Opening to Channel: How to Connect with Your Guide Reviews

People come to me for advice. They think I give great advice. I say...they're right :-) But...sometimes someone comes to me with a problem that I dont feel I can help with, and just as I'm about to say "Im sorry, I don't know how to advise you about that", I open my mouth and what actually comes flying out is AMAZING, PHENOMENAL advice beyond what I felt I could deliver. While the words are coming out, I get a "knowing" about this problem and I can see it from different angles. And I get a confidence that what I'm giving is very sound advice. After the conversation is over, I'm left thinking "What the....? Where did all that come from??". I've learned that this is a form of channeling. My guide speaks to others through me sometimes.

Ive always thought channeling was when someone goes into a trance and invokes some otherworldly being to jump into their body and take over, and then they start speaking in a voice thats dramatically different than their usual voice, and when it's over the person 'wakes up' and has no memory of what they said or did. This seemed pretty extreme to me and it's not something I would have ever volunteered to do with my own body. I've learned that this is called trance channeling and its only 1 form of channeling. The way I channel is pretty much the opposite of what I imagined channeling to be. Im fully conscious, aware, and in control of my body and everything I say and do, although I dont always know what I'm going to say before it comes out.

Before I read this book, channeling for me was just something that happened that I didnt know was even happening. This book gave a name to what I experience sometimes, and I learned about the process, how to control it, and different ways to use it. I have no plans to become one of the channels who gives readings for others, but now at least I know that I have this ability, and I know how to use it to get answers to my own questions and help with my own life. Great book...

A nice practical guide to developing your ability to channel your spirit guide or any other higher being. Takes patience and practice and a willingness to read over the sections several times, However, very rewarding when an understanding of the methodologies is reached and successful contact is made. I highly recommend it for anyone who wishes to enter the field of channelling.

I thought that this book was good

This is a wonderful book for beginners and I agree with most that the steps are clear to follow. I wish sometimes they would address some people like me who have been asking my spirit guide to tangibly connect with me for a long time and it all seems to be left to my imagination station. I sometimes feel there is something wrong with me that I don't get a 'name' or an 'image' or whatnot. I need a book that specifically addresses this discouragement and I thought this would but not really.

I would recommend the book and I am glad it is on my shelf.

If you definitely want to learn to channel, then this is a book that will definitely teach you that. I already speak to my guides regularly, and I thought this book would give me some insight into connecting on a deeper level with my guide, since that is what the subtitle purports to some extent. Unfortunately, this book really is all about channelling. It mentions the nature of spirit guides only in a cursory fashion, and in fact I found all of the introductory materials rather cursory. This is a book that will require you to practice regularly, and the exercises are geared toward you learning to channel. Furthermore, I was turned off of channeling as it is repeatedly made clear that the channelers often do not even understand, or remember, what they are channeling! Why would I want to learn to channel when I can already speak directly to my guides? I have always been a very utilitarian practitioner in all my spiritual endeavors and I feel like channelling is just... too involved a process. That may simply be my own bias. The book did explain channelling in a manner I could understand. Unfortunately, it really wasn't what I was looking for and it turned me off channelling altogether.

Very nice how we can clearly identify who is speaking by the way they express themselves

  • Franny Adams

I found this a really good introduction into meditation and connecting with spirit guides.

  • Claudia Loureiro

Opening to channel is a fantastic book for people who are interested in exploring their abilities and minds on a different, new level. For those just getting started and knowing there is "more" out there, this book walks the student step by step and covers every base. Clearly written, informative and with examples of people's experiences. A definite must read!

Whether or not you are born with a gift, this is amazing book.

  • Sarah

excellent! great read for any lightworker, healer, teacher or anyone awakened to their spiritual path

I am not sure how to rate this. It's not like I have a basis for comparison. Is this a good how-to channel book? Not really sure. I enjoyed it, it was interesting and not as "out there" as I expected it to be. It's funny because this book is fairly old (15+ years) and it's totally like that whole "The Secret" thing. I never read that but I saw the Oprah and a lot of the terms, wording, ideas are very similar. (Even though this book is about speaking to your guide). Anyway, once I practice some of the meditation techniques, I may have to revise my rating one way or another. I just have to wait for my cystals to arrive.... (yeah, that's right!)

A good book for newbies to channeling.

Recommended by a knowing source! I can't wait to start it.

I read this back in 1988 when I began studying my journey into the world of summoning spirits. My research took me from medieval grimoires to seances to even the New Age where people supposedly "channel" which is more or less a form of spiritual possession. Understand, possession is used quite regularly in the African religions so it is nothing to be feared when you know what you're doing and have an initiated priest with you. Channeling however is more perilous since you do not know who the NPE (Non-Physical Entity) is who is possessing you nor what aims It has towards you. African priests summon specific spirits onto a medium to be possessed thus they know whom to speak with whereas with channelers?...

I first ran into this book when I picked up her other book written with co-author Da Ben, another channeler, on prosperity. After that, I thought I'd give this one a try. Well.... it's a bit TOO New Agey for my taste and as I said, the mediumship aspect of the channeler is a bit out of touch in my opinion. Why? Not enough safety is assured. I'm sorry but surrounding yourself with "love" is NOT going to stop any spirit you open yourself to from any harm should something go awry. I give it 3/5 stars only because it is one of the better channeler books out there on the market by comparison.

Can I give this book 6 stars? Please? It's so good! I love the vibe in the book! You can really feel Orin's and DaBen's frequency coming from the pages to help you get in contact with your guides! I love the easy processes that are there to help you get started and I love how some parts are Sanaya and Duane talking about there experiences and all. It's so great!
2 minor notes: I missed the proces how to get in touch after you made the first contact with your guide, so I tweaked the proces myself and I felt like it talked a lot about how to channel for other people, while my goal is just to get in contact with my guides to help me with my life so I can help more people with the things I do great already.
One of the best books I've read in a while!!

An interesting read. Filled with helpful information and exercises. Excellent tips to consider prior to starting on this journey, as in doing your own personal work first. Guides will point you in the right direction, bring information in the form of books and people, but you have to be prepared to take action and do the work yourself. They will never do the work for you and they will not get in the way of the lessons you are meant to learn. So yes sometimes that means that events will not unfold as you hoped, but they will unfold as they are meant to for your highest learning.

The final section of the book gives a brief history of the Spiritualist movement and changes. It also talks about how the term, medium, has now changed to channeling. Some interesting points to consider.

    Wonderful, clear, direct, and sublime!

One of the best books on opening to channel, I’ve read it a number of times now and each time it truly helps me connect to extra-dimensional intelligence in more profound ways. The messages are clear, timely, and carry the energy of higher consciousness, with plenty of suggestions for how to begin this most exciting journey of connecting to higher intelligence, be it our own higher mind, soul, over-soul, other aspects, etc. Both a how-to manual and a treatise of consciousness, this is one to keep on your bookshelf for years to come - I have bought extra copes to share with friends!

Though I am not particularly interested in channeling I do like these types of books. I thought I would give this book a try since it came up in my pile. I think for the most part I kind of slogged through it though some parts were interesting. For me, the non interesting parts added up to more than the interesting.
I think there are better books to read on this subject that would seem less boring even though I'm sure there are many who would be totally interested in this book. I'm sure it would be more interesting for someone who is actually interested in channeling.

  • Florencia

Definitely the book I was looking for. If you've heard of channel and want to understand what it is and what it can do for you, this is the book for you. It's not just a how to book, it goes even a step further by solving all of your possible doubts before you even start channeling (if you decide that channeling is for you of course).
I felt elevated the whole time while reading this book, this is the real deal folks. 100% recomended.

  • Jo Worsfold

This is a must-read for lightworkers, healers, intuitives and anyone else who is curious about or eager to explore channelling. The guidance throughout the book resonated. Although I haven't yet worked through the exercises to open myself up further to channelling my guides, I am already feeling a shift in my energy and consciousness simply from reading the book from cover to cover. Highly recommend!

  • Ursula Sportelli

I thought it was too short but to the point. I would have liked more...
On my part, I didn't know anything about channeling but I've been working on myself for quite a time now so it was easy to make the connection I didn't need to go through all the advice to start with channeling although I will take the advice on how to continue. Some insightful words of wisdom spoken from Oren & Daben made a lot of sense.

  • Kimberly Simon

Great book to take away the fear of speaking with your higher guides. Whether you all ready channel by way of book suggestions, through creation of the arts, reading tarot, or by asking advice for self or others or you know nothing about it, this book can be eye opening. For the open minded and unfearful, it can become another tool in raising your consciousness.
