His brother's death means he's now in charge of a moody seven year old girl. She's lashing out at the world, but I can handle her. I have to. I need the money to finish my college degree.

As long as I can avoid the boss who alternately mocks me and coaxes me to reveal my darkest secrets.

"Shadows shift through the windshield. Something looms ahead of us-large like another mountain to climb. Except it's not a mountain. It's a house. No, more than that. It's a mansion. Don't stop, I think. Don't stop here. There's something forbidden about this place. I'm too practical to believe in ghosts, but this place feels somehow haunted."

    description

I don't know how I will manage to function until
Strict Confidence is released in May, but I know that it will be worth the wait. Skye Warren has crafted a modern gothic romance a la Jane Eyre that is suspenseful in its plot and breathtaking in its atmosphere. Jane, Beau, and his niece are all characters that are wrestling with personal grief, and watching them go from angry, distant roommates to some semblance of a family over the course of the book touched me deep to my soul. Please note that there is a terribly gripping cliffhanger, but it just made me all the more excited to dive into the next installment, and luckily we don't have to wait too long for that to happen.

"You know nothing about my family. A few days with a rebellious child doesn't give you a decade's worth of secrets and lies."

The thing I loved the most about Private Property is how twisty the plot is. From the moment Jane arrives on Beau's doorstep in a torrential downpour, we realize that something ominous hangs over the manor she is charged with working at. Jane, being a former foster child feels she can relate to Beau's niece, who has just lost her parents in a tragic accident. Or was it? I guess we'll find out in the books to come. Beau has gone from being a wild bachelor to the sole guardian of his brother's daughter, and he is full of dark secrets and simmering resentment, although not toward his niece. The insertion of distance learning, while not a consequence of Covid in this book, was a nice touch that did not go unnoticed.

These characters all come together over the course of this slim novel, but it did not feel rushed or forced. Perhaps knowing that the story will continue across 3 entries helped me understand the long game, but I'm glad we didn't have to wait until future books are released to experience the absolute fire between Beau and Jane. The chemistry is almost unbearably steamy, as the age gap and forbidden tropes are strong at play here, and I couldn't get enough of this couple. There is a bit of angst in the middle, and the ending? Heaven help us. It's a miracle I didn't die on the spot when the final page was turned. If you're looking for a seriously hot, incredibly suspenseful, and wonderfully atmospheric romance, this is it folks. Now please excuse me while I weep in a corner until the next book is released.

He needed a nanny for his niece, Paige. She accepted the ad for a year long contract. Now Beau Rochester doesn’t know what to do with Jane Mendoza in his home. She is oh so tempting but this is only for one year..surely he can stay professional...right? Can three broken souls find solace in each other? This grabs ahold of you from the very first chapter, bringing alive their story. A beautiful tale of loss, forgiveness and finding life again. If you love a brooding older man and a stronger than she knows nanny, then you must pick this one up. An age gap, strangers to lovers, forced proximity, romantic suspense with funny and steamy moments woven in seamlessly. Get bundled up and ready to fall for Beau Rochester! I am a little peeved however, as I thought this was a stand-alone only to have it end in a major cliffhanger!!!! I need to know what happens!! Told in Dual POV

I think every time I finish one of Skye’s books, I’m always left reeling. It’s this beautiful marriage of intriguing plot, complex characters, and layered emotional depths that leaves me almost breathless.
Private Property features my favourite kind of grouchy Hero. Beau is closed off, doesn’t care, and though he should be a giant walking red flag, of course, he’s irresistible.
Jane is Beau’s opposite in so many ways; a poor orphan who has seen and experienced things no one should ever have to, but she and Beau are alike in the very things that matter most.
This is a story about lonely hearts, confronting fears, and - hopefully - redemption. It’s a heartbreaking reminder of the frailty of life, but there’s beauty to be found there, as with all things.
Watching as Jane, Beau, and Paige slowly surrender to the desires we all harbour - to be loved, to belong - is the kind of poignant journey that makes you want to keep reading long after the final page.
I’m torn between frustration at waiting, and elation at knowing there’s so much more to come.

Private Property is Skye Warren's first book in the Rochester Trilogy and it's absolutely brilliant and unique. What happens when you have a book inspired by Jane Eyre with the words and story-telling of Skye Warren? You get an incredibly sexy and forbidden romance between two characters who are different but compatible in so many ways. I don't think I've read a nanny and billionaire romance before so this was definitely something new for me! What I found most unique about this book was the atmosphere—there is a melancholy and gloomy mood that is constantly being pressed on the reader throughout the story. It was a really interesting feeling and made the story more compelling to me.

"You're too innocent for the things I want to do to you."

The story starts off with Jane Mendoza accepting a year long contract to care for a young girl who is living with her uncle in Maine. Jane's background story brought tears to my eyes because even though she is considered a woman, she is still so young and innocent in many ways. Originally from Texas, Jane is an orphan. Her mother died from an overdose and her father from a heart attack, which left her with no parents and a stable home from an early age. Despite her experiences, especially with the challenges of moving home to home, Jane is still innocent and has a spine of steel.
"You're always sad. And the worst part is, I want to make you happy. I promised myself I'd never go down this road again."

In comparison, Beau Rochester is much older and worldlier than Jane but they're both alike in ways that make them compatible with each other. Beau has many secrets and like Jane, we start to unravel them one by one. Beau comes off as really mean and crude but he loves very deeply. His interactions with Jane were explosive and both can't get enough of each other. In addition to Beau, Jane spends most of her time with Paige Rochester—Beau's niece. Both are grieving in their own ways. Paige for the loss of her parents while Beau his brother and sister-in-law. However, things are not always what they seem. The book ends in a shocking cliffhanger that will have you wanting more.

In the end, I thought this was an excellent introduction to the Rochester trilogy and I absolutely can't wait for Strict Confidence in May. The book starts off slow but it soon picks up once Beau takes the first step towards Jane. Their sexual chemistry is on fire and I loved all of their interactions. Beau still has so many secrets but we do know one thing. There is a sense of perilous danger, one where Paige and maybe even Beau are not safe. The death surrounding Rhys and Emily (Paige's parents) is still unclear. If you love a Jane Eyre inspired book that is both sexy and dark, I highly recommend this book!

All the stars! A worthy retelling of one of the most iconic English literature masterpieces!

OMG! I’m breathless. I’m speechless. I’m blown away! Words… I can’t find them. I can’t express all the emotions and feelings running wild inside me. I just know that I need the second book of the Rochester Trilogy RIGHT NOW! Private Property is the retelling I was dreaming of since I first read Jane Eyre. Only
Skye Warren could craft the best one taking this classic literature to a new whole level! Skye Warren’s prose is a potent mix of passion, dark and wicked angst that makes this book a diamond among jewels.

I couldn’t content my excitement since Skye Warren revealed her new trilogy. I had BIG expectations since
Jayne Eyre was the first classic I read in English language. My young heart was pretty obsessed with dark Mr. Rochester and plain, poor Jayne. This book marked my soul so deep. If I tough this classic book was dark, I was wrong because Skye’s version is intense, raw, passionate and more taboo. She penned what I call a great tribute for one of the most beautiful, unusual books of the epoch in the English literature.

Private Property is a promise of rough emotions mixed with shattering sensuality that will take reader to the most unexpected and amazing journey. Skye’s originality blooms in each page. I was so consumed by the mystery, deeply entangled in this dark story that took over my head and soul. Our Mr. Rochester is a brooding billionaire consumed by secrets and our plain Jayne is an innocent nanny. Both characters’ souls are broken in a way that only the other can fit the empty spaces of their souls. Enter here a permanent and continuous storm, salty air and a gothic contemporary mansion. There is something forbidden and hunted about the storyline that woken up goose bumps on my skin.

Beau Rochester is a cold-blooded businessman. A tortured soul beneath muscle and bone. He is a wolf, a monster, a sharp man who calls his little niece a liability. Beau Rochester is a broken man fighting a battle no one understands. A man consumed in secrets. He is an enigma, a dark playboy and a protector. A man who dwells in pain. This Mr. Rochester brings a ton of temptations.

Jayne Mendoza is a young woman with an entire future ahead of her. Too innocent and naïve. She is torn by a painful past and a bright future. She was hired to be the nanny of a little girl whose she finds herself helping her with all her vulnerability and strength. She is literally in the middle of a storm.

I loved the dynamic between this Mr. Rochester and this Jayne so much. The dialogues between these two are bittersweet and sensual. The chemistry between this torn characters is awesome. Jane Mendoza is a calm ocean and Beau Rochester is a storm that threatens to corrupt her.

My heart was racing out of my chest ... I was aflame from this book that burns in darkness, taboo, sensuality, forbiddances and beauty. A truly beautiful tale of loss, forgiveness and finding life again that Skye Warren beautifully brings to life. I devoured every page as a starved bookworm. I couldn’t put it down. The eye bags under my eyes right now are witness of my obsession because I finished this book last night and now I’m going to sit here, counting the days until the second book is released because that ending almost made me have a heart attack!

This book is a must read for all the dark romance lovers around the world. I’m so glad that Skye Warren’s books introduced me to the dark side of romance. She is my queen of dark, forbidden and taboo romances. Long live the Queen!

    The setting: Maine

The Hero(s): Mr. Beau Rochester - Billionaire that lives in a mansion on a windswept cliff side. His brother and sister-in-law drowned in a boating accident and Beau was left with guardianship of his 6 year old niece.

The heroine(s): Jane Mendoza - new Nanny in the employ of Mr. Rochester. Jane was raised in the foster system in Houston Texas after her Latino father died. Her mother’s parents wouldn’t take her in because they were prejudiced.

The Love Story: I figured I knew where this was going from the start when I noticed that the names were Mr. Rochester and Jane. I was so glad that when Jane found the attic, that there was no mad woman there. Been there done that one…

I liked the fact that Rochester, Jane and Paige are alone in this huge mysterious mansion in Maine. The first weeks Jane is there, it is cold and stormy the whole time. Rochester is dark and broody and doesn’t know how to deal with his niece. Though it doesn’t take long before he makes a move on Jane. He is dominant and super sexy.

There are ways in which this story is similar to Jane Eyre though, not just in the broodiness of Mr. Rochester. He has secrets and one of those secrets is in the attic. The ending also has eerie similarities though unlike Jane Eyre this one is a cliffhanger!

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

As avid readers, I think we’ve all had those moments when we’ve read a masterpiece that has indelibly changed the way we think about literature. For me, one of those stories has always been Jane Eyre, one of the greatest novels ever written. So, when I learned Private Property is a Jane Eyre modern retelling, I was both exhilarated and nervous. Tackling a literary titan such as Jane Eyre is a daunting task, and giving it enough familiarity while also inserting an authentic point of view is a fine balance. But, if there was ever an author whose writing style is perfectly matched for this tall take, it’s Skye Warren- an author who has excelled at atmospheric, romantic and suspenseful story telling. And, I’m so happy to say this story did not disappoint! The dark sensuality, the gothic suspense, the foreboding melancholy, all of the hallmarks of the original story are translated beautifully in this modern version. Skye has taken the spirit of Jane- the tone, the atmosphere, the characters, the commentary- and breathed new life into it. The mystery still looms large, the gothic setting still a character in and of itself, the psychological intensity still towers over any action- though the action is entertaining, too. But Skye has also made it all her own.

Like the iconic governess of the original story, our modern day Jane finds herself in the mysterious and gloomy Rochester household in Maine, sent all the way from Texas to look after Mr. Rochester’s young orphaned niece. Jane is young and doe-eyed as she begins her first adult job- and she’s immediately entranced by the enigmatic but sexy (and much older) Mr. Rochester. Skye’s version of Jane has some welcomed differences from the original Jane- she’s brighter, more open and affectionate, and much bolder and stronger- a smart modern day shift for Jane and also a subtle nod to the more feminist elements of the original. Beau Rochester maintains all of the charms that made him one of our OG book boyfriends- he’s mysterious, contemplative and secretive, hot and cold in places. But also magnetic- we understand Jane’s draw to him, and we see the glimmers of the tender and wounded heart her buries. Skye brings some delicious alpha protectiveness to her version, and makes him a sensual and naughty lover, too. Thank you, modern romance, for letting our book boyfriends get it on. Bronte would smile at how romance has evolved FOR women.

LIke the original, Private Property is deliciously meta- the original a moralistic character study, and Skye's a character coming of age story, with a heroine trying to find her identity. But Skye brings the sensual, erotic, and passionate flair that make her books so consumable and enticing. Like the original, Skye plays with tense, angsty but passionate chemistry between Jane and Mr. Rochester, but, deliciously, Skye dials up the heat. These two are FIRE together- and Skye’s version really elevates the intensity of the connection between them. This is what really makes this story take off- and what gives the original a run for its money. Their chemistry is intriguing, steamy, sensual- and profoundly intimate. That intimacy, in particular, was not as central to the source material, and it gives this version a sexy, sweet, and warm element that nicely juxtaposes with the gothic atmosphere and ominous mystery. Plus, the age gap taboo nods to the illicit nature of the original novel’s coupling, ensuring this version still has that forbidden component.

But the biggest Skye adaptation is certainly the central mystery. And since we have two more books to go in the trilogy (which I didn’t initially know), we’ve only just scratched the surface about what Rochester is hiding and what dark secrets lay buried at the Rochester mansion. We start to see some glimmers of the social and moral commentary that made Bronte’s work so groundbreaking, and I can’t wait to see what lies beneath this mystery and what spin Skye decides to take. We already have so many twists and turns, mysterious characters, and loads of questions- and then Skye ends it with an epic cliffhanger that has left me DESPERATE for book two. I’m madly in love with the characters and thirsty for answers.

Danger, suspense, sensual passion, and a gripping mystery- this is everything I love about Skye Warren, and all the magic that I loved about the original!

Can I give it 10 flipping shiny stars!!! Please???

This was such a phenomenal read!

Jane is hired to be the nanny to the 6 year old niece of Beau Rochester. Wow.

This is the start to a fabulously dirty trilogy!

It’s everything. With intrigue. Heart strings. Heat. Dominance. Possessiveness.

    Woooow!

I’m reeling for how much I loved this.

In classic Skye fashion, I was along for the ride and it was such a well written, beautifully crafted, with awesome characters ride I am sure the book hangover will be fierce!

Best of 2021 shelf for sure!

    Highly recommend

*slow clap* well done Skye! *standing ovation clap*

If you’re reading this and have never dipped into the word wizardry that is Skye Warren, this is the story to dive into the deep end with! #TRUST

I’m not going to give you anything about the story in this review, but I do have to say one thing. I would have died on the hill that Damon Scott could never be surpassed as best hero of all heroes in any Skye world … until today. Beau Rochester is a force to be reckoned with in the world of sexy alpha broody men. *fans self* My adoration did not stop with Beau. OH NO, Jane is a contrast to Beau that had me thrilled and captivated from the moment I began to read.

There is so much to this story/journey dancing just outside of the story right now that I am giddy with anticipation for Strict Confidence. I learned a long time ago to just flow with a Skye story because the minute you try and figure things out … no, you know nothing. LOL The ending to this instalment in the trilogy was agonizing. So much so that I’m pretty sure I slow blinked thru the entirety of its unfolding. It was a spectacular Skye cliffhanger. The woman can turn a story on a dime people and she did not disappoint.

    Hotdang on crack!
This Jane Eyre retelling is killing me!
But İF you haven't read the original Jane Eyre, dont worry!

Skye Warren's Private Property have its own dark soul, gripping story, secrets to unravel, charachters that easily got you from the first page!

This book have that taboo steamy older boss with so much younger nanny and A brilliant six year old.

Beau Rochester is the playboy billionaire aka grumpy uncle. I mean he said,
" she’s what we call a liability. Something I’m required to pay. An expense. A loan. The wrong side of the balance sheet.”about Paige, his six year old niece, at first. He is a huge ahole.

But theeeen... " I think my nanny likes it a little bit rough." 😱İ'm officially dead of lust!
Dont even come near me before the next book is in my Kindle!

And Jane... Ah my sweet, strong Jane. I feel her. A young girl, struggle to survive in the world alone, her feelings for Beau, the secrets he keep. Jane personal angst and charachter development intrigued me.

And the secrets that may threat their life...

„It would break my heart to love him.”

Skye Warren mastered creating a mood to such perfection that reading her book makes me feel like an eyewitness to every single one event that takes place. Private Property took me on a journey to a mysterious mansion and I’m getting goosebumps just from thinking about it. Secrets, suspense, electrifying chemistry - Beau and Jane's story has it all and so much more!

I’m obsessed with broody, unattainable men, and Beau Rochester is exactly like that. This enigmatic man, although completely distant, attracts with his mystery and charisma. This is the kind of hero you want to smack and kiss at the same time. Totally irresistible!

I adore Jane and her big heart. Even though she has experienced grief in her life, she doesn't let it take over her. On the contrary, this woman tries to find the best in others and is caring and loving.

Their forbidden romance is full of everything I like in my romances- there's an age-gap, push and pull, intense passion. Jane and Beau’s relantionship is a slow-burn, but filled with sizzling chemistry and raw need. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in their captivating story! Especially after this mindblowing ending!

  • Kay Daniels (Kay Daniels Romance)

With hints of suspense and mystery, Skye Warren brings us a new romance ripe with tension and juicy, forbidden romance in Private Property.

Beau is charged with raising is six year old niece after a tragic accident to her parents. He is in no way prepared to handle her, especially when he is still grieving the loss of his brother and sister-in-law himself, but even more than that, it's plain to see he's never been around children and doesn't know how to offer her the emotional support she needs, much less offer her comfort. He has spent his life building a company, so people aren't exactly his top priority, but a new live in nanny might change all that.

When Jane arrives as the live in nanny, she is unprepared for so many aspects of the job, but most of all she is most unprepared to feel anything for the grumpy billionaire, Beau. While her unique background gives her insight to handle Paige, it nowhere prepares her for the dark and mysterious man full of secrets.

Private Property ends on a whopper of a cliffhanger with more to look forward to and more secrets to uncover. I can hardly wait.

What an amazing beginning to what is sure to be a FIVE STAR dark and mysterious trilogy! S Warren left me with my heart in my throat and begging for more in the last pages. If you love dark and forbidden romance, then this book is certainly for you.

Jane Mendoza arrives to nanny Mr Rochester's (Beau's) niece. She is thrust into a house full of tension, sadness, and a bit of mystery. What she doesn't expect is for Mr Rochester to steal her breath or her heart.

I loved the way in which Jane is able to break down Beau's walls. They both push the other's boundaries - and not just in the physical sense. Their vulnerability and passion shown with each other was all-consuming! The banter is perfection, the side characters are fabulous, and the underlying mystery to the storyline will keep you glued to the pages. I can't wait for Book 2 in this trilogy. Well done once again S Warren!

  • PP's Bookshelf

Private Property by Skye Warren amazed me, made me fall hopelessly in love and left me begging for more! The emotions cut me. The passion enticed me. The characters mesmerised me.The power packed, high paced and dramatic storyline held me captive till the very last page.

Jane Mendoza has travelled all the way from Houston to Maine for a nanny job under Mr. Rochester. The imposing mansion at the cliff and the stormy weather isn't what she expected. She certainly didn't expect an enigmatic reclusive billionaire like Beau Rochester. Her job is to take care of his niece Paige who has lost her parents. But she cannot ignore this burning attraction between her and Beau.

This story combines so many of my favourite tropes. Forbidden romance. Age gap romance. And Skye Warren nailed it. Like she does all the time. Jane is a perfect contradiction. She has seen lots of darkness, suffering and pain since childhood. But she has become this smart and strong girl on her own. She still has pieces of vulnerability hidden but she can face the darkest demons. On the other hand, Beau is such a mysterious and fascinating man. He has secrets and deceptions but we still don't know whether he is the monster himself or the monster is chasing me. He is so dangerously alpha. With delicious dominance and gorgeous protectiveness covering his broken soul. The true star of this story is the chemistry. Beau and Jane had such an electrifying pull from the first contact. That only intensified as they tackled the challenges with Paige together. A strange camaraderie is formed between them slowly and the sexual tension went higher and higher till it exploded. I was caught in the spell of this twisted and complex story as the mysterious and suspenseful world of Beau Rochester unfolds. That ending left me screaming and crying and cursing.

Private Property by Skye Warren was an absolutely thrilling romance extravaganza. Sensual. Explosive. Mindblowing perfection.

Cleverly plotted, full of mystery and so well-written that it pulls you in from the first page, Private Property is one of the best books I have read this year!

Skye Warren excels at creating characters you really care about from the Kitten to Paige to Jane.

Beau .... finds himself in charge of his niece after the death of his brother and his wife . He’s a ruthless billionaire who hired the nanny to care for Paige. However, he did not expect Paige... she speaks her mind and is not intimidated by his dominant persona... or so it seems.
I love Beau’s personality and his dominance despite his obviously deep rooted issues that dictate his every day relationships. There is something about him that is intriguing .

“He seems taller than men should be, stronger than they usually are. Fiercer in every way.”

I don’t want to say too much but the ending ... I need book two AS SOON AS!

    Bravo Skye Warren

    ⭐️ 5 burning stars ⭐️

Any lover of the classics has quite certainly been in love Mr Darcy once in their life, until Mr Rochester came along. My literary studies brought me to properly meet the former in my early twenties, needless to say when I later met Mr Rochester I was a goner. The same can be said about Jane Eyre, she has always spoken to my independent woman side, she claimed her right to lead a life she chose as if that wasn’t daring enough she also laid claim to a complicated brooding man and conquered her HEA.

When the opportunity came to land my grabby hands on a modern retelling of Jane Eyre I was eagerly down for that.

Ms Warren brings us a tale infused with mystery, passion and a touch of darkness, a compelling writing keeping you on the edge of your seat, you’ll be turning the pages to know what comes next. Only warning? Watch out for that high steep cliff, the fall is hard and you’ll be left coveting for more…

Meet Beau Rochester, reclusive, handsome broody and cold. He is shrouded in mystery, secrets seeps through his skin and he has no intention of letting anyone in into that frozen heart of his.

Jane Mendoza, young, beautiful, hopeful dreamer, she isn’t fazed by her daunting past, she’s determined to succeed and make a life with her very own happy ending.

Jane accepts her job as a nanny to help pay for her college fees, little does she know what is in store for her. From the first meeting with her surly employer she realises this job will be me so much more than just work, her big heart fills immediately to the brim with love for her ward Paige, she soon acknowledges her feelings are running strong, she is adamant to help this little girl to overcome her pain.

As for her attraction to Mr Rochester despite her reason is screaming to run away, she walks right into danger

Doesn’t matter whether I want to belong to Beau Rochester. My heart made the decision a long time ago. My body, too. I wasn’t consulted about the matter.

the tension between Jane and Beau is palpable from the beginning, to see their resolve to stay away from each other crumble is spellbinding, the chemistry is off the charts, the banter between them is hilarious just like the ever present humour throughout the story.

Jane and Beau need to overcome many obstacles, everything works against them, the way ahead is paved with secrets and mysteries, will they be brave enough to fight though the end? Will they trust each other in their quest?

I can’t wait for the next chapter of this captivating trilogy.

Darkness and chaos. Water in my lungs. I breathe the salt and musk of her deep, wanting to remember this for a cold future night.

Oooh, a retelling not of a fairytale but of a classic – Jane Eyre – I like. A dark, broody, gloomy hero – I love. Another dark romance trilogy by Skye Warren – I adore. PRIVATE PROPERTY ticks off so many of my boxes, it’s not even funny.

A year-long nanny contract. An enigmatic, jaded man and the broken seven-year-old niece he unexpectedly became the guardian for. An innocent and sweet young woman, who’s seen the worst in people during her young years in the foster system, who is now in need of money for her college degree. Colliding worlds. Secrets upon secrets, including an eerie one in the attic.

Mystery and suspense surround the elusive Beau Rochester, who remains inscrutable until the very last page, where we’re hit with the mother of all cliffhangers. Ugh!

Mysterious (I know I said that already, but it can’t be stressed enough), gritty and steamy, this age gap, forced proximity romance is a magnificent tale of loss, absolution, and finding zest for life again. A strong kick-off to what I know will be an intense trilogy. May can’t be here soon enough!

Private Property is a sizzling and dark modern day version of Jane Eyre and it is a mesmerizing read. I was drawn in from the first chapter and couldn’t stop reading until that shocking ending. The writing is flawless, the characters bold and the chemistry electric. I need the next book in my life today. You have to read this now!!

Skye Warren always leaves me speechless with her books, I was not expecting to love this one as much as I did. This has to be my favorite book of hers to date, it had me hooked from the very first page and I didn't want it to end.

Beau, wow.... I loved him. He was that hero who is private and doesn't let people in. So when Paige comes into his life, she changes his whole world. Beau needs a nanny for his nieces, he was never expecting Paige to come into his life and turn it upside down. These two are two broke people who weren't expecting to feel what they do for each other. This book was AMAZING!!! Skye is always leaving me on the edge with her books!!! A must read!!

Private Property is the first book in the Rochester Trilogy by Skye Warren.

This book was absolutely amazing and a wonderful start in this trilogy! Since it is a trilogy this book ends with a cliffhanger but I really like it because it keeps you wanting more. And let me tell you, I really need more of Jane and Beau! This book is an age gap / forbidden love story. Actually I am not the biggest fan of age gap romances but I was so captivated by their story. It is mysterious, dark, has the right amount of drama and it’s also steamy.

For me this book is a five star read and May 2021 can’t come soon enough!

Let’s talk about “Private Property by Skye Warren”, first book in the Rochester trilogy.
    🖤
I was so enthusiastic and in a fog when I read the blurb and decided to read this book that I didn’t realize I fall into another trilogy. Like, seriously? Why do I do this to myself? But in the end I couldn’t care less, I devour it and I was left like a crazy person waiting for the next book. There’s nothing to dislike here: age gap, taboo, forbidden with the whole nanny-boos thing, mysterious, steamy, angst and with a good amount of suspense. It screamed “come to mama”!

Trying to ensure her future and allow her to go to college, Jane crossed the country to be the nanny of a little girl, Paige, that was living with her broody uncle, Beau, after both of her parents tragically died. But what she got was so much more than a job, she got mixed in a web of secrets and love, all while she was trying to find her path and where she belonged.

Beau stirred my feelings, especially after his accident, at times I wanted to slap him in the face and soon after kiss him. It seemed he didn’t have a feeling in his bones, not even toward his niece, but as the story progressed you could sense that he was hiding from something and not only his feelings. Sometimes I felt his emotions in the little things, and who would have thought that little ol’ Jane would be the one to change things.

They were so opposite and yet exactly what each other needed, they pushed their boundaries and they finally found the missing piece each one were missing. I was glad that Jane wasn’t a doormat, she pushed back all his craziness and give as good as she get. However she doesn’t know the hornet nest she jumped in, honestly neither do I, but I have SO.MANY. theories, I just need those secrets revealed. That cliffhanger left me scrambling to find my mind.

ARC KINDLY PROVIDED FOR AN HONEST REVIEW

Ok wow! This book was actually super great. Skye Warren is back with a trilogy and how! I love how her books have crazy plots, it shows how hard she works developing them and this book didn't miss the mark at all ❤

Beau is dark and cold, just exactly how I like my male characters to be-, however, his soft side is to die for, the fact that he saves his pure side for Jayne only- makes my heartache.

The whole thing about the property and the book kept the pace going, and omg I am not over the ending at all, what a cliffhanger. This book was incredibly well written, and I can't wait for the next one!

It isn't right for a man so hard to look almost beautiful.

Every single time I tell myself I'm done with trilogies, Skye Warren makes a liar out of me. And you know what? I'm not sorry. Well, actually, I am slightly sorry. Because that cliffhanger was PAINFUL. Like what in the ever loving sanity?! How am I supposed to be patient after that? But I digress.

I am a sucker for dark, broody, and mysterious heroes. And Beau Rochester is all of those things and more. A brooding and reclusive billionaire playboy that I was dying to get more details on but who remained elusive until the very last page.

Jane Mendoza arrives to the gloomy town in Maine for a year long nanny contract. But nothing prepares her for the man of the manor or the broken little girl he has become the guardian for after the tragic death of her parents. Jane is the sweet and innocent to Beau's hard and jaded. A product of the foster system, she's seen the worst of humanity in her young years, but still managed to hold onto this endearing air of innocence. She doesn't hesitate to stand up to Beau and his mercurial mood swings, even if at times she did give in too easily to the sexual chemistry between them.

The story is told in dual POVs with more time spent in Jane's head, though I'm hoping that will change in book two because I'm dying to know more about Beau. There's a dark mystery that slowly unravels about Beau's family history, but just as you think you know, Skye hits you with a cliffhanger to beat all cliffhangers. I'm pretty sure I sat there in a numb stupor for a solid five minutes, attempting to go to the next page, before finally accepting that there WAS NO MORE. GAH. But I digress again.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to stare longingly at Goodreads, hoping that the second book will magically appear with a release date immediately. *deep sigh*

  • Sissy's Romance Book Review

Private Property by Skye Warren is the First book in the Rochester Trilogy. This starts the story of Beau Rochester and Jane Mendoza. Jane is looking for something to help pay for college which is how she landed this Nanny Role. Jane is to be a nanny to Paige a young girl being raised by her Uncle Beau. Jane has signed to be the Nanny for 1 year which doesn't seem to long until she arrives and find that Beau is a distant, dark sole along with Paige being a little girl lost. This like all of Ms. Warrens books are total page turners that keep you so engrossed that time just flies. This does end with a cliffhanger setting us up for the next installment in their story.

  • Aliana Milano

Skye Warren is known for her incredibly dark and delicious mind and Private Property was another hit from her.

Jane Mendoza has been hired to nanny Beau Rochesters' recently orphaned niece. Paige tragically lost her parents in what appears to be an accident and is taken in by her paternal uncle. Beau was once a rather eligible bachelor but now, riddled with grief and responsibility after losing his brother, he's colder and sharper. Much more cautious and aware.

Warren creates such a vivid, atmospheric, dark world that utterly consumes you. I was swallowed whole into this book and left in dire need of more after turning the last page. A story of two lost souls connecting whilst navigating through their pain and tragedy. Private Property is the perfect balance of it all. A tangled web of lies and deceit. Full of steam and heat that'll leave you with a dry mouth. Plenty of chemistry and in true Warren fashion, mystery and suspense that'll have you clinging onto every last word.

That ending though! I need more!
Private Property is book 1 of the Rochester trilogy.

Jane Mendoza has just got a job as nanny for Beau Rochester niece Paige. To say the family is broken is an understatement Beau Rochester does not know how to handle Paige he spends his day consumed by work. Jane grew up in the foster care system after losing her father so she understands Paige's loss. Beau Rochester a broken hero with dark demons he can't seem to shake; he is elusive, cold, dominating, and secretive. While Jane and Beau are getting close they have the death of his brother and sister in law between them. This was a great introduction in to their story it keeps me wanting to know the truth about what really happened to Paige's parents. Jane may be too naive to really help this family who doesn't seem to want it. This is a suspenseful read that will have you on the edge of your seat.

“I’m not afraid of him, though. Maybe that will be the death of me.”

Have you ever read a book that literally keeps you awake after reading it? This book was it for me, I am amazed of the writing, the plot and the characters that Skye Warren created in Private Property, truly hands down the best book of 2021 so far.

Secrets, sinister mansion up in a cliff, a billionaire hidden away with a niece he knows nothing about, a nanny in desperate need of a better life; in my opinion this is a really bold and amazing modern re-telling of Jane Eyre; Skye Warren took one of the most dangerous classic books of all times and created a brilliant re-telling.

Jane Mendoza needs to build a better life for herself, so taking a job as the nanny of a seven year old girl is one step closer to that silver lining; she anticipated everything except Beau Rochester. He’s handsome, terrifying and mysterious; she knows he’s keeping something hidden and she’s willing to set him free.

Put aside everything, I mean everything’s kids, husband, work, shower, even food and start this book. You’ll end up like me, stalking Skye Warren for any kind of news on the next book in this trilogy.
