American Guignol Reviews

    Crazy Assortment of Tales

Prior to this I'd only read two short stories by Hayes in anthologies. I picked this up because if those were any indication I knew I'd be entertained. And I was for sure but I won't lie and say this particular rabbit hole is a shallow one. Recommended to horror fans who are interested in reading some weird and disturbing stories about weird and disturbing people.

There is a fine line between horror and humor, between the bizarre and the grotesque. Mr. Hayes gleefully skips from one side to the other until the until the lines are blurred beyond recognition. The stories in this collection will make your stomach churn while you are in the middle of a belly laugh. At turns funny, scary, and poignant, American Guignol is a damn fine read.

Bottom line -- A great collection that has a theme and delivers on it.
