Gabriel…

They say Gabriel Redthorne is the most ruthless royal vampire of all.

They say he tore out a man’s throat just for spilling his bourbon.

They say his heart is so cold, the women he beds turn to ice.

Good. Let them talk.

The vampire prince has always known it’s better to be feared as a monster than loved as a fool, no matter how cold his bed is.

But then he meets her.

The witch who conspired with the enemy to take down the royal family.

Dark and devious.

Fire to his ice.

His prisoner.

And after one forbidden taste, the addiction that will utterly ruin him.

Jacinda…

For five years, dark witch Jacinda Colburn has been preparing.

Preparing to betray her half-demon bloodline.

Preparing to change her identity.

Preparing to disappear.

But for all her careful scheming, nothing could’ve prepared her for the heartless vampire prince—or for the punishment her wicked sins have earned.

They say Gabriel Redthorne is vicious. Filthy. That he can kill a man with just a touch.

But now that he owns her, all Jaci wants to know is…

What can that vicious, filthy touch do to a woman?

I have a really good poker face while listening to smut, but when the narrator moans and I'm not prepared... yo. I am unwell.

    Def recommend tho.

I have been in love with Sarah Piper´s New York Vampires since her Dark Trilogy, the first 3 books of this series that resolves around Dorian Redhorne, Gabriel´s older brother.

Now we get to Gabriel Redthorne and HOT DAMN, holy vampire, what a way to start his story. I mean enemies to lovers is my favorite trope and what a hot-hate-lust infused wild ride this is.

Heart of Thorns fates into where “Dark Obsession” ended. Gabriel takes Jacinda as his “prisoner” and offers her protection in return for locating his foe’s whereabouts and finding a way to eliminate him.

Jacinda has her own dark secrets and crazy twisted family issues but even though she loathes the Vampire Prince she finally gives in as she needs what he can offer and this arrangement could help her solve her own issues.

Gabriel and Jacinda´s chemistry is explosive. Their sexual titter tatter is very entertaining and the anticipation was “killing” me at the same time but it’s also deliciously sexy!

The heat is ON from Chapter 21, oh sexy time here we go but, well, there is one scene I was like “Really?” he just did that? Their teasing is taking new highs, but they also slowly realize that other feelings than hate scratch the surface.

It’s amazing how Sarah can pull you into her stories and keep you there spellbound. Her writing is so vivid, her character development so interesting and I was so fixated on the story that I didn’t realize that I was on the final chapter. So yep cliffhanger.

I seem to be on a #Shanessa trip lately. Shane East & Vanessa Edwin hit this one out of the park again. They are fan-freaking-tastic expressing Sarah´s written words and the different characters. They really have great chemistry, and they are so good in setting the right tone and mood. Their impression of Gabriel & Jacinda and their back-and-forth lust-loathe teasing gave me goosebumps a few times. Whereas Shane is a master of seductive whispers, Vanessa´s performance of an angry annoyed Gabriel is panty-melting. I also loved the way Jacinda loved to tease Gabriel and Vanessa just brought this across perfectly.

This is for the Heart of Thorns/Heart of Fury/Heart of Flames trilogy:

Gabriel Redthorne, vampire prince and younger brother of Dorian, the vampire king. Gabriel is the most ruthless of the Redthorne brothers, and with good reason. He leaves a long trail of death and destruction behind him and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. He kind of prefers it sometimes. When his king needs his help to destroy an enemy to their bloodline, Gabriel’s all in. He doesn’t trust the witch Jacinda, but she’s the only one who can help him maneuver through all the terrible places to find what he’s looking for. Fighting it every step of the way, Gabriel’s attraction to Jaci is inconvenient. Jaci feels the attraction as well, but she’s better off dodging the vampire prince who mistrusts witches, yet is using her to hunt down some of the bad guys. What Gabriel doesn’t know is just how close those monsters are to Jaci. She’s got a few secrets of her own, and as their journey commences, they will be revealed.

When Gabriel and Jaci give into their lust, it is hot AF! But when they both accept their feelings for one another, heaven—and hell—help anyone who tries to harm either of them. The worlds they travel through and the witches, demons, and other monsters that cross their paths are no joke. This is a test of their will and love of family.

This series was intense to say the least. Sarah Piper packs this story with lots of action, plenty of heat, and another dirty talking vampire (thank you!). Shane East and Vanessa Edwin are phenomenal in their narration. Shane’s range of emotions in this series is heart stopping. He seamlessly flows from one character, feeling, attitude, and intensity. Shane owns this series, and I think he knows it. Most of the characters from Dorian’s trilogy is in this story. I’m still seriously crushing on Cole and Adrian.

I've been drawn to Gabriel since I read and listened to the original Vampire Royal's trilogy about his estranged brother, Dorian. To say that Gabriel is swoony, moody vampire is an understatement. He is definitely a bit broken and has experienced a lot of darkness, which is to be expected for a vampire. When his family is attacked, he finds himself tied to the bonded witch of his sworn enemy. And Jacinda, said witch, is determined to keep Gabriel at arms length and use him for her own purposes.

Gabriel and Jacinda's chemistry and attraction is off the charts! Their banter, when they square off against each other, when they finally open up to each other - it's all loaded with begrudging attraction and caring. As the continue to learn each other, they come to lean on each other and really form a bond. A bond that is sorely tested in the cliffhanger at the end of this book!

Yes, this book ends on a cliffhanger. It is part of a trilogy that must be read in order. I can't wait for the next installment.

The audio of this book is fan-freakin-tastic. Shane East is the best moody vampire, positively oozing appeal, sarcasm and disdain, and then wonder, vulnerability and true interest. Vanessa Edwin is a perfect Jacinda. She's got the strength and determination that this witch needs to not only survive, but thrive.

Loved this story, loved this listen, and can't wait for more in their trilogy.

    Audio Review:

Heart of Thorns: A Dark Vampire Romance Vampire Royals of New York: Gabriel, Book 1 is the first book in this new trilogy; parr of the Vampire Royals of New York world. I have not read/listened to the other books in this world so I was at a disadvantage not knowing Gabriel and the supporting character's. Said world this author has created is vividly detailed and her character's development is compelling. The writing style is intriguing and I'm looking forward to listening to the next audio in this trilogy.

Shane East, Vanessa Edwin vocalizes words in a impressive way. Absolutely loved the style of narration. Shane East excellence of a moody Vampire and Vanessa's performance of Jacinda exhibited determination and strength of her character. Both narrators have tones that are fun to listen to. Excellent narration.

    The bitter ashes of betrayal.

The beginning of another trilogy, although it's a continuation of "Vampire Royals of New York," and a great start of Gabriel's and Jacinda's story.

We first have a brief meet of Jacinda during the charity ball, with Renault Duchanes, during the trilogy of Dorian's and Charlotte's story. But other than a few more mentions of her name in that trilogy, that was it!!

But now we're learning all about her and the complex nature of her being a witch-demon hybrid, while also watching as Gabriel because obsessed and fall in love with her.

That is until her half sister joins the party, to which Gabriel finds out that Jacinda has been lying to him!!

    However that's not all!!

Not only has Jacinda kept her true nature from Gabriel, which is bad enough, but also finds out that she had been purposefully, keeping information about the curse from him too!!

Now to bring this story to life, we yet again, have the talented Shane East narrating Gabriel's parts.

However instead of Mackenzie Cartwright narrating for Jacinda, we have the equally talented Vanessa Edwin.

This is again a collaboration of two amazing narrators who have worked together for other authors and go really well together. A great choice really, albeit that after three prior books, it would have been nice to have kept both narrator's through the whole series, but not a huge issue.

I definitely recommend both book and audio. Trust me, you wouldn't regret it.

The Heart of Thorns is the first book of the Vampire Royals of New York: Gabriel trilogy by Sarah Piper. This story is an enemies-to-lovers, dark vampire romance and, since it is a trilogy, be ready for a huge cliffhanger.
Gabriel Redthorne, a cursed and ruthless vampire prince, amazingly narrated by Shane East. He captures a witch that had poisoned his brother and bullies her to work with him against two of his biggest enemies: a course that is slowly killing him and a vampire who wants to vanish the Redthornes from this plane.
Jacinda is a half-witch half-demon woman, powerfully narrated by Vanessa Edwin. She is doing everything in her power to conceal that information from the world, at least until she can get her father's soul back from Hell.
Gabriel and Jacindo take the "keep your enemies closer" saying way too seriously and they fall hard while doing a love and hate dance around each other. This is a must listen audiobook, with mesmerizing interpretations and a compelling, emotional and gripping story.

"Vita mutatur, non tollitur. Life is changed, not taken away. The dead shall rise. The dead shall return. Three of Knives, Death, Ten of Knives. Blood and vengeance. A severed heart. Death. Resurrection. Blood on the sheets. Betrayal."

I've not read this author before so I'm not vested in another series or previous stories. This is the middle of the series and a cliffhanger so maybe not the place to start. Gabriel is a powerful vampire with a curse he needs broken. His family has just come out on top of a power play and Jacinda is a witch who was working for the wrong side. Gabriel takes her more as a spoil of war and demands she help him break his curse. He's one of those cold, broody vampires that stomps around and growls a lot while secretly pining for "the witch". It was entirely readable but Gabriel was a bit one note. Jacinda was a lot more interesting with the background to match. She's actually half demon and previously raised in Hell. She managed to escape her horrific relatives when her father sacrificed his soul. She's on a quest to reunite his comatose body back with his soul but can't find it. This all takes place in the backstory and provides motivation for her to acquiesce to Gabriel. Just didn't click with me and for all the busy in the story the plot progress seemed glacial. I don't want to read 6 books just to get one complete story unless I'm totally enraptured. That alas, didn't happen for me here.

Being a prisoner of the Redthorne prince isn't all it's cracked up to be. A golden cage is still a cage. Bit by bit, Jacinda begins to thaw Gabriel's icy exterior, but will her past ruin any chance at warming his heart? A great continuation of the Vampire Royals of New York series. Sarah Piper has succeeded in making readers invested in her characters once again. Great world-building, suspense, danger, and sensual buildup. The tension between her main characters will have you dying to find out what happens next. Flawless casting has once again brought us narrators who portray these characters to perfection, draw out their emotions and bring the author's story to life. This steamy, emotional rollercoaster makes you want to buy a ticket to ride again and again.

Vampire Royals of New York: Gabriel by Sarah Piper, narrated beautifully by Shane East and Vanessa Edwin is the second trilogy in this series - dark paranormal suspense, mystery, with sexual tension like crazy - SOOOO GOOD! Vampires, werewolves, demons, shifters, witches, magic galore and SUPER sexy with extravagant fuckery (hopefully that's okay to say). I definitely recommend the whole series - but it's definitely NSFW - requires headphones hotness! It's well written with great dialogue, action, evil plot twists, and so much sexual tension you might combust just listening to it.

I'm posting this review for each of the 3 books because they are a trilogy. Don't pass up this series!!

I just didn’t care enough about this book. I’ve been binge reading sooooo many PNR that they start to run together. This book got me over a hump which is why I’m giving it 2 ⭐️ because I remember that I didn’t dislike it…. But I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and I can’t remember what it’s about really. Even after skimming pages to try to remind myself to write this review.

If you do not frequently read PNR but like the genre, this is probably a 3⭐️ read for you. If you read a ton of PNR…. There are better stories out there. I just embeber finishing the book and thinking “meh… wasn’t bad, but I don’t care enough to continue the series”

  • ROMEOISNOTFUNNY

I enjoyed this book, didn't expect to like the lead female character. From the previous series I thought she would be a hard sharp and angry women. Nope I was foolish to think that. She's a survivor, victim and stronger than she or others think.
I cringed at the way Gabriel treated JC....but I must remember he too suffered and broken people running on broken thoughts will make more mistakes and what seems cringe obvious or abusive isn't so black and white when you take into consideration who they are and what they are.
Was sad when it ended and jumped straight to the next book!
    Emotional
    Very hot and steamy
    Heartwarming

This book, wow, what an amazing read. I had to read it in one sitting as I could not put it down. It moves along at a comfortable reading speed making for a relaxing read. The characters are so read that you feel as though you have known them forever and no matter what you want to see them achieve what they set out to do. The story will keep you reading till the end, no matter what you need to do. You will not be able to stop reading till the end. This book needs to be on your TBR list, you will not be sorry.

  • Jaima Ann

Sarah Piper does it again! This book was an amazing read. This book sucked me in like Sarah’s book always do!
The characters are so real that you feel as though you have known them forever. I didn't think I could love Gabriel as much as Dorian, but I was wrong...maybe, we’ll see. Lol.
This story picks right up where the first trilogy, Charley and Dorian's story, left off. Now it’s Gabriel Redthorne and Jacinda Colburn’s time.
Jaci and Gabriel have explosive chemistry that jumps from the pages and woah, the angst!

  • Dew

    Pride & Prejudice

I enjoyed the fmc, Jacinda, but mmc, Gabriel, comes off as an overly dramatic goober. Their “romance” isn’t romantic in the slightest. I can only assume that one must read the 6-12 books about Gabriel’s brother falling in love with a chippy girl to read between the lines of this book. The plot of book would have been more interesting if it were less about Gabriel’s pride and prejudices and more about Jacinda being awesome, but that would require a different author.

  • Books With Bananas

Sexy and seductive, this slow burn will have you coming back for more. The story picks right up where Charley and Dorian's story in book 3 Dark Obsession left off. Desire ignites between the youngest Redthorne, Gabriel and witch Jacinda Colburn, former bonded witch of rival vampire Renault Duchanes. Heart of Thorns is the perfect storyline setup between the witch with devilishly hot secrets and the vampire who's cold as ice. The ending will leave you begging for a more.

    Stunning success

Sarah absolutely does it again. I didn't think I could love Gabriel as much, if not more than his older brother, but I think I do! And oh my god, the angst! It's devastating in the kind where your stomach trembles knowing there's gotta be more, and then Sarah chucks us over the cliff to cling to the side until the next brilliant installment rescues us from the abyss. Bravo Sarah, you nailed it!

  • Samridhi

Simply stunning book... Having not read the earlier releases of the series i was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable pacing of the story and the way Sarah describes the characters is beyond words.

The description of the inner turmoil of the characters really helps to build the book as a must read for people who love to read about strong females and a**hole males.

Just loved the book and eagerly anticipating the next work in the series.

  • Debbie Chittenden

I was not expecting this from this storyline. I mean Gabriel's brooding is one thing. This... wow, it's something else. Where do these women come from? I mean, the betrayal, the lies, the deceit? Come on, seriously. Well, only time will tell what happens next.

  • Dana

    All. The. Feels.

Oh. My. Goodness!!! This book has literally ALL THE FEELS!! My heart is still pounding as I write this and I can’t hardly wait to start the next book!! I thought Dorian and Charlotte had my heart but Gabriel and Jaci are FIRE!!!

  • Belinda Clemons

Gab and Jaci are so good. Sarah has a way with words that make me want to read her books over and over. I can't wait to read book 2 to see what happens next in this thrilling series.

  • Rachael

Explosive start! Looking forward to more in this series.

3.5. a good book, some parts are a litle confusing, like:

The girl is a f*ink half witch half demon to powerfull for her health and a smartass but facing the Enemy She shakes a lot in her boots. 🤔
