scene is filled with nothing but hard dicks and wet pussies. Page after page was filled with cocky smirks, cliched dirty talk, and bodies unable to resist each other for whatever unknown reason. Insta lust is so not my thing, if you couldn’t tell. And there was nothing more to the connection between these two than a sexual one from the beginning. Hell, I can even enjoy some angsty high school drama but there was barely even that present.
This felt like a quick and dirty novella about the bad boy boning the good girl that was stretched out to be a full novel without adding any of the pieces that a novel requires - fleshing out the story, interesting character arcs and depth, an intriguing plot building to some type of a literary climax. It seems the author preferred to focus on creating a different type of climax and lost sight of what the point was. Yes, it was basically endless sex scenes filling up 90% of the page space until it fit the length required to be a novel. I cannot stand stories like this. If I want some easy, hot erotica then I’ll read some. But if I’m reading a romance novel then I expect there to be a bit more emotional depth and maybe some actual romance.
But wait, there’s more. We get the token gay character constantly hitting on every guy in the book and secretly banging the closeted jock. The h with the bitchy “best friend” who sleeps with her boyfriend. Oh, and the arrogant and cocky H who only thinks with his dick. I just loved how the opening scene of the book was the H calling ow “babe” and dismissing her after sex. Or how on the very first date he took the h on, he mentally described the pizza cashier as the “the cute girl behind the counter wearing a black and red uniform and a snap back to match”. Boy is it sexy when a hero takes note of how cute other ladies are (in their matching uniforms to boot) and treats the h like she’s lucky to be with him. *swoon* 😒
The author should’ve just made this one a novella and called it a day. -
I loved this book!
It was definitely a comfort book from start to end...
Low on the angst but high on the fun and sexy parts!
Xander was an amazing character!
So carefree and impulsive but honest and truthful to what he wanted.
JJ was his complete opposite, always doing everything to please others, she was a shell of the girl locked inside.
It was basically pretty rich girl fighting get feelings toward the hot rich bad boy, but their dynamics just worked really good. The moment they start their relationship, I was a goner!
Xander helped to free JJ from her own shackles and it was amazing to watch them fall in love!
I hated her mother and her "best friend" with a passion... Her ex boyfriend was just a spoiled twat!
Also I don't reaaaally know why this book isn't called I Dare You, because that's what it's all about between Xan and everyone else since the beginning... But I guess it's just an overused title.
Highly recommend it though!

DNF at 30% - I don’t think I’m the target audience for this author. 🤷🏼♀️
I thought maybe I could get past the H’s appearance but I couldn’t. 😬😬😬
I can tell this story is heading toward the girl-gone-wild trope which just isn’t for me.
Their “connection” doesn’t make sense and feels rushed.
Time for me to bail. I tried. 🥴 -

-
3.75 - 4 stars ☆ “Xan, I think I’m falling for you”
“Baby, I’ve already fallen”
yeah, I know the cover is not pretty but I’m still debating if it's a 3 or 4 stars to this book cause I really did enjoy reading this.
I liked the bad boy x good/rich girl trope in here, a cliche trope but I still ate it up every time. They’re still in high school tho which I don’t mind but if you don’t like that setting then this one may not work for you.
I didn’t expect myself to love this since Jordyn and Xander were just so entertaining that I couldn’t even put this book down and how Xander was like obsessed with Jordyn from the beginning. Mhm, you saw that right. And ofc the smut, it delivers cause there’s a lot in here, just what I needed 🤭
Him just calling her baby gets me every time, idk why 😫
“Xan”
“Yeah, baby?”
“Why are you staring at me like that?”
“Because I’m obsessed with you,"
And I’m not even joking that I’ll immediately fold for Xander Reid. It’s just some things he did and said to Jordyn were just HSKSJSKSJKSX 🥰 like the beach scene? the one in the library? omggg (they’re not smut scenes btw lmaoo) -
Little Devil had everything I like in contemporary romance - steaminess, humor, sweetness, and feels. I swooned, laughed, got teary eyed, and fanned myself (tattoos and piercings on a confident bad boy who knows how to work with what he's got, yes, thank you). Xan and Jordyn were perfect together, especially the ways they supported and built each other up when needed. The fact that Xan truly saw Jordyn and what she needed, when so many around her couldn't, was amazing. It took some time for Jordyn to accept what Xan was offering too and his single-minded pursuit of her, constantly showing her how good they could be together, really worked for me.
There was no other woman drama (between them, there's a cheating ex for Jordyn to start) and any doubts/bumps along the way were resolved quickly. The cherry on top of this awesomeness was an extended epilogue that left me with all the warm feelings. This is one I definitely see myself re-reading in the future and I'm hoping Ms. Winters has more along this vein up her sleeve for the future. -
It starts off with your usual High School kids bullshit. You're introduced to the Bad Boy Xan, sexy as sin, tattoo covered new kid, with his sad past, moral compass of a cousin and his hilariously sweet fuck buddy - "I'd look hot as fuck with your dick in my ass." Kain was HIFUCKINGLARIOUS!! Then you're introduced to Good Girl JJ, very pretty, popular and rich, dating an anally fucked potato and has her sidekick best friend, the ever DISloyal, cum bucket.
It has your opposite attracts, with some serious fucking steam, holy shit. Xan and JJ are freaking adorable together and I couldn't stop smiling or laughing or drooling. A LOT of drooling.
This surprised the shit outta me, loved it! -
Giiiirl. I absolutely LOVED this book! Xan is my new obsession and I need him!!! The story line was amazing and im sad it's a standalone!
-
3 stars
Loving the bad boy/rich girl trope! I understand that they’re based in high school, but the typos and funky sentence structure just kinda keep it at a “mediocre” rating. Hence, the three stars ♡
P/s: I'd love to read Travis and Kian story 👀 -
Brilliant book
I smiled so many times while reading this book.
JJ and Xan are perfectly imperfect - for each other. I loved so much seeing them get to their HEA.
Definitely a rainy day book - I feel so much happier after reading it.
Highly recommended. -
More please!!!
Noooooo....I don't want it to end. Like I need more just because it was simply that amazing! And yes I'm being dramatic and the ending was perfect which is why I want more. This has got to be one of the best books I have ever read. This was a new author for me and she exceeded my expectations. Not going to lie, I almost held off on reading this because the description made me think of JJ being a little rich brat but that's not what I got at all. This book was one of a kind and absolutely perfect from beggining to end. I fell so hard for Xan in this. I absolutely 100% loved that man. He was perfect and wasn't afraid to be who he was. He stood up for what he believed in and didn't take no for an answer if that makes sense. I loved how he didn't play childish games when it came down to it in their relationship. If you haven't read this yet you are missing out. I dare you to give this book a try! -
I feel like, objectively, the caliber of storytelling and plotting here was probably a 3… but, my enjoyment was a 5, so… 🙃
Low-angst and super sexy. The author knew what tiny details to include. Plus, I was picturing My Chemical Romance’s I’m Not Okay music video the entire time with our premise of ‘bad boy transfers to upper echelon prep school and rocks sheltered heroine’s world’. I loved it. -
4.5
Xan and Jordyn forever. I honestly picked this book up simply because of that cover. 🔥
Bad boy with a cocky attitude, messy hair, tattoos, piercings in all the right places and the girl who tries so hard to keep up with her rich and pristine image, mainly for her god awful mom and boyfriend.
Xan sees through that fake persona. He sees her true from. And he’s going to bring it out.
This is not insta-love and it was such a breath of fresh air.
Xan has to worth for her time and affection. They both are clearly attracted to eachother and do eventually hookup.
It’s hot and spicy and this author knows how to write some sex scenes.
“I don’t want a princess,” I tell her, shamelessly moving my eyes over her sexy little outfit. “That little devil inside you? I wanna play with her.”
Jordyn has an obsessive ex boyfriend that tries to stir up some shit it theirs zero cheating and an HEA. One that looks years into their relationship and it’s honestly my favorite type of HEA. -
LOVED IT SO MUCH!!!! This book takes place in high school, so expect high school level drama. And it’s not dark like Dirty Love (gawd I’m obsessed with that one). Think Punk 57, but filthier smut 5/5 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶

4½ stars. Full review to come.

I loved this book! It was recommended to me, and I went in blind, and I’m glad I did, because I might not have read it if I had checked out the description first! This is a fabulous story of opposites attract, and both Xander and JJ have heavy expectations to live up to within their families. Xander is a bad boy who doesn’t care that he’s a disappointment, and JJ tries her hardest to live up to her mother’s unreasonable requirements. I loved watching as these two fell for each other and dealt with all the obstacles thrown in their path.
I’ll definitely be checking out more by this author!
