Some Interesting Puzzles, But...
This book has three increasingly difficult levels of mazes, or at least it should. Personally, I thought some mazes in the first two levels should have been switched to the other. The book has a variety of mazes types, from the standard round or square/rectangular ones to ones that take place inside an object or the body of an animal to spaghetti-style ones. I found the spider's web and corn on the cob to be two more interesting ones, as the opening spaces were made within the circles of the web or between rows or kernels of corn, respectively. Some third level mazes were quite complex, like the many twists on two sides of a juice box, making the puzzle appear three dimensional. Given the age range, I think this book should have had more complex puzzles. Some easier ones will be gotten through in just seconds by a true child maze aficionado. The book does include solutions at the end, so if any puzzle is too tricky or if the child just wants to see how to make it work (like with the spaghetti-style mazes… I often find those confusing), answers can be found quickly.

I received a PDF.file of this book from the book’s publisher, and the following is my honest opinion.
It goes without saying that it is very easy to get from here to there if it is in a straight line. But, when getting there means having to make turns to the left or the right, it can get very hard. When you have this on a sheet of paper, it gets called a maze, which, as a young child, was something my mother gave me to do to keep me busy.
Viewing the 80+ mazes in this book, my inner-child found them to be a lot of fun. Some of them were easy to do, and others were very hard. For each maze, as an inner-child, I had to think about which way to go so I would not get stuck at a dead-end and would have to go back and go another way. The mazes had my young mind looking at things more closely so I would not make any mistakes. At the back of the book, I found the answers to each maze; but I did not want to look at them since looking at them, I would not be finding the right way through the maze myself.
While the author has created this book for children between the ages of 8 – 12, adults, especially senior citizens, will find the mazes helpful in keeping their minds active. Given the above, my inner-child and I have given Ms. Trace 5 STARS. -
