Diamond in the Rough: RBMC Pittsburgh, PA Book 2 Reviews

Just a warning for those readers with triggers. The beginning is very violent – not graphic but violent. Maybe not start the book before you go to bed – unless your further along in the story.
Brass is one of those men that takes care of the people associated with the club. Jewel made some choices that I had a hard time processing. I watch a lot of the reality crime shows but it was hard to stomach what Jewel went through. It may be a work of fiction but this author knows how to paint a very visual picture.
Not everything is graphic – which I was happy to see. This time I’m talking about the juicer scenes. There are times where scenes are steamy without her telling us everything that was going on. Then there are times where there’s no mistaking what our main characters are doing. We get to see both the gritty and dirty side of the MC.
There’s a great mix to hold your attention once you get past the tough beginning. I like how the men can be honorable and a bad a$$ at the same time – as well as when they mete out justice. But they do a one-eighty when making their women feel cherished.
As you get toward the end, our main characters are having a conversation that has a ring of truth to it. Just one more thing that shows some realism to the story. The author is very nice with her Epilogue. She gives us a hint for the next book in her series.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. -
I liked it but it was hoping for more. Lots of inner dialogue and feeling unworthy of love so the back and forth drama of that was there. The obligatory kidnapping and rescue. Just a good typical MC story.

This is the second book in the series and it can be read as a stand-alone. Brass and Jewel shared one steamy night together after Barney died. Now she is in danger because of Barney and Brass will be there to protect her. Fast-paced MC read with loads of drama, suspense and twists and turns. Great chemistry and loads of steam. I liked it.

OMG...this book was awesome. Once you start reading it you wont be able to stop. It was well put together and had a good flow. This book is emotional, heartbreaking and thrilling.
Brass has always felt guilty for not saving his mother and testifying against his father for murdering her. Jewel is a young woman who has a tragic and dark past also. She finds herself again in a situation with a man that is abusive. So when Brass and Jewel find themselves coming together they are both fighting it, even if they are perfect for each other.
I am looking forward to the next one to see what happens next. -
Michael 'Brass' LaRue grew up in various foster homes after his controlling father killed his mother. Once a boy scout, now he's the enforcer for the RBMC Pittsburgh, PA MC and sticks to a strict regimen to control his life.
Jewel O'Malley is a tough bartender living with one of the MC's members until he killed himself. Brass helps her through the funeral but after a brief hook up they choose to stay away from each other. Three years later her ex's past rises up putting Jewel's life in danger. With her life at risk, Brass is no longer willing to stay in the background, he will do whatever must be done to protect her.
Brass grew up with a loving mother and an abusive father, Jewel lived with a man who beat her.
These two are tough, strong characters with baggage. Unfortunately Brass may lose her if he doesn't get his head on straight. His devotion and care is sworn worthy but his willingness to sacrifice everything may cost them both their happiness.
Violence, kidnapping, recovery and vengeance to go with the hot and steamy. However not everything is wrapped up in the end, leaving some dangling threads to continue into the next book in the series.
This story includes violent and abusive scenes that may be difficult for some readers, read at your own discretion.

On a personal note: There is a scene where Jewel is in extreme pain and on pain meds and claims she is 'high off my ass.' I cannot tell you how much this bothered me. As a person who has been living with extreme pain for over twelve years and a member of several groups regarding pain management, I can assure you that it's almost unheard of for anyone in extreme pain to feel 'high' after taking appropriate pain medication. A person in extreme pain does not feel 'euphoria' or 'high' after taking pain medication, they feel varying levels of pain relief. They may feel woozy, out of it, tired, etc. but 'high' is not what they are feeling. I'm discouraged to see this in any writing. -
Brass may have once been a scrawny nerd, but now he’s the enforcer for the RBMC, Pittsburgh, PA and he looks nothing like he did as a kid. He has a tragic past and a darkness to him that makes him who he is as a man in his thirty’s. He’s lethal, powerful, and loyal to his club. He does have one weakness though and unfortunately; he has no idea how to go about showing her that he’s interested.
Jewel just wants to get away from her man. She’s done being his target, but she doesn’t really want to leave the RBMC. They’ve been more of a family to her than she’s had in years. Her life is about to take a huge turn and with it she’ll be able to stay with the RBMC, but at what cost? Her life with Barney hasn’t been roses and his shadiness could haunt her forever.
I really liked this story. Brass is a man that is sexy, strong, messed up, and dangerous in more ways than being the enforcer. His past haunts him and he just wants to overcome that and be able to have the life he really wants with Jewel, but he’s afraid to take what he wants and let the RBMC help him. He feels responsible for so much, but the brothers need to make him understand that he is loved and respected and that they have his back in all things. I give this story a 5-star review and look forward to more of the Pittsburgh, PA RBMC chapter. -
This is my first read by Deja and I will definitely be reading more of her works. This was a fast paced romance in the Royal Bastards MC world but it was so much more as well. Deja has written a story that has action and suspense along with having a ton of heartfelt moments. Brass and Jewel are two individuals that are different but cut from the same cloth - both have heartbreaking back stories yet they’re stronger, braver and loving. I love how Jewel is so strong and I caught myself laughing at her comebacks to the guys. Brass is her perfect match being the tough club enforcer with a heart of platinum. These two together - their chemistry is insane and the steam between them is . There are a couple triggers with a suicide and mention of domestic abuse - so if you are sensitive please tread lightly. If you are looking for an action packed, steamy, feel good romance - definitely snatch this one up.

Outstanding MC Storyline. I love MC reads that are action packed yet have alpha bikers who have a softer side for their women. Men who are loyal to the core and know what true brotherhood is all about. We have this with the Royal Bastards series but it was very true in Diamond in the Rough. The author gave us amazing characters that live through some trough and troubled times. Characters that as a reader I couldn’t help but root for (even when I wanted to yell - Don’t Do It).
The story is one of two people who have taught themselves how to survive in a world where they blame themselves for others' actions. Two people who find each other at the worst of times. But can they truly help one another or are they simply a scratch to be used to help each other with that annoying itch.
Amazing read in a great series. This is book 2 of the RBMC, Pittsburgh, PA chapter. If you haven’t read book 1, Lean In, I highly recommend grabbing up both books. You won’t be sorry you did.
2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars -
Read the trigger warnings.
I thankfully don't have any but I wanted to make sure that if you do you should check these first.
Not all of the book is very graphic but did find the authors way with words paints a very clear picture and there are some violent points to the story.
Brass is the enforcer of the MC and has had a rough childhood but obviously a big heart. Especially when it comes to Jewel the club bartender and previous old lady to another member.
There story certainly isn't a quick insta love and there's definitely some hard bumps in both their individual histories and there relationship so I found I was grabbed by it.
The writing certainly kept me interested throughout and I was just waiting for them to get their happy ending. I'm not sure their story is completely finished, though definitely the book ends nicely, so I look forward to seeing them in other books of series.
Other MC Romance readers should definitely pick up this book there are others in the series but it can be read as a standalone. -
This book is part of the Royal Bastards MC collection. This is the second book with this chapter. Brass is the enforcer for the chapter. This book starts when Brass checking on a brother, Barney and his ol’ lady, Jewel. Only to find something that triggers him. First, he finds that Jewel has been hit. Then he finds Barney has died. Brass has had a thing for Jewel for awhile. Now he is unsure what to do. Time passes but Jewel is never far from Brass’ mind. Then a group takes her thinking she will pick up where Barney left off. Jewel is rescued but things are done yet. She must make several choices. Does she tell the club why she was taken and risk their wrath? Does she finally tell Brass how she feels about him and hope he feels the same? The club is all she has she doesn’t want to have to leave them behind. This book was a great read. Brass is going through some things and what happened to Jewel brings things from the past right back for him. I felt for both Jewel and Brass. I can’t wait to read more about this chapter in the future. I am loving these characters. Great job Deja.

The RBMC Pittsburgh is an interesting group of bikers. Let's meet Brass and Jewel. Brass has a past that he feels that he can't shake. He does not talk about his past to anyone. He likes to control everything in his life. He is very strict with himself. Then there is Jewel who was with a Barney and he left her to deal with his skeletons he left in his closet. She had one night with Brass but she never forget and neither did he. Brass has always wanted her but never made a move because one she was with Barney til he died and two... well that was up in the air. So remember how the first book ended, well we find out what and who it belongs to. Brass is not happy and his protective instinct comes out. He is going to be her knight in shining leather. So be prepared to cringe at moments and pump your fist in the air at other moments. Will Brass finally talk about his past? Can they get a happily ever after? This is a great series to follow. I cannot wait to see what will happen next.

Intense and emotional for the most part of this story, Jewel is amazing and so strong, what a survivor. There is seriously graphic violence for the first part of this book but no rape. Brass is all kinds of twisted up inside from his early life and memories of his mum, he keeps it all locked up tight which doesn't help. Of the two characters he comes across as the vulnerable one despite what she goes through I found it interesting and definitely a page turner, I would have preferred less real life interuptions so i could really allow myself to get taken away in my reading and actually get full benefit from it. Started 13/4/21 Finished 15/4/21

Jewel and Brass are two broken souls. Brass losing his mom because of his dad when he was 9 years old. Jewel's old man was from the MC and abusive to her and had secrets he was hiding. But he took the easy way out. After what happens to Jewel Brass stays by her side and takes care of her. He will not lose her like he lost his mom. This is a heartbreaking story. There's heat, danger, twisted evil and yes HEA. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Jewel and Brass are both damaged people who carry a lot of baggage. When both their lives come together from a terrible situation, they bond. But what happens when her ex’s and hers past comes back to literally maim her? Will Brass and the MC be able to save her?
I thought this was a well rounded written book. You could feel their pain and you felt sorry for them. I’m sure it’ll be in the next book but I really wanted to know what happens at the end of the week?!?!?!?

Out of darkness comes light.
Brass's story is both heartbreaking and heart warming. Jewel's the same. Both of them longing for each other but life had a different path for each. Jewel determine to get Brass to open up to her completely, Brass trying and determine to protect her, his quilt eating at him. Finally he realizes his family, his woman love him and are his true family. Diamond is always rough but shine it up and it's brightness shines bright. This best describes Brass and Jewel. Excellent read -
I love this story! It really is that simple. It touches on every emotion and you feel all of it right down to your bones. It's sinfully wicked and devastatingly beautiful at the same time. These two mesh together so well and there's no mistaking they have a lifetime love.
Brass's story is just heartbreaking and
Jewel's isn't far behind. Because of betrayal by her ex Jewel gets caught up in an awful mess and Brass is there to help her through. -
Lord Have Mercy another Royal Bastards read! I just don't know where to start with this review. I loved this book so much and I loved Brass. He is an amazing character that will have you swooning for him right from the start. Jewel is a perfect mixed of sassy and love all in one. You start to read about them and you can't stop because it is that good.
So go on out and one click this bad boy and enjoy the story you will delve into! -
Diamond in the Rough starts out very graphic. First, it is a flashback of Brass as a child and the death of his mother. From there, it goes to the suicide of a brother and horrific violence against Jewel. But all of this makes Brass and Jewel stronger than most and Jewel sees a side of the MC Enforcer that no one else sees. I loved how tender Brass was with Jewel and like an avenging Angel when the threats continue. Their story is dark and gritty, but they are perfect for each other.

Wow, this book had me hooked from the second that I started reading the first page. It moves along at a comfortable pace making for an easy read. You cannot help but fall in love with these characters and you want to know more about them and see them succeed no matter what happens. The story keeps you reading till the end and then you are wanting more. This is a must read book, there is no doubt about it.
