How hard can it be?

That was the question rolling around Larissa Mason’s mind just before she asked Hollis Hudson to be her fake boyfriend.
It was only supposed to be for five minutes, after all.

Granted, that was also before she felt his hand on the small of her back as he charmed the heck out of her family.
She hadn’t heard his laugh yet either.

And it was definitely before she saw the football god shirtless. Otherwise, she would’ve had an idea of just how hard some things could be.

It turns out that pretending to be in love with a crazily handsome, somewhat enigmatic, and absolutely unforgettable tight end (that has an amazing tight end) is easy.

Reminding herself that just because opposites attract doesn’t mean they’re forever is much harder.

What they have isn’t love—it’s a relationship pact. Right?

The Relationship Pact (Kings of Football, #3) Reviews

just a genuinely well written and fantastic romance. balanced steam with emotion perfectly and contrary to some other reviewers, this didn't feel insta-lovey to me. the romance does take place over a short period of time but there was enough vulnerability between hero and heroine to make it extremely believable to me. this won't win awards for most original plot line ever but i don't really care. 5 stars.

    “You’re one of mine now.”

The Relationship Pact is the third book in the ‘Kings of Football’ series, and let me tell you- they saved the best for last! I loved this book! It’s definitely my new favorite Adriana Locke book!

Hollis Hudson meets Larissa Mason randomly and she asks him to be her fake boyfriend for just five minutes. In those five minutes, there is a spark and connection between them and while Hudson is in town for an awards ceremony of sorts, Larissa and Hudson go on a few more dates as each others ‘fake’ boyfriend/girlfriend.

This is one of my favorite fake dating book. It was so dang sweet, had the perfect amount of emotion, and was just such a good time reading. It was paced perfectly and I loved both of the main characters. Hudson, specifically… gah! His story broke my heart at times, and I cried happy tears at the end.

If you’re a fan of Locke’s ‘Mason’ or ‘Landry’ series you’ll definitely see some familiar faces which is fun! If you’re looking for a sports romance/fake dating story with a whole lot of heart, pick up The Relationship Pact!

victory is so much sweeter when you have to work for it
    Wow!
This is the perfect conclusion for an amazing series with amazing characters.
I don’t even know what to say , I’m speechless.
This story brought me on a roller coaster of no ending emotions .
    Hollis was definitely something else.
His past wasn’t surely an happy one. And it all came together in very big trust and abandonment issues.
His friendship and chat texts with Crew and River were so funny and showed how strong their bond was even if they were miles away.
A fake relationship , a sexy football player with more than one talent and a girl who swore off athletes, it’s the perfect mix for an interesting story you won’t surely regret!
The chemistry between Hollis and Riss was explosive, it was meant to be since their first meeting. Their journey wasn’t easy , but it was full of funny , sweet and also very deep moments.

she could see my pain and wanted to be my balm

I loved every page of it.
It was a real page turner.
    I gave it 4 stars
I hope you’ll enjoy it like I did
    Enjoy!

“Every door that has closed on you wasn’t your door.”

I’m so happy Larissa got a book, because I really thought she was fun in Restraint. While that book was hot and sweet, it didn’t hit me as hard as this one. TRP follows Hollis from and Larissa. They are meant to just be each other’s fake dates to get through some awkward dinners and parties, but of course these two hit it off. Hollis’s back story and trauma made me so emotional, and just takes this story to a level I wasn’t expecting. Other than that it’s just a sweet, fun, and relatively quick read!

The Relationship Pact is the thirst and final installment of the multi-author series, Kings of Football. This story can be read as a complete standalone though and Adriana Locke actually included a lot of cameo's from her own past characters which I absolutely loved.

Hollis Hudson gave me all the feels and I adored his character. He may of had the abs of a god but under the good looks he was a vulnerable man still reeling from the lonely childhood he had after being passed around from family, to foster care, and then left to go his own way. I really enjoyed that we got to see all of his insecurities and I thought the character development we saw throughout the book was amazing.

Larissa Mason is horrible at picking which guys to date but with Hollis it's just pact and then they'll both move on. Or at least that was the plan before feelings got involved. And oh boy were there feelings. Sweet, hot, adorable, Larissa and Hollis had it all and I was not disappointed at their story at all. It wasn't easy for Hollis to accept that Larissa was more than a relationship pact but they both really stepped up when it was needed and I fell for them hard.

Adriana has done it again! I absolutely loved Hollis and Larissa. I couldn't put their story down. There connection was totally instant and Hollis you discover doesn't make friends easily he is cautious after being let down by some people when he was younger. I loved Hollis, he had that vulnerability to him that you kinda don't expect and I loved Larissa, she totally knew what she wanted and didn't want! I laughed so much when she found out he was a football player! I loved seeing glimpses of her family and I can't wait to see more of her cousins, oh and her BFF Bellamy! Everyone needs a friend like Bellamy. Other highlights for me were Judy who was a fantastic character and special mention to one Mr Lincoln Landry! Every book should have a Lincoln appearance! One of my favorite books of 2020!

    Hollis. Hudson. Is. Mine.

This book just hits different. It's the same brilliant writing you expect from Adriana Locke, but somehow Hollis and Larissa are just... different. They're fun, they're light hearted, they're hot together, but there is an underlying level of angst, of mistrust, of emotion that drags you in, pulls you under, and doesn't release you until you've reached 'The End'.

This one had me in tears multiple times, and had me laughing, rooting for our couple, and even wanting to smack some peeps upside the head a few times too.

I highly recommend you read this book ASAP! It's one I can guarantee you won't regret picking up!

It’s been ages since I’ve read a book by Adriana Locke and having read The relationship Pact, I’m wondering why I stopped reading her books.

I’ve really been enjoying the Kings of Football series and The Relationship Pact was the pièce de résistance because I adored Larissa and Hollis!
I do love a fake-relationship plot line! Why? Because the chemistry and banter always makes for an entertaining read. You can feel the tension in the air!

The Relationship Pact by Adriana Locke is beyond entertaining and loveable, It has also sweet, angsty and has really good chemistry.

One of my favorite genres is college sports romance and this one didn't disappoint.

Larissa & Hollis are strangers who happen to be in the right place at the right time. Hollis ends up pretending to be Larissa's date to throw off her ex.

I enjoyed how their relationship grew and developed. Hollis is a more complex guy than just a sports jock and his need to feel worthy of love really played out in the pages.

I know I said this in The Revenge Pact but I'm saying it again. I'm not sure what this style of series is called but I really love the concept - 3 interconnected books written by 3 different authors. This is my first series like this but I hope to find more done in this format.

i have heard so many good things about this book, but im so confused. did i read a different book??

i think i might be burnt out on fake dating and sports romances which may have hindered my enjoyment, but this felt rushed and contrived. i also don't really like romances that take place over such a short time period because i never feel like there is enough time to develop the relationship. overall, this was not it for me

  • Andrea Fleury

What a great story. I love this book and author. This is my first book by Adriana. Sports romances are my favorite as well. I don't want to give too much away. Just read this series n this book is the third of 3. A wonderful series

I have always been adamant about the fact that "Written In The Scars" was Addy's best book ever, but Hollis has officially taken first rank in my heart. I seriously could not love this man enough!! His backstory just broke my heart, and I wanted so badly to be able to hug this hunky football player and let him know how loved he is. Oh my goodness, I adore him!

So Hollis has been invited to accept an award by Lincoln Landry (he always finds a way to pop up, doesn't he?!😂) and since it's around the holidays, he figures he's just going to stay holed up in his hotel room missing his best buddies (River & Crew!) Then he meets the beautiful blonde that steals his breath and his heart.

Larissa has terrible luck with men, well, with self absored athletes who appreciate their reflection more than they do the women in their lives. After officially swearing off athletes, she runs into Hollis and easily convinces him to be her pretend boyfriend for a few minutes, and the magic that swirls around them is so damn potent that I felt like I was experiencing it first hand. These two have some amazing chemistry, and right away you can just tell how much they care for each other. When they both need dates to their respective functions, they agree to continue the ruse of being in a relationship, and it's not long that these two are inseparable. And their love?! Oh my gosh. It does happen quickly, especially compared to the first books in the series who are definite slow burns, but that doesn't make it less real. You just know these two are meant to be!!

I can't say enough how much I love Hollis. From the beginning I was completely head over heels for him, and my love for him only grew with every page. Larissa is by far one of the best heroines I've read in a while too! She was so down to earth, so hilarious and true, sensitive and beautiful, and I adored her relationship with Bellamy and all her cousins!!

And how can I end this review without mention Grandma Judy?! Oh my gosh. That woman didn't hesitate to take Hollis under wing, even when he fought her love at first. But their relationship was just so beautiful! And I loved how hilarious she was! Everyone needs a Judy in their lives!

It's truly been a dream to have three of my favorite authors come together and write such an amazing series! I loved each one of these books, and I hope that one day these amazing ladies will reunite with one another! I can't stress enough how absolutely amazing these books are! They are definitely must reads!!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**

  • Julia Phillips

I absolutely love Adriana Locke’s writing. She is an incredible storyteller and this book did not disappoint. This is book three in the Kings of Football series which is comprised of three different books from three different authors. All three can be read as complete standalones, but I highly recommend all three. This one, however, is going to stick with me for a while. I promise it will steal your heart too.

Hollis and Larissa’s story is a beautiful one. Hollis is an amazing person who has gone through so much. He’s perfect on the outside but on the inside (cue the tears) he is so broken and filled with self-doubt. I just wanted to hug him. Throughout this book he struggles to know is worth, but Larissa and so many other characters in this story are there to support him and help him see he is worthy.

As for Larissa, she is such a loveable character. What starts off in a fun meet-cute moment quickly turns to something much deeper. She knew just what to do to help Hollis. She was beautiful, sweet, loving and accepting. Everything Hollis deserved. Watching their love story unfold was so much deeper than I expected. Don’t worry though, this book has lots of fun moments too.

Without giving too much away this is what I will say about the book… If you are looking for a beautiful NA contemporary romance story, that has a lot of fun yet still some deep moments, with a story that will leave you turning the pages just to see what happens, and the perfect HEA, this is for you.

Also, Adriana Locke, if your listening 😉, I hope to see Hollis and Larissa in future books. I just need to see what their life has beyond your last epilogue. You truly create the best characters and storylines! xoxo

    Something wild but stable

Any time I sit down to read this author I know the book will lighten my day. I know I know, some of you that have read her books are thinking, this woman can make you cry like no other BUT we're all better for it and you know it!

Okay, let's get to the story. I don't want to go into too much detail because you need to read this book!!! Hollis Hudson holds a little piece of my heart, this man has been through so much but is a bleeding heart worth so much. Larissa wants that once in a lifetime love she's witnessed, even though she keeps finding the toads. These two together are a breath of fresh air. What steals your heart in this book are all the little moments: a hand held, a surprise kiss, a claiming touch, a spanking granny, a table full of "family". That's what makes this book and relationship special, the everyday joys so many people take for granted are what make you fall in love with Larissa and Hollis. We're at our best when we find that person that gives us strength, calms our soul, and breathes life into every day. Special to the core they both are!!!

Can I just say that Bellamy was a riot and I cannot wait for the explosion that is to be her and Coy in Reputation!!!! If you need a good dose of the Landry and Mason family, have a seat and open it up because Larissa and Hollis make you feel at home.

I’m sort of having a little “reviewer’s block” for whatever reason, so this’ll be kinda short.

I suppose this may not technically be a Masons book officially since Larissa is a cousin & not a sibling, but as far as I’m concerned AL is two for two with the Masons in Restraint & now tRP. Cause I’m definitely hooked on the Masons. Despite tRP’s timeline not actually being that long from their meet-cute til the end, it didn’t feel that way. The way AL paced the built up to giving the feels as well as Hollis & Larissa’s connection felt fairly natural & believable considering. I thought she also did a great job laying the groundwork for Bellamy(Larissa’s BFF) as the heroine in the official 2nd Masons book, Reputation.

    That’s it 🤷‍♀️ lol.

An epic bromance coupled with a strangers to lovers, fake boyfriend romance that will give your feels the feels! Hollis and Larissa are couple goals. Everybody wants hot friends like Crew, Hollis and River.

Hollis is the good time guy. He’s all about the fun but it’s all to mask the pain. No real relationships other than his best buds, River and Crew. They are the only two he trusts. They’re his only family. Everyone else leaves.

Hollis is in Savannah to get an award for time he dedicated to charity. He’s decided to spend his Christmas break there, get his award, and then head back to school for his final semester. It’s time to decide his future whether it be football or something else.

Sitting in a small town bar is going to change his life. When a beautiful girl approaches him and asks him to pretend to be her fake boyfriend, for just a few minutes, to drive off an unwanted ex. He can’t resist because their chemistry immediate.

She’s sworn off men, so it’s only a temporary lapse. They both have built walls, but together they are about to crush them. He’s never had a relationship and has a tendency to leave before he gets left. She wanted to be alone until she realized better was out there and she finally found it.

A sweet romance with a great small town vibe. Everyone feels like family. The banter among Crew, Hollis and River balanced the poignant with the hunor perfectly. You definitelt felt the love. Larissa was sunshine and fun! She opened his eyes to happiness and love. Hollis was resilient, but struggling. He just needed a little help to find his way.

This story was so much more than I expected in the best of ways. All these characters were easy to love. A story of finding where you belong and the love of family you choose. I wouldn’t mind Bellamy and Coy’s story or watching Boone find his better half. I am hoping for more. A perfect addition to this series.

The Relationship Pact is the great combination of heart-warming, scorching and funny.

There are many reasons to love this book, but the main one is Hollis Hudson. Hollis easygoing and charming manner, his flirtatiousness but also the hurt and shame he tries to hide behind his carefree demeanor add up to a fascinating, utterly endearing male lead. His relationship with Larissa, despite the occasional bumps is genuine, infused with cute times.
All in all, this book was so good and I will definitely read more Adriana Locke books.

‘She’s a chance encounter. Temporary. The perfect solution to an imperfect situation.’

Adriana Locke finished this series of standalones -about three best mates, River, Crew and Hollis- off with a bang. The Relationship Pact was such a fabulous read. It had great humour, we still crack up over the three blokes group texts. It had such depth of emotion and introspection. It was incredibly sweet at times and had genuine moments where tears rolled down our faces. What a wonderful series this has been. A special mention goes out to Pops from The Romantic Pact and Grandma Judy in The Relationship Pact, they made us cry and our hearts fit to burst! Between Ilsa Madden-Mills, Meghan Quinn and Adriana Locke, we were kept riveted, entertained and ultimately we fell in book love. The best feeling in the world.

‘Anyone that has ever known anything about my life’s history has done one thing of two things – pitied me or judged me. It just depends on how much they know.’

Hollis is such a wonderfully written character. Hiding behind a ‘life of the party’ façade, a player status, he shields his past of where he came from, who he is and his feelings of insecurity. A man who believes himself incapable of being loved with heavy abandonment issues will never feel safe in a relationship. The chemistry between Hollis and Larissa was palpable from the first page till the last. Hollis has a vulnerability and sweet romantic side to him underneath all the bravado, a side brought to the surface by the wonderful Larissa. From a cheeky friendship and fake relationship pact grew healing and a fierce and passionate love.

“I’m not the guy that people keep around. And that’s cool. I’ve accepted it by myself. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt like a motherfucker…You wonder if everyone is looking at you – like can they see the stain on your soul?”

This is a series where the women are fierce, strong and emotionally powerful. They know what they want, they’re compassionate, with big hearts and so much love to offer. The men are all fighting their own demons and circumstances which come to a head in their last football season leaving them standing at a crossroads in their lives. Important messages of family, friendship, loyalty and never judging a book by its cover are prevalent in this series. The chemistry was scorching, the banter on point and the depth of their characters’ stories passionate and emotional.

“I wanted someone to look at me like I was the most important thing in the world to him. That would tell the whole universe that I was his girl. That’s all. I didn’t want money or cars or fame. I just wanted to find my best friend and to create a beautiful corner of the world just for us.”

A pleasant new adult story about fate, kindness and love

Heroine: Larissa Mason is a loving soul who’s been disillusioned one time too many and is ready to give up on love. She’s especially reluctant to date athletes.

Hero: Star football player, Hollis Hudson is a man of many talents. He has wonderful abs, is good at football, he has musical aptitudes and is smooth with women. But underneath all the swagger, lays a vulnerable, closed off man who believes he’s unloveable.

Plot: Larissa and Hollis meet at a bar and in less than five minutes they’re bargaining a relationship pact where they help each other out pretending to be dating while Hollis is in town. As they find reasons to help each other out and spend time together, their connection grows.

Feels: Even though Hollis and Larissa meet and fall in love in the span of week, their chemistry is tangible and they’re perfect for one another. She pushes him to open up with her genuine interest in getting to know him.

The secondary characters not only help Hollis and Larissa in their relationship but also lend so much in the feels department. I LOVED Judy, Hollis’ adopted grandma and Bellamy, Larissa’s BFF, provided so much entertainment.

Facts: The Relationship Pact is a standalone romance by Adriana Locke. It’s book #3 of the Kings of Football series. It is told from both points of view, and has a happy ending. Sub-genres: Insta-love | College Football

    Ah what an amazing book!

I haven’t read many books from this author but oh my gosh this book was amazing!

Hollis and Larissa will give you ALL the feels and you’ll love every single second of it.

Larissa is beautiful, insanely smart and full of fun. has sworn off of men, she has walls up.

Hollis is a good guy, a charitable guy. The kind of guy who likes to have fun but deep down underneath all the fun there’s a guy full of pain. A guy who only has his two best friends in his life that he can trust, everyone else leaves at some point.

After an introduction in a bar with a random beautiful girl he can’t help say yes when she asks him to pretend to be her boyfriend.

The chemistry between these two was instant and after spending some time together we get see just how bright that spark between them is. The more time they spend together, the more they open up and it was beautiful to watch. Their relationship wasn’t perfect, there were curves but every great love story has them.

Let’s not forget the banter too, the banter in this book was so much fun, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at times, it got me some stares from random people but who cares lol.

This story was the perfect addition to this series. Every single character was easy to love and just buried their way into your heart, I love them, I love them all.

The Relationship pact was a fun, cute romance. A beautiful story that’ll capture your attention from the get go.

I cannot begin to tell you the amount of swooning I did over this story. Every single person in this story made me swoon.

These.Three.Men!!, I did not see them coming and I definitely was blindsided by Hollis! And Larissa, who doesn’t want to be her??? Better yet, her friend! I want to bottle the both of them and keep them all for myself! My heart and soul are super happy right now thinking about the journey I read and the future these two will have. When that happens, when days after you’ve finished a book you’re still just smiling and imagining what beautiful lives they must be living, it’s an anomaly. That doesn’t happen often, and I love that it’s happening with Hollis and Larissa.

This story rode the line of sexy flirty and emotional heart wrench like a champ. Mad props to Adriana for keeping the story on the tightrope, never veering too far either way. I think that’s my favorite part of this story. The ease in which I felt invested in their HEA and also a part of the story. I wasn’t even twitchy when they inner monologued and that always makes me twitchy! And again, it’s the author. This chic made sure the inner monologue sucked you in just like the banter and the sexy and the fun and just all of it. I don’t like to play favorites *cough* lie *cough*, but I mean if I did ….

    5+ ”.. don’t block your blessings..” STARS!!

It was good, but it wasn't great. The first two books in this multi-author series set the bar VERY high, and unfortunately this just wasn't at the same level. I liked it, and the chemistry was sizzling, but it was lacking the same depth of emotion that the other two had. This couple goes from fake to casual to instalove in the blink of an eye, and I guess I just wasn't moving at the same pace they were. Hollis makes a great hero and there was a ton of potential with his backstory, but we'd only just begun to scratch the surface before this was over. It feels a little incomplete, and honestly seemed more like part of the Mason family series than the Kings of Football. That's a lot of negatives, I get it. But it also has Locke's very solid writing style, great chemistry, and a playfulness that makes it a quick, fun read.

The story follows Hollis, the broody playboy of our trio of disgraced football players. When Hollis meets Larissa, they go from zero to sixty in a matter of seconds - accelerating from strangers to being in a fake relationship immediately. Things keep moving fast, and Hollis soon finds himself opening up to Larissa in a way he never has with anyone else. He's used to being on his own, and Larissa's the kind of girl that can't help but dig a little deeper. Though she's sworn off athletes, it's not long before Larissa realizes she's in trouble with Hollis. But they were only supposed to be fake, and anything more might send him running.

While I found this to be disappointing overall, it's still got so many things that I love about Locke's writing, from the complex, lovable hero to the easy banter and chemistry. It's easy to see the connection between these two, and I loved that Larissa was able to bring Hollis out of his comfort zone. The pacing just felt weird to me. These two actually spend a significant amount of time away from each other, and there's a decent amount of time spent on the Masons (as well as a few appearances by Lincoln Landry). As someone who has read many of Locke's books, I was able to keep track - but anyone reading her work for the first time via this series is likely to get lost. We do get more of River and Crew, which was a definite plus, but that's also more people to keep track of and more time that's not focused on our couple. All in all, I expected to like this more, it's as simple as that. It's still a solid read, but isn't one of my favorites from the author, and ultimately sits somewhere between 3 and 4 stars for me. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this light, sexy romance.

"The Relationship Pact" is a standalone novel of the 'kings of football' series by the three bestselling authors Ilsa madden mills , Adriana Locke and Meghan Quinn. Told in dual perspectives , this is Hollis's Story.!!

From the moment I read about Hollis in the first two books of this series , I knew that he was going to be my favourite! His quirky sense of humour and the way he communicated was just too funny for me, not to mention he was smokin hot! Larrisa was his perfect match in every way! She was the girl who stayed away from players and athletes, but there was something about Hollis that made her stay with him. Both of them liked each other and enjoyed each other's company so they formed a pact for a fake relationship so that they could go to their family events without any repercussions.

What started as a fake relationship soon transformed into a real one and staying away from one and other became very tough! But Hollis had issues related to relationships. His demons won't let him be serious with Larissa when that was all she wanted. Soon they both had a lot to question and a lot of sacrifices to make for them to be together.

This one was a light read for me! It has that sense of humour which I enjoyed a lot and it certainly made this book special for me. There were no major twists and turns in the book and it was a plain contemporary romance but compelling nonetheless! A definite recommendation to all the contemporary romance lovers out there!

Oh my word - am I ever glad I picked this book up!

Hollis and Larissa were absolutely adorable. I bought into their chemistry right away. Their relationship moves really fast, but there were only a few eyebrow raises from me. That is, I felt like the nature of their connection rang true for me. I loved their banter, their sizzling physical chemistry, and their sweet emotional connection. The fact that they caught feelings so quickly wasn't a problem for me because, frankly, I caught feelings for them just as fast.

I do feel like the emotional baggage that they both carried resolved rather conveniently. At times it felt perhaps a little too neat. But I did enjoy their story a lot. Hollis was a complete surprise for me and I loved the way his story tugged at my heartstrings. I loved how Larissa drew him out of his shell and how she lit up his inner alpha. They were a perfect match, and so much fun to read!

But if I'm being honest - the real treat was the cameo appearances. I loved getting time with beloved characters from Adriana Locke's other series (and what an absolutely perfect lead-up for the next Mason Family book). The way Ms. Locke brought everything (and everyone) together in this effortlessly orchestrated way that made my heart so happy.

This is a true standalone. I only knew pieces of the other stories going into this one, and I had no problem connecting or understanding what was going on at all. It was a quick, easy, emotionally satisfying read and I really am so happy for the time I got to spend with them! ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

“You sort of fell into my life right when I needed you.”

I did not see this coming!!!! This is probably one of my top 5 favorite books of 2020, I need this story in every available format. I can’t even write properly what this book made me feel...I cried, I laughed, I swooned, and I want more!!!

An amazing end to an amazing series, Adriana Locke created the perfect book; a broken hero, a strong heroine; the drama, the romance, the chasing, the angst it is all worth it. This is one of those books you’ll want to re-read anytime you feel like falling in love.

This is a romance where the main character steals completely the spotlight, Hollis is just perfect, he’s the broken alpha that just needed to be needed; and Larissa needs him in every possible way; even if it all started as a pact, sometimes you can’t change fate and you end up just in the right place at the right time… you just need to be open to new possibilities.

So here goes nothing...dear Adriana Locke; you just gained yourself an intense fan that is going to devour your books and probably, -like for sure- ask for more and more until you’ll get sick of seeing my name on your notifications, sorry in advance...

The beginning and their banters have won the brownie points!
Characters were amazing. Character development was great too.
Plotting was different. Adriana Locke knows how to create the whole who' who web in her books. As a reader who's not read most of her books, I didn't really feel lost in that web though. She has a way to explain all the relations in a good way.

Story was fast paced. The ending came too quick. Before the climax (last couple of chapters) the story continued to look like it's still in the beginning stages.

However, the writing style of Adriana Locke is quite average. It could have been a bit better.
