Scarred, jaded and disillusioned, my reclusive life suited me just fine. I thought nothing could tempt me back to the world… until her.

Hunter
I’ve lived two lives.
In one, I was rich and blind to reality.
In the other I secluded and alone. A recluse who wanted no part of the world.
Then, I met her. A girl who isn’t scared off by my gruff demeanour or scarred face.
She’s infuriating and persistent.
She’s kind and sweet.
She’s perfect.
Also, whether she knows it yet or not, she was mine, from the moment I saw her.

Luna
My mother warned me not to have dreams, but I didn’t listen.
I had plenty of them, and one by one, I ticked them off… until I met an obstacle standing in my way.
Hunter Lennox.
Big and burly as a mountain bear, he’s just as grouchy and unmoveable.
But I don’t give up on dreams easily, as long as I can keep my head on business, and off the way he makes me feel, everything will be fine.
Why does that feel so hard?

Read as a standalone or as part of the Journey's Close world, a small town full of OTT mountain men and the women they love.

No Cheating, always SAFE, high emotion, high steam and always a HEA. Come on up the mountain, Journey's Close is waiting.

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Luna is sat in a bar on the outskirts of town wondering where she is going to sleep that he and what she is going to do now her mum has decided she needs to leave. They have never had a great relationship and the rotating door of men haven’t helped. At twenty three she has yet to discover sex, she was saving herself for the one. And that’s when Hunter walks in to the bar, she’s never been attracted to anyone before and suddenly she has urgent feelings for this stranger. It’s not until the next morning that she realises who he is, she’s been trying to get in contact with him to see if he would be willing to let her use his honey in her own beer, things change quickly and she finds herself being sent packing. Hunter doesn’t stay gone for long, will he let her explain her question or has their time been and gone?

Hunter had a life years ago that was perfect, women at the drop of a hat and more money than he could possibly spend. Everything changed for him after his face ends up scarred, he soon realises who his true friends are and that the women who had hung off his every word previously weren’t there for him but his money and he had no intention of being anyone’s meal ticket. Escaping that life and starting another is how he finds himself living in a secluded log cabin hidden in the woods. He hardly ever ventures into town but when he arrived at the bar his attention is immediately caught on the shy beauty sat at the bar. He’s hooked on her straight away and can’t believe he’s found the woman of his dreams. Well that is until he gets hold of the wrong end of the stick and casts her aside like last night fish and chip paper. When he recognises he made a mistake can he get Luna to agree to a second chance or has she given up on him already?

Hunter is a complex character with a lot of angst and dealing with his past is always at the front of his mind, he believes no one could want him now. Luna is a sad character but positive in what she wants. But these two move at Walt spends and things get muddled. Good story that reads well and of course there is some steam. It’s safe and short enough for a lunchtime read. 4*

Hunter came from a very rich and important family. He was very popular especially with women and he enjoyed being with as many as possible. Then came the car accident where Hunter ended up with a big scar on his face. He thought his luck with the ladies would be over but he discovered there were still women who wanted him. Hunter was disgusted because he knew they just want is his money. Hunter decided to go far away and live off the grid as a recluse. HER MOUNTAIN MAN RECLUSE by Gia Bailey is a short story that takes place named Journey's Close, Alaska. An older man / younger woman romance. Written by Gia Bailey.

Luna Spence has lived a life not so pleasant. A mother that cared more about her latest new boyfriend than she ever cared about her daughter. Luna & her mother have come to an end. Luna has been asked to leave & not sure were she will go. She is sitting at a bar drinking a non-alcoholic drink when she meets a man named Hunter. He has some scars that he tries hard to cover, but all Luna's sees is an impressive specimen of masculinity. She makes a decision that she would be going home with him tonight. She was still a virgin who was sick & tired of being lonely.

Hunter Lennox was living a recluse life in a cabin on a mountain. He seldom comes to town, but when he meets Luna at a bar, he can't believe his luck. He can't believe he ever did something to deserve meeting her. Tonight she would fall asleep in his arms. But the morning would bring a misunderstanding that would tear these two apart. It doesn't take long till they find themselves back together.

This is the fourth book in the Journey's Close, Alaska series. It reads well as a standalone. I haven't read the first three books and was able to enjoy this one. I'm definitely going back to read the other books. This book has alternating first person POV’s and is a steamy, quick read. Luna and Hunter are drawn to each other from the very first moment they met, but a misunderstanding may end their relationship before it really gets started. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

This is a really great read. The characters were well-developed, likeable and suit one another. Their passion and chemistry for each other is palpable! Well done! A must read!

  • Amy

    Very sweet story.

The men of Journey's Close are dreamy heroes...sensitive, loving, and kind.

The epilogue was weird though. What the hell?

When is the next one coming out?

This has been another charming, fun series! Charming characters, sweet well thought stories. Just really enjoyable all the way around

    Grumpy man meets sweetheart

Probably my second favorite of the seriies (#3 was my fav), this was a sweet read. Sure, there were issues, but every book needs a few. I liked the insta-love but delayed gratifiation of the story. I also loved that, like the previous books, there are hints of stories to come, and especially like that it's not necessarily a setup for the next book.

There was Phantom of the Opera reference and nothing more could make me love it more. We have a very emotional guy WHO GETS HIS HEARTBROKEN AND WORKS WITH BEE'S. We love him so much and someone who really just wants to look beyond the flaws and just fall for him.

My favorite out of the Journey's Close men.
