It's been five years since the Pulse, the mysterious event that led to the complete failure of the world's electrical grid and plunged society into permanent darkness.

THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES...

Nurse Lucy Goodwin, her brother Jack, and her young ward Norah now live in Promise, a small community that formed in the wake of the technological apocalypse.

Their lives are not easy, but they have food, water, weapons, and medical care. They are among the lucky ones in a world beset by lawlessness and starvation.

But after encountering a trio of mysterious bandits, Lucy and Jack learn that a new threat lurks on the horizon, one that could spell the end of their community ... and their lives.

Nightfall: An EMP Survival Thriller (American Midnight Book 2) Reviews

This book takes the apocalyptical thriller to the next step--- showing life after the world-ending event. That's what makes this such an addictive page-turner. Lucy and her brother are not just trying to survive, they are fighting for their home and their extended family. The world David Kazzie creates is real and identifiable. The story is riveting and the action is extraordinary. This is exactly the kind of escapist fiction that I wanted to read. I highly recommend this.

The previous book left off after a harrowing escape from bad guys and I was disappointed that this jumps 5 years into the future. We get some flashback as to how the Promise community is formed, but we do miss a lot of that evolution. I do think in a scenario like this, you would get a group that finds it more expedient to simply oppress others to get what they need and this explores that. It is also a book where it is ill-advised to become too attached to characters.

Brilliant.. exceptional reads number 3 coming soon can’t wait.
When the lights go out, planes fall, trains derail. Everything becomes chaotic. Then it becomes a fight for survival a fight to live. But always there is evil in someone who wants it all.

Good second book, adding secondary characters, themes and good speculation about long term society evolution, or perhaps one might say a return to feudalism and power. Good reflection on how what we consider a short distance - 30 miles, in a post machine world can be infinite.

When will I learn to check for the whole Trilogy prior to starting one? Hurry up and write David, I cannot wait to see what happens next! What a cliff hanger!

    Nightfall

The scene with Lucy and Tim was a little too explicit for me. However, the plot was good and kept my attention.

Thrilling, frightening; Not something I could read at a single sitting - needed quite a few timeouts after disturbing events; quite worth sticking with it!

    Ok

Not a bad read, skipped a few years between first and second book. Quite enjoyed it since I will read the last book .
