BOOK 8: THE MISSING MILLIONAIRE
Wheelchair-bound Joshua Gumme has the Midas touch — in business, love and cards. That is, until his body is found floating in the River Don. Who killed him and why?
BOOK 9: THE MISSING THIEF
Two victims. One ultra-glamorous thief spotted fleeing the scene. Who is the mystery woman in the raincoat? And what is she running from? It’s up to DI Angel to piece it all together before the killer strikes again.
BOOK 10: FIND THE LADY
Can Angel find the lady in the blue dress? She’s already killed once. Witnesses swear they saw her at the grisly scene. But Angel knows that’s not possible. His prime suspect is in a portrait. And it’s over sixty years old.
BOOK 11: THE MISSING MODEL
Wigmaker Peter Wolff is found dead in his workshop. The place has been burned, leaving no clues, no DNA and no motive. Can Angel unravel the mystery of Wolff’s murder before anyone else pays the ultimate price?
BOOK 12: MURDER IN BARE FEET
Millionaire Charles Pleasant is shot dead in a scrapyard. Near the spent handgun shells, Angel finds one crucial clue: a print left by a bare foot. Who killed the playboy millionaire? And why ever weren’t they wearing shoes?
BOOK 13: THE MISSING HUSBAND
Wealthy Selina Line marries a man she hardly knows. Then she vanishes. Who stands to gain from her demise if not her new husband? There’s just one complication. As Angel soon realises, Selina’s husband never existed.
BOOK 14: THE CUCKOO CLOCK MURDERS
A writer is murdered on a lonely retreat. In his bed, the killer left a shocking something . . . And that’s not all. Wherever Angel goes, there’s a cuckoo clock. An unlikely coincidence or a threat he shouldn’t ignore?
Detective Michael Angel: Books 8-14 (Yorkshire Murder Mysteries #8-14) Reviews
-
Box Set 8-14, Inspector Angel, author Roger Silverwood - These short novels (less than 300 pages) keep your interest and give a glimpse of Yorkshire, England. A nice diversion. Inspector Angel is top detective in his town. He always finds the bad guy or gal, sometimes with unusual techniques. The seven books are:
8-Missing Millionaire, 9-Missing Thief, 10-Find the Lady, 11-Missing Model, 12-Murder in Bare Feet,
13-Missing Husband, 14- Cuckoo Clock Murder. All are excellent reads. The 3rd box set 15-29 is available. I’ll be reading it next. -
Angel always gets his man
I enjoyed this set of DI Michael Ángel stories. Roger Silverwood twists together a number of trails to which Angel has to unravel and decide which trail fits which culprit. In each case Angel establishes some facts and then relies on his "Detective" instincts to guide him to the culprit/s. Nice easy reading through my enjoyable. Could easily see Angel, Superintendent Harker, DS's Gawber & Crisp plus DC Ahmed becoming a great TV series. Worth a read -
Michael Angel's Sword of Justice.
A well told tale of a tenacious police officer who ultimately always gets his man.
What with cuckoo clocks, dead pigs, murder most foul, and a senior officer who is the ultimate jobsworth, he has much to contend with. And despite all the odds, he gets there in end. -
Interesting end
Clever, lots of different threads.
I will look for more from this author. I like the DI. He’s human and has a heart. -
Good stories
I have already read the first seven in the series and just finished the next seven. Good stories though the jokes weren't so bad this time but still not needed. -
Easy enjoyable reading
I loved reading both series of the Detective Angel books. Lots of twists and turns kept it interesting and enjoyable. Really liked the characters portrayed. -
Good read
Enjoyed this book, however I found the repeated wrinkling of the nose a bit annoying other than that quite enjoyable -
Detective Michael Angel
Excellent read! Loved the pig in the bed!
Well written and very morish.
Good bedtime reading, easy to sleep afterwards. -
Probably not everyone’s cup of tea but I so much enjoyed this series. Having read one to seven, eight to 14 did not disappoint. Easy reading, no swearing, no action as such, just typical clever deducing British copper at work who never fails to disappoint and ‘always gets his man’. Great holiday reads and am well into the third series of books 15 to 21, well recommended.
