Other people are not meant to love us
in the exact way we think they should
they are meant to set up a healing ceremony
at which we learn to love ourselves

Ceremony is a collection for those on the cusp of becoming. It is a reminder that we were not meant to fit into this world perfectly, but to live in such a way that might forge a path all our own. It is a reminder that we are one with each other and nature itself. It is a reminder that we contain within us the latent potential of every future possibility we can conceive of. It is a reminder that we often must release what is not ours in order to receive what is, that we are all born with a unique imprint to leave upon the world, and that self-love is not an infatuation, but a homecoming. Ceremony is a book written around the idea that the most unlikely moments are often the very ones offering us a chance to meet ourselves more deeply; it is a book for the ones who are ready to stop waiting and wondering, and dive all the way into who they were meant to be.

Ceremony Reviews

If you're looking for a book to start this year with, this is it.

"It is not what we are given or not, but how we take what's in front of us and turn it into all we ever need it to be."

That was amazing. I feel like all the thoughts going through my mind were shown by this book to me in such beautiful words. With this, it makes you feel that you and your thoughts are beautiful as well. :)

It answers the doubts, the fears and the longing.

It made me realize that I am full of possibilities and that the closed doors that fill my 'what ifs' might not have nothing special for me behind it.

I love how healing was defined here. Healing is not always pleasant. Healing is painful. Healing is human.

"The only way out is through."

I can already see myself re-reading this in the years to come.

    Thank you for the comfort.

will deffo be buying the physical copy, Brianna Wiest does not disappoint when it comes to poetry, self-love and answering fears and doubts that one might have.

“letting go is not the end, it is the beginning”

“you don’t heal some things you just start living in spite of their present which is when they heal themselves”

my absolute fav quote from this books was “you will not be the same person a year from now you must decide which way you will grow” and that is something i will be taking with me as we enter 2023 and i will deffo start applying it to uni ( my goal is to achieve 1st class by end of 1st year )

    4.5-5

i was very drawn to this book & i had a very strong urge to read it yesterday so i purchased the e-version & it was incredible. (also, yesterday was 1/11 so idk it makes sense)

at first, i wasn’t completely sold, the first few pages weren’t too memorable & didn’t really resonate with me, but as i continued i realized that the further you are into the book the deeper you delve into yourself for self-realization & understanding & it happens so naturally.

i definitely want to purchase a physical copy & re-read this in the near future. the next time around i want to go through it with more time & care to annotate it. i also want to keep a journal with me so i can dive deeper into myself to see what else i can work on & gain.

"What if there are things out there so good, you don’t even know you’re waiting for them?"

forever special because stella sent me a passage from this book and told me it reminded her of me 😭♥️✋

"Notice what makes you most envious—this is what you truly want. Notice what makes you feel most regretful—this is what you need to do next."

  • Tania Little

Possibly one of the best books I’ve ever read. I’ve been moved to tears a number of times and felt that Brianna Wiest was seeing into my soul and calling out my truths. I felt both vulnerable and empowered at the same time.

I can’t’ recommend this book enough for anyone on a self reflection and growth journey. Its makes me have all the feels.

  • Deanna C.

Beautifully written. Very comforting. The only reason why I am not giving this a 5-star rating is because I felt the phrase “meant to be” was overused, and at one point it seemed to be in every single piece, one after the other. Still, this is one of those books I will pick up again and again.

    I give this 4.5 ⭐️

  • Priscilla

After reading this book, my inner child is waving at the current Priscilla with ease and happiness 🥺❤️

This is the most memorable line from the book that changed the way I handle my feelings and emotions:

"What if instead of asking what you want to do, you began to think about what you want to feel?"

  • Christina

It’s 352 in my health and wellness journey - this book brings me so much warmth, comfort and healing energy. Brianna’s writing style is emotional intelligent, poetic, opens your heart and soul. 💕💕💕5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    2.5

  • rachel

3.5, this is the epitome of a feel-good book. it has plenty of important lessons, but some of them are extremely repetitive.

  • Dyan Eka

First time reading Brianna Wiest book. I like how she write in such beautiful and meaningful poetry.

  • Jade Geleynse

Very, very close to 5 stars. Many moments of introspection, and a fan of Wiest's for a while, but noticing that language use is at times dismissive of those without the inherent privileges she has.

  • Zoë Chatterton

A good book to open up if you need some advice. Not particularly one you sit down and read in one sitting. I appreciate her wisdom in times of need.

  • GreyAtlas

Gorgeous prose, heartfelt messages we all need to hear.

  • Cindy

Great book for journal prompts and inspiration

    “How to change your life

Read. A book you read this weekend can change your life for decades to come. If you can’t read, listen. Find podcasts, speeches, essays, anything that opens your mind and makes you consider something you didn’t before.”

“Be ambitious. Remember that the way you saw life lived was not how existence must be. Let yourself grieve. Get rid of the clutter, both mental and physical. Draw outside the lines. Break the chains. Remember why you came here, and what you were meant to do.

“What we gain in connection, we lose in context. We are stuck bridging all of our old identities into one. It’s hard to move on. It’s hard to let go. We are strangers to ourselves, because in a world where everyone is watching, we are more pieces of what they would want us to be than the whole of who we really are.”
