It was pitch black in the tunnels. Aila’s eyes were finally starting to adjust to the lighting, her eyes flitting over the black and dark blue shapes of the walls and hanging moss.
Aila could hear the dripping of water somewhere along the corridor, tapping furiously along with the beat of her heart.
She was slumped against one of the walls, the frigid stone biting at her bare arms and legs. She thought how surprising that was given the extreme heat above ground that weekend. These tunnels were a whole other world.
She heard commotion above her and lifted her eyes to the ceiling of the tunnel as she recognised the voices.
“She was hurt,” Meredith said, only feet above where Aila sat against the damp tunnel wall.
Aila opened her mouth to call out to her friend, to tell her she was alive.
As she did, the darkness moved, the figure of a man looming over her.
He placed a mud covered hand over her mouth, reminding her to stay silent.

Truth (The Three Lives of Aila Doulas #3) Reviews

Not as many grammatical errors as there were in Book 2, but still the use of "was sat" in this one along with some other grammatical errors. I didn't like the ending as I felt it left too many things unknown. It was alluded to be Fenella but that suspicion was never really clarified with any evidence. I felt with 3 books, so much more could have been done with the story. I don't agree with the "A Gripping Thriller that will keep you guessing until the last page" description on all three books. I really had higher hopes for the story.

The detective in charge of the case in none other than Will, Aila's lost love. No wonder he is hell bent in discovering who imprisoned her in the tunnels two decades ago.
Until he can apprehend the culprit, Aila is still in danger but Aila can't remember who did this to her and, according to her doctors, may never recover those memories due to the injuries she received whilst captive.
So........ just who did capture and imprison Aila? The evidence all points to one person, but is it the right person?
    Happy reading. Annemarie

I received an Advance Reader Copy of The Three Lives of Aila Douglas Book 3: Truth from the author and have chosen to leave a review.

The overly generous and “loving” Fenella comes under suspicion by both Aila’s friends and the inspector on the case after Aila is found and is recovering in the hospital. Aila wants very much to thank her friends for being so steadfast and not giving up, so she invites them to dinner. (Hold your breath, readers!)

So we uncover more about Aila and her life at the castle. Great photos and snippets of info interweave throughout and I love the side romance going on; I won't say who with as I do not want to spoil the story, but I await part 4 eagerly.

Story was ok but ending left a lot unexplained, felt let down with this book as I had enjoyed the first two.
