Blade Runner Origins #1 Reviews

While I enjoyed this, I didn't think it was as effective as Blade Runner 2029; it slogs along, with multiple storylines that might intersect later on, but don't know, and I'm not fond of the pacing partly because of that.

There's also less about the replicants and I wanted more of them. And yet, the human aspect of the detective charged with a suicide at the Tyrell Corporation is compelling, and the reveal at the end is a major hook for me.

So, yes, despite the pacing complaint, this is good enough that I would gladly move onto the next issue. I know some first issues are paced well, but I also suspect this is a multi-layered story that will play out well in the end and the payoff could be fantastic, but sometimes these stories are a slow burn at the beginning.

Still, I didn't like it quite as much as the first issue of Blade Runner 2029, so a four star rating.

A great introduction to the series about the first replicant, the graphic style is absolutely stunning and so close the the original movie artwork which makes it instantly recognisable to a blade runner fan. Excited to see what happens next.

It seems like this may have been designed as a prequel to the comic series Blade Runner 2019. Some of the art was good.
