Just a sleepy former mining town turned tourist haven in the mountains of Northern Arizona until the “incident”—the meteorite that gave everyone in the town powers, but only while in or near Carterville.
With a dead woman dressed as an elf found on Christmas morning in snow-globe-perfect Carterville, it falls to police chief Henry Carter to solve the murder. But Henry knows the victim, and his suspect list soon fills up with the people closest to him.
With no allies and powers involved, Henry risks his life to solve the crime and to find some kind of justice for his friend.
From Robert J. McCarter, long-time Arizona resident and the author of The Blood of Carterville, comes a Christmas murder mystery and a town you will never forget.

Ordinary people who discover that they have superhuman abilities
A meteorite fell in the small Northern Arizona town of Carterville. The residents were suddenly given unique powers such as levitation, telekinesis, telepathy, the power of healing, and other smaller powers.
What a cool premise but unfortunately this book didn't work.
I was looking for a mystery solved with superpowers but what i got was a bad romance novel with a splash of murder to spice it up. Police Chief Henry Carter was a dry dull character who acted more like a love stricken teenager. The rest of the cast were just as dull. The police procedural was amateurish and the ending with Henry hanging on to the killer as they floated out of town was laughable.
The meteor was the authors kryptonite, his superpower to write a good book vanished.

I received a copy of Out of a Christmas Sky by Robert J. McCarter from Goodreads Giveaway. This was a powerful read for me since my sister passed away in December. It was not a murder like in the book, but the refrains of death and grief in the story were real for me. As a lifelong fan of the paranormal, I especially enjoyed the powers of the townspeople of Carterville. The police chief Henry is a humanly flawed character and I wonder about his superpower. The mystery was well done and I did not see it coming at all. I want to read the next Carterville story but since I know the one the author is writing now will come before The Blood of Carterville, I might wait for that one instead.

Received a Kindle copy as a GoodReads giveaway. I liked it and would like to read more in the series. Interesting cast of characters and an engaging plot with paranormal twists. The writing is grammatically challenged at times, and it put me off a little at first. Since it's written in first person, though, you could argue that it's the main character's manner of speech and writing. I actually got accustomed to it after a while.

Goodreads Kindle Copy Win
Carterville appears to be a perfect snow globe town. But beneath perfection lies betrayal and secrets. Things will soon unravel when a Christmas murder takes place and all will not be as before.
A fascinating read that will keep you on your toes during this holiday season. -
Small town murder
A Goodreads giveaway win I recommend. I never know what to expect from an author whom I haven't read anything from. I liked the characters and the described beauty of its setting. It did have a few errors, but not as many as many other Kindle books have. -
