One night. Just one night.

Or at least that’s what Maisie tells herself when she brings Jack Durand home. Because even though his arms are things of beauty and he can charm wild animals (a huge turn-on for an animal lover like her), she’s in no position to start anything with anyone. So she pretends she’s just scratching an itch.

Jack is pretending too. His little sister is moving to Asheville as his ward, and between getting her through her senior year of high school and working at the family brewery, he doesn’t have time for a girlfriend. Even a sexy, no-nonsense powerhouse like Maisie.

But he can’t stop thinking about her, and it turns out he doesn’t have to. Her best friend, River, announces his engagement to Jack’s half-sister, Georgie, and—surprise!—they’re both in the wedding party.

Fate keeps throwing Jack and Maisie together, reminding them of how good they are together . . . which would be a whole lot less complicated if she hadn’t spent half her life in love with River.

Getting Lucky (Asheville Brewing, #3) Reviews

Getting Lucky is the third book in the Asheville Brewing series by Denise Grover Swank and A.R. Casella. This is Jack and Maisie’s story. I’ve been looking forward to this one because I already had an attachment to these two characters.

From the start, I loved Jack Durand, the half brother that had never been acknowledged by the Buchanan family, until now. As part owner along with his siblings of Buchanan Brewery, he is slowly forming a relationship with his two half sisters, Georgie and Addy. He’s making a life in Asheville. He’s become guardian to his younger seventeen year old sister Iris so she is coming to live with Jack. When she gets there, Jack knows that seeing to Iris’s well being has to be his number one priority. That means that this is the worst possible time to feel attracted to someone. But when he and Maisie agreed to a one night stand, he can’t help but feel like there was more here worth exploring.

Maisie O’Shea runs the animal shelter in Asheville. She’s been friends with River since they were kids, they’ve been through everything together. She’s been in love with River for years but kept it a secret. She was devastated when River started dating Jack’s half sister Georgie. And now they are engaged. Maybe she just has to accept that she’s destined to be alone with nothing but occasional hookups. She was definitely attracted to Jack and his swoony biceps. They agreed to a one night only fling and what a night it was! But she knows she can’t offer anything else, at least until she lets go of her lingering feelings for River. Add to that Jack’s little sister arriving.

Fate had other ideas for these two though. They are thrown together time and time again with engagement party planning, wedding planning, and teenage angst regarding Jack’s sister, Iris. Maisie sees something of herself in Iris and takes her under her wing. Jack and Maisie slowly get to know each other better which seems to deepen the attraction between them. Try as they might, they can’t deny that something is happening. But the timing is all wrong.

These two had both been through so much in their lives. I want to add here, that I loved Jack’s sister, Iris. She was so full of drama when she first arrived. I loved watching both Maisie and the Buchanan sisters draw her out. I loved Jack and Maisie together. They deserved their own happiness but both struggled with accepting it. In this book we also get a peek at the missing brother, Lee. To be honest, when he comes into the story, I didn’t like him at all! But by the end, my opinions had softened. And, we also get a little more knowledge of what their evil father, Prescott has been up to. He’s just one of those characters that have absolutely no redeeming qualities. It’s a wonder his children all turned out so well.

This is a quirky romance with all sorts of shenanigans along with lots of cute animal scenes which I loved. The fourth and final book in this series is entitled Bad Luck Club, and will be Lee’s story. I suspect I know who his romantic interest will be but I won’t share that. You’ll figure it out I’m sure if you read this one.

I really like Getting Lucky. I read 2 books on this series so far and I enjoyed it. Getting Lucky is a story of Masie and Jake. Jake the half brother who has abandon issue.

I like Jake. Despite all what happened to him, he is loyal, protective and fierce. Sometimes I want to shake his other siblings being such cruel to him.

The chemistry and the story is slow burn. It is 11 hours worth of audiobook. I enjoy the whole 11 hours.

This being the third book in the series, we have seen a little of Jack and Maisie in the previous instalments, and now we get their tale and HEA. I do believe they are my favourite couple to date, but I am holding out for Lee as I think he is going to wow me.

These are all standalone novels, and can be read as one, but I do recommend you read from the start as even though each book is centred on one couple, they are all present and interactive in each book at all times. So knowing the previous couples story and HEA's is helpful. That being said, it's a great series and one you should read in its entirety.

In this instalment, Jack now has custody of his little sister Iris and it complicates things for him with Maisie. She herself is coming to terms with letting things go and understanding her true feelings. She has a lot of personal growth in this book which was awesome. I felt for her and the backstory of her parents, she just wants to hang on to them for as long as she can, and I get that. For me, I thought Iris was a delight, she had so much upheaval in a short amount of time but I think she come out the other end with poise. I loved the closeness she and Jack have and will continue to have even though he is now in a relationship with Maisie. The way they included Iris in their celebrations was touching. Maisie and Jack together made a lot of sense in my eyes. They each knew how precious it was to find someone that got them completely.

As I said before, I am looking forward to Lee's story. He is so mixed up at present, and my heart just wants him to be happy and not blue any more..... or maybe Blue is just what he needs.

What an emotional and entertaining read! It's getting better and better with each new book!
There's everything you need - a lot of laughter, comic disastrous scenes, heartstrings pulling moments, some drama, family bonds, friendship, love and those adorable dogs that makes you fall in love instantly!
Wonderful realistic loveable characters. I absolutely love aunt Dottie, even more now! Even though where's aunt Dottie involved, there's going to be some kind of disaster too.
I'm so glad we got to know Maisie and Jack's characters much deeper and so to understand all whats and whys. Love Iris and even Lee. Buchanan family and friends have really grown on me, apart from Prescot and Victoria who I hate from the beginning.
I believe you're going to love this book as much as I loved it and can't wait for the next installment!

I am loving this series!!! Maisie and Jack’s story is fun, flirty, tender and emotional. I laughed, I cried, I oohed and aahed. I really enjoyed getting to know Jack better. He has been pretty closed off, but turns out he is funny, sweet, loving, and a pet whisperer. Maisie has always been a firecracker, but underneath it all is hurting and grieving. Maisie and Jack give in to their attraction and instantly click at the beginning of the book. They try to fight their feelings, but as they get to know one another better their bond just strengthens.

Maisie has been holding onto the past for a long time, but with Jack’s help starts to let go and move on. Jack had a hard upbringing and has just become guardian to his 17-year-old sister, Iris. And while he has longed for a relationship with his half-brother and half-sisters, he is insecure about where he fits in. Maisie and Jack end up being just what each other needs.

While the book focuses on one main couple, we still get to see what is happening with all the previous couples, friends and family. Secrets are exposed about the Buchanan’s father, Prescott. This is going to lead us into Lee’s story in the next book. Can’t wait!!!!

The authors have created such fantastic, realistic three-dimensional characters that make me feel like I’m one of the family as I’m reading. I wish the series could go on and on.

Out of all the characters, Jack was the most intriguing one I wanted to read about. He had an air of mystery around him that I was anxious to figure out. Although when I found out Maisie was the heroine in this one, I was a bit hesitant. In previous books, her demeanor just didn’t sit we with me. But in the end I think out of the three books released so far this one was my favorite.

*Please be warned it is in third person*

Jack and Maisie are the first to arrive of the clan, at another one of Dottie’s backyard crazy adventures. Can’t involve Dottie without adding crazy. They find themselves not wanting to be apart of anymore of the disaster that has already ensued so they decide to make their leave... together.

What starts as a one night stand to most, eventually turns into a connection that both Jack and Maisie need in their life to move forward from their past. You just can’t stay away from your human soul companion! I was able to come around quite a bit to Maisie and adored Jack. What a sweetheart he is.

Some parts just often felt like they were dragged out that could’ve made the book move along faster but I still enjoyed the story and the characters. Towards the end you get some action and stirring of the pot which sets us up for the next book with Lee. I do feel that they aren’t standalone and you do need to read them in order to get the full, proper picture. But Jack and Maisie are the sweetest couple and got lucky finding each other.

A delightful Rom-com full of endearing characters and sassy banter.
After an eventful Buchanan Thanksgiving dinner, sparks fly between Jack and Maisie but they agree it's just for one night. Jack's life is beyond complicated. In addition to running a brewery with his three half siblings, he is also dedicated to raising his seventeen year old sister Iris, who is sparing Jack none of the teen angst, he just can't add a relationship to the mix. Maisie is dedicated to her animal shelter and is set her ways so she's not looking for a relationship. However, Jack and Maisie are constantly thrown together making them rethink their one night policy.
Denise Grover Swank and AR Casella have crafted a fantastic world with the Asheville Brewery series. In this third installment, the Buchanan Brewery crew is back with the characters readers have come to love. That means anything goes, especially if Aunt Dottie is involved, from reading tea leaves to plotting parties, and dispensing sage advice-- if Dottie is involved you better be on your toes! You're going to want to read this tale in one sitting, but be prepared for bursts of laughter!

Thank you to the authors for the opportunity to read an advanced copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really liked this book. I think Jake and Masie have stories we needed to know. Jake has a lot going on and I hope everything will work out in the end. Masie has a past she needs to over come and work out her issues. I was glad to see these two get together. They was my couple pick. I knew sparks would be there if they could get everything worked out. There is a lot of learning in this book. It seems everyone finds their place in the family by the end. There is still all the fun you expect with this authors books. I think they get better as the series goes on. I think everyone will enjoy this book. It did not take long to reads. I could not put it down.

    Getting Lucky

I adored this book. Jack is such a giving and wonderful person. Masks is also, they just show it in different ways. Together they are awesome.

If you haven't picked up this series yet, what are you waiting for?! Getting Lucky is the 3rd installment in the Asheville Brewing series and the best book in the series so far! This book is filled with sooo much Buchanen family drama and Dottie antics it's hard not to love it!

Both Maisie and Jack are such relatable characters, it's hard not to love them! Maisie overcomes so many of her fears in this book, thanks to the help of Jack and his sister Iris, that it makes you want to concur some of your own. In return she helps Jack deal with his feelings of inadequacy in the Buchanan family. I think they're definitely my favorite couple so far! They also help to reveal some family secrets that have spent too much time in the dark (the drama I mentioned!)

I can't wait to see what happens in the 4th and final installment of this series, which will focus on the last remaining Buchanan sibling, Lee. Up until now Lee has not been the easiest character to love, but I have no doubt we'll learn so much more about him and come to love him too.

Getting Lucky is Book Three in the Asheville Brewing Series and the books keep getting better and better! Denise Grover Swank and A.R. Casella may have just given us their best collaboration yet.

Maisie is in a rut. Her mind and her heart are stuck in the past. Her life is lonely and mundane..
Jack is new to Ashville. His childhood was full of rejection and his adult life is unhappy and uncertain.
They both lead a solitary and discontented life until fate brings them together one night at a Buchanan Brewery party where they feel an instant connection. They throw good sense to the wind
for just one night. It may be just one night but, that night is everything. The problem is, one night
is all there can be, each for different reasons.

This is a fabulous read that has back and forth banter, laugh out loud situations and tender heartfelt moments. I was invested in Maisie, Jack, their family and their friends lives from the first page until the last. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a wonderful romantic comedy.

  • Kari Hansen

When it comes to his family Jack has always felt like he was on the outside looking in and had no parental support to ease the transition. He may come across as distant but that is a shield he has perfected to protect himself. Finding himself responsible for his sister Iris will be enough of challenge so he certainly doesn’t need to add in the complication of being attracted to Iris.

Maisie has been best friends with River since they were children however her feelings ran much deeper. She is happy that he has found Georgie, Jack’s half-sister, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. After meeting at a function, they agree to one steamy evening together, but they are about to find out that one night is not enough.

Both Maisie and Jack bear the emotional scars of the past which is having on an impact on their present. As they open their hearts and lives to each other they appreciate each other for who they are and how their pasts shaped them and seeing them come together as a couple was so much fun to watch.

  • Andrea Hastings

I absolutely loved Getting Lucky. Jack and Maisie are so fun. I have loved each book of this series even more than the last, which is crazy because I have loved each book so much. Getting Lucky has the entertaining Buchanan Brewery parties that I absolutely love and find hilarious. Jack is more fun than I thought he would be based in previous book. Maisie is just as sassy and fun and I hoped. Iris is wonderful and I hope to see more of her. I love Maisie's sisters too and would love to see more of them, especially Molly. I can not wait to learn more about Lee in the next book.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really enjoyed getting to know more about Jack in this installment. The mystery that has surrounded Jack in the past books is finally revealed and it just opened the floodgates. It can be a emotional book for some but I found it bittersweet. There is some comedy, and angst. I don’t think I’ll ever look at a goose the same ever again. If you know, you know! 🤣
We get to see several of the past characters in this installment. We also get to see Lee and Vic-tor-ia.😂
If you enjoy romcom then check this series out.

  • Kelly Mccurdy

Maisie and Jack story has all the feels. I wasn’t too sure about Jack, but knowing his story, I have learned to love him. I giggled, cried and smiled way to much in this book! Denise and A.R. Make a great writing team. They know how to write a book that keeps you coming back for more. I highly recommend this book!

  • #ByFelicia

Jack Durand. Can I keep him? Jack and Maisie’s story was so heartfelt. Ugh, all. the. FEELS! Both have been through so much. They were so perfect together. I look forward to Lee’s story next. He may be the sibling that’s the most lost. I’m excited to see how his HEA comes about.

Maisie and Jack's night was just a one time thing. Or at least it was supposed to be. But feelings are developing, no matter that neither is exactly in the right frame of mind for a relationship. But a relationship it is, perhaps, though, until Jack finds the real reason Maisie was holding back from starting a relationship. Maisie has grown, a ton, in a short time, and it will be up to Jack to realize this and give her the benefit of the doubt, if he wants their relationship to last.

This series keeps getting better with each story and each couple. I felt as if Maisie and Jack were the most real, and definitely the one who did the most growth. The sisters (and brothers) of this series are all so relatable and likable, and Maisie and Jack and their insane chemistry and wonderful personalities are the best yet. Now I'm even more excited for
    Bad Luck Club,
    Blue and Lee's story.

    Great series with great characters

This series is so enjoyable and has such great characters. This one i especially loved because Maisie being in rescue, and vegetarian was super relatable. (We volunteer for cat rescue and are vegetarian) it's so rare to have a veg character thar isn't just used as a comedic quip. Jack is probably my favorite of the guys so far. I especially loved all his interactions with his sisters. Adelia is still my fav of the ladies. I adore her free spirit and loved that she was still in this quite a bit.

I did remove one star because the goose lady is evil not funny and every time she's in this i was left feeling like "why would they allow this awful person with no empathy in their lives?"
Excited for Lee's story although so far Blue has seemed like the most bland character so im nervous., but i must continue my binge.

  • Darcy

These books are filled with so much pandemonium that you can't help but look forward to see what craziness will happen at one of the myriad of parties that happen. This time it was Maisie and Jack who found love. I liked how things started out, but then when one of Maisie's dogs ate Jack's note and things just stopped I felt bad for what both of them were missing. Then Jack's sister seemed to be the obstacle, it was always something. Yet every time both Maisie and Jack were yearning for the other and so much of their relationship ended up being 1 step forward and 3 steps back.

When they finally were on the same page, family drama of Jack's came into play big time. While I'm sorry what one family member went through, the other really had it coming. I liked where Maisie and Jack were by the end of the book, both happy and their families expanding by so much.

    Extra Good Read

Please start this series at the beginning with Georgie and Rivers story, Any Luck At All. Sometimes its the family were are born with, but often it's the family we make that is most important.

Excellent world of wonderful characters, witty dialogue and a very good plot.

  • Marissa

I love this series because it seems like each story gets better and better.
Each time I start a new book, it feels like I am getting another layer to get to know ALL of the characters, past and present.
I really enjoy it because other series I have read in the past doesn't include past characters like this. Maybe a blurb here and there, but that is it.
In the past, I was not sure if I even liked either one of these main characters.
Jack seemed like he had something to hide and I was not thinking it was something so noble. He really is an amazing guy.
As for Maisie, I always felt ambivalent towards her because she seemed pretty forgettable in past books. I just felt like she was this stuffy, nerdy, type of person with an attitude.
I am a terrible judge of character because this book really laid both of these characters bare, and I love them now.
I am so happy with the way this story went, and the addition of Iris, I truly loved seeing the three of them as a family unit. Add in Maisie's sisters, Molly and Mary, and this book seemed
more well rounded than some of the others. You got to see more real life issues and it made it more relatable to me.
Jack is a truly awesome guy who has flaws, but very down to earth and HONORABLE. You see why he has hung around in the background. I thought he was not interested much in his siblings but now you see what was actually happening.
Maisie seems more like someone I would be friends with in real life. I like that she knew herself well enough to make some changes and if she didn't she was holding herself back.
There was no back and forth with her that annoyed me. It seemed like whoever wrote her character related very well. This book allowed me in and I really like her now.
The backstories for both main characters is so sad. I can't even imagine the strength of someone who has ever had to deal with those situations.
Of course, my not so favorite character Georgie was in it with her engagement storyline. I do love she was not so wishy washy this time around.
Adalia and Finn are still adorable! Lee had a pretty good part in this book and Victoria was over the top.... and I LOVE what happened with her. I am evil laughing about it now.
Dottie surprised me, she always seemed like a crazy old lady in the past stories but she really nails someone in this book and I wouldn't want to mess with her! HAHA!
She is a lot sharper than she lets on.
I am looking forward to ready Lee's story next. That guy really needs something special in his book!

  • Heather

With each new entry in this series, I fall more in love with the Buchanan family. Although each book stands alone, I’m so glad that we still get to see glimpses into the romantic progress of the couples in the later books. Finn might still be my pick of all the boys so far, but Jack is a VERY close second, and the love story between Maisie and Jack is definitely my favorite of all. I loved watching the two of them fall in love, and it was so nice to dive into their pasts. I was worried that the remnants of Maisie’s feelings for River would make this romance unbelievable, but in some ways this story was the most realistic of all the relationships so far. Jack’s concern about introducing a new girlfriend into his life while taking over guardianship of his sister, and Maisie’s tendency to hold onto the past, are all things incredibly relatable. It was nice to see the character development of Maisie as she realized that her fear of change was holding her back.

Despite the fade to black aspect of this series, I didn’t feel like that took anything away from this couple. The chemistry between Jack and Maisie jumped off every page, and the heat between them was palpable. I could really feel how much they wanted to be together, despite the circumstances going on around them. Maybe that’s what happens when the book starts with a one-night stand!

I’m going to be sad to watch this series wrap up in the next book, and I’m very curious to see how a romance can develop between the next couple given the way they met in this book! I won’t give anything away, but that was a pretty unromantic moment. I have faith in A.R. Casella and Denise Grover Swank, however, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they make us fall in love with the next couple just like we have fallen in love with the other three.

  • Confessions of a Bookaholic

Could Jack be any sweeter of a man!!!

Maisie O'Shea is at a bit of a crossroads in her dating life. For as long as she can remember she has loved her best friend, River, yet never told him. It doesn't help matters that her best friend is now engaged to the sister of her other friend. She has based every attempted relationship on what type of man River is and subconsciously looked for men like him.....until she met the man who wasn't like him.

Jack Durand has relocated to Asheville after recently learning he has three half-siblings on his father's side. He doesn't know his father and has never met the siblings but he moved there to help run the family brewery. He is a man who thinks he doesn't have time for dating since his half-sister on his mom's side is coming to live with him.

One night they both end up at the same party and openly flirting with each other and decide to give in and enjoy just one night of each other's company except can either of them stick to that agreement. Jack cannot stop thinking about her but keeps stopping himself and Maisie doesn't think she is ready for a relationship after seeing River get engaged to Jack's half-sister.

No matter how hard these two try to stay apart they keep getting thrown together either from Iris (Jack's other half-sister) and her volunteering at the dog rescue shelter Maisie owns or both of them being in River and Georgie's wedding party. These two are meant to be together but they seem to think the long road is the way to go.

This was the first book I have read by these ladies and I quite enjoyed it. I fully plan on going back and reading the first two books in this series because I loved all of the characters and want to know their full stories.

I was given an advanced copy of this book for an honest review!

I am really LOVING this series of books and getting Lucky is a delightful edition to them, and the ongoing saga of these characters..who inherit Beau's brewery.
This is Jack and Maisies romance.
What first begins as a one night stand for Jack and Maisie turns into an undeniable attraction that they both can't ignore. But they do try to ignore it,after all Jack has responsibilities he has to take care of his 17 year old sister Iris and needs all his focus on her.
Maisie is trying to come to terms with her past, the death of her parents and the crush she had on her best friend River for 10 years. So she would be silly to try to get into any sort of complication with Jack.
I Loved Jack he had alot to deal with coming to Asheville and trying to get to know his half sisters and brother and feeling like he is on the outside alot.He made the effort with everyone and was even nice to his half brother Lee when Lee was not very welcoming to him.
He was tired of being second best though and that is how he felt when it came to Maisie,he thought he was just a subtitute for River her best friend and crush.
Maisie is finally realising that her affection for River was not romantic love because the way she felt when she was with Jack was totally different,Jack made her want to change and have a future to stop living in the past. But wires get crossed and it seems they may never be able to be together.
This book is such a charming and enchanting story this is a funny, emotional, romantic and entertaing read.I am totally beguiled by these characters and this world that A.R Casella and Denise Grover Swank has created.I have fallen in love with these quirky characters and Dotties wisdom, she is definately my kind of lady.
A sensational book that I enjoyed immensely.
    I highly recommend it.

This is the third book in the Asheville brewing series and must be read in order to better understand the family dynamics and underlying plots.
I was pleasantly surprised to find Maisie as the love interest of Jack. Since her name is clearly in the blurb (that I didn’t read) this isn’t a spoiler. I liked Maisie from her introduction and follow up appearances in the last two books. I wasn't quite expecting her to be Jack’s love interest due to the unrequited love she had for someone else. I really enjoyed seeing her finally find a way to move forward.
Jack is a fabulous character! He is selfless, caring and protective of those he loves. He was delt a pretty crapy beginning thanks to his selfish mother and sperm donor (Prescott doesn't deserve to be called his father) but he isn’t jaded or closed off. I loved his dynamic with his little sister Iris and his willingness to always be there for her.
I enjoyed Jack and Maisie’s fun and flirty banter. They balance each other well and are a cute couple. I had expected there to be more of a blow up concerning the main conflict that had been eluded to throughout the book. However, by the time it happened, it was practically a moot point.
Iris was a nice addition to the cast. I would love for her to have her own book when she goes to college. I could have used less of Stella. She was completely over the top. Dottie was already one of my favorites, but I loved her even more in this book.
I was most disappointed by the request Lee made of River. This would effect a major plot point that has been present from the first book. I had been looking forward to seeing how it would play out.
Overall, a great read and I look forward to finding out what happens next with these siblings.

  • P.J.

Getting Lucky, the third installment in the Asheville Brewing series, is my favorite so far. Jack Durand, the half Buchanan brother, is running the brewery they inherited with two of his half sisters. His life prior to joining them isn't discussed much (since he just met his siblings) in the previous installments so it was fun to learn what had been going on and why he kept leaving Asheville. He is moving his little sister, Iris, to Asheville to get her away from their mother. Maisie is one of River's best friends who has had a crush on River for YEARS. She is trying to get over it as River is marrying Jack's half sister Georgie. Before Iris moves, Jack and Maisie have a one night stand but find they have a major attraction to each other. Jack doesn't want to get in a relationship because he's had relationships fail due to putting his sister first. And Maisie is getting over her feelings for River and not ready to get into a relationship. Jack and Maisie are both going to be in the wedding so ignoring their attraction isn't easy.

I've been curious about Jack since the series started and adored his relationship with his sister. Maisie's personality shines in this book and it was great to get to know her as more than River's friend with a school girl crush. Maisie's relationship with Iris was also awesome - she is the main one to get past Iris' teenage angst. This book also made a lot of progress with Prescott, the Buchanan father and having Lee, the other brother, be more than a guy on video chat. I'm excited about the next book, which focuses on Lee and Blue, an artist we met in #2! I'm just hoping that Maisie's sister Molly and Iris get their own editions....

Once again, I have come into a series late, but I enjoyed the book all the same. However, my TBR list just got two new additions. Getting Lucky is the third in the Asheville Brewing series. Being from NC, of course, I was going to want to read this, and in the first couple of chapters, Jack was driving to Charlotte, so I was quite happy. Plus, double-love, Maisie has a corgi named Einstein (I have a stubborn corgi and a physics-majoring daughter). From there, the story could only get better.

There is a complex dynamic going on in this patchwork family of Buchanans. Their father (legitimate and otherwise) is not a nice guy, and there are years of dynamics these siblings are working through throughout this series. I like that aspect of the book; although there is a HEA, not everything is tied up neatly at the end. And as you read, you can see characters working through issues with family members.

Maisie and Jack, once they get past their self-built walls, are perfect together. Their humor and personalities blend so well. They each have issues, but they come to the realization they are better together. In fact, one of Maisie's most immense "walls" was overcome by her Christmas present to Jack, which honestly brought tears to my eyes. Their romance peppered with humor and witty banter was still so very sweet. They both deserved this so much.

I did love all the extra characters. Their quirkiness (Jack's sister referred to Asheville as "hippie", I would have to agree) make for some hilarious situations involving painting and animals. You can read this alone or read the series; either way, this is a beautiful story.

Just one night, that was the deal Maisie and Jack agree upon before going to her house; this is because she has way too many hang-ups about her life and Jack is way too busy with his little sister moving to Asheville with him.

I have feelings about this book, first, I feel like this series is just getting better with each book which is awesome but I would have loved some smut because the story just demands it. Let's be real here, we have Maisie backstory about being in love with River but she wants to get laid, a scene about the affair would give a lot in terms of feelings about each other and would have easily cut down Maisie and Jack's ramblings, I personally prefer to see some feelings in action instead of just reading minds over and over and over again.

Also... I have to say this again... I just can't stand Georgie and River I just hate them both so much, I would have given 5 stars to this book if they didn't appear at all or at least wouldn't meddle unnecessarily, also that minor plot was not required at all to move the story along, to me it felt like they just wanted to give Georgie and River their 10 minutes of fame inside this book which bothered me A LOT. They already had their book!! Let's move on!

Still, I'm super sad for Lee. I kind of called it from the very beginning, since that scene at the will reading, but still, it was a really well-executed reveal. I can't really wait to read his book. I feel like they're going to be more passionate and explosive than Jack and Maisie and even Finn and Addy. I really recommend this book.

I've been anxious to get my hands on this story ever since I finished the last book in the series, and it turned out to be even better than I had hoped. Main characters Maisie O'Shea and Jack Durand had fantastic chemistry, and it was tough to watch them fight their feelings for so long. They each had some things they needed to work through on their own, however, so their reasons for waiting to start a relationship were understandable. I found it very easy to root for them to overcome those obstacles so that they could be together.

The book's secondary characters were every bit as much fun here as they were in the previous books of the series, particularly Aunt Dottie, who was as lovable and quirky as ever. I also enjoyed Jack's half-sister Iris, who was a good kid despite experiencing some growing pains as she attempted to navigate the challenges of young adulthood and complex relationships with her brother and his newfound Buchanan half-siblings. Speaking of the Buchanans, Jack's half-brother Lee had quite a shock at the end of this book and it seemed to open his eyes to the fact that he needed to make some changes in his life. He's been kind of a jerk up to this point, so it will be very interesting to see how the authors plan to redeem him when he's paired up with Maisie's friend Blue in the next book.

Overall, I adored "Getting Lucky" and highly recommend this laugh-out-loud funny, sweet, and heartwarming story for all fans of contemporary romance and romantic comedy. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book of the series.
