Thank You, Tree: A Board Book Reviews
-
This adorable board book will delight children and parents alike.
Not only are the illustrations bright and colorful, they are also educational.
What I mean by saying that this board book is educational is that each two-page spread thanks trees for specific things, such as "Thank You trees for maple syrup." Children at the age where they are being given board books are very young and are unlikely to know which things come from trees. This book helps them to fill that knowledge gap in a fun and engaging way.
I rate this board book as 4 OUT OF 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you to #NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this book. -
This was an adorable book with stunning illustrations. This book emphasizes on the importance of trees and it was really important and also very cute. The illustrations were my favorite part of the book! Beautiful book! Highly recommend for kids.

What a precious book!
Thank You, Tree is a book that celebrates trees. It's a beautifully illustrated book that teaches kids to appreciate trees and nature itself, on how valuable they are into our lives all year long. It's a charming book that mesmerizes kids! I like that there are descriptions of the kind of trees in the book that children can go back to the previous pages to identify—a cute book to read along with young kids.
Thanks to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the copy I received! -
Board book with simple text, but with gorgeous illustrations 😍
-
I think the proof will be in the print with this one, it certainly has the potential to be a gorgeous book. The illustrations are lovely, the sentiment too – an opportunity to pause for a moment to appreciate nature and what the wonderful trees offer us. It's age appropriate in its content and my two children, although older than the target audience, liked the pictures and talked about the different trees we spend time with in our own life - snack trees, climbing trees, story trees and ones to shade under, so it can provoke discussion nicely. It would definitely work with its toddler audience too.
The concept is really lovely and I thought the spot the trees page at the back was a nice touch.
It's definitely one (like most picture books) to hold in your hands, and with a quality print (board book suggests it will be) I imagine this will be a lovely book to own in terms of appearance.
I wonder if the text misses an opportunity a little in terms of the quality of the prose - even toddlers can appreciate the rhythm of flowing language, and it feels like the text doesn't quite meet the potential of the idea. But that's a personal opinion - others may like it's direct brevity.
Overall, though this is a lovely, simple, early years book exploring an aspect of the world around us. -
The book was beautifully illustrated with many children of different ethnicities included. The trees were lovely throughout the book.
The words weren’t the most inspired but they were nice and simple and the style, repetition and typeset are perfect for prompting reading along.
At the end of the book there was a “can you find these trees?” section with each tree drawn and labelled. I was waiting for this from the start, and it is why I wanted to read this book. I think I would have preferred that illustration begin the book, as opposed to/in addition to ending it. I was reading and wondering which tree was which, hoping to be able to say with each page the tree while reading. The reader should have been given the tools from the outset for identification, rather than at the end.
Despite that this book is definitely on my list to buy for babies and toddlers. It’s great encouragement for those less tree inclined to begin the path to recognition & for experts, a wonderful way to share that with the next generation. I read a digital copy, which may be a limitation of this review. -
Another fab board book from the Thank You collection which encourages the youngest of children to show gratitude for the gifts trees give us. From saying thank you to the trees for their beautiful colours to thanking them for their yummy fruits and foods. Using simple repetitive phrasing, children will gain a faster understanding of being thankful and will become familiar with the trees and associated actions and gifts that can be gained from them, associating pictures to the correct names.
It has wonderful, simple illustrations which are generously sized and don’t over power the page, making it easy to spot the different colours, or fruit, children, leaves, etc. Young children will easily be able to point to the different variety of items and objects on the pages and interact with the book, which help in supporting their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
Overall I think this book would be a lovely addition to babies and toddlers. It encourages gratitude and exploration and I think it will pique the interest and curiosity of young minds. I could see this book being used in my settings baby room and very much enjoyed by the children: -
Hmmm, this is an odd little book. With its short sentences and quirky font, it appears to be aimed at the newborn+ age range, however, the illustrations are probably pitched slightly older despite a non-vibrant colour palette.
I like that it emphasises manners and respect. It models great language use where each sentence begins with thanking a tree and explaining that gratitude. There are definitely subtle hints within this book.
Overall, I really liked it although it's likely to be something read in the library or community centre rather than stashed on the playroom shelf for me. That said, I wouldn't discourage others from purchasing it, although I think it has a limited lifespan.
Since I can't award half stars, I'll round up to 5/5 particularly to those with pre-verbal stage children just to be able to make the most of it. -
Be Thankful for Trees
This board book shows all the things that trees give us, from the tangible like food to eat to more esoteric ideas like the joy a Christmas tree brings. The book is mostly soft pastels and neutral colors with occasional bursts of color, much like nature itself. At the end of the book, the author shows and names several tree species and encourages the child to go back through the book and find the specific trees. The book is a gentle and lovely way to encourage environmentalism as well as an appreciation of nature. Perhaps it might also inspire a walk to discover trees near you. This is a fun book that does show why we should be thankful for trees.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Adorable, stunning, and an engaging little board book for young naturalists. Each page features a different tree and something to be thankful for about that tree (e.g. thank you, tree, for shade on a hot day). The repetitive text is perfect for a board book and the illustrations are just lovely. Different children are featured on each page enjoying trees in a variety of ways. And, I love the spread at the end showing all 10 trees featured throughout the book and asking the child if they can go back through the book and spot each specific tree! It's a fun way to start learning some nature vocabulary. Beautifully done!
***Note: I was given a review copy of this book via Storey Publishing. Opinions are my own. -
The many benefits we reap from trees are mentioned and illustrated in this book and it reminds the little ones to be thankful for nature's gifts. Gratitude is the path to happiness after all...that and books in our family :)
I was very pleased with this book, 4 stars. I think it is perfect for 2-3 year olds. There isn't too much text, so it should keep their attention.
I found the illustrations and names of the trees at the end of the book to be a nice bonus, it asks children if they can find the trees in the book. The search and find activity is a nice way to get children to look closer at the illustrations, spend more time with the book, and it becomes more interactive. -
This was a sweet enough book, and I really like the idea of introducing gratitude into a child's daily routine.
The illustrations felt very nostalgic, as they had a kind of retro -feel.
I also liked how it showed the different types of trees at the end of the book to encourage the child reading to spot the various trees within the pages of the book - and maybe on their walks outside.
I wish it had a bit more content in - i appreciate I am not the books target audience, but I think a few more pages of 'thank yous' would have been beneficial. -
This is a lovely little board book which encourages children to be thankful for trees. The book demonstrates everything trees provide for us (beautiful colours, juicy fruit, shelter for birds, places to hide etc.) This book could be read at the start of a new plants/nature topic in an Early years or nursery setting or just enjoyed by young children at home. My son loved looking at all the gorgeous illustrations and talking about the pictures. There is a tree spotting guide at the end of the book which is a great addition.
Thank you NetGalley and Storey Publishing for this eArc. -
Thank You, Tree is another book that teaches children gratitude. Trees give us a lot and are not appreciated for all those things. In this book, using cute illustrations of children, we see that trees provide shade, nuts, hiding places, shelter for animals, fruit and more. I liked that at the end they show all the trees, label them and challenge the reader to find them in the book, so we had to read it again. My grandson enjoyed this one, especially when he got to find all the trees. Another that I recommend to families and preschools.

> children appreciate the many gifts that come from trees
> hiding places, fruit, swings on big branches, maple syrup and more!
> sweet illustrations
Type: board book
Ages: 2-5
I really liked this sweet, simple book. It is secular, but it didn't scream "naturalism" to me. The only thing that could have improved it would be to thank the God who designed all those amazing trees.
The end includes an interactive question that has the child go back and try to find certain types of trees. Simple fun. -
Simply yet engagingly illustrated with simple prose aimed for the young child who enjoys the outdoors. Following all of the reasons that trees are fun is a page showing each tree with its name and an invitation to find it in the earlier parts of the book. Very well done and a good read-to-me book.
I requested and received a free temporary ebook copy from Storey Publishing, LLC via NetGalley. Thank you! -
This is a sweet little book with charming illustartions. It would be wonderful to read to an older toddler or preschooler to begin to foster an appreciation and love for nature and the environment. The illustrations are simple and clear and would be easy for a child to "find the trees" in the pictures. Children can also learn what trees provide such as food, shade, shelter for animals etc. Your 3 or 4 year old would love this book.

We spend a lot of time outside, so my toddler daughter loved seeing all the different aspects of what trees give us. We loved that the book features many different kinds of trees and had a little scavenger hunt at the end. Lovely illustrations make this one a definite winner! Thank you NetGalley for the advanced ebook in exchange for my honest review - I think this one will be an even better board book.

Who wouldn't love this cute book?!
I feel so blessed when I read this book. It's just a wonderful reminder of how grateful we are for all the greenery around us, the trees specially. How we tend to neglect them but how grateful we are we are blessed with them.
The picture book is informative regarding some specific trees. Such a beautiful illustrated read.
Thank you, author/artist and the publisher, for the advance reading copy. -
My daughter and I loved this book as we love trees and nature. The book has gorgeous illustrations and I loved the way the book shows us how to be grateful and say thank you to trees for the magnificent gifts they bless us with. I highly recommend this lovely little book.

I read this to a child today, and she loved every tree. She was very excited about naming them at the end, asking me to read each one for her on the last page. She also learned that maple syrup comes from trees for the first time! 🍁 I chose this book for story time because of the topic, and the illustrations of each tree are magic. They made me grateful for all the trees I grew with, too. 🌳

This was such an incredibly cute book. Very simple, and beautifully illustrated. And informative, since the names of all the tree species are listed in the back. Highly recommend for little nature lovers.
