Erik Odegaard is beautiful, successful, and runs with an A-list Hollywood crowd. He’s the aggressive bedmate of twenty-eight-year-old Mason’s dreams. Their whirlwind romance turned into a picture perfect wedding in Maui and a new home for the two of them on the beach in Malibu. Sometimes it feels like everything Mason ever wanted, though Erik’s intense and private personality has drawbacks outside of the bedroom.

Then Erik’s twin brother Lucas shows up at their doorstep needing a place to crash while he rebuilds his life after serving time. Erik calls his brother a walking train wreck, but he’s actually everything Mason hasn’t been getting from Erik. Lucas is kind and adorably playful, and he doesn’t take himself so seriously. There’s an undeniable physical attraction, and when Erik starts giving signals he wouldn’t mind if Mason and Lucas explored that, Mason has got a lot to reevaluate about the kind of life he imagined for himself. But a slow drip of secrets from the past sheds a new light on the Odegaard brothers and their true intentions.

This was truly a thrilling read. Without spoiling too much, it's not what I excpected going in. The story is spicy and well-paced, and at times simply devastating. It's obvious from the start that we are stepping into darkness, but not just how dark it gets. It's sexy, emotional, painful and, in retrospect, it plays out the only way it could have played out.

I'm not sure how to categorize this. I wouldn't exactly call this a romance novel, more of a thriller or love story. One of my issues was that I felt like this ended a little abruptly and I usually look for a more developed and emotionally satisfying ending(not necessarily a HEA) but I'm not sure I got this at the end. Still, it was a well-written story with compelling characters, and an riveting read. I would recommend this if you're looking for a good romantic thriller or a dark love story.

Oh boy... this was a bizarre story.

First, let me just say that I agree with other reviews in saying that this isn’t a romance and it does NOT end well. There is no HEA.

I will say that it had me hooked. I wanted to keep reading to find out what the hell was even going on. We have Mason, who is telling the story, and the twin brothers Erik and Lucas. Mason is married to Erik and had only been for about a month or so and previously they dated for just a year before getting married. Then Lucas shows up and things are just weird AF between them all.

Honestly, it was SO hot when Lucas joined Mason and Erik in their bed. That first time with the three of them? Oh yes. 🥵 I knew that the brothers wouldn’t be gettin’ down and dirty with each other because the author had said so when asked, but I still held out some hope. Especially when reading this:

Mason to Erik: “Do you want to have sex with Lucas alone?” ... “And it would be okay if the two of you…did it sometimes while I was there.”
    Erik to Mason: “Not happening.”

Well shit. My twincest dreams just died right then and there.

I suppose with brothers…well, I’ll just have to keep it in my fantasies. ... Like Liam and Chris Hemsworth? Don’t tell me you’d pass up watching that.

    Too fucking right.

They discussed it and became a throuple until it all unraveled and Lucas revealed certain “truths” to Mason during a time spent alone together without Erik. Then Mason decides to get a divorce from Erik without speaking to him about it. He believes Lucas, doesn’t even ask Erik his side because “he trusts Lucas” and runs away back to his hometown. Okay... this right here is where I started getting pissed the fuck off and started really disliking Mason. He kept touting about communication to Erik in the beginning of the book but he acts like a child and runs away without getting Erik, his husband’s, side of the story. Ugh 🤦🏼‍♀️

By the end I just hated all 3 of these characters. I don’t want to spoil it but geezus. It was just a whole disaster of a thing. Erik was manipulative, a liar, basically used Mason so I didn’t feel bad about Mason divorcing him in the end whatsoever... but then I also really hated Lucas for what he did behind Mason’s back. Even though I hated Mason at this point anyway.

Omggggg it’s just a whole drawn out drama-filled situation. No romance. I wish it WAS a romance. A throuple with an HEA and some twincest action? I would’ve had no complaints about that whatsoever.

I do have to say that the storyline did have me intrigued and I didn’t once feel bored. So this story has that going for it.

I’d say this was a 3.25⭐️ for me just because the end wasn’t to my tastes. Other readers may enjoy this more than me, especially if they go in knowing that there’s no HEA for these characters in the end.

I received a copy of this from GRR.

This was a scorching hot thriller, awesomely written, with a clever intriguing plot.

Erik is a rough power top constantly pushing Mason’s limits. They are newly wedded.
One night his twin brother Lucas stands at their doorstep.
It seems he did time and has no place to go.
Lucas is the opposite of Erik, he’s kind and soft, Erik is demanding and rough.

After some time it seems Erik wants Lucas to join in. Mason loves their hot threesome.
He has a soft spot for Lucas.

Then, the story gets many unexpected turns, there are secrets and nothing seems to be what it looks like. It’s hard to know what’s really going on. Peeks of the past show how crazy things are. Mason as a writer and reporter dives into it to get to know the truth.

“He doesn’t see people as people. They’re just like pieces in a game board to move around.”

An intriguing narrative with demented minds, scorching hot scenes, very appealing.
Everything was right about it, or maybe wrong ha!
The sexuality was strong present and scorching.
Every different part of the story fitted perfectly into place.
It had me on the edge of my chair.
All the five stars!! Bow to this skillful author!

Well, this was a pleasant surprise! I've never read anything by Romeo Preminger before, but I'm sure I will be checking out their other books as well, because I loved this book more than I thought I would and though it was all about the story, it was also because I clicked with this author's writing.

When looking at the title and the blurb, I didn't really know what to expect. Maybe something taboo? A love story where these twins are involved? In the end I still don't really know how to label this story. It's a romance, but it's also not. It's taboo, but that's not what this story is about. It's certainly a story about love, I think. It's dark, though, and toxic and there's a lot of psychological manipulation involved. It has a bit of suspense/thriller vibes too.

The story is told from one single pov, Mason's, who married Erik Odegaard after meeting him via a dating app. Their sex life is spicy and hot, but after having been married for 4 weeks, Mason discovers things about Erik he didn't know. In fact, there's a lot about Erik he didn't know. Then Erik's identical twin brother Lucas shows up and that's when things start to get complicated.

I didn't always understand Mason's choices, but when one is being manipulated, who knows what you might do? But with all the twists and turns, this is certainly a story to keep you involved and on edge, because you just want to know what's going on with these twins and their troubled past. And where Mason fits into their current lives.

I loved the pacing of the story, I loved how everything unfolded and how I, as a reader, got just enough information throughout the story to make me wonder and to keep me engaged. The ending was kind of surprising, a bit abrupt maybe?

If you're into dark stories with a bit of suspense, taboo and toxic vibes, I'm pretty sure you're going to enjoy this as much as I did.

This really wasn’t good IMHO (I know others may disagree and I don’t usually comment if I’m feeling like this because it’s someone hard work, but felt I had to justify the 2 stars). I thought it had a weak and predictable storyline, was unsophisticated in its writing generally and some of the phrasing in the s*x scenes, just no🤢.

    DNF NO RATING- SAMPLE ONLY

This looked interesting but I’m at total odds with the writing style. I don’t know much about this author but the setup is nearly all TELLING and the narrator, Mason, isn’t someone I’m
    cheering for.

Good writing, but not my cup of tea

Hmmm!🤔 this book was not what I was expecting, I think I was expecting a three way with a bit of taboo thrown in. I got this in a sense but not how I was imagining it to occur and so much more!. I would definitely not class this as a romance because to be honest there's very little of it and what their was of it was a twisted love. This is a thriller, and delves into obsession and the darker recesses of the mind and what they can be capable of. It was well written, and for people who like their thrillers it's perfect, and though I like the darker things I do tend to like that touch of romance as well so I wouldn't say I would re read again. The characters were good and gave off that twisted nature but just not my cup of tea, but I think it was a good plot which the author pulled off brilliantly, with a few twists and turns with that undercurrent of malevolence hence giving it a 3 star.
I received this book by the author and this is my honest opinion.

This one surprised me. Started out thinking it would be some type of delicious taboo, but it ended up being quite a bit different than that, but in a way that had me turning pages. It starts out a bit slow as we learn the dynamics (or so we think) of Erik and Mason’s relationship.

I admit that I was a bit put off by the writing at first with some of the terms/word usage, but once the story took hold, my attention was drawn away from that and engaged into what was actually happening.

Erik is pretty awful. He’s a high powered attorney, controlling and not very caring. He and Mason are newly married, but it doesn’t take long before Erik shows the signs of throwing their salary disparities in Mason’s face, and their sex is on the rough side (although Mason appears to enjoy this). This, however, is when Erik begins to plant the seed of Lucas into their lives.

Lucas is Erik’s twin and is seemingly the complete opposite of Erik. Although he is newly released from prison for allegedly killing his boyfriend, he is sweet and funny painting the picture of a guy down on his luck just needing a fresh start. He is everything Erik isn’t, and Mason takes notice.

I won’t say more so as not to give too much away, but suffice to say, there are a number of twists and turns that take place. There is a lot more to the twins’ story, and nothing is as it seems. While this started out slow for me, I was invested about halfway through and sped to the end. This is more of a romantic thriller. While there isn’t really a HEA, it does have a somewhat satisfactory ending given all of the circumstances. If you’re looking for something a bit different, give this one a try.

Wow! The author describes this series as erotica thrillers and that’s certainly the truth. This story is spicy hot, dark and gritty, full of taboo and had me on the edge of my seat. I had a pretty good idea of where everything was going, but the writing was great and definitely had me feeling all of the emotions, namely stress and anxiety! If you’re looking for a very messy and very passionate romance, then this might be the story for you. The ending is very satisfying as it fits the story, but it’s certainly not an HEA romance.

Note that much of the book is not about the romance between the MC and his partner, but about how their relationship got to where it is and all the lies that start to unravel. I love dark romances, so this was right up my alley. And I thought the pacing was fantastic. The book starts off hot and sweaty and hits the ground running from there. I’ll definitely check out more by this author!

  • CAROLINA

This story really wasn't for me.
I do enjoy thrillers and don't mind a book ending without a HEA, but in this case, I didn't like the overall story and how things played out. It was very predictable and none of the MCs were engaging. I kept reading expecting to see a twist I hadn't predicted before, but it never came.

  • Hannah Smith

I was very close to a DNF on this one but strangely wanted to find out what happens.

Erik is a hideous character that you know has something wrong from the beginning. Mason is unbelievably naive or stupid I can’t figure out which. Then there’s Lucas the sap of a twin.

I just really didn’t get this story at all, it could have been amazing, the sex scenes are hot but can’t carry a whole book. Really disappointing.

  • Liz

The creative plot had me interested from the start. Mason and Erik have been married for about a month or so and are hot and heavy in the bedroom. Erik's identical twin brother, Lucas shows up after being released. Mason starts to see the relationship between Erik and Lucas. Erik is a very domineering, cold person whereas Lucas is a fun, playful person. Mason starts to emotionally connect with Lucas..

At some point, Erik starts to hint at bringing Lucas into the bedroom. As the three start to become a throuple, Mason starts to question his emotions. I started to root for their relationship, but started to have mixed feelings as well as Mason. As things progress, Mason learns of some dark secrets and questions how much he really knows about his husband. The ending was shocking and not an HEA as I thought and hoping it was.

There were parts of the story that were rushed and missing. I wished the small details were included as it felt like a hole in parts. Especially if it was something I'm aware needs to be in there. I did enjoy the story as a whole and would read stuff from this author again.

Caution warning as there is violence, dom/sub relationship, a poly relationship, and guns.

I have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, it’s a psychological mystery with many twists and turns. Not only did I not know the answer to the mystery until the last few pages but I actually second guessed myself and flipflopped on who was good vs. evil. The book is also one of a taboo nature. This doesn’t bother me but I will put that out there for anyone who has triggers. I have to say though. I was bummed that Lucas and Mason didn’t end up together. I can empathize with both for everything they endured but I wish their relationship would have been enough to withstand the pitfalls. I did not like the ending. It felt rushed and like an add-on that was thrown on to give the book quick closure. I think if the author had taken a chapter or two to describe Mason’s new relationship that it might have worked better for me.

  • Grace

    An unexpected ride.

Pros- this story kept me on the edge, not sure which twist would happen next. The heat was off the charts, for real. I really liked the premise of this story and wanted to be engaged and root for the characters.

Cons-This is in no way a romance. I’m not even sure I’d consider it romantic. The writing had a choppy sync to it that occasionally pulled me out of the story completely. I really didn’t like any of the three MCs, even though I really wanted to with at least two of them.

I’m really torn with this one. 3 stars is actually higher than I want to give but I think if I had known going into it there would be no HEA and it wasn’t even close to a romance, I might have liked it more. The plot is good and it definitely kept me guessing through most of the story.

  • Reed

After reading the blurb I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read another twins mystery but this just drew me in. I’m glad GRR gave me a copy so I could decide it I liked this author. I do. There are a number of twists and turns that kept my attention. I started by wondering how Mason could have married Erik much less stay with him. Actually through the whole story I had to wonder at Mason’s reasoning. Then the story gets intense and I found myself waiting on Erik to actually be the loving husband. Even though twin mysteries/romances seem to follow a certain path I found I still hated to set this aside. I give the author credit, there is a lot of parts I didn’t see happening including the ending. I will read more by this author.

  • Deanna

OK, so not exactly what I was expecting, but I continued anyway. My curious, nosey nature wanted to see how it all played out. Let's just say that Mason has found himself in quite a toxic mess. Erik has been described as "intense" within his marriage with Mason, but believe me, you don't want his kind of "intense." Then we add Lucas, Erik's twin that Mason never knew about, and things spiral out of control from his arrival. This book falls more in the thriller category than a love/romance category. So, if you're looking for something that may end sweetly, this would not be for you. If you're into thriller books, you should give this a shot. My final thought is that the ending could do with a little work.

    Decisions

Wow, there’s a lot to unpack after reading this unexpectedly compelling book. Nothing is what it seems, everything is suspect and the characters, honestly, I’m not sure if I liked any of them by the end but I couldn’t put the book down. With every secret that’s revealed we learn more about Mason, Erik and Lucas and it was their reactions, or perhaps lack of, that kept me enthralled. I had to keep turning the page to see what would they do next or better yet, what would they not do? Not quite a romance, more of a dark thriller with a lot of heat, but it’s definitely an unpredictable, delectably twisted page-turner.

  • Rose Penny

I read the blurb to mean that these three men would have a relationship between the three of them. A romantic relationship. With a HEA. That is not what happens. Yes there are scenes of throuple-ness. That’s the extent of the romantic relationship. I suppose you could say there’s a sort of HEA for Mason, who’s POV this book is told from. But for the other two? Nope.

The book was well written, it was easy to get absorbed into, it definitely had a bit of suspense to it. I wanted to keep reading simply to see if my predictions were correct (they were). But I did not like the characters at the end of the book. I was totally fine leaving this book behind when I finished it.

  • Juniper

I think the word I’d use to describe this book is intoxicating. It’s easy to get caught up in and carried away by, and after a certain point, you’re not sure if nothing makes sense, or everything does. While the characters aren’t always sympathetic, they’re always riveting to watch, and every new twist and turn in the story just makes it harder to look away. This book is deeply atmospheric, morally ambiguous, steamy, mysterious and dark in any number of ways: a thriller or a story about a kind of love based at least partially on illusions with really sharp edges (and no HEA) rather than a conventional love story.

Wow! I’m still reeling from what I just read. Talk about a dark suspense thriller. The plot was interesting and well developed. The characters were also well developed. An author is really good when the have the reader flipping back and forth trying to determine good verses evil. So many twist and turns kept me hooked from beginning to the end. Twist and turns I never saw coming! I couldn’t put this book down. Steamy hot with explosive chemistry. It doesn’t end with your standard HEA though I still consider it ending on a happy note so to speak. I can’t wait to go back and read the other books in this series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.

More of a thriller than a romance, but.... Wow! Talk about toxic relationships! This book was intense! There was so much going on it was hard to figure out who was telling the truth. Idk if I would call this a romance, but there were definitely some hot and heavy intimate scenes. The book kept my attention and the author slowly leaked more and more info drawing me into a thrilling story that ended with a bang. This is my third book by this author and I have to say his writing keeps getting better.
I received a free copy of this book. This is an honest review.

Not gonna lie, I was interested in this book for the twin factor. I enjoy twin taboo. I was not sure if this book was like that by the description but I’d thought I’d give it a try. It definitely reminded me of the Melendez twins story from the 90s. They were even mentioned in the book. It even had a soap opera vibe. I was interested in the story to find out what happened in the past and which way the story was going to end. I would read more books from this new to me author. I received an advanced readers copy from Gay Romance Reviews for an honest review.

  • Bookaddict100

    This is a dark romance.
Mason is newly married after an intense romance with Erik. They are adjusting to living together/ married life when Erik’s twin brother Lucas arrives on their doorstep. Lucas is the total opposite of Erik and Mason falls for him easily. The 3 of them soon become a throuple but, Mason realizes that things are not as perfect as he first believed and Erik has been manipulating everything for a while.

I received an ARC for this book from HiddenGems and this is my review.

  • stardragon

This story was extraordinarily fun to read. It is about Erik and Lucas a set of twins that have encountered several tragedies during their lives. Their father was murdered, Lucas’s boyfriend fell from a balcony and he was convicted of manslaughter. Erik got married and his husband left and filed for divorce weeks after the wedding. The twins stayed close through it all, Erik being the stronger and Lucas doing what he was told…..or was there something more sinister going on……you need to read the book to find out! I couldn’t put it down.

  • Aimee

Wow!! Definitely kept my interest!! I loved that the reader only got Mason’s POV and yet we kinda knew where the story was going all along....BUT...the extra twist at the end was a bit surprising!! I thought at first it was the other twin who was the true evil one and he was leading Mason wrong and that the twist would be the killer was....UGH!!! I can’t say what I want to say without spoilers....so I’ll just say I loved this story and you should definitely go read it!!
