BOOK 2: THE MISSING WIFE
Lady Yvette, the beautiful wife of a local MP is found choked to death in a reservoir, robbed of her clothes and antique pearls. Inspector Angel is called in to investigate. But the evidence is scant and he has only his guile to rely on. Can he stop the choker before he strikes again?

Celebrity art critic Frank P. Jones, aka “the Man in the Pink Suit”, shoots a wealthy industrialist. Jones strongly denies the charge, but he has the motive, the opportunity, a Walter PPK/S automatic, and no alibi. DI Angel must unravel the truth from the lies. Was Jones hypnotized, drugged, or is he simply a liar?
BOOK 4: THE MORALS OF A MURDERER
Duncan McFee is savagely murdered in a distillery where he was chairman. He’s found in one of the vats used to make gin. Yet none of the suspects is burly enough to have delivered the fatal blow. Detective Inspector Michael Angel is called in to unravel the mystery.
BOOK 5: THE AUCTION MURDERS
At the auction of Lord Ogmore’s estate, a man is stabbed to death with a silver dagger. Before long, DI Angel finds himself on the trail of a serial killer who leaves behind no clues, no fingerprints and no DNA. Angel has only one eye-witness — and he’s blind. Will Angel solve his toughest case yet?
BOOK 6: THE MISSING KILLER
A masked man bursts into a quiet country club to confront a young couple. He says, “Your time is up. That girl is mine.” Then he kills one of them. Witnesses cannot identify him and DI Angel’s investigation seems doomed. Faced with vengeful gangsters, crooked police and mentally unstable young men, can Angel work it all out in time and walk away unscathed?
BOOK 7: THE UMBRELLA MURDERS
An arsonist threatens to set fire to the luxury home of the local MP. DI Angel has two suspects. One has completely disappeared, the other is locked in a police cell. Will the umbrella man be able to execute his threat while still in police custody? DI Michael Angel must race against the clock to unravel this baffling mystery.
Detective Michael Angel: Books 1-7 (Yorkshire Murder Mysteries #1-7) Reviews
-
Didn’t really get on with the lead character of these books, the sexist & racist comments seemed unnecessary to me. All I can say is that I’m glad I didn’t pay for the books.

I haven't finished this box set. It's unusual for me to give up on a book once I've started but I just can't finish this. It reads like farce. People jump from one emotion to another with no transition and are always flinging their arms around. The characters are too irritatingly one dimensional to care about. Definitely not for me.
-
Boring
Of you like columbo, you might like this.
Some of the it's are taken direct from the series, ok 50 years ago,but true nevertheless. Asp too much bawling and similies,
Not good -
This was a group of seven books featuring Detective Michael Angel. I love this character!
#1 The Missing Nurse - I had read this one and reviewed it on its goodreads page.
#2 The Missing Wife - I had also read this one earlier and reviewed it on its goodreads page.
#3 The Man in the Pink Suit - I think D. Angel is really blossoming into a great character. He is always yelling at his men - because they don't appear fast enough - although they might be in the next room. The Man in the Pink suit is an ingenius set up by someone who wants to kill two birds with one stone.
#4 The Morals of a Murderer - I love the old lady who owns the dairy farm and says the Queen will only drink her farm's milk. This is a delightful addition to the series. In this one there is a man who falls into a vat of gin. The way Angel figures out who dunnit is great. All the clues are there, but I never got it 'til the end.
#5 The Auction Murders - seriously these characters are many and varied and every one of them great! In this one a murder takes place at an auction house after the Lord and Lady's tea service is sold to our lovable dairy farmer lady from the previous book. Other murder ensue and we finally discover who it is when Detective Angel nabs them.
#6 The Missing Killer - This one wasn't my favorite, but still an entertaining read. The man jumps out and yells "You can't have her, she is mine!" Then kills the guy. I found myself confused about the motives here.
#7 The Umbrella Murders - this one was truly genius. The way Detective Angel comes up with the answer, almost but not quite in time, was incredible. Umbrellas with a cup of uncooked rice inside their folds hanging from the ceiling...amazing. -
Oh how much I enjoyed this set of novels. Good job really as I now have volumes eight to 21 next to read. It is such a rare event to find such a relaxed style of writing, every event is recorded in deliberate detail, even when driving his car, clutch pedal depressed, handbrake taken off, accelerator gently feathered, so much detail. Inspector Angel sticks to routine, always walking down the ‘green corridor’ to his office at exactly 08:28, but he has a wonderful detective mind and a hated Superintendent as a boss, who likes to take the plaudits after a solved case. He is very considerate and totally relaxed as he sets about solving his cases. Each book is a stand alone storyline but occasionally refers to previous characters and cases. The books do not roar along at 100 mph but Mr Silverwood has a definite modus operandi with the plots well thought out and engrossing, making them very readable. Looking forward to volume eight.

Detective Inspector Michael Angel Series by Roger Silverwood - Books 1-7 Box Set. You definitely want Inspector Angel on your case. He is clever, unconventional, and solves the case. His boss is irascible and hard to take but gives Angel opportunity to do his unique form of solving the mystery. The location is a small town in the UK and his team jumps when he growls. Now I’m off to get Box Set 2 and continue the adventure.

The title character was a bit off-putting at first and I wasn't sure about diving into a 7 book series with this guy. I stuck with it and I'm glad I did. I either got used to the main character or the author toned him down a bit, but now I'm friends with D.I. Angel. I do think I need to find a book to translate the Kings English to the U.S. English. 😁

Angel Does The Job
A well written British crime series featuring a Detective Inspector who deals with murders, arson and anything else the the local criminals might get up to.
His dogged pursuit of criminals of all types does him credit, and results are usually achieved despite the efforts of senior officers who have an eye on budgets as a priority. An entertaining series. -
Enjoyable but
I enjoyed this series and will start next group. However, I would have enjoyed them more if the author didn't put the stupid jokes in and the animosity that Angel showed to his staff, the stupid things he came out with etc. Luckily I can read through all this though it is annoying. -
So disappointing
I wanted to give this series a chance so I pressed on through the first book. It read like a student was describing the scenes from a mediocre television drama filmed by a roommate. Please find an editor who will give an honest appraisal before publishing. -
Brilliant &Entertaining
What a pleasure to read books with such surprising twists and turns! Excellent writing. Thank you Roger Silverwood! Loved the quirks and comment of Detective Angel
