Forsaken Dream (Forsaken Destiny, #1) Reviews
-
FORSAKEN DREAM is the first book in the Forsaken Destiny series and we start off with Echo. She is a Seelie Princess with a betrothed she has no interest in. Plus, she doesn't want to be puppet her father wants her to be. So she leaves and hides in the human realm. Sixty years later, trouble arrives in the form of three mates...
Echo is exactly the kind of female you expect from a Maya Daniels novel. She is strong and feisty, certainly not the kind of female to just accept and obey. Out of the three males, Tyler is my favourite so far. There is something so endearing about the 'Hulk'. Only trouble is, I couldn't pick him out of the book cover! Still, the three males are working out nicely together but a spanner was thrown in the works right at the end. I can't say it was a surprise but I look forward to seeing how it all works out.
This was a great start to a new series with a small cast of characters that I look forward to reading about. Definitely recommended by me.

First RH that I've given 5 stars to!
This was such a refreshing version of a RH, I loved that its not a girl who can't decide which guy she wants, and goes back and forth til the guys are like, "we'll share!"
Echo is smart, she holds her own and yeah she's just found out that she's got 3 mates but that doesn't mean she's just going to roll over - nope they still gotta prove themselves and she'll prove herself too.
Of course when she finds out that her 4th is the same person that shes been hiding from, that she was promises to - well he definitely ain't getting an easy ride, mate or no mate!
Such great characters and world building, cant wait for the next book! -
Maya Daniels is writing in a new genre of RH to expand her writing talents. This is the first book in a brand-new series. Once again, Ms. Daniels proves why she won an acclaimed author award. I love how she starts this book by giving us an introduction to the five main characters and the subtle nuances of backgrounds and powers. She does not just jump in gung-ho on the intimate scenes, she gives us these introductions to show us how the characters will develop with each new book in the series! Echo Darkwing is a Seelie Princess who has escaped her prison and arranged marriage to the Unseelie Prince. She has lived in the human realm for 60 years…and who was her human protector, really? She owns a farm and the neighbor is trying to take it from her. One day she is accosted by a large male who is bloodied and ravaged. She takes him in to care for him. Two others also climb out of the woodwork making fanatical claims. Seems they are supes and her mates! Only, there is a 4th! When they discover who it is, everything will change...but to what end? Choices will have to be made and they will have to be ready to battle...will she forsake their claims dooming them to death? I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.

Over this same storyline I can't seem to get away from
I couldn't finish this book, made it to about chapter 14 before I just lost interest all together. I think I'm just so tired of this same song and dance, nothing new here. supposedly strong fae runs away from abusive parents, doesn't want to marry bad guy shes heard about. Hiding now in the human realm, meets mates but seems to be a complete idiot about it. Hiding things and secrets on both sides. Hysterical laughter, jumping at every sound, being annoying! Has intimate moment with demon, finds about his a incubus, freaks out and feels betrayed. I'm just so over these same books, same predictable b.s, and it's just not enjoyable anymore. -
This is the first book for this author in this genre. And I loved it. It is not the standard Reverse Harem book. It is not that wham-bam thank-you-ma'am , like a lot of these books are. You get the stories on all the character's. What and who they are. Echo is a fantastic character. She takes no crap, she is strong and sassy. And she has more power than even she knows. She ran from her realm and her crazy father. And Proto her familiar is crazy lol He is so funny and also causes so many problems but he will make you laugh. The 3 guys who are her mates are amazing. You have a Archangel a Demon and a shifter. I like them all, she does give them heck but they will love her and protect her with their lives. At the end of the book you meet her 4th. mate. And I am not sure how I feel about him. I think he will be a lot of trouble. This book is just amazing and I highly recommend it!!

I really enjoyed this book. It has set the scene for what is going to be a great series. I love all the characters.. Echo is funny, strong and knows she has her hands full with these guys. She is amazed as Fae usually only have one mate and they are lucky to find them. She has found 3.. well 4! And more like they found her! A very different bunch of men. I loved reading their banter/bickering. They all need to learn to live with each other, which should prove interesting to read! Looking forward to reading how their dynamics work and how they work together.. especially now they have found the 4th mate. He will really mix things up!
I received a copy of this book, in return for an honest review. -
Echo runs from an unsavory arranged marriage, only to learn she has four fated mates! Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Her father and familiar seem to have plans of their own regarding Echo. How all these factions plans for Echo are revealed keep the book moving and very suspenseful. Looking forward to the rest of the story.

Loved it
I love Echo I can’t wait to see what she can do and how the guys help her out. I’m excited to read more. -
A great start to a new series and genre for Maya Daniels. She has shown her exceptional skills as an author as she stretches her wings and expands her abilities across genres showing what excellent stories she can weave. This book will entice you with its great characters and storyline.

The banter between the mates while trying to convince Echo she is their fated had me laughing. 3 of the 4 are willing to get along for Echo's happiness. As for the 4th, well, all bets are off. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Good start
I liked Echo and the guys. They seem to have good chemistry and they were protective and sweet despite the circumstances. There’s a lot of uncertainty regarding Echo’s father and I’m intrigued by how the fourth man will play into all of this.
An interesting and intriguing start to this series. -
***SPOILER***
Echo is the heir to the Seelie court. Her father has arranged her marriage to the Unseelie Prince. To escape her future married to someone she doesn't love and the puppet of her father, Echo escapes to the human realm. She's able to hide there for 60 years until three of four of her mates find her. Her mates: Vaser (demon incubus), Tyler (shifter gargoyle), and Angelo (Archangel). The book ends with her fourth mate, the Unseelie Prince finding her and wanting her to come back to the Fae realm so that they can rule both courts together. She refuses to leave and states if he wants the mate bond, he has to abdicate the throne and stay with her in the human realm.
This was a quick read that sets up the relationship between the main character and her three mates. I suspect the action will really amp up in the next book with the tension from her fourth mate and her cruel father who must be after her too. -
I kept expecting something more
It wasn't bad and it was well written.
But it felt like it was missing something.
An Incubus , A Gargoyle, & An archangel drop into your house. What are you to do?
This felt like a very quick read. Echo goes from escaping her Father the Seelie King, to running the land & stand her dear friend left her, to finally stumble into fated mates. And what a sense of humor they have.
Tyler seems to be this tortured soul who already knows his fate if he doesn't find his mate before he's 500. Lucky number 500 💀 And boy his temler flares at anything.
Angelo seems to have a good head on his shoulders even though Vaser starts out as the brains of a duo. Hes the one to realize once he knows her secret that she isn't just Echo, but a Princess.
Vaser is such a smooth talker. and unafraid to take the lead when needed until he's in the doghouse.
Xzavier is just a Prince. Stuck with a choice to make before he can move forward.
As much as this was a foundation for the series, it felt like something was missing. We know there are tons of secrets. She was hidden, she was helped. Some people seemed to have known what she would need and when. A seer sending her mates to meet and meet her. And while that mystery kept me reading it still ended feeling like there were holes. I enjoyed that even though its fated mates there isn't a rush, although she ends up sick without them. I hope the next book is better. there are enough mysteries that I will wait for it. -
Soooo yeah (spoilers included)
I don’t know how I feel about this book. I don’t like the fmc very much.
She was very immature for a few centuries old person. She appears to care about her people but not enough to actually help them. Okay fine whatever.
Her only plan was to leave and live her life. Okay fine whatever.
She doesn’t make any plans to at least develop herself and learn how to properly protect herself within 60 yrs of undisturbed time she has when she escaped from her realm. Okay fine whatever.
I really don’t like that at the end she gives her 4th mate an ultimatum. We get no explanation of the conversation that brought this ultimatum about. The last chapter is rushed craziness that was confusing. Lastly the familiar should die. A way should found to either make him useful or safely kill him off. -
Forsaken Dream by Maya Daniels is Book 1 in the Forsaken Destiny series. This is an awesome story that I loved reading, did not not want to put down, and am anxiously waiting for more. Echo Darkwing (MFC) is strong, smart, sassy, and funny. She has run away to the human world to escape from her father the Seelie King's plans for her. Here she makes a life for herself and meets three fated mates (an incubus, a gargoyle, and an archangel) with a fourth near the end of the book. Echo's familiar Proto is fantastic and a little bit crazy who is funny but causes many problems (just love him). Highly recommend this book. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.

Forsaken Dream: A Paranormal Reverse Harem Romance (Forsaken Destiny Book 1) by Maya Daniels is a wonderfully amazing story that I have loved reading. This is book number one in this start to a brand new wonderfully amazing series that I am so hooked on and can not wait to read the rest. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about Archangel, Demon, shifter, reverse harem and paranormal romance.
I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review. -
Maya Daniels first in a series Reverse Harem book is a delight. A strong female lead who doesn’t cow down to anyone and is positive about what she wants. This mixed with a magical environment is a recipe for a successful book. I recommend this book and anything written by Maya Daniels as they are always a good read.

I liked it!! It was very entertaining. The heroine was strong and sassy. I would have liked the pace of the story not to be so fast. I expect the heroine to learn more about her mates interests and characters in the next books and i hope for the fourth mate to redeem himself.
It was a good summer read for me and i'll read the next books in this series. -
Pretty good overall even if the ending was a little hard to swallow. The characters are interesting and the world building was pretty good. It could use something to really put it over the top but I’ll definitely be reading the second book to follow through.

Ok
This book was ok. It reads fast but, the characters are a little slow. They need more depth. While I enjoyed this book, I am not in a rush to read more. -
Good start
First book I've read from this author and I am excited to read more. Hoping these men do the right thing by our lady! -
