My Prince Charming is a dark king.
A ruthless ruler. A corrupt business man. A vampire.
For centuries he’s reigned alone.
But I’m here now and I’m coming for my throne.
I’m no longer the princess in the tower.
Or the damsel in distress.
I’ve been traded and treated like a pawn.
It’s time they learn they’re dealing with a Queen.

Midnight Queen (The Crimson Crown, #2) Reviews
-
After a seductive, slow burning beginning, Book 1 ended in an epic cliffhanger that is the catalyst for the romance and character journey of this duet's conclusion. And, like the atmospherically foreboding first story, book two continues to weave a tale of darkness and unexpected twists, with the epic love story of the besotted vampire king and his would-be queen- captured and lost to enemies.
Silas certainly continues to have his swoon-worthy traits- the broody, cold, and dominant vampire king whose humanity has been re-ignited in the wake of his unexpected love for his precious human. We see his beating, dead heart in this finale- as he tries to find his beloved Quincey. But Quincey continues to be the best part of this journey- a resilient and empathetic heroine who not only finds ways to survive the dangers of the world she’s fallen into, but she finds the inner strength and fortitude to rise as a worthy queen. No matter what is thrown her way, she finds a way to evolve and adapt, and I loved watching her journey.
Kayleigh’s writing continues to be both immersive and emotive, one that certainly plays nicely in this book, particularly as it relates to the depths of Silas’ despair and the real darkness Quincey has to face. Like most of her other books, the story pairs a pretty meta prose style with a broader mystery and spurts of high intensity action. A lot happens as this story wraps up- moments big and small designed for emotional impact. The ending has an epic feel, and even though I saw the imminent resolution, it was nonetheless soulful and beautiful.
Delighted by Kayleigh’s deepening niche in the world of PNR romance- excited to see what she does next! -
4.5/5⭐️ 3/5🔥
Bloody Kingdom needs to be read first to enjoy the full story of Quincey & Silas🩸🖤
Where to begin with this paranormal, vampire, kidnapping romance. This is book two of the Crimson Crown series, It starts off where book one left us hanging and the wait is finally over.
“Mon Soleil.” My Sun
Quincy has been caught in the crossfire of Silas’s enemies, she’s kidnapped once again but this time it doesn’t feel and sound so good. She’s out through a lot mentally and physically with her time with Gideon and just when she’s had enough, her knight and shinning armor is there but he’s no knight. Silas Laurent is the Bloody King, there relationship is taking a while to adjust and reading there growth, the strength they have to overcome. EEEPPPP, I’ve said this before. Silas & Quincey give me Caroline and Klaus vibes and I fucking loved the outcome of the Midnight Queen 👸🏽
“My King”
“My Queen”
TW/CW: kidnapping, torture, humiliation (and not the good kind) descriptive blood, violence and gore. -
I’m sad it’s over
Honestly, this duet was too short for me. I need atleast a 10 book series with novellas and all the works. I can’t get enough of Silas and Quincy and the high-speed life they live. The passion they have is out of this world and the way they complement each other is perfect! -
I don’t usually prefer romantic paranormal books, but this series.. oh my god.. let me start by saying how emotionally invested i was.. LIKE WHAT.. i certainly didn’t expect such a bond with the characters, and not just the main. I mean Duke ? or Lorcan (we luv lorcan). Even Lucy and Della… I mean the ending had me screaming (the beginning of the epilogue.. like, i am NOT ok after that)
OBVIOUSLY THE SMUT SCENES WERE EXCEPTIONAL
though there are some tw (u should probably check them out)
overall?
4/5
IT WAS GREAT and a great improvement in character and plot development from the previous book *bloody kingdom* (when i thought it couldn’t get any spicier)
the cliffhangers ? wow
the tension ? amazing
*hating each other to soulmates* trope? great
it’s like a twilight x 365 days crossover
recommend it <3
(ps this book has me searching for 300 year old french vampires that will call me their sun)
PS: just got my hands on the paper copies of the crimson crown series.. so i thought it was a GREAT opportunity to do a reread-athon (no that is totally not a thing i just invented). Nonetheless, i knew the ending, i knew the whole god damn plot .. did i still manage to almost have heart attack while rereading the first 4 paragraphs of the last chapter of midnight queen ..
I sure did
(that cliffhanger stole years from my life :) )
and yet .. i am here fully alive thanking you for another beautifully written spicy af series <3 -
I can’t wait for book 2 I loved the first one

"You are my heart Quincey Page"
WOW. THIS WAS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED!!!!
Right from the start it had me in its clutches. Silas with his mushy beating heart talk. Having me all wanton and needy per usual. Doing anything to get the woman he loves back and from a man more cruel and holding the longest grudge in the history of grudges. But NOBODY messes with the BEAST that is Silas especially when it involves Quincey. This book gave me ANXIETY. And I dont want to say why except, DANG READ THIS!!! Silas's anxiety over not having her, GAVE ME COLD SWEATS. I JUST NEEDED HER BACK WITH HIM...But look, Silas is just a baddie, it only took him two days to find her okkur.
I loved Quincey so much too. For someone SO different than the other "creatures" in this book, she had such FIRE!!! She was not some measly little scared human that cowers in the corner and cries and waits for her prince to save her. She kicks and fights back. AND I LOVED HER FOR IT!!!!
The side characters, I loved them. SO MUCH. The good ones and the bad!!! Rory, LORCAN, Duke, Della, Lucy, Rowena, Gideon.. They weren't JUST side characters. I wanted MORE from them. I want more books. I cannot wait to have stories from the good ones. And the bad ones were SO FREAKING BAD, I found myself getting SO ANGRY at the things they were doing, I had to set my kindle down. And I FELT the emotion in Silas when Gideon would do things to Quincey. And at the end, one of those scenes, something that Silas did to one of the bad people. SHEW. GAVE ME CHILLS. And I yelled out loud "FINALLY!"
I LOVED LOVED LOVED THE ENDING. LONG LIVE THE KING AND QUEEN
Kayleigh King is just such an incredible writer, I cannot wait for the next book she writes. -
2.5/5 ★ Part 2. We ended on a cliffhanger/middle of the story... Thankfully this book added a breath of fresh air in the way of a cheeky, Irish, sexy, tattooed, hottie vampire, hotttttie, LORCAN, who made the end of this story more colorful.
THOUGHTS
Picking up where we left off, FMC is in a real bad situation. MMC is losing his sh*t... calls hottie Lorcan to help out.
This second half of the story centers around the bad-guy part of the plot and the threat they pose to the FMC and the lengths the MMC will go to to keep her safe.
A little more spice in this one. And one super hot scene.

I don’t normally read vampire romances but this duet has been calling to me for a while and damn was I surprised how much I loved it. I fell in love with Silas Laurent right from the beginning, an asshole H is my weakness. Quincey was the perfect match for Silas in every way, he tried to fight his growing attraction but there’s only so much control the vampire king has!!
As much as I loved Silas I also loved one of the side characters, Lorcan was hilarious with his little one liners and I am hoping we get to see more from him in the future, he and Quincey were trouble together and I am loving the friendship that has formed between them.

"Be my light, but still dance with me in all my darkness"
Midnight Queen is the final book in the Crimson Crown Duet, and Bloody Kingdom should be read first.
"For centuries I'd lived without a beathing heart"
AH-MAZE-ING! I was captivated from the first line.
None stop action, with steamy deliciousness (with one scene that'll leave you fanning yourself).
Quincey is an absolute fearless badass, with so much compassion, you can't help but to love her.
Silas, we see a fierceness in him that makes him even hotter then he was in Bloody Kingdom, as if that was even possible.
Midnight Queen has so many twists that you didn't see coming, and so many OMG moments, that'll leave you wanting more.
Quincey and Silas' story was a one of strength, loyalty, friendship and love, I couldn't have loved it more.
I'm going to leave you with this..............LORCAN! 🔥🔥🔥 -
Loved this book! so sad that it's over because I would love to see more of Quincey and Silas. I loved how we really got to see Quincey grow into this strong and confident woman who knows her worth and isn't afraid to show it off to everyone else. I also love that Silas only shows his tender side when he is with Quincey. I do wish we got a little more after the next to last chapter. Wish we had some insight from Quincey's POV, but really other than that it was a great book.
-
The second and last book in the Crimson Crown Duet. Picking up where we left of in Bloody Kingdom we watch Quincey turn into the queen who was meant to rule by Sila's side. There are many twists and turns along the way. Betrayal, hidden agendas, and plots to get rid of the human. We are introduced to a witty, smart mouthed, Irish Vampire... who really needs his own book... Lor. It ends with a surprising plot twist I never saw coming and nicely wraps up all lose ends.
Great vampire paranormal romance. -

We had Silas MFKN Laurent.....
Now we have Quincey MFKN Page!!!
Quincey really showed up and showed out this book!! She was fierce, determined, strong, and cunning. Everything I love in a FMC. She truly show her Queen Colors and proved that she had the gumption to take on anyone or anything.
I enjoyed how this story arc'd and the ending was the HEA I wanted. -
Midnight Queen is the final book in the Crimson Crown duet. It was the perfect ending to the perfect couple!
In book one, I was a little annoyed with Quincey’s behavior. Book 2 she is a total badass and I couldn’t get enough of her!!

3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars! Finally finished this duet. An ok read.

4/5. A great sequel to Bloody Kingdom. Spice level is also good. There is a lot going on in the book so strap in for the ride.
Overall, I’m sad that Quincy and Silas only had two books because I loved their chemistry. But it does work for them. -
I have always been a fan of Southern Gothics, and how the wake breeze of the night was able to carry dark whispers of pain and beauty. Book two in this amazing series has left me utter contempt and glowing. I was left gutted by book one, and cursed the day I ended it. This book perfectly picks up where the first one ended, and helps you see the Queen that has always been with us. Midnight Queen doesn’t show us how Quincey turns into the badass she is, but explains how everyone else learns about the badass she’s always been. My heart was pounding, blood was racing and cheeks turned red throughout the entire book. If you loved book one, you choose an eternity with book two.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review: -
*spoilers* I loved this series. It was very sweet. The witty banter was perfect. Loved the relationship between all the characters. The ONLY thing that really disappointed me was we didn't get to read the scene when Silas finally bites her which was apparently a part of the mating. The mating thing was almost like thrown in there. It was mentioned once to give reason why he couldn't stand Rowena and then you're excitedly waiting for him to propose the mating to Q and it never happens! It's never mentioned again until the very end where it's all wrapped up super quick with a "we got married, he bit me, we're mated and happily ever after". I didn't mind how it ended at all just super bummed we didn't get to read that bite and mating scene. Loved the series tho! Great read with excellent spice that's very well written and doesn't feel to much. Definitely going to be on my recommendation list.

Duet Review: 4.5 Dark Vampire Stars
"I will tear the world apart until there is nothing but ruins left, and I will rip the hearts out of the chests of anyone that dares get in my way of finding my own."
I am so glad I downloaded the first book in this duet for free from the RomanceBookworms.com 2400 Stuff Your Kindle event. I never would have discovered this series otherwise and that would have been a such a shame!
This is an enemies-to-lovers story where it truly started off with a bang. Silas needs a nurse to take care of his dying friend and, much to his aggravation, Ian (the dying friend) demands this one nurse in particular. So Silas kidnaps her. And blackmails her. And keeps her held hostage in his house, never to leave the premises until her job is complete. These two clash in hottest way. Quincy (FMC) is far from the docile, scared, hostage that Silas excepts her to be.“I didn’t wait hundreds of years to find you, only to lose you. You’re mine. The angel of death himself will have to take you from me, that’s the only way I’m letting go of you now.”
This was one of those rare series where I was so sad it was finished. I really want to keep reading about this couple and their future adventures. I got so attached to the main characters. I loved their journey. I loved everything about this duet and I'm really sad their story is over. But I'm glad to have discovered this author and I'm extremely excited to read more from her.
I have to tell you, this author is really really good at character development. I mean she does such an excellent job with it that she's able to make us really connect with these people. She can write characters and events so well that I was 100% invested in everything that happened with them. Everybody in this story was multifaceted and unique. There is no black and white here. No one is all bad or all good. They were all complex and they had backstories and emotions and...and...and...I was even super attached to the side characters! I don't usually care about side characters!“Did you just use a severed arm like a baseball bat on that guy’s head?” Wiping my bloody hands on my pants, I shrug. “That’s fucking brilliant. I’m a little jealous I’ve never done that before.”
The world building was amazingly done.
The relationship building couldn't have been done better!
The steam was on point. It was a solid 3.5/5 on the spice scale. Not too much but not too little. These books are definitely story/plot driven while still giving us the spice that we need. The author balances it all really well.
I will definitely be rereading this series in the future and I'm already excited about it. Maybe I'll even reread them right now...😏

Long live the Queen indeed! This whole book gives “a King only bows to his queen” vibes and I’m living for it. Silas is so unbelievably mushy — you would swear Quincy shits gold and cries diamonds the way he falls to his knees for her. And as he should! That’s his woman! I like how their relationship was tested by multiple factors inside and outside their control. It gave the readers a real chance to see them work out difficulties as a couple.
I love how we get a lotttt more of the psychological battles that were absent in the last book. Staying strong all the time is unrealistic and boring. We all need to have some Menty B’s every once in a while. The author even wrote a very accurate panic attack that made my heart squeeze. I’ve always thought the internal battles are the most intriguing and relatable.
Considering that we spend more time in the characters’ heads, there are less spicy scenes in this book compared to the first. But to make up for the lack, the scenes themselves are extra super spiced, topped with some kinky-dinky seasoning.
I think this book gives a powerful, truly feminist standpoint on what it means to be equals as partners. Yes, Silas physically overpowers Quincy and she’ll never be as strong. But that’s the thing: she doesn’t have to in order to be just as respectable. She’s strong in a different, albeit equally important way: where Silas is unyielding and short-sighted, Quincy is receptive and values a more holistic viewpoint. Her decisions are not guided by anger but rather by observation and intuition. It’s a beautiful balance. A yin and yang. The masculine and the feminine. It’s not a competition, it’s not “anything you can do, I can do better.” He rules through brute force and fear, and she rules through cunning manipulation and intuition. Silas is a leader, but when his lady talks, he listens. He respects her. He knows she is intelligent and he values what she thinks. He is proud to have her as his woman. That is what we wanted when this whole feminism thing started. We didn’t want to work in construction, we just wanted men to take our insights seriously.
Critiques and espoilersss:
I cannot believe that we were robbed of their wedding and their mating ceremony! I expected a three chapter extravaganza of love and passion and spice and all we got was a little description in the epilogue!! I feel cheated, bamboozled and flat out lied to. In general, the entire ending was pretty rushed and I felt like the happily ever after should never be rushed! Let me revel in the joy and happiness!
Some characters that were very important didn’t feel super fleshed out. Lucy was just there?? She came in when it was needed for the plot and then was forgotten about when she wasn’t needed. Same for Duke. I didn’t feel especially tied to them in any way, which was a shame because they were pivotal characters.
Silas putting a tracker in Quincey’s necklace had me laughing. Of course he would, the overprotective freak. -
🔥HONEST ARC REVIEW🔥
***do not read if you haven’t read Bloody Kingdom***
Well i don’t even know where to begin! For one i can’t even begin to think about that cliffhanger that Kayleigh left us from the first book 🤦🏽♀️ but oh boy she FREAKIN DELIVERED on this book!!! 🔥🔥
I thought i couldn’t fall more in love with Silas and Quincey but i was proven wrong…once more.
Kayleigh did an amazing job in developing these characters into ones that are going to haunt your mind forever!
Our King of the Night, Silas is every bit of dark, handsome and extremely stubborn that we would expect and he has finally met his match with Quincey. In the first book you see ho Silas tries to scare Quincey but what he doesn’t expect is for Quincey to not be afraid of him
she loves and endures every single part of him and she isn’t the woman who wants a knight in shining armor she wants a king and she makes sure everyone knows who Silas is 👑
“Silas isn’t a knight,” I snarl. “He’s a f*cking king.”-Quincey
You will fall head over heels in love with Silas and see how far he truly will go for his Queen and cherish her the way she deserves. I would love to keep talking about Silas but i don’t want to give away anything in the story but i will leave you with this one quote from him about Quincey “She’s the woman who holds whatever remains of my heart. She’s the peace in my hurricane, but still a storm in her own right. And as she’s forced me to realize, she’s a queen. My queen.”
Oh my goodness i don’t even know where to begin with my girl Quincey!!! She has transformed into a captivating, cunning, beautiful, full of danger woman!!! She comes to the conclusion long before others do and i absolutely love how she states it “I am not something that can be used or traded. I am not broken and I’m not a pawn. I am a f*cking queen.” Even in her most vulnerable times, darkest hours, Quincey knows who she is and she wants to make sure everyone else including Silas knows who they are dealing with!
As you dive into this story you will have your emotions and thoughts all over the place and be like Kayleigh why are you doing this to me??!! But just trust in her evil genius ways that she will give you an epic story! Be ready for an epic story and i can’t wait for you to meet these other characters!!! Can’t wait for their stories!!!!! Love you Kayleigh, you are the true definition of a Queen 👑 -
Tons of action and a love story born out of tragedy.
Okay I absolutely loved this book, it has everything you need in a PNR book. If you're looking for action, romance, tragedy, a few laughable moments, and oh we can't forget the hot steamy moments this book has throughout it also. You will definitely want to read the conclusion to Quincey and Silas' story. I won't lie I'm still a bit shook about Ira and I may have shed a few tears because once again this author gave me a memorable character to love. Also she gives you a new character of Lorcan, and he is absolute need to this book with his inappropriate humor to lighten the dark storyline up a bit.
Quincey is by far one of those fierce and reckless at times character's you find yourself holding your breath when reading her scenes. She was an absolute fighter in this book and she was also the one to give compassion when needed. Her character was the heart of the story that demanded to be heard.
Silas was still his broody dominant vampire self, but you also finally get his softer side when dealing with Quincey this time around. I feel like his character had the most growth in this book. We see him finally acknowledge his feelings for Quincey and how he makes her his queen in every way possible.
This book starts out right where book one ends and it's a nail biter of a few chapters with Quincey being kidnapped and Silas being out of his element at times. It's definitely dark and has a lot of action happening in it this time, but also with the addition of Larcan you get a light reprieve from how dark it could be with his humor. I definitely feel like this was such a great ending for Silas and Quincey, but I'm hoping it won't be the last we see of them though. I loved this world the author created and the characters she brought to life and just made you fall for them all. I highly recommend this book if you like an action packed love story with supernatural elements. This author always brings a fun and even dark twist to her stories but gives you a satisfying ending with characters you can't help but want more of. Definitely a must read! -

Silas is dark, brooding, and a King amongst mortals and vampires alike. Quincey is full of sass, lightness, and a perfect counterpart for him. I wouldn’t exactly call this a grumpy x sunshine - because she gives just as much as she gets - but the two characters compliment one another perfectly.

5 The Queen Has Risen Stars
Kayleigh has slayed the second book in this duet, I devoured this cover to cover in one sitting unable to stop, unable to put it down. Silas and Quincey have quickly become my absolute favorite couple of hers and I will reread this duet over and over again.
This book picks up right where book 1 left off, you are immediately thrust into the darkness and depravity of what’s happening to Quincey now that she’s been taken. Quincey is pure unadulterated strength, the levels that she exudes during her capture are unprecedented. This girl may have been stolen but she does not cower, she does not show weakness, she proves that she was built to be a QUEEN.
Seeing this new side to Silas really humanizes him, he’s lost without her and he’s frantic to find her. He knows he only has so much time to do so, and he loses his mind in the process. You can feel his anxiety burst from the pages while he desperately tries to find the person he loves more than anything. Seeing him come unhinged due to her capture really opens your eyes to how much he truly loves her and would burn down the world to get her back.
This story is enthralling and utterly captivating. Kayleigh's voice is one to watch, the way she brings stories to life so vividly and with so much emotion behind her words will leave you fiending for more.

I loved the side characters; they were funny and charming, but Lorcan stole the show with his witty one-liners. I know this man has a story to tell, and I bet it would be kinky and hilarious, so I hope he gets a book.

I cannot wait to read more from Kayleigh King! -
“The princesses in fairy tales have to fight for their happily ever afters, Quincey. Fight for yours.”
And that is how you end a duet..
I just love Quincey, she is the FMC you hope for in a book like this.
She keeps herself intact and doesn't let up on it in the slightest. Even after it is all said and done... she is still herself but with more. Silas & Quincey ground each other in a way that pulls you in and you get that safe feeling, you just get it.
I wanted it to keep going, I wanted more. Lorcan, Duke, well more Lorcan honestly. Quinceys journey to now is what makes this book. What we learned and seen in Bloody Kingdom was just the tip of the iceburg. There was so much going on that it kept you in it.
“Be my light, but still dance with me in all my darkness.”
It took me longer than I wanted to finish this book but I am glad that I finished it and I can only hope there is more to come for the characters mentioned, I wont say who
Quincey & Silas were complete opposites to start but then slowly and ultimately it was tragedy that brought them closer and then to the end.
This duet started out as a great "I don't like you" to your face vibes for the books but once the "touch her and die" vibes come out to play and the "you're mine" statements fly.. buckle up buttercup cause it is about to be a bumpy spicy fun ride! -

Midnight Queen kicks us right back into the action of where we left off in Bloody Kingdom, and when I tell you I couldn't love Silas ans Quincey more, I really didn't think I could, until this book.
Silas is ready to burn the entire world down to get his queen back and it was everything. Even though in his eyes Quincey makes some questionable choices there's nothing be wouldn't do for his Mon Soleil.
The addition of Lorcan in this book was absolutely everything I needed and more. He was so sarcastic, I fell head over heels in love with him. His one liners were fantastic, his banter with everyone was incredible, and you could really see that he was rubbing off on everyone. And then Kayleigh went and hit us with THAT scene🥵
Quincey went through so much in this book, that to see the way she healed from the past trauma was just *chefs kiss* and then the way that girl got her revenge, I couldn't of asked for it to been done in a better way. She truly was a queen, and more importantly, grew and proved to everyone that she was Silas' equal in every god damn way.
Kayleigh can we please have a Lorcan book, I'd die for one at this point! -
I am so sad this series ended but I'm glad it did the way it did. Seriously a favorite of mine and I absolutely LOVE that no matter what Quincy stayed the same and didn't lose herself or her fiesty attitude throughout. I also really liked the new character brought it! Lorcan is hilarious and I wish we got more on and and Lucy since we found out she might know a little more than we thought.
This book continues after Quincy was taken in the last book. We have some major things happen here and Silas is trying desperately to find her. Quincy, brave and strong as ever holds it down and doesn't let what's happening to her make her lose her wit. And then later in the book she handles stuff like a boss. No joking either she handles it like the queen she is. I highly recommend anything by this author as I love all the books I've read from her. She is definitely takes these books to a new level and for an avid reader like me surprising me or keeping me entertained isn't easy so much anymore. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next! -
“Her heart is the most priceless item
I have ever been gifted.”
MIDNIGHT QUEEN (THE CRIMSON CROWN BOOK 2)
This book starts from where we left book 1. And the plot twist in this book were omg i loved it. I looved Lorcan and i want a book about him. He’s one of my favorite Side Characters.
I feel so bad for the things Quincey had to go through but because of it I realized how strong she actually is. I loved how attentive Silas was with her even when she did want him to be it was so cute. And i saw the plot twist coming from miles away but it was so satisfying to see Quincey and Silas realize it.
This book was wonderful I definitely recommend.
“She effortlessly became my heart when I was resigned to the fact I'd never have one again.”

Kayleigh king is back with with the concluding part of Quincy and Silas’s story, and let me tell you if you fell in love with Silas I’m book one then you will absolutely love him in this concluding part of their story.
“Midnight Queen” picks up where the first book in this duet left off. Quincey has been taken and Silas is on a mission to find his beloved and he will not stop till he finds her, every king needs his queen and Quincey is his queen and always will be. This story is packed with non-stop action that will have your heart racing. I absolutely loved this duet and Quincey and Silas are my favourite couple of Kayleigh’s so far.
Kayleigh king did an outstanding job with this duet and I cannot wait to see what she has lined up for us next.
If your looking for a epic vampire romance to sink your teeth into then I highly recommend you read this amazing story.
