Soul Bound (The White Wolf Prophecy #2) Reviews

With every book, I’m falling more and more in love with Kayleigh King’s shifter world. The mystery, the magic, the sweet and sassy romances- these are the kinds of stories that sweep you away to a world different yet familiar, stories you get lost inside of because of both the intrigue and charm. Our first book was a great debut, but THIS, this is showing us just what Kayleigh King is capable of- delivering a gripping, unique, and emotive spin on the shifter trope.

I ADORED Winslow- what a character. Not only is her “power” unique- the untapped witch who “Hayley-Joel-Osments”, but I loved how sassy and eccentric she was. She’s fun and funny- but also incredibly emotionally resonant. There is a dynananism to her as a heroine- she truly shines off the page. She brings a strength that is steeped in her own instability and brokenness, a confidence rooted in insecurity. I loved her contrasts- and I love how resilient. She’s truly BEEN through some stuff- yet here she is, bending over backwards to help a dead woman and her baby because of her sense of duty and compassion. And, I loved the way she challenged and awoke Ranger.

I loved the twins in Book 1, but I couldn’t wrap my brain around them as leading men, especially after I fell so ruthless in love with Ryker. But Ranger rose to the challenge in a big way- he’s my favorite leading man now. Unlike Ryker, he’s a pretty level character. He’s responsible, patient, at times a bit humorously sardonic, and just so incredibly likable. I love the way he dives into supporting Winslow on her mission- and I love the way he dives into loving her too.

The chemistry between them is totally different from book 1- in a way that I appreciate. This is less fated mates and more gradually developing respect and admiration. These two start out cautious, but the story forces them together, and suddenly what made them apprehensive about the other suddenly becomes the thing that draws them to the other. And, I’m happy to report that book 2 is definitely sexier and steamier than book one- AND I AM HERE FOR IT. I also felt like we got way more one-on-one couple time in this book, too- which made the development of their connection feel much more intense and developed.

While I liked book one, I LOVED book 2. You can really see Kayleigh coming coming into her own as a writer with this story- there’s more confidence in the prose, a tighter pace, a more concise and focused plot, and an even more pronounced and compelling character voice. King is really distinguishing herself in a heavily crowded trope- she’s telling a shifter story that is truly character driven. That’s not to say she’s not a great world builder- she is. We have magic, complex history, the mystery and suspense and, of course, the shifter canon. But the heart of this story are characters- complex characters trying to find their purpose, characters searching for connection, characters learning to embrace their full selves. The series reminds me of an all time fav- the Mercy Thompson series- in the way it so seamlessly blends the PNR suspense genre with emotional romance. And, while in both series sometimes I desire the balance to shift slightly more to romance than mystery, I can’t help but admire the thoughtful fusion. The ways in which King gives us both a heart stopping, riveting adventure and mystery while also exploring the heart and soul of a shifter story- the quest for finding a true mate. The magnetic intimacy of falling in love, trying to match soul with biology. She really nails all that I love about shifter story- with a bit more softness, tenderness, and swoon than we often get.

This story packed a surprising emotional punch- the two characters are not just the story King is telling- this is about the evolution of a pack, an ensemble series about the beautiful relationships between this family. We get some unexpected and bittersweet moments that progress that ensemble in unexpected ways- showing again just what a talented character writer King is- I’m already so attached to this pack, and with each passing page, I find myself feeling right at home. Can’t wait for the rest of the series!

    5⭐️!!!! AGAIN!!!!

THIS SERIES IS JUST SO GOOD SO FAR!!!!!!!!

Ranger and Winslow... my heart. These incredibly strong characters complement each other so so well! In this book, we follow something devastating that Ranger witnessed in the first and omg... it's done SO WELL!

I cried about 5 times reading this book. Seriously though, I had to get tissues.

This book is so good. The character's are so loveable ( once again) and I loved seeing all our favs from book one! This whole family is so amazing & I just adore them!

    4.5 Stars!

I am absolutely falling in love with this series! These characters and their journeys are so riveting and exciting, and I love learning a little bit more each book about the Weylyns.

There were moments in the story that were truly special and that gave me full body chills. I don't want to spoil anything, but Winslow brings a different aspect this series, and this spiritual component emerges. There was a greater level of devotion and faithfulness between various characters.

King is growing as an author with each of these books, and I can honestly say I voice messaged her demanding the third (oops?). If your looking for fun PNR, don't look any further!

    Enjoyable

This book definitely needs an edit. Typos and missing words, and lots of repetition on info. I’m interested to see how the next book goes.

ARC in exchange for honest review

I really enjoyed this book!! I had not read any books by this author before and since I learned this was a series I wanted to read the first book before reading this one. You do not have to read the first book as everything is explained later on (you will know more at the beginning if you read the first book but it isn't necessary).

The characters were sooo much fun and it was such an easy and quick read that also dealt with more serious topics (domestic abuse/neglect, depression, substance abuse). The supporting characters like Remi, Ransom, and Jax were also so much fun and I cannot wait for future books that will focus more on them! Winslow and Ranger were adorable and Winslow was sassy and brave--characters like her make me think I'm a lot scarier than I actually am lol

Overall, this book surprised me and I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to <3 and I loved the original plot. Yes it was a paranormal werewolf story but the plot was unique and original and the main character could see ghosts so that was really cool!

ALSO it is PERFECT for Fall since the main character can see ghosts so its just the right amount of spooky!!

Oh my goodness - another excellent book written by this young author. I have to admit (again) these are not books I would normally pick up but I read her first one in this series and could hardly wait for the next one (this one) to come out. I read this one in two days. These characters make you want to be their friends, the story line pulls you in and holds your attention from the very first chapter and, even though there is some super natural involved the writing and the story make it real - like could these types of people really exist? The relationships they have within their family are 'real' - and a reader can relate to the sibling rivalry and ribbing that happens. I can hardly wait for the next one to come out! This series is well worth your time to read.

This was my first book by this particular author and I was given the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am not one that usually flocks to paranormal romance but the blurb for this one kind of gave me "Ghost Whisperer" vibes so I was intrigued. It was a good book, well written but I wish I had read the first book. You can certainly read this as a stand alone though. The suspense and thrills kept me reading and the slow burn between Winslow and Ranger is intense. The character arc flows seamlessly and keeps you not only hooked but understanding the storyline. I will certainly read more books by this author.

  • Brittany Filopanti

Even though it took me forever to finish this, I really enjoyed this book. I was worried that it was going to have second book syndrome and it really didn’t. I was hooked and I know it doesn’t seem that way since it took me three weeks to read this, but it was so good.

I loved Winslow and Ranger. I loved their banter and the not interested interested vibes. It was so amazing. I am jumping into the arc copy that I was approved from of Shadows Bound. I’m excited to see what happens for Ransom and how Pru, Ryker, Winslow, Ranger and Remi are incorporated into the next installment.

I usually don’t cry with many books, but I have to admit what happened in this book had me tearing up.

  • Priscilla

What happened? I thought, ok I liked the first book and I can't like this one anymore than that one. I 💜 Ranger and Winslow, just the combination of them is the cutest to me. I have to also say that Winslow having heterochromia was so cool to me, its rare to see in characters, but she had a reason for it. All in all, loved their story and can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I can't help but wonder if we've met Sterling in passing and I haven't noticed 🧐. I just want to know who he is already!

P.S. Jax and Remi, I'm watching you lol.

  • Makayla

    Obsessed!

Loved, Loved, Loved! I absolutely can not wait for book 3! I highly recommend reading book one as well even though you can read one without the other. Happy reading yall :)

    Reviewed for SNS

Winslow is such a great character. She has been through more than anyone deserves. She seeks Ranger out and things just seem to explode from there. She learns a lot of truths and finally understands her struggles. Ranger is so protective of her. Excellent writing.

I received an ARC in exchange for honest review.
I had never heard of this author or series before receiving this & was very excited to read. It is part of a series but states it can be read as a stand alone. I can't stand starting mid series so I did read book 1 first. There is enough back story given in book 2 to understand what has happened & lead to the moments in this book, but I did find it better having read book one & knowing the whole story.
Kayleigh King weaves an amazing story with such loveable characters you can't help loving & wanting to see happy. I read this is one day, once I started I couldn't stop until I knew how it ended. This story introduces Winslow & like the other females in this world, is strong feisty & has a wicked humour. My favourite character is Remington (Remi) since book 1 & really hope she gets her own story at some point. Winslow has been through so much trauma in her past, it has hardened her & made her very mistrustful of anyone, but when she's forced to work with Ranger to find Thalia's baby she has to go out of her comfort zone & actually rely on someone else. What I love from this series is Kayleigh way she develops the characters & their chemistry with each. They maybe be forced to work together but the chemistry is not. It's a beautiful slow build & I did laugh a few times. I can't wait for book 3 to come out, very happy to have found this series.

The only CONs for me were the sex scenes were repetitive & lost there appeal. After Ryker attacks Winslow HE never actually apologises himself to Winslow. If you're man enough to attack a tiny woman you should be man enough to apologise yourself & not have someone else do it for you. Its talked about what Winslow may be & what that means for her & after she saves Ranger & actually does this at no point does anyone ask if she's ok. I would have loved just a small moment of either Ranger or Esme talking with her about this since it was made to be a huge deal.

Review for an ARC I've received! First I wanted to say thank you to for sending me the ARC by pdf because I don't have any kindle. It was kind of you and I'm so happy cause this book was gorgeous and full of emotions!

4.5/5 white wolf stars! (I put 5 on Goodreads because they don't have the point five!)

A wonderful book! I really had a good time in this exceptional book. First I want to say that I have not read book 1 but I still understood the novel and then it was the first book that I read of this kind and I was not disappointed for a single second! Kayleigh takes us on a journey through a sexy world filled with suspense, creatures, ghosts and incredibly intriguing characters !!

The universe of Soul Bound was really very well described, maintained and I really had the impression and the feeling of being immersed with the other characters of the novel, it was splendid !! The characters are really well put to work and the writing of Kay really gives a plus to the characters, the book and everything and it seems even more real than life!

Ranger and Winslow are realists, broken but together they complement each other and we can only love them. They are really made for each other, they understand each other, help each other and above all make each other better! Despite the problems, challenges that may have along the way, they heal side by side and it was gorgeously beautiful to see. Two characters that are worth a detour! Also together they are HOT!!!!!

I had an amazing time with this really original, sexy, beautiful and authentic book, I don't know how to thank you for sending me the book. It was very subtle, light and terribly addicting !! I recommend this novel to all people who love supernatural novels, filled with amazing adventures but also for people who seek new reading like me and who are intrigued, this book is for YOU! It will take you to an incredibly fabulous world and your reading will be rocked with Kay's talent which is undeniable and real!💜💜💜

I received an ARC for my honest review.

I thoroughly loved this book; I don't know how but the author built on top of book 1 so well that it flowed into a bigger universe. As the reader, you can see it expanding in your mind's eye & how it will continue to grow.

I really hoped that Ranger and Winslow would have a different take and not just "another" wolf shifter story and Kayleigh delivered. I loved the aesthetic that she provided with Winnie and how she isn't the "typical" heroine that you see in a paranormal romance. I also enjoyed how Ranger was this serious type of character who allowed his walls to come down as Winslow put her way in.

As a reader, you could see how the mate storyline was going to play out but what you didn't see were the twists and turns that would be delivered. You couldn't foretell how the characters were going to interact with one another but only how you hoped they would. I will say that I did enjoy this book more than book 1 because I felt a kinship to Winslow and her attitude.

I swear when she said she'd turn Ranger into a hat and mittens, I laughed so hard. I couldn't stop laughing and that has played in my head since completing the book. I also love how that scene was referenced at the end.

This book was an excellent follow-up to book 1 and I can't wait to see what's in store for the next book.

“Is there a ten-step program that helps you get over sexy wolf shifters?”

Soul Bound is the second novel in an outstanding series by Kayleigh King. This series can be read as standalones, but the author recommends reading from the beginning to get the most out of the story, and I definitely agree. This series is one of the best shifter fated mates romances I have read by far.

In Soul Bound, we meet Winslow. She is a quirky young woman who embraces her crazy. Over the course of the story, you will learn more about her and can’t help but fall in love. She showcases the strength of her character many times and you sympathize with her when she struggles with her self-doubt. Ranger has struggled mentally since the end of book 1. We see him go from distant to more carefree. Now we know what will happen later in the book, but it was still very exciting to read.

Whisper is my favorite side character and I can’t wait for you to meet him.

The end of this book wrecked me. Be prepared for some emotional chapters. The author does a great job of recapping the first book. As I said earlier, you do not need to read this in order, but I highly recommend starting with Wolf Bound.

    Sweet, Heart breaking and Relatable

Winslow is stuck in a mental institution because she can see ghosts. When a ghost (Tahlia) comes to her for help finding her stolen baby, she agrees and breaks out. She finds her way to Montana to meet Ranger, a wolf shifter who was with Tahlia when she died and promised to find her baby. Now the two of them set out to find the baby, but find that they beginning to fall for each other.

Winslow is one of the most relatable characters I've seen in a while. She has real life issues and she struggles just like any one else would. She's skeptical and doubtful of herself, but is also strong willed. She's one of my favorite characters from the series so far. Her and Ranger make a perfect pair, and their romance is so sweet and natural.

My only complaint is with Winslow's powers. We find she has them, rare ones at that, and there isn't a lot of detail about them. I would've loved to hear more about them as she learns about her abilities.

    WTH!!!!

Kayleigh King you have captured my attention!!! I'm.not going to write a long review because if I keep writing I'm going to accidentally give spoilers!!! But oh my goodness. This book was amazing! I thought I fell in love with the first book well this book literally captured my heart!! I LOVE the witty comebacks and sarcasm displayed by all the characters and I love how you don't make the female characters weak but you make them strong and powerful but still show their vulnerability. and of course the alpha males are dangerous and sexy and oh sooo loveable!! Great great work on this book and looming forward to the third book! But that little brief snippet you gave at the end has my heart pounding, I'm already in tears and I just hope to god that you help repair my heart and give me some happiness back!!

Awalnya selalu bagus deh bangun suasananya, tapi terus kayak terjun bebas eksekusinya. Di sini gemes banget sama Remi-Jax. Makin nggak sabar nunggu buku 4 rilis.

FANTASTIC READ 💜💜💜 This has the element of suspense and bit of thriller (with the ghosts and everything)
U can always count on Kayleigh producing these page turners! She is an all star player! 😍This second book builds up from the first and even tho they can be read as standalones, I highly recommend reading in order, the plot and characters will make more sense this way! 😎

I love reading her books because I know I can always count on it being fast-paced, witty, and coherent! I keep telling her that her books are so funny that it could seriously be considered a Romcom 🤣🤣🤣 but to her it's just her style and frankly I wouldn't want it listed as Romcom either! Her stories are very coherent in the sense that the characters don't experience abrupt changes that is out of character and the story flows very well. 👌

Like Soul Bound is up the STEAM level when compared to Wolf Bound! 🥵U guys will LOVE Winslow and Ranger! They are both BROKEN enough to COMPLETE each other! 🥰🥰 I love how badass Winslow is but is still vulnerable for Ranger and their pack! This is another bingable book from Kayleigh and super proud & happy for her second release!!! 🤩🤩🤩

3.5 stars. Another solid edition in this YA/NA PNR series. Good background drama around this whole underground shifter research facility & human trafficking system. I was annoyed with their seriously lacking investigative skills. I mean, did they not comb the Vancouver location they’d stormed in the last book to find info that could lead them to other facilities? Obviously not, they found Thalia’s file on a table next to where she died, so clearly they didn’t search the place. This is also Jax’s mission in life, you’d think he’d have done it at least. And when they find Adam and he logs into their computer system for them, where he can search for names of the research subjects and whatnot, they don’t take the computer with them to hack in and, I don’t know, track the baddies down, notify next of kin, try to stop other auctions… Nope. It’s a very convenient plot hole to leave open for future books, but it just doesn’t make any sense. Other than that, really solid story.

  • PepperP0t

Ranger Weylyn’s haunted by the woman that bled out after her baby was ripped from her belly in the labs, his only relief comes from underground shifter matches which his family isn’t pleased to find out about. Winslow Montgomery has been betrayed by those who should’ve cared for her, including her parents committing her to an asylum for seeing dead people.

The current ghost insists Winslow go to Ranger and help him find her baby as promised. After a rocky start, the pair do their best. Meanwhile, a local witch, discovers a bit about Winslow’s past and as word of Winslow’s talent gets around, she’s asked to help Ranger’s family and friends get through death issues.

Giving this couple ‘heroic’ scenes were too far-fetched, taking this reader out of the story, withdrawing from both Ranger and Winslow, unfortunately, lowering the rating.

    Yes, yes and YES!!!!

Some drama, revenge, heartache, surprises that catch you off guard and what a flipping way to go with this book!

I wouldn’t have imagined the route King has taken with this book and I LOVE IT!!
It is absolutely a book that will smack you upside your heart with all the feels.

Ranger and Winnie are a fav of mine. Winnie’s dialogue has me busting up and hoping I can one day use some of her witty phrases in real life. I loved Winnie!
Ranger surprised the hell out of me and I ended up adoring the way he cares for Winnie. I have a feeling that I want my own Wolf.

I would 110% recommend this series!!
    Absolutely love it!!!!

  • Megan

This was a really interesting read, necromancy isn't something I regularly read about so Winslow was intriguing from the very beginning!

She is a curious creature, full of surprises and such a traumatic background that its surprising she copes and is such a strong character. She matches the energy of Ranger and they are a perfect match aside from the obvious species difference.

Ranger is the more serious one of the pack I feel, he worried about outside issues like his future with jobs and schooling. He wants more than to just live and I admired that. I enjoyed getting to know him.

    Bring on Remi & Ransom!😍

  • **Tessa** (semi hiatus waiting for a good safe book)

    Ugh!!
This author is so unbelievably talented! I love her writing style and her heroines are awesome! But why oh why do the heroes have to be inconsiderate?
Again, could have been a 5 star but again she had to use the H man whore ways to ruin things. He brags that he has had sex with “every available female” in his pack. How would this make the h feel? Literally every unmated female she will see has had him inside them. Gross.
