For the Groom Reviews

Most of the advice books I read are either vintage or feminist/queer, so they're often clearly from a different era, or stay far away from gendered statements. So, I was a little hesitant to commit to this book when the first few pages talk about how women are special and need flowers and chores done for them. BUT I really did appreciate how the author repeatedly made the poin that these gentlemanly actions are applicable to interactions with anyone, not just women you're trying to impress. He also made a very clear distinction between doing these things because women are helpless and fragile vs. doing them because everyone likes to be treated with respect, courtesy and sensitivity.

Once again, great advice for a young man who may need a little "polishing" as he moves from young bachelor to married gentleman. The last half focused quite a bit on entertaining, particularly ordering liquor and mixing drinks, that wasn't too applicable for me but I like his attitude that women are special and should be treated special, all their married lives long. He has a great philosophy and practical tips for making it all happen.
