The Nature of Alaska: An Introduction to Familiar Plants, Animals Outstanding Natural Attractions Reviews
-
Great preview of wild flora and fauna in the state of Alaska. I received it as part of a bundle for a course I’m taking, and it’s definitely informative. Pictures are well done, information well organized. Detailed about where animals and plants may be located, if something may be harmful or poisonous, migratory or confused with something else.
Only complaint- not enough plants and birds included. One simple excursion and it shows that this is only a very basic starter on Alaska wildlife. Enough to get started. -
As stated, this is an introduction to the nature found in Alaska. Not meant to be a complete overview by any means, and because the author knew this he included overviews of the most seen birds, plants, animals, and so forth, and does so extremely well in limited space. I rated five stars because I loved discovering further information; I'm a bird and beach guy, so those sections on birds, marine biology and ecology, were great for my purposes. If I want more, I'll go find specific texts on them.
